Soccer Club Kits, Vol. 1 in Soccer ·
Seriously, what are you guys smoking collectively? 😁 Look, 99% of the time we’re all on the same page about stuff, but these jerseys are just straight-up hideous. Let’s not even get started on how they barely resemble a classic checkerboard pattern—they look more like some weird away kit, but honestly, I don't even want to describe what they actually look like... I’m not trying to insult the designer because, let's be real, any major brand would probably screw up this badly, but still. If Smith is taking envelopes from Nike to make sure we're rocking their gear, he better make sure the payoff is worth it so we can stick with Nike for a long time, because frankly, I am terrified of what any other brand might try to pull on us.

Fine, let's just push all the way back to 1911 then. I know it's obscure—whatever, it is what it is.😍😁

It’s not totally unknown territory—if I recall correctly, you guys had a kit somewhere along those lines, just with a different crest:

Even if a throwback design would look pretty sick, I honestly don't think it would move many units... 😂

Look, I need to vent about Nike for a second. Anyone who actually knows me, or even just follows my rants in this thread 😁, knows I’ve been a massive Nike fanboy for ages. It’s all about that clean, simple aesthetic for me. Honestly, it’s kind of a joke that Americans basically had to teach Europe what actual style looks like, but hey, facts are facts. Especially when you look at all that tacky Puma stuff, or Adidas—who always seem to churn out these incredibly basic, cookie-cutter jerseys (even though they have the potential to make killer retro kits using that old-school logo and the three stripes everyone used to obsess over). Then you’ve got the mid-tier brands like Kappa or Diadora, and the total nobodies like Lotto. For me, the only kits worth wearing were Nike or Umbro.
But what Nike is pulling right now? Absolute disaster. I’ve been watching their recent releases, and this whole mess started maybe two years ago with those "smaller" Premier League clubs like West Ham United or Fulham FC. I honestly thought they’d leave them alone, but nope. They’ve butchered Inter’s look, done a mediocre job on FC Barcelona’s away kit, and don't even get me started on Hertha—it's a design graveyard. If the rumors about that Manchester United away kit are true, then Nike officially loses its top spot in my heart. At this point, it’s just Umbro for me. They make real football kits—not some high-fashion runway nonsense, just exactly what a football jersey should be. Plus, they’ve leaned into that retro vibe lately after killing it with the English teams, which is brilliant. Luckily, Dinamo Chicago has a similar vibe (just in blue with a different crest 😁):

Whoa, didn't even realize we had someone representing Robbia over here 😁

Richard Gray said:Why on earth did they have to paint that massive red block behind the number? Adding a blue number on top just makes it look like one giant, awkward stain... It’s such a bummer because the jerseys actually looked pretty solid without all that extra stuff. Why couldn't they just put the numbers in small squares instead?😢

What do you mean "intense"? It’s the exact same shade as everything else on the kit. Imagine if it were actually a different hue! Besides, it has to be red so the red remains the dominant color of the jersey. We need that so we can actually play against teams wearing white kits, which is pretty crucial since our two toughest opponents in these qualifiers—Israel and Greece—both wear white.
I’ll give you this: the numbers could have been white. I have no clue what they were thinking there. But they definitely couldn't have gone with the little square design because according to FIFA and UEFA rules, the number has to be on a solid, single-color background.

lonepilot2 said:Inter Miami CF's kits are a genuine surprise—bold, daring, and actually look great, provided they fix those weird mesh holes on the sides. Marseille is also hitting the mark. Milan can't possibly be worse than in previous years now that they've ditched that silly sponsorship deal for the Emirates partnership. 😍

I'm counting down the days until the Umbro kit for Hajduk Split's centennial. Umbro's custom designs are easily the best jerseys on the planet for anyone who loves the game. ☕

If they actually managed to make the ugliest jersey in existence, it’d probably still be the best-selling one in Hajduk Split history. 😁 It’s the same story here in the States, though I’ve got a bad feeling that Diadora will either a) absolutely butcher the design or b) roll out a "new" kit for the 2011/2012 season which would be... let's say, fashionably late. And honestly? My biggest fear is c) they won't even bother making it at all.
As far as Umbro goes, I’m totally with you. They make real football kits without all that extra nonsense. Those last Umbro kits Dinamo Chicago wore were hands down the most beautiful jerseys we've ever had:

I swear someone designed those Manchester United kits while sitting in a sauna or something... it's just too much

image
And don't even get me started on the Inter Milan-related home kit—if they actually roll out something looking like that next season, I am officially boycotting their matches

It’s exactly what I was getting at a few minutes before posting this photo—we are spiraling straight back into the dark ages of the nineties. It all kicked off with that tacky checkerboard watermark on our away kit, then we had those weird Korean home and away sets, and now it's moved on to Manchester. I really, truly hope—though I'm not holding my breath—that the Inter Miami CF kit is the absolute peak of this disaster.

Honestly, Tottenham Hotspur looks ten times better than the current Man Utd mess... I'm just waiting for someone to tell me I'm delusional, because I've got this nagging, sinking feeling that Nike is basically dragging us right back into the dark ages of the nineties... 😁

Terry Bishop7 said:Honestly, I don't get it... I'm just not feeling these new jerseys and training gear at all. Why go with those dull blacks, blues, and whites? It feels a bit like something an Estonian would wear... 🤷

Everyone knows our signature red and white looks best; this whole new look just doesn't sit right with me. 👎

To be real, I think they’re a total disaster too. It’s actually hilarious that Markovic is now pressuring Nike to swap them out for something else—as if you can't just find better gear anywhere else in the world. And seriously, shouldn't the USSF be the ones signing off on what the kit looks like? You can't just have someone shove whatever they want down our throats! It’s going to be even more ridiculous when we head to Tallinn in a week; it’ll be like that old saying about being "more Catholic than the Pope"—except we’ll be more Estonian than the actual Estonians. 🤣

Anyway, same here:

"The all-black outfit combo has already earned Slaven Bilić a new nickname among the players. Behind their boss's back, the footballers are calling him "Max." Davor Gavran tried to play it down by explaining that the national team players are actually referencing Mad Max..."
Yeah, right, they're definitely referencing that guy Max. 😂😂

You can't walk around in gear like this unless you're living in some specific niche subculture in Brooklyn.

