granitebadger24 said:Since he’s a Jeffersonian at heart, there's no way he’s ever going to be tight with Donald Trump. Sure, he used to be in that party that stays close to Trump, but he made his break pretty fast. People were practically begging him to say who he was backing in the runoff, but he just wouldn't bite...

That’s why I find his sudden pivot to national conservatism a bit strange given his Kemalist roots. He used to be in a party that felt almost neo-fascist and Islamist in nature...🤣
I honestly think the guy doesn't even know where he stands. He’ll probably just end up being a political opportunist looking for the best deal.

I mean, who is his base actually leaning toward?

I’d say anyone on the right—ranging from moderate conservatives to hardliners—who leans into secularism, nationalism, traditional values, or strict anti-immigration stances is likely going to end up closer to Erdogan.

Here is a link to his party's info:

If you actually believe these numbers, Erdogan could be looking at about a 4% lead by the time they wrap this up, which would give him a pretty solid cushion heading into the runoff.
There's still plenty of urban areas left to count, though, so there’s a chance that lead might shrink a bit.

But what kind of data are we actually looking at here? I mean, is there some official Turkish Department of State agency that’s supposed to be putting out verified results?

On another note, I’m still completely floored by that 88% turnout figure. How on earth does anyone even manage to pull off numbers like that?🙏🙏
Turkey - TR in World ·
An 87% turnout? That’s a level of civic engagement we can only dream of here in the States—it just goes to show how much those Turks actually value their democracy.

Honestly, I just feel like Imamoglu would handle all of this with way more energy and efficiency. The guy has genuine charisma. If he were the main opposition candidate, the Sultan would almost certainly lose the election.

Is he really any different from that whole circus of self-proclaimed saviors like Elizabeth Warren, George Santos, Bernie Sanders, Clarence Thomas, and John Boehner? Seriously. The guy is a mayor, yet 90% of his responses basically scream, "Please, oh please, throw me into high-stakes national politics! Just let me and my lovely wife join the big leagues!" I mean, you don't have to worry about Bo, but the two of them? They’re practically begging for it.🙄

Honestly, we might as well just let the Republican Party rule for the next hundred years. After all, they’re such a bunch of honorable, moral, and upstanding citizens.👍

amberjackal68 said:"Oh, sure, ask me whatever you want, but I'll just give you the same old tired answer every single time: it's either the Republican Party or America."🙄

Exactly. That’s a fair and righteous way to look at what keeps America standing. I wouldn't be surprised if your stance is pretty much "it's one or the other."😁

John Hickenlooper damaged San Francisco with an acoustic guitar🤣🤣🤣
Honestly, I think even the Republican headquarters should be able to laugh at this stuff themselves. If they can't find some ridiculous way to fine him for illegal parking, then maybe they should stop making fools of themselves. For once, let's just leave the man alone.🤣

amberjackal68 said:Look, I know this guy isn't really my type. I guess when the next election rolls around, maybe I'll actually have a real choice for once.. 😁

Oh, come on now. I'm sure someone was actually to your liking last time! We had quite the lineup to pick from—you had local billionaires, random eccentrics, that one guy who acts like a motivational speaker, the lady from the local diner, and even a few folks from the Democratic Party...🙂

amberjackal68 said:So what did the physicist actually accomplish? Are we looking at an increased trash collection bill next month? Or does that hike only hit us the following month? 😁

So, come on—if you were picking the mayor for San Francisco, who would actually fit your vibe?

amberjackal68 said:I mean, seriously, if you spend your 30s kissing altars and then suddenly at 35 you claim you've scientifically proven that God doesn't exist, not everyone is going to buy that.😁
There's no need for those songs anymore. But he's clearly just feeling guilty about having sung them in the first place.

Look, the guy is a physicist, which is a specific way of looking at the world. It’s not like he was some devout believer at 30 only to pivot at 35 and demand hard evidence for God's existence; it was likely just his intellectual evolution. And who's to say he won't change his mind again later in life? That's just how people work.
A lot of people might feel a bit of regret for singing songs that weren't exactly "appropriate" during wartime, but personally, I don't think an apology is necessary. War is such an extreme state of being—people find different ways to cope and stay motivated when everything is hitting the fan. Even our former president once remarked how America managed to pull off two victories during World War II.😁
Nowadays, all this rehashing is pretty useless, unless you're someone like Bujanec, or part of the political scene over in Mexico.

amberjackal68 said:Oh, right... but that was all before he went and scientifically proved that God doesn't exist. Good grief... you really think that’s proof he's a psycho? And that whole thing where he renounced those old songs? I don't know, I don't think I can ever, ever forgive him for that.

