Standard of living in Cuba is better than in America in Close to Politics ·
Carl Turner2 said:So, I suppose we should all be grateful that we finally managed to distance ourselves from socialism and collectivism.
Though, honestly, things might have gone a bit smoother if you lot hadn't gone off on your little worker's revolution and trashed everything that actually functioned.

As the old saying goes, you reap what you sow.

you're just talking pure nonsense here.
I mean, I really hope you actually realize how ridiculous you sound.😁

Carl Turner2 said:But honestly, that’s the whole point of socialism, isn't it? They convince you that everything is fine, while compared to any standard, functional society, you're left with absolutely nothing.

Man, you basically just summed up the entire "post-Cold War era" right there.
I mean, we really have to hand it to the corporate lobbyists and the big religious institutions for 😁
pulling that off.

Jerry Sanders4 said:Reading this live was... well, a hell of an experience.
All this talk about love, honesty, and honor is just pure BS; something definitely smells fishy here.
That guy stefano nailed it... it's just a bunch of people living in poverty looking toward God outside of Cuba, and their only real goal is to escape.

They're sick of the old ways in America and Trieste... obviously it's not the same thing, but the vibe is similar under different circumstances.
And especially when I get tired of dealing with Czechs, Poles, and Canadians... those guys would have sold their souls for some seasoning or a couple of bucks back in the day.

All I can say is, the people living there are truly pathetic.

And man, you talk about the people struggling just to get by in the States.

People will tell you that you've got it made,
but they couldn't be more wrong.
Honestly, nobody is more broke or struggling than the folks in Cuba.☕

Look, Mason remembers it all too well,
that whole socialist healthcare
- master plan they had running until 1990.
Just beautiful.

But yeah,
there's just no way to keep it,
- I mean, who hasn't managed to completely wreck everything!
during this whole "transition" phase😁

maybe he's just waiting around for some broke Americans,
to show up for those dirt-cheap medical checkups? ☕

I've included a few photos here as well; it’s actually quite striking how much they remind me of a large municipal hospital back in a city like Seattle...

It goes without saying that the sanctions and the blockade haven't exactly been a cure-all, though I suppose things wouldn't have progressed nearly as far as they have without them either.

I'm telling you, man.
They'd find a way regardless.😁

They don't want those filthy, greedy capitalists showing up just because they see what's there and decide they want to snatch it away.

Exactly.
Especially when they look at
what happened over here during our own "transition" period.

Keith Miller30 said:An online poll on a screen is hardly a definitive study, is it? You are essentially misrepresenting the data from the jump; the headline suggests Americans don't want to pay taxes, implying at least half the population is against it, just to make it look like the public refuses to vote based on a poll where the numbers can be manipulated however one pleases. It feels like nothing more than trolling. 🙂

This is another epic blunder, isn't it? You haven't provided a single link to this supposed "study," though coming from you, I can only imagine what such a study might look like. You simply post an image and walk away, which strikes me as nothing else than pure trolling. People expressed themselves during the census, and that remains the only indisputable fact we have. 🙂

There is no "will of the people" here; there is merely a poll consisting of 2,500 votes, which represents the whims of a small group rather than a national mandate, assuming the poll hasn't been rigged. Once again, it seems we are just dealing with trolling. 🙂

While you might view this entire corrupt setup as a model organization simply because you lack the strength to oppose it, I personally see it as a disgrace; in fact, I can only hope the government eventually stops the bleeding and pulls back their funding entirely.🙂

Why on earth would you wait around for the government to step up?

Just hand it over yourself,
every single cent of your property.

I mean, your kids can just survive off mass and Sunday school lessons, right?

Look, you’re just being you, man.
Is there anything more dangerous than someone claiming to be the enemy of the people? Seriously, it’s such a loaded, heavy-duty phrase that people toss around whenever they want to shut down a conversation or paint a target on someone's back. It’s honestly wild how quickly things escalate when you start using that kind of rhetoric. You see it all the time in politics where instead of actually debating an idea or pointing out why a policy is flawed, people just go straight for the jugular and label their opponent as some sort of existential threat to the entire nation. It’s super intense, and frankly, it feels like we're constantly teetering on the edge of that kind of extreme polarization. When you start defining people by what they supposedly stand against rather than what they actually believe, you aren't even having a discussion anymore—you're just fueling a fire. It’s a massive red flag in any democracy when "us versus them" becomes the only way anyone knows how to communicate. ☕

That's just some BBC flavor for you—a little taste of Europe.
We lost way too much of that after 1918.

Can't you find your own unique style?
Seriously, where's the original flavor?😁

We totally had it back in the day,
from 1945 all the way through 1980.
Those were the glory days, man! Pure pride and greatness!☕

Back in the 90s, we all went out and voted against it, plain and simple.

you clearly have no clue😁

Man, imagine if we could just have Zrče

along with how energetic kids are today.
All without any greedy politicians lining their pockets.

Well, let’s take a moment to assess exactly what level we've reached, shall we?

I mean, look at the reality of things—you walk into a hospital in most major cities that was originally founded by the church, or you attend a school that was established under its aegis...

But I find myself wondering: how many of those hospitals were built by the church and then later handed over to the state, versus how many were actually constructed using taxpayer money?

Man, this argument of yours is honestly on the same level as saying:
Walmart employs the most Americans.
Like, seriously, how many Americans would even have jobs
if Walmart didn't exist?🤣

Carl Turner2 said:I see your point, and perhaps the timing for such massive investments just isn't right, but if we looked at things through that lens, even the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel would have been painted with cheap whitewash... I suppose this is a rather vast topic to unpack in one go...

man, it's like the deathly sins of the church
clearly don't even phase you, 😁

if it wasn't for the Sistine Chapel
and all the absolute chaos the church has caused throughout history,
and if Jesus' teachings actually
had stayed alive,
our whole civilization would be on a much higher level today.

so thanks to their greed.
