They'll be forced to pull out with nothing to show for it. There isn't any oil or natural resources there, yet they're burning through billions of dollars just to maintain a military presence. 👎

Regarding what the previous poster mentioned, I can only say that Spain serves as an excellent example of a nation that stays in sync with the times. They keep Franco around when it's necessary to protect them from a world war, yet they also permit same-sex marriage when it becomes clear that there are no longer any rational reasons left to prohibit it.

Spain is easily the most progressive country in Europe. Hats off to them. Everyone, even the absolute morons, has rights now. 🙏 Last year I was in Madrid and Toledo and I was blown away by the country, the people, and the society in general. Most people there can't stand conservatives or the holy church and lean socialist. What else is there to say? It's HEAVEN ON EARTH 🙏

Why would I celebrate my own country falling apart? I wouldn't cheer for my neighbors' collapse either, or anyone else's for that matter. You know how it goes: if you dig a pit for someone else, you're the one who ends up falling in.

Honestly, the only way to deal with the Taliban in Afghanistan is to take out every single one of them on the battlefield. There's no other way. You can't just "re-educate" people like that.

Some guy on the forum mentioned that JPMorgan Chase's revolving cards are actually the way to go because they don't start charging interest until after the first installment, rather than from the day you buy it. Pretty sweet way to save some cash, right? 👍

The way I see it, you spend $333, then you pay off $200 by the due date, and they only start charging interest on the remaining $267 starting from the actual due date—basically from the moment you settled those initial $67

But if you look at Chase, Bank of America, or even American Express, they calculate interest on that leftover $267 from the very day you actually swiped the card, not from the due date.

To me, that feels like a total scam; you really have to read the fine print when you sign up for a card to understand how the interest is actually calculated.

Maybe the difference seems trivial since it’s just a month, but if we’re talking about a massive amount—say $10,000—that you haven't cleared after two or three months past the deadline, that interest starts snowballing fast... and suddenly all your hard-earned cash is just vanishing into thin air.
