Fair enough, thanks 🙂
Here’s the situation, everyone—I’m posting this because of my mother, and honestly, I’m at my wit's end. She started experiencing this tinnitus about five months ago. In the beginning, it was just a ringing sound that would come and go, but since those early stages, it’s been happening almost every single day, especially during the night...

Over the last week, however, the rustling and ringing have intensified significantly. Actually, the rustling specifically kicked in about seven days ago, and now she’s dealing with physical pain whenever the ear is touched. We've moved past mere noise into actual, sharp physical discomfort. I am completely out of ideas on what to tell her or how to actually help.

She went to see an ENT specialist at a private clinic here in San Diego, but all the doctor did was shine a little flashlight into her ear and call it a day. That was it. The ringing hasn't stopped, so it makes me wonder—is it even possible that no one, not even her primary care physician, is suggesting any real diagnostic work? No imaging of the head, no detailed ear exams, nothing? Look, I’m no medical professional, but it strikes me as bizarre that her doctor wouldn't recommend further testing—especially since, for the last week, she’s been in physical pain rather than just hearing a noise. Couldn't this be an infection, a bacterial issue, or something along those lines? When I look at the outside of her left ear—the one that’s hurting and ringing—the area looks slightly swollen compared to the right side. What should our next move be?

Everything that private doctor told her when she saw him a month ago was essentially just a referral to another specialist. Seriously—does one need to be a world-class expert just to get a referral for detailed imaging of the ear or the head, or some kind of analysis more substantial than a flashlight check? Forgive the sarcasm, but I think you’ll understand where I'm coming from.

She’s telling me now that when she touches her ear or applies pressure at a certain angle, it feels like she's "opening" something up. Even when she yawns, there’s this popping sensation. Is it really possible that this isn't a physical issue, given that there is actual physical pain involved now? I'm feeling pretty frustrated with this private practitioner; considering what she paid for the consultation, it feels both ridiculous and pathetic that a simple flashlight exam was the extent of the service provided...

Perhaps I’m overreacting with my anger toward the private doctor, seeing as she wasn't experiencing physical pain back then, but I still can't wrap my head around the fact that he basically handed her a diagnosis of "it's just noise" and then just gave her another number to call...

Prior to five months ago, she had never dealt with this ringing in her entire life. So, what does a person actually have to do to get someone—even her own doctor—to order a systematic checkup or an MRI/CT scan of the ear or head (not that I'm an expert)?

I think the best course of action is to call that other specialist on Monday, because she simply cannot endure this anymore. My mom says it feels like there is an "apple" stuck in her ear—a heavy sensation, likely from internal swelling. She also mentioned that occasionally something wet leaks out of the ear, which provides a momentary sense of relief.

Thanks, man. You finally lived up to your username 😁—someone who isn't "obsessed" with political correctness or hunting for "antisemites" at every single turn. Much appreciated 👍

@thread starter

Don't play coy; you know exactly why you started this discussion in the first place.

Oh, I know "well," do I? Why don't you tell me then? Go check out the political forums—I'll even drop some links for you—because over there, I’m actually one of the few people who offers any real political support to Israel. Imagine that 😲. So, based on that, how exactly am I being an "unbelievable antisemite" by posting this topic?

I opened this thread regardless of politics, regardless of anything else. I brought it up because the blatant nepotism in Hollywood is bizarre and far too obvious to ignore—and if questioning nepotism suddenly makes someone "antisemitic," then I honestly have no idea what else qualifies under that label anymore.

Unlike you, I maintain a bit more of an open mind; I don't go hunting for "racism" at every single turn. In fact, it’s people like you—those who see "racism" in every minor detail or perfectly normal question—who are actually the biggest racists. It’s basic reverse psychology; you might want to sit down and think about that for a second.

Roger Allen3 said:The topic has potential, maybe, though probably not. So why bring it up regarding a movie? And why present it in such a half-baked, "here you go, take it or leave it" fashion? 🤷

But I spotted a hypocrite jumping out immediately, and honestly, that always makes my day.

Alright, you know what? Fine. Why don't you go ahead and politely beg an admin to shut this thread down then? Is that the plan? Because I am honestly reaching my limit with being labeled a "racist" or an "antisemite" just because of this discussion. It all stems from one single question. So, by all means, close it out if you want to play the "no harm done" card...

Later.

Andrew Watson59 said:I’m looking at this IMDb list of Jewish actors and I honestly can’t wrap my head around it. It looks like being Jewish is basically a prerequisite for making it in the movie business. It's wild. I find it hard to believe every single one of them was born into the faith.

