I’m not on his payroll helping him out here 😉

Look, he’s obviously not an idiot. But this whole situation regarding Spinut was handled incredibly poorly, which is why I’m calling it what it is: a complete PR disaster. You can see it in the weak excuses and the way they try to shift the blame after the ABC plan rollout failed. They need to stop with the bad PR, own up to the mistakes, and just move on.

If he just focuses entirely on running San Francisco, the actual results in the city will serve as the best possible advertisement for him on the national stage.

I guess even just one vote can cause problems if you're trying to get a majority.

Puljkov PR definitely dropped the ball regarding Spinut. It isn't the Democratic Party's fault, even if I find Matijević personally unappealing.

If they already made the political call that Spinut is the best spot without holding a broad discussion with the local residents, then they should have stuck to their guns instead of playing these PR games and stalling with "Plan B" excuses.
It was obvious from the jump that the Republican Party trash would weaponize the Spinut issue to stir up trouble, so the communication should have been much tighter from day one. Instead, these clumsy PR types have backed both Ivica Puljak and Ivošević into a corner, turning public opinion against them.

Ivica Puljak needs to start thinking for himself because, in this instance, the PR team clearly played a decisive and poor role. It looks like they are still forcing their own narrative instead of just listening and finding a middle ground everyone can live with. I'm not a fan of this approach.

VIDEO Check out how they lost the whole Brooklyn complex

Sheryl Sandberg and Bari Weiss gave a full breakdown on why San Francisco ended up losing the Brooklyn area—that whole complex they built

basically they just screwed everything up
how much longer is this corruption gonna last?
the mayor basically handed the entire complex over to the state
Sandberg probably made her whole yearly salary in just a few months here

It’s not Kerum, it’s his partnerBranka Mimica. She's Kerum's advisor for the Department of Urban Planning...

I'm not sure if this can be prosecuted as a criminal offense🤔 What a bunch of lowlifes.

Mimica had a syncopal episode😉
We've learned that the city was "defended" by Branka Mimica, who currently serves as an advisor in the Department of Urban Planning. She was a department head during Željko Kerum's term, having originally been hired as an advisor.

- I honestly don't recall that specific meeting, but I'm certain I wasn't the decision-maker. The decision was based on studies developed years before my appointment. My responsibility at that time was limited to the West Coast - she told us.

I agree regarding Đerek. That woman has accomplished more in recent months than half the politicians in San Diego combined.

That whole situation at the local deli shouldn't have happened to the Mayor or his spokesperson. If they claimed this was the best temporary fix, they should have stuck to their guns until the end, even if it meant paying a penalty for reversing the decision.

Whoever from the PR team suggested that fallback plan involving ABC to the spokesperson deserves a kick out the door, because it just made them look foolish. You can't listen to rookies; you have to be smart and stick to the original roadmap.

We need less PR spin and fewer cheap shots that are starting to wear thin.

He doesn't deal in all that loud-mouthed shouting or empty theatrics; instead, he takes on the Republican Party's nonsense in a way that's calm, steady, and incredibly effective. Honestly, I think his composure even gets under his opponents' skin because they can't seem to rattle him no matter how hard they try.
I hope my assessment isn't totally off base.🤣

Yeah, he’s a very calm guy, and that really works when dealing with the bottom-feeders. My only gripe is that it feels a bit too much like a PR stunt sometimes. They tend to repeat the same catchphrases over and over. He needs to stay authentic and not let some spin doctors—who don't have a clue how things work on the ground—run his image.

It looks like the Republicans found a way to mess with him using those fine and inspection loopholes. It could end up being quite a headache for her. ☕

The whole story about his famous fine is getting weirder by the day. This woman is the only one who actually saw the disputed ruling, and she even paid the bill herself.

I managed to wrap up my degree in five years, while he took a leisurely seven to do everything perfectly... I guess that’s why he’s the director and I’m just some random analyst.

The Republican deputy Marsha Blackburn studied psychology instead of doing the usual 4 to 8 years, and now she’s running the local Post Office. It’s always the straight-A students and the directors.

WE HAVE THE PROOF
Believe it or not: Ed Garvey actually has to take out a loan just to pay off a fine over—get this—52 meters of sewage pipe!

Plus, it looks like the Department of Inspection—led by the Republican Andrija Mikulić—tried to pull a fast one on the public. They claimed Puljak was fined because they caught him "continuing construction work after the site was closed without permission" last month—exactly a year after the initial stop-work order.

