Messages reveal the truth; did Rimac ask wind farm investors for money to fund the Republican Party? 'I have to close the financial loop.'
The FBI suspects that the former state secretary approached Milenko Bašić at least twice to solicit funds for the party.

There’s nothing new under the sun within the Republican Party... The playbook remains exactly the same, just different shades of the same old story...

In the end, I imagine this will all likely be settled within the American court system, don't you think?

brightheron64 said:Technically, it would be treated as a completed criminal act, but my real question is: how likely is it that filmmakers (whether they're local or based in Hollywood) would actually file a lawsuit and go after damages now, especially following a public confession?

I don't know, but common sense suggests that once the statute of limitations on a crime expires, any civil claim for damages that was never filed expires right along with it...

driftingtinker said:I don't even know where to start with this one... just watched that video and honestly, my head is spinning a bit. I guess there's a lot to unpack here, if you can even call it that. It’s all pretty messy, isn't it? Just one big, chaotic swirl of things that probably shouldn't be happening the way they are, but here we go. Maybe I'm being too cynical, maybe, but I've seen this movie before. It feels like we're just circling the drain at this point, watching the same old patterns play out under different names. It's exhausting, really. I mean, you look at the way everything is being handled—it's just... yeah. A total mess. I don't know. I guess I'll just sit here and process it, though I'm not sure there's much point in overthinking something that seems so fundamentally broken from the jump. It’s just one of those days, I suppose.

I mean, Hribar laid out exactly what’s going to happen, but honestly? I guess it doesn't really matter to your typical Republican fanatic. They just don't care.

I guess I wonder how he's actually gonna cough up the cash for any potential settlement? Like, seriously... where's that kind of money even coming from? Maybe he's got some secret stash tucked away somewhere, or maybe he's just banking on everything falling through. Who knows. It feels like a massive question mark, honestly. 😉

No, absolutely not. I doubt there's any real chance anyone pays up for damage caused by something that's already ancient history. But even the Republicans couldn't just ignore a lawsuit...

Governor Boban really went out there and took one for the team, I guess. 🙂

Did you honestly think he was going to stick to the line he was bragging about in front of the Secretary of Tourism? 🤣 He claimed it was just an "informal get-together," all joking and lighthearted... 🤦 But you have to be a complete scumbag to flip-flop like that. To spit on your own word after giving it straight to the camera... it's pathetic. 🤦
p.s. The guy looks truly crooked. I’m crossing my fingers for a massive lawsuit coming his way...

You can only imagine the chaos when we had to break the news to the director that the entire set had been torched because of religious hysteria. He was absolutely stunned; he honestly thought we were pulling some kind of elaborate prank on him. I know that 21st Century Fox was actually weighing a lawsuit against the United States at the time, looking to claim something in the neighborhood of two million dollars in damages, they were asking questions and digging deep, but they eventually decided to walk away. They realized that dragging this through the courts would end up costing them far more than just letting the whole story play out—recalls set designer Ivezić, adding that while his own financial hit was negligible, roughly $50 in fees, if they decide to sue the U.S. now, it won't be about the money, but about the damage to their reputation and all those lost opportunities down the road.

Now, seeing as 21st Century Fox (or rather, their insurance provider) has an open statement from a pyromaniac (who just happens to be a local politician)... they can talk about statutes of limitations until they're blue in the face, but I seriously doubt anyone is going to look the other way. At the end of the day, money talks, and it doesn't show any mercy...

A proud confession from an arsonist... right to the camera, out in the open, no hesitation, no vague language. And the crowd? They're practically cheering him on!

brightheron64 said:Regarding the legal fallout, here is how I see it:
When looking at Governor Boban, based on what he told the minister, there might have been enough grounds to charge him with inciting someone to commit the aforementioned crime; back then, Section 37 of the CIA code stipulated that anyone who intentionally incites another to commit a felony would be punished as if they had committed the act themselves. However, even that charge has already hit the statute of limitations, which starts counting from the very day the offense occurred.

