Monitor buying guide (mega-thread) in Computer Peripherals ·
Arthur Anderson10 said:Is it just me, or does this thing actually work? Seriously though—is it just my eyes playing tricks on me, or does that box look like it was dug up from some pre-war ruins? 🙂

Just got this one in—looks like it was just sitting up on a shelf somewhere!

it’d be pretty weird if it wasn't—especially since the price tag makes it feel like it’s plated in solid gold!

Honestly, it's just a total letdown because I'm pairing it with my ancient desktop right now. But hey, I've got a brand-new rig being built for me next week, so everything's gonna change then!

Dell UltraSharp 32 4k USB-C

So, this beauty finally showed up at my door the other day! Honestly—compared to pretty much every monitor I've ever had on my desk? This thing is on a whole different level. It’s like stepping into another dimension or something.

Everything's just the way it always was—you can get in from both the North Coast and the South Coast.

Man, I don't know, they did some renovations or whatever, so yeah...

Alright. Thanks!

So which way am I heading then?

From the Borongaj area?

I haven't been to the stadium since back when they started stripping the seats away!

That's why I'm asking—it's been a good 40 years since I was last there.

How do I get onto the East Coast?

Do I just pass by the North Coast like I used to, or what...?

Thanks for the help!

Hey everyone! Just popping in to say hi—hope you’re all having an awesome week so far! I was just sitting here sipping on some coffee (okay, maybe it was my third cup already, don't judge me!) and thinking about how much fun it is to hang out in this group. It really makes my day better! Anyway, just sending some good vibes your way! ✨ kaže:
So, I just shot this one on my phone—honestly, it could have looked way better if I had better gear—but tomorrow I’ll get some decent shots using my DSLR! You won't see a photographer's credit on this one because, well, there isn't one... which is exactly why I decided to drop it here on the forum. Maybe if I post it, I can actually track down some "clues" and find out who the original creator is! 🙂

Just take it back to where they did the restoration—and honestly? Let them sign whatever the hell they want!🙂

Don't forget about Murtić—people say he's churning out like 6 to 8 pieces a day alone... seriously!

shadowskipper14 said:Hey everyone,
So, I’ve got this one picture that was found up in our attic about 70 years ago... It actually just came back from being restored because it was in pretty rough shape, but the experts told us they couldn't figure out who actually painted it. We actually had a massive offer for it, but we turned it down! Mostly because we wanted to get a few more eyes on it first, but so far, nobody seems to know (or maybe they just don't want to say!) who the artist might be. So, I’m reaching out to you guys—if anyone has even a tiny hunch or an opinion, please let me know! 🙂Thanks so much in advance
Here’s the photo: image

Hmm, if someone put money on the table, they definitely know what they're looking at. If it’s a Vlaho Bukovac, then that offer was probably huge—looks that way to me at first glance, anyway. But hey, it could easily be anyone else...
Who fired the Ambrust at the small town in rural America? in Close to Politics ·
dr.laki said:Since actual historians don't usually bring up this kind of stuff—it's more like political activists like Krešimir Kuljiš doing the talking—I guess this topic definitely belongs right here on this subforum.

Actually, it wasn't even Kuljiš who broke the news; Jadranka Reihl Kir was one of the first people to speak out! She’s the wife of Josip Reihl Kir, the former chief of the Osijek Police Department, who was killed in an ambush—likely on political orders—by Antun Gudelj.

She was the one who really called out Vladimir Šušak regarding that whole Armbrust situation.
Best way to boost video volume (up to 20x)? in Software ·
If you're using the Adobe Creative Cloud, you've got Soundbooth in your toolkit. Just a heads-up though—you really have to watch yourself when you start cranking up the volume on your audio tracks.

If your source audio is already pretty rough, pushing those levels too hard can cause some nasty clipping and popping through your speakers. It’s super annoying!

That’s why my golden rule is always: start with a solid, high-quality recording. I actually tried boosting some audio directly in Premiere Pro once, and man, after I finished the edit, I realized there's definitely a limit to how much you can fix it in post.
Switching formats: Any tips? in Software ·
Honestly, this Handbrake tool everyone’s been raving about here? It’s actually pretty legit.
How to convert MP3 to video? in Software ·
Honestly, Movie Maker is just the easiest way to go!

- Just fire up the program, head over to Tools > Options > Advanced.

Set your settings—set the video format to NTSC, then pick Aspect Ratio 16:9 or maybe 4:3 and hit OK

Boom, you've got your foundation set. Now, jump back into the main screen, grab your photo, and drag it right into the Collection area—do the exact same thing with your song.

Now both your picture and your track are sitting right there in Movie Maker.

Just drag that photo onto the Track Line (Video), and pull your music down onto the Track Line (Audio).

And just like that, your visuals and audio are lined up on the Track Line.

Stretch that image out to match the whole length of the song, or hey, throw in a few more photos if you want—just play around with it!

Alright, you've got a video! Hit play on the bottom right to see how it's looking.

Once everything looks perfect, go to File > Save movie file and pick where you want to save this masterpiece. You can click My Computer > Next > type in a title, choose your folder, click Next > then select Best quality for playback > Next

And that’s it! Once it finishes saving, check it in a video player and upload it to YouTube.

There are tons of other cool stuff you can do too, like adding subtitles or some fun filters, but you can figure that part out as you go. Movie Maker is seriously awesome for beginners—once you get the hang of how editing works, everything else becomes a breeze.

Here’s one I actually made myself using photos in Movie Maker. It’s pretty old school, but hey, it was my first real attempt!

Honestly, what a massive waste of time messing around with free software... especially when you constantly tell yourself, "Eh, this is plenty good enough for what I need to do."

I was saying the exact same thing just a year ago—and look where it got me. Pretty soon, I ended up switching over to Premiere anyway...

James Ruiz6 said:While cleaning out the old family house, we stumbled upon this table. My mother insisted we bring it home, claiming it’s a genuine heirloom—something a great-grandfather or perhaps even her father brought back somewhere around the turn of the 20th century, roughly 1900.

In my estimation, it lacks the inherent value required to justify the expense of a professional restoration. Beyond that, it is quite frankly so unsightly that catching a glimpse of it in the middle of the night is genuinely unsettling. However, she remains convinced of its worth, so I am turning to you for an assessment. If anyone here specializes in this field and might be able to provide an estimate, I would appreciate it. What is the approximate market value of a piece like this?

Man, I have no clue what it's worth. But I gotta say, I've seen a lot of weird stuff in my time, and I have *never* seen anything quite like this... whatever you do, don't just give it away for free!
