Soccer Club Kits, Vol. 1 in Soccer ·
A few things on my mind here:

1) I’ve been grinding at work way too hard lately, so maybe my eyes are just failing me, but does anyone else see a little "sponsored content" or "paid advertisement" disclaimer tucked away in the corner of this article? Because I’m staring at it and seeing absolutely nothing.
2) Look, I’m no high-fashion guru, but I feel like I know a decent amount about jersey design... so who on earth is Parambureao?!
3) Can we please just stop commenting on this absolute garbage? Actually, scratch that—let's dive in. The home kit is an eyesore, the third kit is "meh" at best, and as for the away kit... I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I honestly think there should be a law banning national team jerseys in any sport that doesn't feature the Stars and Stripes. Seriously, Red Star Mexico City had an away kit that looked identical to this a few years back.

Bottom line—WHO IS THIS PERSON?! 😁

This cooperative member honestly has better jerseys than those bottom-feeders in our first league. 😁

Amy Hughes2 said:Yeah, I was actually looking at them yesterday and noticed the difference. What exactly is the issue? 😁

They’ve got that weird "been there, done that" slogan printed right on them, and CONCACAF rules are super strict about lettering—you can't have extra text on the jersey unless it's the single sponsor allowed on the chest. Because of that text, they aren't even legal to wear in matches. 😁 Honestly, it’s such a massive screw-up. From a meter away, you wouldn't even realize it was text, but for a huge brand like Nike and a club like Hajduk Split to miss something like this? I guess I shouldn't be surprised from Hajduk's side, but Nike? Seriously?
Soccer Club Kits, Vol. 1 in Soccer ·
I honestly cannot wrap my head around how Nike could pull such a massive fail with the Hajduk Split kits. It’s actually embarrassing—they shouldn't even be allowed to step onto the pitch for a CONCACAF match wearing those things...

On a brighter note, here are a few more recent ones. Seeing Le Coq Sportif on a kit Made by Nike is just top-tier design:

Then there's this absolute train wreck from AJ Auxerre. They’re clearly trying way too hard to channel that vibe from last year's Marseille away kit, but they completely missed the mark:

Jeremy White9 said:To’s true, Nike’s European stuff is actually pretty solid. Those vertical single lines, like what PSG does, are way underutilized. That Lotto vibe they showed during the presentation looks cool, but in reality, everything just feels too chunky (kind of reminds me of those recent Ukrainian kits). Retro is always a win. Puma and especially Umbro are top tier. It’s a shame the suits over at the LA Lakers didn't have an ounce of imagination to pull off something similar for the anniversary (since they were already putting in the work). That gradient is straight-up 80s thrash. 😁

Anyway, good job and respect. 🙂

I went all out on the Umbro concept because they’re hands down my favorite brand. I honestly thought they’d only do one season in a hundred years, so here’s my take:

image

While Nike definitely nails the European aesthetic, I just can't seem to sketch this Umbro idea quite how I see it in my head. If this actually turned out like this, it would be the best 😁
Soccer Club Kits, Vol. 1 in Soccer ·
Since we’re already on the subject, here are a few different versions for the LA Lakers. I’ve added some context where you might need 😁, though keep in mind these were actually leaked a few months back—so they're missing things like sponsors and logos on the shorts, but they get the job done.

image

No explanation needed for the home kit, but for the away one: it’s part of a massive Nike campaign featuring black-and-white kits to take a stand against racism. Most Nike-sponsored clubs have similar ones. As for the European kit, it’s basically a tribute to the BBB for finally getting Mamić out of the LA Lakers organization, so it features that striped design inspired by the flags from the North stands.

image

The home and European kits pretty much speak for themselves, and since there isn't an explanation for the away kit, I gotta say—I actually really dig the brown one. 😁

image

The home kit is a retro replica from the eighties (check this one: LINK), the away kit is a nod to our "we are the Catholic club" identity, and honestly? The European one is just bad.

image

This is my favorite set too. The home kit is a total classic—it’s the exact look we rocked back when we were still playing as the legacy club (blue with white sleeves, white shorts, and blue socks). The European kit is a mix of two dark blues that looks a bit too intense here; the idea was to create a shimmering effect (kind of like those tiny micro-patterns on the American jersey), and that greyish tone is actually meant to be silver. Finally, the crown jewel—the away kit—where the white symbolizes our purity and integrity, while the red represents the opponents we absolutely crush.🤣

Anyway, since we're talking about the English, I was watching them play against the Buggers the other night and the color of their shorts is 🙏 some kind of blue, like a deep navy 🤷. Our blue just irritates me.