Look, everyone listed there is Jewish—it says "only" 205 people, but where are the other 200? For instance, names like Uma Thurman aren't even included in that count... and so on. My intention here wasn't to be racist or antisemitic; I was simply curious about the mechanics of it all—how, what, and where—and whether this concentration seems a bit "odd," to say the least. That's really all there is to it.

Scott Hall39 said:Jews basically built Hollywood. And yeah, let’s be honest—it’s all about nepotism. They dominate the industry.
Jews kill it in other fields too: science, tech startups, finance. But in those sectors, you actually have to deliver results. And they deliver.
In Hollywood, everything comes down to who you know and who's in your circle. That explains their numbers. Plus, since Jews tend to lean liberal, and Hollywood is a liberal stronghold, the math works out. Just look at how much Hollywood actors donate to political campaigns.

That is the absolute truth. But see, the moment you voice something like that, people start screaming "antisemite" and throwing all sorts of labels around. Take me, for instance—I haven't even done anything wrong here, I just asked a question, yet immediately I’m "profiled as the embodiment of evil"... Good grief...

Look, I was just asking out of curiosity. It’s not like I’m losing sleep over it or anything—I was simply posing a question. Is it really such a massive sin to ask something on a forum?

frozenskipper12 said:Your premise is foolish, repulsive, and quite obviously, antisemitic.

And naturally, you offer zero actual evidence. Which specific fifty percent of actors and directors in Hollywood are supposedly of Jewish descent? Are we just expected to take your word for it?

Besides, who truly cares if an actor is a Jew, provided they can actually act? Or a director?

Go jump in a lake, or perhaps just choke on some smog.

Good grief... what exactly did I write in this thread that qualifies as racist? Of course it doesn't matter who someone is if they’re a talented actor or director—that wasn't my point. My question was simply whether it's statistically plausible that such a massive portion of the top earners and most successful people in the industry share that background. Look... I have never been a racist, nor anything of the sort, but if you're that triggered, feel free to call the admin and get this thread shut down right now. If anyone took me for an antisemite, I apologize—because that isn't me. I posed a single, inquisitive, informative question; is that really enough to warrant being "executed" immediately? Good lord...

If you're so desperate to know which Jewish actors are in Hollywood—just for your own information—go to IMDb and search "Jewish-American actors." Go ahead and look it up yourself. I'm not some bigot sitting here listing names on forums and counting blood cells; I was just curious about one specific thing and asked it. Here is a link so you can see for yourself: http://www.imdb.com/list/sZ8xhbtLQHs/ You might "just maybe" recognize a few famous faces among those 205 world-renowned actors. I suppose even IMDb is "antisemitic" to you now.

Look, everyone, please don't misinterpret my intentions here as antisemitism or any kind of racism—God forbid, I’ve never been that type of person and I never will be—but certain patterns in Hollywood strike me as odd; perhaps it's just my perception, I honestly don't know 🤷

But considering that Jews are a minority in the USA, is it actually possible that they are so incredibly talented that they essentially make up over 50% of the acting rosters in Hollywood (specifically the most successful ones)? When you look at the directors, the writers, even the actors—Jews seem to be everywhere. I’m genuinely curious if anyone else has noticed this, or if I am completely off base here. If I am, then by all means, close this thread and forget I ever said anything...

There are certain actors where I would never have guessed they were Jewish; it truly never crossed my mind. Again, please do not view this topic as any form of antisemitism—this is strictly a personal observation regarding Hollywood. Am I the only one who finds it... I don't know... "a bit strange" that every second successful actor in Hollywood is a Jew? Well, maybe not every second one, but certainly every third. This isn't about some conspiracy theory 🤣, I am simply asking a straightforward question, yet someone will inevitably interpret it as racist. What is wrong with that? Besides, Jews aren't a race; they are an ethnic group. So, does the old joke about Hollywood being a "Jewish film studio" that frequently prioritizes actors from that specific ethnic minority actually hold water, or is it just my imagination? 🤷 Is it truly plausible that they are such exceptionally talented actors and directors in Hollywood that they constitute practically the majority of the cast (among those at the top)...

I sincerely apologize if this topic comes across as antisemitic to anyone; I offer my apologies because that is truly not my intent—I am merely posing a simple question.