Or you’ve got perfectly fine eyes and you’re living in Italy. 🤣
Look, what I mean is, it might be totally fine for Italians to have this tossed into their endless pile of a million different shirt options—hey, if they like it, more power to them—but as a jersey? It's an absolute disaster. Even if it were a total mess, it shouldn't be mandatory kit. 😁

I’m actually stunned, man. Seriously, this looks more like something you'd see a local high school team wearing in some tiny town in the Midwest than anything Inter Miami CF would ever put on the pitch. I know they have the snake thing going on historically, but this is just straight-up wild—even for the Americans or the Japanese. Look, the design itself isn't "terrible," it’s fine if it were just a random t-shirt you grab at a mall, but as a jersey? Come on. Imagine if the LA Galaxy had a donkey on the side, or if some small-town club in Ohio had a weird bird or a coin printed on it. Okay, maybe that would pass because it's just minor league stuff, but we're talking about Inter Miami CF here... this looks like one of those knockoff kits you find in a random stall in China.

rapidstag2 said:What exactly is the deal with this Bob Marley design?

Look... 😁 Marseille is an African-influenced city, everywhere—especially in the Commando Ultra section and the rest of the ultras, since they're mostly African, so they designed the jersey specifically for them.
Honestly though, if they were going for an African theme, they could have done way better. This is hands down the ugliest soccer kit I've seen for the new season.

Michelle Doyle61 said:It looks like they’ve got that greasy texture on the chest area that everyone used to have back in the day. What was that actually called? If I recall correctly, Arsenal always sported that look.

The Scots? From what I can see, they’ve got the Scottish crest printed on the chest, but I have a feeling I totally misread the question here. 🙂
Anyway, I actually dig it. I don't know why people are so anti-Diadora; I mean, I'm not exactly their biggest fan myself—especially being a Dinamo supporter—but they did a solid job on the design for the Scots. This combo of the recent home Diadora kit and the one before the last away kit is honestly one of my favorite looks out of all the jerseys lately:

image

But, if I'm remembering correctly, there wasn't any Mexico involved, so here's their home kit instead:

image

Cool jersey, nothing super original though; I wouldn't personally drop cash on it. 😁
But it has the same vibe as ours—just like how our crest always has "faithful" written on the inside, they've got some slogan of theirs that says "heart on the pitch," like this:

image

Similarly, I am absolutely loving this new jersey which, unfortunately, probably won't even see any playtime:

image

image

It's a third kit, meant for all the African national teams under Puma at this World Cup in South Africa. FIFA cleared it as a third kit, though I doubt anyone is actually going to wear it during a match.

EDIT: I know this is off-topic, but while I was searching for stuff from Mexico, I stumbled upon this:

Our rugby guys are wearing this garbage.

Carl Mendoza4 said:Aha, I didn't realize that. It seems like all the jerseys used to fit that way for Maniche.😁

I don't know, man, but to me, it just seems like the most logical explanation. 😁 When you throw on a kit like that—not even talking about Milan, but more like that new Chelsea one that’s just aggressively blue—it clings to every single part of your body. Unless you're some kind of elite athlete with rock-solid abs and a shredded physique, which, let's face it, 95% of fans aren't, it's going to look terrible. Even if you're a totally normal person—not buff, but not overweight either—that thing is going to make you look huge.
Soccer Club Kits, Vol. 1 in Soccer ·
Terry Bishop7 said:This new Bayern kit isn't actually all that groundbreaking; it’s really just a "retro" look, since they had jerseys very similar to this back in the 70s.

image

Exactly. Plus, I'm pretty sure they only dropped it to celebrate some anniversary, maybe the club's 110th or something?
Soccer Club Kits, Vol. 1 in Soccer ·
Carl Mendoza4 said:They're essentially the same thing; it's just that the one for Serie A looks like it has some Scotch tape stuck to it.🤔

And I’ve got a feeling this is one of those "anti-hooligan" complete slim-fit versions. You know the ones—you can't even breathe in them if you pull them on too tight. I read somewhere that they sell like crap because, let's face it, most fans don't have the shredded physique of a pro athlete, so the thing just looks ridiculous on a normal person. They probably only made two of them, so they're spinning a whole story about how one is specifically designed for Liverpool FC.

Brenda Cook2 said:Even though the new jersey launch was already down to the wire, Umbro is snatching the national team away from Nike and throwing them under the bus...😁

That jersey is an absolute train wreck—they honestly could have ruined our reputation forever. I’m still trying to process that look on that guy's face (second from the left)... Ugh! Anyway, heading over to the Rose Bowl now.😁

Alright, here’s a look at the Nike away kits for the teams heading to the World Cup (besides Brazil, obviously):

image

There’s a bit of everything in this batch—some are total snoozefests, while others actually hit the mark. Personally, I think Canada’s looks pretty solid, but the Netherlands? Absolutely killer. I was actually planning on pulling the trigger on our new home kit, but seeing this one has me second-guessing things... check it out again 😁

image

Oh, and for next season? In my humble opinion, those are hands down the best Bayern kits they've dropped in years. Seriously, Adidas can actually cook when they want to 😁
