Symptoms of intestinal obstruction in Health ·
Kenneth Hernandez67... have you seriously forgotten that old handle from the previous forum already? 😁 😉

I honestly think his condition is basically what happens when you accidentally eat the same girl with artificial implants twice, and then those silicone nipples get stuck somewhere in your digestive tract 🙄

but I can't say for certain 😁
Oh, come on... honestly, without my meds, I feel like I’m going to end up smashing myself through a glass window one of these days... seriously, just drop the whole "spiritual healing" act already. I need those damn pills just to get one step higher on the ladder... because there is no way I can leapfrog my way to the top of a skyscraper in one go.

And look, I know deep down I have to heal myself, okay? But I keep telling you—I don't expect a single thing from my therapist other than a damn prescription for Prozac, Xanax, Lexapro, and all that other stuff that keeps me from wanting to slit my wrists whenever an episode hits.
Struggling with pain pill addiction in Health ·
What can I even say about Advil? 😕

Sneeze, they don't even work for me anymore...

Maybe try some natural calming remedies, like a warm herbal tea or something similar... Honestly, the addiction might be more psychological than anything else. If you can just convince yourself that you don't actually need the pills, the whole thing should resolve itself... So, stick to teas and stuff like that to deal with headaches, tension, and all that...

Good luck 🙂

And, by the way, maybe you should think about spending less time on this site... You think you're just hooked on the meds, but just wait until this forum becomes a habit too. 😉
Dealing with static electricity shocks? in Health ·
Just grab a tiny little light bulb and hang it from a chain 🙄 😁
Well, you don't just stumble upon it by chance; you're essentially born with this little "glitch," and how it evolves depends entirely on the kind of mental strain you put yourself through...

But hey, I'm not trying to lecture you or anything—just throwing some thoughts out there for the sake of conversation...

It’s possible that it stays dormant from birth and only activates later in life, but honestly, it could also be triggered by putting way too much pressure on your own psyche...
Jason Johnson4 said:Ree: It’s easy to tear those houses down... when they were built on sand and unstable ground to begin with...😉

It’s just like many of us, unfortunately... and I suppose that's really the crux of the matter...

Regarding what you mentioned about honesty—you hit the nail on the head. It's absolutely true. The problem is that even the most seasoned psychiatrists often lean too heavily on "the classics." They tend to view a patient as if they’re some textbook case study rather than making a genuine effort to actually understand them—to truly grasp how their specific mind works and how they perceive the world...

I’m actually heading to see a shrink myself quite soon, though I’m not holding my breath. To be honest, I expect he'll mostly just help me with prescriptions. As for his endless little lectures? I highly doubt there will be much benefit there, other than perhaps raising my blood pressure with those tired, stereotypical questions...

It's quite easy to spot that "I'm pretending to understand you" mask people wear when someone is actually listening to my sincere thoughts and conclusions, only to judge them based on a "textbook" definition and dismiss my perspective accordingly. It’s that mindset of, "Oh, he said this, so he must be like *that*..." People fail to realize that when I say "this," it isn't just a random thought; it's the result of years of intense self-reflection and analysis...
They don't see the distinction between "I am afraid" and "I can observe that I am experiencing fear"... they miss the difference between an excuse and the actual cause.

It's just... I constantly get flagged as being on the verge of a psychotic break. And look, on one hand, I recognize that I'm not exactly "normal," so maybe that's a fair assessment...

But then again... perhaps I'm simply a bit more intelligent and brutally honest with myself, which has led me to realize that I don't function within the standard parameters...
Jason Johnson4 said:How can you be so sure your assumptions are actually right? 🙄

Well, they say once someone's crazy, they're always crazy... and I know that much about myself. 😁

It’s a bit like owning an old historic building that you spend your entire life trying to renovate. But here's the catch: you aren't allowed to touch the foundation because it's been designated a protected landmark—much like how you can't just rebuild a person from the ground up. So, you just keep adding on, reinforcing, and layering over the surface indefinitely...

...but then, when a major earthquake hits, the whole thing comes crashing down quite easily. And honestly, that’s exactly what happens to the psyche of someone like that.

Maybe that's a bit of a silly analogy, but to me, it feels pretty spot on.
helps someone stay functional instead of just being a walking ghost

John Doe.... honestly, it really bugs me when I see people posting things like that...

Do you seriously think you can just wave a magic wand and suddenly someone’s entire life is transformed???

Take someone struggling with, say, schizophrenia. You aren't even touching half of what's going on in their head... there are so many tangible, physical realities involved... circumstances that might have pushed them toward a breakdown faster, or things that happened specifically because they were already breaking down...

And if a chemical substance can help a person navigate that reality just a little bit more easily, then that matters immensely... sometimes a partial solution feels like paradise compared to the absolute hell of their daily existence...

I'd much rather deal with a "walking ghost" than a corpse... or at least, having that semblance of stability gives them the agency to choose their own path, rather than letting the illness drive them straight into an early grave.

Sure, alternative methods might help find some balance, but if a person is being crushed from every direction by both mental and physical stressors, those methods won't do much good... it's just one step forward and two steps back.

Even something as simple as a jog along the Potomac can be an impossible task for someone in that state... there are problems you just can't solve through willpower alone; sometimes you need the "illusion" provided by chemistry to get by.

It's about forcing a bit of equilibrium—using a pill to balance out the brain chemistry just enough so the person can finally crawl out of their shell and actually try to move forward with their life...
Well, yeah, I recall reading somewhere that it can actually be used quite successfully—I think I saw an article about it in the New York Times or one of those major papers about a year ago...