Thanks...
They claim they're "fast," and I'm supposedly supposed to "marvel at how quickly they're keeping pace with the times"... Give me a break. Does this mean they’ve finally decided that women in Saudi Arabia are actual human beings too, or what? 🤷
Steven Allen9 said:Will the USA ever reach a point where we can actually decide for ourselves who gets recognized and who doesn't?!
The situation regarding Palestine and its people—stretching from Lebanon and Syria to Jordan and Egypt—has hit a critical turning point.

The UN needs to make a call on recognizing Palestine, which they have every right to do.
Is the US just sitting around waiting for permission from the "big players"?!
But why...? Are we really that terrified of our own shadow?!!

Who’s actually going to stop us from recognizing the sovereignty of a nation that has earned it?
I don't care if the pressure comes from the American Embassy or the Israeli side; we have the right to make our own calls, don't we?!

The US has nothing to gain by recognizing Palestine and "swimming against the tide"—Palestine is the absolute last place where America should be trying to flex its muscles. We have far more pressing domestic issues to deal with than this.

No, no... I don't think that's the right movie. The one I’m thinking of (if my memory serves me) has this premise where aliens are supposedly sending those meteors—essentially, it turns out that if you stop just one, another hundred more come flying in, which spells certain doom. And if I recall correctly, that movie is newer than this one... at least from the 80s.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to ask—I can't for the life of me recall the title of this one movie. The whole thing takes place in a TV studio, where they're reporting on an incoming asteroid heading straight for Earth. Then, once they finally manage to stop it, a hundred more asteroids start pouring in—the whole twist is that someone is intentionally targeting Earth. It’s been so long since I watched it that I honestly can't even tell you if it was actually any good; my memory of it is pretty hazy. Still, I'd love to give it another watch if anyone knows the name?

As for the OP, great topic 👍. Personally, I’d recommend playing the odds—but is that happening in a single room, or are there multiple "gambles" involved? haha

I suppose I agree, I really do. But still—the Nazi resistance in that film was practically non-existent. You have these starving prisoners breaking them like toothpicks, yet they’re carrying plasma guns and somehow barely hitting any Americans? Then, once the heroes finally get their hands on that tech, they suddenly wipe out ten different nations with a single shot. It's a bit much, I guess. 😁

Personally... I find X-Men more engaging. And as for the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger, the movie feels somewhat purposeless.

Look, you already know how Americans are—we can actually overlook that over-the-top, "buffed-up" propaganda patriotism in Captain America because, at the end of the day, we're talking about a superhero literally named Captain America. 🙂 I remember reading him in the comics when I was a kid... He wasn't some powerhouse with god-like abilities like the other guys in the Avengers; even when he teamed up with Spider-Man and the rest of the crew to take down villains, he was always the brains of the operation. He was the symbol—the leader. That's what CAPTAIN AMERICA is all about. 👍
Well, I suppose it’s my turn to weigh in on this one... Personally, I thought the movie was solid—actually, it was VERY GOOD. I’d give it a solid 7.5 out of 10. In my book, this stands as one of the premier Marvel's adaptations within the Captain America franchise, easily holding its own against the Iron Man films and even Spider-Man 2 (which, if you ask me, was a fantastic ride).

The pacing is spot on—it has that tight, cohesive structure you want from a superhero flick—and I wasn't bored for a single second. There were actually two moments where I genuinely felt a chill run down my spine, which is always a litmus test for a successful film 😁 take, for instance, that specific scene where Tommy Lee Jones tosses that grenade—everyone else scatters, but he just lunges toward it, thin and determined 🙂 Anyway... it's a very strong film, at least from my perspective.
brightbadger54 said:I wouldn't go that far. To me, the movie really highlights how much Americans seemingly can't stomach the idea of being outmatched by Nazis during the World War. In this film, it’s practically one American soldier taking down twenty Nazis, whereas in the actual war, the ratio was closer to thirty Americans for every one Nazi. That was my only real gripe—it feels like Hollywood always tries to flip the script when depicting real conflicts where they didn't come out on top, almost as if it's driven by some sort of collective frustration. The whole point of the story felt lost to me once I realized the entire thing just revolved around tallying up how many Nazis an American soldier could kill on screen; the narrative essentially devolved into a cheap scoreboard. It felt rather pointless.

It honestly tanked the quality of the film for me. I felt more of this sense of American resentment and obsession than any connection to the comic or the artistry of filmmaking itself. Sometimes, regardless of how great an American movie might be, you can tell it's just radiating desperation. You see the same thing today with modern war-themed PC games.

Schwarzenegger basically fixed those kinds of numbers for Americans in his movies—he just went around taking out whoever he felt like.
