Duje Draganja: Sellout or just misunderstood? in Other Sports ·
Gary Peterson84 said:Honestly, enough with the Duje Draganja drama. It’s getting annoying dealing with people like you who are actually backing his (potential) decision.

I wouldn't say we're exactly "backing" him; it's more about understanding where he's coming from and being tolerant.

Look, if someone views America as their ultimate sacred cause, they obviously won't make a move like this. And honestly, good for them. But for some people, their "sacred" priority is something else entirely—maybe it's family, a specific athletic achievement, money, or some lofty set of ideals. That doesn't automatically make them bad people.

Gary Peterson84 said:If you ask me, you’d probably sell out your own family if the price was right. It seems like money is the only thing you actually worship.👋

Meanwhile, you'd give your very last cent just to support America, wouldn't you? 👋

Honestly, I’m with you on the idea that there should be a rule against switching flags during competition. When athletes do that, the whole point of representing your country just evaporates. But since that kind of ban isn't actually in place, it’d be pretty foolish for an athlete not to take advantage of the opportunity when it hits them.
At the start, he says:

Right from the opening bell, Khabib Nurmagomedov pressed the action and shut down that left high kick. That was the turning point for Chuck Liddell's entire career.

But he doesn't really dive into it after that. Is he trying to say that neutralizing that kick was what ultimately dictated how the rest of the fight went, or what? 😕

I mean, who wouldn't?!
And besides, who knows what else we're footing the bill for without even realizing it!? 😁

Duje, just like most pro athletes, isn't swimming for America, or Bahrain, or even his own uncle—he's swimming for HIMSELF. It's about his legacy. And the paycheck. If fans feel like an athlete's win is their own personal victory just because they happen to share the same passport, that’s on them.

Look, I'm a fan too. It'll sting a little seeing Duje standing on that podium with the Bahraini flag flying above him, but honestly, who can blame me for being selfish? I'd hate to see him pass up a million dollars he rightfully earned just so I could have a few minutes of feeling proud of my American roots.

At the end of the day, athletes survive on this silly sense of pride we get when "our" guy wins. But the reality? Most of them couldn't care less about us.

Some people point to Ivanisevic as the ultimate patriot. But if he was such a die-hard patriot, why didn't he register his residency here in the States and pay his taxes to the US?

I gave it a shot once myself, but it didn't do a thing for me. 👎

dustycanyon6 said:That’s why I think it makes more sense to look into natural alternatives first.

By definition, an "alternative" is something you turn to second, not first.😉

Jesse Edwards2 said:So, when I need surgery, it’s just considered "normal" to slip a little something into a doctor's envelope. Or if I'm going in for tests, I've got to bring a coffee and a box of chocolates for the nurse just so I don't end up waiting in line until 2009. But the second I have to pay a homeopath, suddenly it's a huge scandal.

Honestly, I’d much rather pay a homeopath for a treatment than hand money over to the corrupt bastards in our hospital systems. Between all the medical bills in my family, I’ve basically handed them enough cash to buy a decent used car.

Look, I'm not trying to justify doctors asking for bribes...
But think about it: why is it that with traditional MDs, you face endless waiting lists, have to pay off people under the table, and deal with constant arrogance, yet with alternative practitioners, there’s no crowd and they’re actually happy to see you walk through the door?
Is it because the first group is just inherently evil while the second group is good?
Or is it simply a matter of supply and demand?
And if it really is about demand, why is that? Just think about it for a second!

So, I was over at the main pharmacy in downtown Seattle—the one right near Pike Place Market—and I noticed they actually have an entire section dedicated strictly to homeopathy. 😲
Can anyone weigh in on this?
Does this mean homeopathy has finally gained some level of legitimacy from mainstream medical professionals?
Or is it just another way for them to squeeze more money out of people?
Fedor's post-fight reaction after facing Mirko in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
placidbison20 said:As far as Frederick's appearance goes, it’s true that Mike really caught him off guard and rattled him during that first round.

It actually looked like Mike was taking more hits from Frederick, but I guess Mike's strikes were just doing way more damage. In my opinion, it all comes down to Mike's superior technique. Frederick's punches might look heavy, but I'd argue they aren't actually that powerful because his form is just lacking.

Casey Ramos31, first things first, you really need to learn how to use the "quote" function! 🙂

Secondly, I’m not posting that link here because there are kids reading this thread. 😁

I'm not about to drop a link here just so you can see what someone looks like after getting hit by a freight train. 👎

Pigs in the ring... in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
To me, Fedor Emilianenko looks like he’s carrying a bit too much extra weight. It's wild, though, considering the guy was a total beast and a world champion back in the pride days. 🙄
Who are your favorite "best" Chinese Wing Chun practitioners? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·

1) Leung Ting
2) Victor Kann
3) Garry Lam
4) Hawkins Cheung
5) William Cheung
6) IP Ching (the youngest son of Yip mana)

🙄 😁

I'm not sure if he's originally from China, but personally, I think Che is the best.
He's even humble enough that he didn't include himself in that top six list. 🙂

I’m really hoping this just winds Fedor up even more, so he's absolutely livid 😠 by the time fight night actually rolls around. 😁

Plus, it honestly looks like he’s genuinely terrified of Fedor, which is exactly what we want to see. 🙂

placidbison20 said:Fedor is full of it, and he's terrified of Mirko.
Or maybe he’s just playing mind games, trying to make Mirko think he’s scared just so he can catch him off guard in the ring.

But honestly, if he has to resort to those kinds of psychological tricks specifically against Mirko—rather than using them against everyone else—it pretty much proves he’s actually intimidated.

Rocky Balboa said:We might never actually see a fight with Fedor Emelianenko. Sure, Mirko could beat Minotaur, but what does that even matter when he's basically made of rubber? One tiny slip-up and it's game over.

Everyone is obsessed with seeing Mirko take on Fedor just so he can grab that world title.
But let's be real here: if you can't take down Minotaur, you haven't earned the right to call yourself a champion.
And honestly, if Mirko does manage to beat Minotaur and secures the belt, then Fedor—not Mirko—will be the one begging for that massive showdown between the two legends.

BTW, it almost feels like the absolute best fighters in the world aren't coming out of Japan, Europe, or Brazil, but from the Slavic regions after all. 😁

Oh, and I should probably remind everyone that I was the very first person to coin the UFC (Tyson-Holyfield) triangle theory. I laid that groundwork way before Mirko even stepped into the cage with Minotaur. Now, suddenly, everyone acts like they came up with it themselves. 😳 🙂