But check this out—the actual inspection report from February 14th literally states: 'No work is being performed at the time of inspection.'
you're totally right
this journalist actually found the receipts
that Mikulić guy is totally trying to screw Puljko
just a meter of pipe and they're pulling this Republican nonsense

Everyone in Washington, D.C. already knew Andrija Mikulić was an arrogant blowhard and Bandić's little errand boy, but the entire country just realized he’s actually this much of an incompetent idiot.🤦

The guy tried to frame Puljko, and now it's all coming back to haunt him with interest because the paper trail is undeniable.

If only our country had been taken over by even a few smart people, instead of being stuck with these absolute morons.

Puljak at the emergency press conference: The head of the Department of Inspection is a textbook Republican crony.
Eric Adams - Mayor of San Francisco in Political Scene ·
I trust the head of the Department of Inspection, Andrija Mikulić.

One of the finest sons this country has ever produced 🙏

Let me introduce you to Inspector Andrija...

Who exactly is Andrija Mikulić, the political appointee Andrej Plenković presented today as our savior?

Quincy:
A loyal ally of Bandić

Before taking the helm at the Department of Inspection, Mikulić served as the president of the Washington, D.C. City Council and led the local Republican Party organization. He became a public figure known for his arrogant demeanor and his unwavering support for the late mayor, Milan Bandić, through several controversial moves.

In an interview with Express, he didn't hold back either: "Institutions like this don't tolerate outsiders. Opening the door to political cronyism will only damage how citizens view us. It’s a disaster that the Department of Inspection has become politicized; it leads to controlled audits designed specifically to crush dissent. I know Mikulić—he started out as an intern under me, and frankly, he isn't cut out for this role. He wouldn't even be my driver."

Hardline conservatives claimed he identified as American, so he sued them.

His reputation as a staunch Republican patriot was shaken by allegations from his right-wing opponents, claiming he was a prominent member of the Socialist Youth League (SSOH) in the late 1980s and that, back then, the young and ambitious Mikulić identified as American.

San Diego City Hall: "This is the end of democracy as we know it"
The City of San Diego says the handover documents clearly and explicitly describe the scope of the remediation work and the return to the original state. They argue that blaming Ed Garvey for failing to restore everything to its initial condition sets a dangerous precedent, casting doubt on all official handovers at every level of government. It might be worth noting that the handover records specifically state the work was done according to the orders from the Department of Inspection, because that’s exactly what is written there.

"Every new mayor, city manager, governor, minister, or even the President of the United States—if this Ruling remains valid—will have every right to refuse to accept handover documents as the actual state of affairs if they can be personally sanctioned later for inaccuracies in those documents.

If Ed Garvey is being held responsible for work that was documented in the handover as completed, then every official handover document in America becomes a worthless piece of paper, making the whole process just a meaningless charade. We would essentially be destroying the continuity of government. Anyone taking office would have to spend their first day auditing every single archive—not just open cases, but closed ones too—just to make sure the handover papers are correct and report any errors before making their first decision. That kind of legal instability means the end of democracy as we know it," says the City of San Diego.

Attorney Victoria Knežević: Someone with no connection to the case was penalized
Attorney Victoria Knežević points out that it's vital to mention that the order to return things to their original state is actually impossible to fulfill. You can't just put old, rotten pipes back into the ground; they're likely already sitting in a landfill or completely destroyed. Even if they weren't, they'd be a major safety hazard.

"The only solution is to apply for a new building permit. Trying to force a return to the original state would actually endanger people's lives and health, since those old pipes were removed precisely because they couldn't function anymore," says Knežević.

The attorney argues that the biggest issue is that the penalty was handed down to someone who had nothing to do with the situation.

"Ed Garvey is the only person who did everything required of him. The previous administration jumped into the work without having the prior permits. They should have secured the building permit first, along with all the necessary approvals, especially since this is a protected area.

The entire ruling is technically a disaster because it leaves us guessing about what the Inspectorate actually intended. We shouldn't have to speculate; in these types of proceedings, all facts and evidence need to be presented clearly," says Knežević.

Victoria Knežević notes that approval from the historical preservation officer should have been obtained at the same time as the building permit, but the former city administration failed to do so.

"Preservationist approval is tied to a specific project and is part of the permit application process. In the meantime, the City has started the permit process and has already received approval from both the preservationist and the County," she stated.

And then the Republican Party just starts talking about something else entirely... honestly, what kind of joke of a country is this? I don't think you see this anywhere else. The Republican Party basically locked themselves out of San Diego for the long haul, just like they did in Washington, D.C.