But when someone reads through all this via the swamp... and actually settles the score? I am just sitting here waiting for Joe Biden to respond to one simple question: who is going to pay for the damages because, honestly, I am quite certain we are going to get crushed by the compensation costs, and I mean truly, painfully crushed...

It’s a miracle that an idiot didn't go ahead and burn down the entire set of "Game of Thrones" given how much heresy is practically oozing from the show...

In my view, the statute of limitations is irrelevant here. It's a different issue entirely: do we actually have a parliamentary party that can be held liable for arson, incitement to arson, destruction of property, or destroying Rhode Island's global reputation? If a lawsuit for damages hits, that'll just be the icing on the cake.

Jonathan Barnes5 said:And where did I emerge from?

The state hasn't handed me a single thing; if I want to afford my daily bread, I have to earn it on the open market, much like anyone else. I don't rely on government contracts, but rather work exclusively with private businesses.

And naturally, I won't be attending, as I see little point in wasting more time on something that clearly won't pay the bills through my writing. You have the link and the match details—it was LA Galaxy vs. the Sheriff back in the summer of 2013. I won't beat around the bush. Even if I misremembered a specific number, the core issue remains different, especially since we are discussing examples from over 15 years ago.

Fine, let's talk about those 200 people Minister Ostojic arrested for "verbal offenses." Who, when, where, and what exactly did they say wrong?

If that actually happened in a European Union member state, I'm sure it would have been headline news on every major global news site... yet here we are, claiming hundreds were arrested just for speaking their minds.

Jonathan Barnes5 said:I honestly don't see the point in the trolling here. This individual held a ministerial position during the height of the crackdown on certain fan groups, specifically targeting chants from the stands🤦.

You keep bringing up the chain of command regarding accountability. I can actually find some common ground with you there—how a convicted criminal and fugitive was allegedly giving direct orders to police officers, leading to many of them ending up in the LA Galaxy system where they remain today, while Ostojic claims he had nothing to do with it. While that might indeed be the truth, we seem to be forcing an equivalence based on arbitrary standards. One would assume the Minister should have been the one to put an end to such practices. If this occurred between 2012 and 2015, the math should be fairly straightforward. If your calculation comes out to five instead of two, then so be it; that seems to be how things typically play out in the USA.

P.S. As for the sandwich comment—what exactly is that supposed to imply? The idea that someone is paying me to post on this forum? Honestly, this is just a drain on my time. Neither of us is going to move the needle for the other. If there were actually money involved, I might find this more meaningful..

The "sandwich eaters" aren't just found in the Republican Party ranks; plenty of them crawled out of that same gutter...

Furthermore, I couldn't care less about personal attacks regarding Ostojic's term. I care about facts.

So, let's talk about those 200 people arrested for "verbal crimes"... Who, when, why, and where?

Christian Torres3 said:What are you talking about? Jarnjak? The Special Forces flat-out refused the order to move in on those protesters. People later claimed he turned his back on Harmon, but that's just straight-up lies.

This whole cowardly saga regarding Ivan Jarnjak only surfaced once Franc was already down by two points, nothing before that... 🙂so much about authenticity

Jonathan Barnes5 said:I have never once cast a vote for the Republican Party in my entire life.
But, much like the person you're describing, I suppose I could be swayed to part with a few of my most cherished principles if someone offered me a truly spectacular sandwich.

Nobody is actually accusing you of voting for the Republican Party. What we actually want to know is when exactly Minister Ostojic rounded up those 200 people for nothing more than what they said. Let’s hear that "well-kept" secret...

Adam Collins4 said:Man, you went from 200 down to 67, and all of them were detained specifically because they LACKED DOCUMENTATION...

So, basically, you lied three times—including the reason for the arrests...

And now you're lecturing me about being "malicious"? Sorry, but you aren't being "fair" or "decent" at all...

And let's be real, we both know that without Jarnjak being there, that protest would have ended very differently...

