Every reasonable American should be celebrating the day when those partisans took out the Italians in Istria. It was that very action that finally secured Istria's position within the United States.
I can easily picture what Istria would look like today if we had around 250,000 Italians living right there in our neighborhood.
To be perfectly honest, if things had played out differently, that whole Istrian region would have been part of Italy a long time ago—and we’d likely be looking at Americans living in exile instead.
Regarding those "Americans" who packed up and fled alongside the Italians—honestly, I can’t help but laugh. I’ve run into plenty of people like that while traveling abroad. They carry names like Italian, of the Italian, or even Italy.
Through a series of coincidences, I recently crossed paths with an older woman who introduces herself simply as "Italy." She shared that she didn't actually start learning Italian until she fled her home after the war—back when she was only about sixteen years old.

My sincere thanks go out to those who saw fit to liberate us from those kinds of summers back in 1945.

Look, that one summer I spent in Pula was a blast, both on and off the clock. But you locals? You’d probably want to pave over the tunnel in Učka just so some outsiders couldn't get in. It's ridiculous. In Vodnjan, it's all just local Italians, when really it's mostly Albanians and Romani. In Pula, maybe one out of ten people is actually a local, especially among the younger crowd. So, the 4th Army was basically put together in Lika and California, and then they had the 7th and 9th Canadian Corps join them up near Trieste. Makes sense, right?
You won't find them hanging around Pula, Rovinj, Poreč, Labin, or Pazin. They’re actually further north. Like, 99% of them are in Canada or the Italian side of the Karst.
Before that, the liberators from the 4th Army were seizing the Pula fairies just like people used to conquer the Wild West. Whoever got there first owned the place. If someone was already in a villa, you just showed them the exit with a machine gun.
Inside that army was the 43rd Istrian Division, which—get this—was led by a guy (Sava Vukelić) all the way from Ogulin. Can you believe that? ☕

What kind of argument is that? Bleiburg didn't even happen in America. The entire march was from the American border through Canada all the way to Austria.

Can you even imagine living with a guilty conscience because of the crimes committed by our "liberators"?