I'm going to find that jersey. 😁

Maybe check back on the previous page 🤣

placidfalcon4 said:hahaha 🤣 Stop talking about Hajduk Split 🤣

We've got Umbro anyway ☕

😁

Like I told you, 🤣

The real issue is that you can't nail those gorgeous kits—like that one from Ireland—without it looking off. Right now, the away kit I put together is kind of a mess 😁, but just imagine if we did a home kit that was totally tailored by Umbro... something like the England national team look but with a red and blue collar instead of white. It would be an absolute banger.

Alright, let me rephrase that: The jersey looks killer, but everything except the sponsor... it basically just looks like a damn number.

placidfalcon4 said:mellowowl38, come on—design a few jerseys for Hajduk Split in that little workshop of yours, don't be a jerk. 😁

And what would you even want for Hajduk? The shirt has to be pure white because if there’s even one speck of color on it, it’s trash. Blue shorts, blue socks... damn. I couldn't even get a simple stripe right like they have on the Seattle kit without everyone crucifying me over who designed it. 😁

Here's a quick mockup, just for you:

image

Since this was a rush job, just ignore the fact that the jersey is way brighter than the shorts and socks—just imagine they all match perfectly 🤣

Sean Lee6 said:Why is Cibalia wearing yellow? 🤷

Probably because they're the visiting team. Honestly, there's this chronic lack of imagination when it comes to kits here in America—it’s just a sea of blue jerseys. Look, I get it, you shouldn't change the home kits every five minutes, though some really could (like that San Francisco design I posted earlier; why wouldn't they have orange kits when that's the color of the fans, the city, and the local brand? Plus, we have way too much blue going on). But the away kits? That's where it gets even stupider. Most clubs that have blue home kits just switch to white for away games, and those with white homes just go with blue or red. Where's the guts? Why wouldn't Inter Milan try out a green away kit, especially since they'd only be wearing it against an Istria-equivalent team anyway? The only clubs showing any actual bravery in this department are Dinamo Chicago and Varteks, which puts them closer to following global trends.
If you actually look at it, most American clubs just flip their home and away colors—Slaven Belupo, New York City, Chicago, Istria, San Diego, Miami... I put together a set of home and away kits for San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, and San Diego; maybe the rest of the league should take notes.

The jersey looks killer, honestly, but those numbers... they’re just a total disaster.

Looks like I’m the only one actually lurking on this forum lately 😁

So, here’s a little something to break up today’s boredom. Come on, people—now that they've stopped dropping new kits, I think it's about time we started designing our own. Let's get a fantasy football league going!

My initial picks to kick things off:

So, this is a Leeds United jersey—a special edition they only ever wore for one single match, specifically during the return leg of the Grand Prix final against Dinamo. It’s kind of wild because even though they won the Grand Prix more than once, the only time they bothered with a custom kit was against Dinamo. 😁

And there are some other seriously cool ones out there:

1) Portsmouth back in their first ten years, featuring all sorts of different variations of this style.
2) Aston Villa during the 1885/86 season.😂
3) Bolton in that same 1885/86 season—honestly, this kit is just too clean.😁
4) In total defiance of everything else, the very first Celtic kit.
5) The original Hearts kit... man, just look at that. Absolutely legendary.

So, anyway... what's your take on him returning to football? I mean, what exactly did he have to do with jerseys in the first place?

I’m with you there—the second I saw that photo, those blue shorts jumped out at me. Honestly, they look just like an old Hajduk jersey or something. If they were a much deeper navy, maybe even almost black, then we'd be talking. But as they are? Not quite hitting the mark.

I honestly don't get why they’ve put that subtle, tonal star above the crest on the last couple of kits—you know, the one celebrating the '66 title? It’s like it's trying to hide in plain sight. I highly doubt it’s some kind of modesty thing, though—that’s just not how the British do things...

He totally was, and honestly, his kits were top-tier—easily living up to his legendary status:

image

also, I don't get why their last two or three kits have that subtle (same color as the shirt) star above the crest to represent that '66 title... it can't be modesty, because let's be real, that's just not how Americans roll...

Maybe they're just trying to lean into that retro vibe, since stars feel a bit too modern. Or maybe they're just feeling salty because it's been nearly half a century since they actually won something meaningful.🤣