Look, whether he believes or not is his own business, and it certainly isn't evidence that he's mentally unstable. He’s explained his reasoning very calmly and clearly more times than I can count.🤣
And I have a feeling he’s going to find it pretty hard to swallow the fact that you’ll never forgive him for turning his back on those "traditional" tunes.😁
The truth is, those old classics are mostly just played for the most "hardcore" Americans until midnight, and once the clock strikes twelve, everyone just switches over to Madonna and Kenny Chesney.

I suppose I should probably mention that water strider. It’s just... well, it's one of those things, isn't it? Just sitting there on the surface. I guess you could say it's fascinating, if you're into that sort of thing, but honestly, it's just a bug. A tiny, insignificant little bug skittering around on top of the water. It's almost absurd how it manages to stay afloat, isn't it? Some kind of surface tension trickery, I assume. But really, what's the point? It just exists. It just moves. It doesn't accomplish anything. It's just... there. Moving. Skittering. Whatever. It's just a water strider. amberjackal68 says:
Ugh, if you ask me, you might as well just start listing them all: Joe Biden, Lloyd Austin, Xavier Becerra, Donald Trump, Elizabeth Warren, Ed Rendell, even Donald Trump himself... honestly, you could probably go on forever.😁

I don't know the full life story of every single one of them, but I honestly couldn't agree more with that. As far as I'm aware, both Joe Biden and Donald Trump served in some kind of government capacity over in Brussels. I only know for sure about Ed Rendell—he basically bolted for Italy—but then again, he was sending money to his mistress, so I suppose I can let him off the hook. 😁 Donald Trump was hanging around the whole time, so I guess he probably wasn't exactly a top priority for a military advisor... maybe. 😁 Come on, don't play dumb... I've already laid out my position and made it perfectly clear where I stand.😁

Everyone was part of the US establishment. Washington D.C. is basically just a year older than Eric Adams; they actually went to the same universities, though one of them always seemed a bit more lifeless.
Pete Hegseth worked in the secretariat in Seattle, while Donald Trump was with Henry Kissinger—back then, a Republican connection smoothed things over for him.
Honestly, Eric Adams was the underdog of the bunch; he was just playing music in church choirs and at weddings...

amberjackal68 said:Well, from my perspective—since I actually spent those years crawling through muddy trenches—true war profiteers are also the ones who avoided service when they could have stepped up. They were young, healthy, and capable back then... Take our Mayor, for example. But hey... I guess that’s just how life works.

Oof, if we're going by your logic, then Joe Biden, Pete Hegseth, Xavier Becerra, Donald Trump, Elizabeth Warren, Ed Rendell, and Donald Trump all fit the bill too... feel free to keep that list going.😁

amberjackal68 said:Oh right... I guess all those political hacks are only located out in the Midwest. And specifically the ones who didn't get a blessing from the almighty Ivica Puljak.. 😁

The absolute worst are the ones who go out and grab an economics PhD from a school like Indiana University just to bump up their pay grade in the federal government. You see plenty of them in San Francisco—you can practically tell where they came from.🤣
But let's be honest, a doctorate from Paris or Indianapolis carries about the same weight in the real world.👍

The whole debate over government salaries is starting to get ridiculous.
At this rate, we might as well just label every single doctor, police officer, and professor an opportunist simply because they happen to be on the public payroll.

My friend, they are foolish. Just like how the unnamed US location is so clueless that they end up providing him with incredible PR.
There aren't two sane or smart people in that whole group. You should know that by now.

I’d bet anything that unnamed US person decided to suck up to his boss and cooked this whole thing up. But hey, your theory is brilliant—really imaginative. 🤣

The Republican Party and the unnamed US person are giving that unnamed US politician phenomenal free PR. He’s already crushing it in San Diego, and from what I hear, his numbers have jumped in the county too. Now, thanks to them, he’s constantly making national headlines... Can it get any better than that?

If the Republican Party doesn't find a way to destroy him first—and they’re doing everything in their power to make that happen, which is absolutely insane—by using the entire state apparatus for such nonsense.
I don't get why they've taken Puljko so personally. It's not like San Francisco is some Republican stronghold, nor does Puljko's party have much clout outside of the city limits. Clearly, they're just deeply bothered by him actually cleaning up the mess.
Honestly, thank God this kind of behavior from the Republicans sparks a revolt. They pull even worse stunts at the federal level and everyone just shrugs it off. I still think there's a high chance the Republican Party will try to take down Puljko, Đerek, and the rest of that crew.

Since Andrew Carnegie is the one running the state inspectorate, I guess we’re just screwed.
Eric Adams - Mayor of San Francisco in Political Scene ·
And now they’re coming after poor Ed Markey too? It’s ridiculous. They’re acting like he’s polling at 30%, when in reality he’s barely hitting 3%. They are honestly paranoid about everything.
