Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Amanda Chavez said:I live on the west side of town, but I end up heading all the way out to Central Park over on Broadway to see Dr. Smith - Jones. She really is wonderful. I honestly wish I could find a gynecologist just as great.

I guess the real issue is that whenever I have to visit the dentist, my OB-GYN, or a dermatologist, I end up losing half my day, which creates some pretty significant headaches for me since my work schedule is so unpredictable. That’s why I’m really hoping to track down a solid dentist somewhere between my office and my house. Right now, my current dentist is downtown on Wall Street, my gynecologist is out by Central Park, and I live on the west side, so traveling all over the place like this feels like a bit much.

I was wondering if anyone might be able to point me toward a decent dentist who accepts Medicare over in the West Side of New York City, specifically somewhere around Baruna Filipovica street if possible? 🙂

I suppose I have a bit of a temperature too, maybe around 98.6 to 99 degrees every day. Though, mind you, that’s in the evening, so it isn’t my basal temperature.
rapidrider3 said:The headaches? Yeah, they're a thing. And the breast tenderness... that's pretty standard too.
Acne is definitely on the table, too.
As for whether it’s actually happening or if you're just getting an early start—that usually doesn't clear up until about week 4 or 5.

But look, just hang in there. Wait out those five days, then take the test...👍

I wouldn't say I'm one of those people who gets carried away by every little symptom, though I guess I’ve always been a bit of a pessimist, and I’d much rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed, if I'm being honest.
We’ve been trying for about 15 months now, but I haven't felt quite like this before. Mostly, it was that migraine that really threw me off, because it hit me out of nowhere in just a few minutes, and then there were those breakouts overnight...😲😲
And regarding feeling sick, it’s not that I feel like vomiting, but more like I'll get really hungry, eat a couple of bites, and then my stomach just feels sort of uneasy. So, I find myself eating tiny amounts many times throughout the day, which isn't really my usual style. Normally, I’m the type to have three solid meals, but when I eat, I actually sit down and eat.😬
This might sound a little out there, but I was wondering if any of you experienced an absolutely brutal migraine as one of your very first pregnancy signs? I don't mean just a standard headache, but more like one of those terrifying, overwhelming attacks.
My period isn't due for another five days, so I guess it's probably too early to bother with a test just yet. But the day before yesterday, I was hit by this unbearable migraine—it was so intense I could barely stay on my feet, almost like I was drifting in and out of consciousness. 😲 I don't usually deal with much in the way of headaches, maybe just the occasional minor tension thing here and there, but nothing ever quite like this.
On top of that, I’ve been dealing with some cramping, painful 🙂, feeling hungry all the time, and then feeling strangely lightheaded right after I eat, plus my skin is acting really weird. I already struggle with my complexion, but lately, it feels like my skin is transforming overnight; I'll go to bed with a perfectly clear face and wake up seven hours later covered in breakouts! 😲😲😲
Sorry for the long-winded post, I suppose, but I'm starting to feel a bit anxious and I honestly can't wait for the weekend to finally figure out what's going on.
My period seems to be tapering off today, though I’m still dealing with some pretty heavy discharge, so I guess I’m just hoping this is finally the end of it. 👍
Thanks for getting back to me, and hopefully things won't be quite like this during my next cycle... 🙄
Hey everyone, how long does it usually take for your period to wrap up when you're on progesterone? Mine has been pretty heavy and has already lasted 9 days, which is wild because normally I’m done in maybe 4 or 5 days at most... 😲 I'm sitting here wondering if I should just call my OB-GYN right away or if this is somewhat normal for this situation?
This is actually my very first cycle using progesterone...
Thanks! I suppose that’s really the most logical way to look at it, anyway.
Thomas Ward16 said:so, I have this question that might sound a bit silly, I guess...
I've also been taking Utrogestan because my period was running late.
but then, after only four days on it, my period actually started,
and now I'm wondering if I should just keep going with it, like finish the full ten days?
or is it one of those things where you just stop once the bleeding begins?

I'm actually wondering about the exact same thing, so if anyone happens to know the answer, please let me know!
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
silverscout2 said:I fail to see the utility in experimenting with alternatives when my previous prescription served me perfectly. To be fair, I did find myself pondering the recent media coverage regarding Yasmin, though my physician assured me there was no cause for alarm and that the outcry was largely overstated. Any medication carries inherent risks if misused, and certainly, not every pill is suited for every individual. It is essential to recognize that Yasmin, for instance, poses specific risks for women over thirty-five, smokers, those with diabetes, or individuals managing weight issues. While instructions and clinical guidance are provided with these pills, many people unfortunately neglect to read them.

During my time on them, everything remained quite stable. I actually noticed clearer skin, less oily hair, and even experienced some slight weight loss 🙂

I have a question for those currently taking Yasmin: how frequently do you schedule check-ups, and what specific screenings do you undergo?

I guess I used to head in every 10 to 12 months or so just for blood work and a pelvic ultrasound. Before I even started on the pill, I made sure to get some hormone panels done too, if that makes sense.

If you're dealing with PCOS, your cycle length is probably going to be all over the place now that you've stopped the pill. That PMS feeling might not actually mean anything specific, either; personally, my symptoms can drag on for a month straight. 🙄🙄 Plus, those pains could just be ovulation hitting you. I know some women who don't even get a period without hormone supplements like Provera or progesterone. It might be worth scheduling an appointment with your OB-GYN to talk things through and maybe get some blood work done, just to see what's actually happening. I know it’s stressful, but I guess you should try not to spiral too much.👍
Female vs. male OB-GYNs: Any preferences? in Women's Health ·
Honestly, I don't really care about the gender of my doctor at all. For me, it all comes down to whether they actually know their stuff and stay current with what they’re doing. Throughout my life, I’ve seen three female gynecologists and two male ones, and I’ve even dealt with those awkward situations where I’m being examined by an entire class of medical students at a teaching hospital.. 🙄🙄
I suppose I’m just not the shy type, so that whole male versus female dynamic isn't a dealbreaker for me. What I truly can't stand is when a doctor acts like they’re too busy to actually talk to me during an exam—you know, when they’re barely listening or just going through the motions like it's some mindless routine. It feels pretty dismissive when I'm lying there, vulnerable and totally in the dark about what's actually happening. Or worse, when they try to dodge sending you for necessary tests just to save on insurance paperwork, or when they miss a diagnosis that I, as a complete layman, can see coming from a mile away...

How long have you been taking these pills without even a single break?

I guess I’ve been on them for just under nine years now, without really stopping. 😉

shadowcyclist said:my ovaries are absolutely punishing me right now, and honestly, it’s already been 39 days since I stopped taking Yasmin 5 months, and still nothing, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I know you’re probably losing your mind waiting for this to happen, but try not to let the stress get to you too much. For me, after I finished Yasmin 5 months, my cycle stretched out to about 45 or 47 days, and that’s just how it’s been for the last 6 months.😢 It might not seem like such a huge deal if it weren't for the fact that my PMS symptoms drag on for three whole weeks...
Just hang in there, it'll happen eventually. I'm crossing my fingers that things settle down for you soon. I wonder, do you happen to have PCOS? I do, which I suspect is part of why things are so wonky for me.