And man, it’s a powerful hallucinogen... though, as for those specific percentages, who's really to say?

They’d probably say the exact same thing about LSD—that a patient might just get lost in it forever... but my gut tells me this stuff hits a lot harder than LSD does..

Regarding those rituals, I've heard (and hey, now we could just be listening to some crazy warlock's tall tales) that you can practically travel back to the moment of your own birth or uncover memories you thought were gone for good.. almost like a deep state of hypnosis.

It’s entirely possible those are just legends, but I suspect it carries way more weight than LSD, mushrooms, or even peyote...

But for the time being, it's mostly just happening over in places like Vermont, within these parts...
What have we learned from movies? in Movies ·
1) If you really want to launch a car into orbit, all you have to do is point the gun at it and pull the trigger—boom, guaranteed explosion.

2) When someone starts chasing you, the best strategy is to whack them over the head with a vase, then just wait for them to get back up before you make a run for the nearest dead end.

3) During any police raid scene, the youngest officer in uniform always ends up getting killed on the right side of the screen... though if he's Black, you can bet he'll be on the left.🙄

4) An Arnold Schwarzenegger movie gun always seems to have a magazine that holds just enough bullets to last until that final scene where he suddenly runs out of ammo.

5) Americans buying a newspaper or some cigarettes at a convenience store always seem to leave their change behind, no matter how large the bill they used to pay.
Why is "Special" bologna actually called "Special"? in Miscellaneous ·
Honestly, I’d much rather have a savory meat breakfast spread every single morning for the rest of my life than deal with some fancy specialty dish just once a month 😁 🙄

Thomas Mendoza5 said:The term extra sausage, which some people use jokingly, is actually just a direct translation from German.

It’s funny because when you say that German word out loud, it sounds almost identical to the English phrase "extra worst"—like something being the absolute worst. 😁 🙄 😛
Best places to order DVDs online? in Movies ·
Oh boy, 😁

But hey, there's still a glimmer of hope for you...

It’s actually pretty simple: just grab a TV tuner card, hook your TV—or even your DVD player—up to your computer, and then you can watch movies from a standard DVD player whenever the mood strikes you. 😁

And honestly, it feels like you're the only one who could make this such a struggle! 😉 😁

Oh man, you poor thing, you're making such silly little mistakes 😁 😉

Look, when you’re switching things around using licensed software, you only get five attempts... and it actually shows you exactly how many tries you have left... For heaven's sake, didn't you notice it was telling you that you wouldn't be able to switch back to the US zone anymore? 😁

But hey, don't worry, you've still got your trusty little Ribek software 😉

The kind of software I'm talking about is designed to do things that might technically be "off-limits," but they're really intended for educational purposes 🙄 😉

Basically, we're talking about simple little hacker tools—super easy to use, and they let you change the region without any hassle at all...

For example, I personally use DVD Genie. Just look it up online and download it... I haven't fully mastered it yet since I haven't really needed to, but you just select which player you're using to watch your DVDs within the app, pick your zone, and you're good to go. No big deal!
L.A. Confidential (1997) in Movies ·
Well... when you have a cast like that, set in a time and place like this, even a mediocre script would be enough to make the movie feel perfect...

That said, I do think it’s missing a tiny bit of something, but personally, I thought it was fantastic. I actually watched it for the fourth time yesterday, if I recall correctly... I had to record it because I couldn't sit through the beginning at first, so I caught up on the start later and ended up watching another half hour later that same day 😁

Besides, I’ve always been a huge fan of Spacey, which makes the film even more special to me 🙂

Johnny said:That's exactly why any DVDs ordered from the US won't work once they get here. And then, of course, there's the whole issue of regional number...

But hey, there actually is a workaround for that! If you have a DVD playing on your computer—connected to your TV via the video output on your graphics card (you can technically do it without that, though it’s hardly worth borrowing a drive just to watch stuff on a monitor)—you can use some software to set whatever region you want, as many times as you need to...

And like Pesica mentioned, most newer devices are actually compatible with PAL, NTSC, and that third one, what was it called again? 😁

"It’s honestly such a hard thing to admit to yourself—that you might actually be struggling with your mental health."

Just a little bit of friendly advice from me to you: maybe keep it to yourself for a while... because people will just try to gaslight you. They'll tell you that you're imagining things, or they'll claim that anyone who actually has issues thinks they're perfectly fine and that everyone else is the one acting strange, while you're supposedly "completely normal." 🙄

P.S. I'm really not trying to poke fun at you here; it's just that people have this habit of assuming someone is totally fine simply because they sound reasonable when they speak. 😎
Phobias in Health ·
When you talk about the cause of fear, do you mean the actual object someone is afraid of?

No, I think you really have to confront the root cause of a phobia—that specific event or moment that triggered the fear in the first place—rather than just facing the thing itself...

And honestly, there's another layer to this: sometimes a fear can be so overwhelming, or a phobia so intense, that trying to face it too abruptly can actually lead to a total mental breakdown...

It’s much like physical pain; no one can inflict a level of psychological agony on us that our own minds aren't capable of projecting, even if there isn't a single physical wound present. In the same way, no one can "give" you a fear quite as powerful as the one your own mind can manufacture for you...

If you don't approach this process with extreme care, the sheer amount of terror a person might endure could trigger a psychological shock that the mind simply isn't equipped to handle.