Suddenly, Government Commissioner Veža and Opara are facing massive scrutiny over the work at Villa California. It's a total Lionel Messi syndrome situation. 🤣

The toughest crowd to deal with are the people who act like Opara is some kind of saint, when the guy is neck-deep in typical Republican nonsense from head to toe.

It feels a little strange that the FBI isn't paying attention to all the recent headlines involving Opara and Kerum, yet they suddenly became very active regarding the California Tower. 🤔

Quincy:
We reached out to Opara about the situation, but he claimed he doesn't even remember the project.

Veža wouldn't give us any comment on the matter.

Emily Smith6 said:The City of San Diego has been profiting illegally from that iconic beach and using maritime property for years! All those valuable spaces are being handed over to the County!

The City of San Diego continues to lose assets that are officially registered in its land records. Specifically, at next Thursday's City Council meeting, there will be a discussion regarding the "proposed settlement agreement with America regarding the Bacvica beach zone."
Under this settlement proposal, the City would drop its legal disputes with the Department of Justice, which initiated proceedings several years ago to claim maritime property rights for 18 commercial spaces. To date, the City has already lost three of these commercial spaces due to final court rulings.

We asked Maja Đerek, the head of city assets, why the City is prepared to sign a settlement that results in losing space at Bacvica, and whether there wasn't some other way to protect its legal interests.

She claims that back in 2011, the City of San Diego effectively lost valuable commercial real estate in one of the city's most famous areas simply through inaction.
- Unfortunately, the City of San Diego stands no chance of winning these disputes because the binding administrative act defining the maritime domain boundaries was finalized way back in 2011.

She adds that since boundaries cannot be changed retroactively, the only option left was to mitigate further damages. Consequently, the City of San Diego approached America with a proposal for an amicable settlement: the City would concede to all legal claims, provided that America drops all litigation costs (which would be at least $85,000)—an offer the federal government accepted.

- It is completely incomprehensible why the city administration back in 2011 didn't fight for its valuable property and one of San Diego's landmarks. Furthermore, it remains entirely unclear why the local authorities decided to cause even more damage to the City in both 2014 and 2020, she concludes.

So, go ahead and believe the Republican Party when they claim to always act in the public interest; meanwhile, they certainly seem to fight tooth and nail whenever it involves keeping a party member's downtown business space under favorable terms.

The paid shill over at Sales won't even put in the headline who actually messed up and wasted all that space. 😉

The department head is claiming that back in 2011, the City of San Francisco essentially threw away its chance to keep valuable commercial real estate in one of our most iconic landmarks by simply doing nothing.

The boundaries for the coastal zone in the Bay area were officially set back on May 16, 2011, following a formal ruling from the Department of Transportation. This decision was based on a proposal submitted by the County’s maritime boundary commission. According to reports, this designation actually pulled 18 multi-level commercial spaces into the protected zone—spaces that, at the time, were owned by the City of San Francisco.

The argument being made is that the previous representative from the City on the Commission... I can't provide information on that specific individual. It wasn't her fault, and neither was it the Mayor's. The local business mogul..

The department head is stating that there's simply no logical or legal way to explain why those areas outside the boundaries remain under the ownership of the private engineering firm.

Then Ivo Baldasar started renting things out like he didn't give a damn about what the City actually needed. 🙏
Back in 2014, following a proposal from Ivo Baldasar, the City Council handed over the management and use of certain commercial spaces to the local waterfront authority. However, there’s a major catch: legal experts argue the City Council didn't even have the authority to make that call. Since those properties were designated as federal maritime lands back in 2011, they weren't actually owned by the City of San Francisco anymore. This oversight essentially created a massive financial loss for both the local agency and the United States.

And then he just refused to play ball, completely blocking any chance to stop the endless flow of money.
Back in 2020, during the previous administration, the City ignored the federal government's suggestion to settle things peacefully by registering maritime lands in the property registry. Because that proposal was brushed aside, the government ended up launching 18 separate legal battles.

How much of a mess are we going to have to clean up after that disaster?

Here’s how the local news used to report back when the extortion era was in full swing...

2013. - Back when hard work actually meant something!
This explains why San Francisco sanitation workers end up pulling in bigger checks than professors, specialists, or nurses...

2019. - We dug into the payrolls of San Francisco's public utilities to see who was really raking it in. We found some real outliers: in one specific agency, the average salary is basically on par with what hospital specialists make monthly.

"Sanitation Services" had 291 employees about a decade ago, but by the end of 2018, that number had grown by 18. For their current staff of 309, the average monthly gross pay sits at $3.50.