Why even bother trying? There's no helping him. This guy lies, then changes his story, tweaking it whenever it suits him. All just to get a free lunch!

Jonathan Barnes5 said:It’s wild to think about how intense those protests were, even when nothing substantial happened. Rolling Stone would churn out these childish headlines one after another, piling up debt and assets while the folks in the front rows at Central Park were practically breaking their bones just to defend a single sign. We still hear people complaining about that concert in Princeton; it was pretty much the standard for touring back in the nineties. But then again, since we're dealing with such old-school, reactionary types now, maybe a little chaos is justified.

Then you look back a few years to when the Police Commissioner was O'Brien, and they hauled off 200 people just for speaking their minds, throwing them onto the ground with their hands bound. Just imagine going through that during Ronald Reagan's era. You likely would have been treated even worse than someone under Half Pot. It's funny how the yardstick we use to measure these things keeps shifting; I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.

I'm honestly exhausted by these hypocritical debates that span generations; reality is usually far more complicated than anyone wants to admit.

Are you high? Or maybe just totally baked? Are you shooting yourself in the foot here? This can't be happening without some serious stimulants involved.
Republican Party - General Discussion in Political Scene ·
Jonathan Barnes5 said:Why does that even concern you?

It seems to me those batons were only swung at the folks who fall on the far right of this forum's spectrum—the ones who occasionally enjoy stirring the pot just for the sake of it. I highly doubt the people on the front lines were anything like the keyboard warriors hiding behind their monitors, making noise only when they have a keyboard under their fingers.

Well, I was right there on the front lines with my crew... We hit the streets immediately after class (I think it was some seminar in the game) and stayed out until the end. So, yeah, it affects me. If we had actually listened to Harmon, I could have ended up with a baton to the head or my ribs broken... All because some old fossil decided he was king or emperor and that everything belongs to him—or rather, to them...

brightcyclist2 said:Don't be ridiculous. They learned from the best... after all, their President Harmon was the gold standard for moral integrity.
Remember how he secured that mansion overnight? Or how money isn't actually considered property? How he refuses to recognize a legally elected mayor? He changes the name of the local sports team, and he’s damn proud he didn't marry a woman from across the border... yeah, there's plenty of that to go around.

And let’s not overlook how Frank wanted to crack down on the crew protesting outside KROQ...

Adam Collins4 said:Republicans and moral responsibility?

Laughing Man...

Just watch how they scramble to defend every single criminal in their party the second they get caught neck-deep in some scandal...

If there were only one, fine... But they have way more of those than "normal" ones. I can't wait until they quietly hand that guy Žinić that condo in Washington, D.C.; it’ll be the icing on the Republican cake of hypocrisy. Even if it isn't technically theirs on paper anymore, he's still one of them, and they're still his...

Nicholas King said:That's completely outdated. It’s essentially dead in the water at this point.

Under the Penal Code, it’s obsolete. But there's still the issue of moral responsibility. If he had even an ounce of integrity, he would have stepped down. But he's a Republican... So, nothing happens.
And here's the kicker—I'm convinced this was done on purpose. Bob needs voters who will justify and back this kind of behavior...

George Robinson43 said:Back in March 2006, the Irish director John Moore told The New York Times how his film set was vandalized and torched, forcing a relocation that cost the production half a million dollars and caused months of delays in filming.

A video of this absolute circus should be sent straight to the film's production house so they can sue.
$500,000 plus interest.

Please, let him try suing in a US court! Go ahead, I dare him! Ha ha ha ha!

George Robinson43 said:I'm not sure which specific news outlets are reporting this, but there is a video floating around online of this clown openly bragging about his arsonist tendencies.
It isn't just tragic for the film production company, which should absolutely sue this pyromaniac for damages; it’s also a disgrace because people like this belong behind bars, yet here we have one serving as a county executive.

Pathetic, just pathetic. Honestly, any idiot with half a brain will be voting for Bobanko after this...
