Terry Johnson3 said:So, do you actually have an argument here or not? Look back at the whole thread, not just the last post. If everyone put as much effort into their points as I do (and if apis would actually try sometimes), this debate would be a hell of a lot more productive.
As far as I'm concerned, the program was never slow. I personally never experienced that... sure, maybe for some accounting firm buried under mountains of paperwork it was, but for me, just handling my own stuff, it wasn't.

That’s exactly my point. It might run fine on a single PC with minimal data for a simple business. Anything beyond that, and you're asking for trouble. It’s the same story with Clipper. But with Clipper (meaning DBF), nobody cared because it was the only—or at least the most popular—alternative to the expensive solutions back then.

And I've never read any actual arguments for Techno... just that it's perfect and the best ever, and supposedly has some superior SQL database...

Clearly, you didn't bother looking (I've cited them, and so have others—and I'm not just talking about praise, but flaws too).

And when you can't even get the name right, it's obvious you didn't even want to try.

We are talking about Techno software, just so you know for next time.

Sorry, but that’s not an argument for killing it off.
If I tell you I’ve used a piece of software for 20 years without a single speed or stability issue, I don't need some guy who doesn't even use it telling me it's garbage just because someone, somewhere, is having problems...

It’s like if someone tried to argue that my car is junk because some guy in Zimbabwe is having engine trouble with the exact same model, even though I've driven mine two million miles without a single breakdown.😁

At the end of the day, it comes down to what you paid for and how you use it.
You can't buy a cheap handheld drill for $167 and expect to run it professionally 16 hours a day... but if you just need it for occasional home repairs, it'll probably last you a few years.

Software is no different.

As for getting the name wrong? Why should I bother?
This works for me...
And I've lived long enough to know that those "Top Shop" deals promising incredible products that are somehow 17 times better than the market leaders for half the price—usually including a free pencil—are almost always a scam.

Besides, aggressive advertising and trash-talking the competition usually just backfires on customers anyway. 😉

Terry Johnson3 said:Why would anyone be surprised? Everyone is entitled to an opinion. You, me, whoever. If some people try to shut me up—using every dirty trick in the book just because I won't fall in line—that’s their issue. Fine, you think I'm boring. So what?
This forum shouldn't be about me or anyone else personally. It should be about whether my arguments hold water. We should be discussing whether Techno or Synapse is better, where their strengths lie, or where they fall short.
I provided well-reasoned critiques, and in return, I get hit with personal attacks and smears against the company.
Attack my logic. Leave me alone. Just ignore me, like Jessica Grant56 says. 😍

What arguments exactly???

Terry Johnson3 said:Fine, I'm not "calm" then. Have it your way. It clearly matters a lot to you that you always get the last word.
Have I ever interrupted your conversations when you were talking to your software users? No, I haven't!

Nobody is stopping you from speaking up if you actually have a smart, logical point to make. In fact, go ahead...

Synapse is a garbage program—slow, unstable, and overcomplicated. I've laid out plenty of arguments for that. And compared to Techno software, it has one massive flaw: you can't trial it. That’s why you guys are working so hard to hype it up through those passive-aggressive questions and direct pitches; you think people will fall for your sales pitch. With Techno, you can test everything first. If it sucks, you don't buy it. It costs you nothing.

Seriously, there are tons of them...
Look, I've been using this software for what, 15 or 20 years? (I can't remember exactly, but I've been at it since the DOS days). And honestly, something about your "arguments" just doesn't sit right with me...

As far as I'm concerned, the program has never been slow. Not once. Maybe for some massive accounting firm drowning in data, sure, but for me? Never.
Unstable? I have no clue what you mean by that. It hasn't crashed on me once. Using it for 15 years is probably proof enough that it isn't unstable.🤷
Complicated? I might give you that—they definitely over-engineered it. But once you set things up, it's dead simple, even for someone who isn't an accountant.

Besides, if it is complicated, it's mostly because of how often our tax laws and regulations change constantly... more than the software itself.
Really hoping we stop getting hit with these stupid law changes before they're even published or explained properly.

And as for arguments for Techno, I've never heard anything besides people claiming it's perfect and the absolute best, supposedly because it has some "superior SQL database."
To be honest, as a regular user, I don't care if it uses SQL, Access, or whatever. For me, DOS was the easiest thing to type in. 😁
So, what other arguments do you actually have? 🤷

People are being way too nice to you...
Honestly, you’re so boring that even someone like me, who sticks to bell peppers😂 (just for myself), and doesn't find them cheap or perfect either, has an actual physical aversion to that famous onion🤣
that I’ve somehow never even tried—and thanks to you, probably never will...
In case you're wondering who this is or why I'm here... I rarely post on this topic, but I read it constantly...

And yeah, you're definitely overdoing it with the pepper-shaming and the onion-worship. It's getting ridiculous.

It wasn't about chasing Roman, it was about overtaking him. 😉
He was killing it while chasing—even considering he had to dodge Marussia and Caterham just to stay on track during that lap where he was a full lap down from them between laps 52 and 56. By lap 56, he was already glued to Roman's bumper, and after that, he basically just had to match Roman's pace...
Look, you can't drive significantly faster than someone you're stuck behind unless you actually pass them.

Just check the lap times and the gaps from lap 56 onwards; then it'll make sense to you. 😉
http://en.mclarenf-1.com/index.php?p...nando%20Alonso

Plus, it looks like Roman was actually tasked with holding Alonso back—basically acting as a buffer so Alonso couldn't catch or overtake Kimi.
If Roman had more speed left, he probably would have saved his KERS just to keep Alonso tucked in the DRS zone, driving just fast enough to prevent the overtake for the rest of the lap.

And honestly, it makes zero sense why Alonso even pitted for mediums during the first stint. It’s not like his pace dropped or anything; if anything, he was putting up incredibly consistent times, not much slower than the guys on Soft tires (check the first stint 😉).

Compared to Kimi
http://en.mclarenf-1.com/index.php?p...nando%20Alonso

Where exactly am I supposed to see a difference in pace on those mediums???
The third stint was almost identical in length and pace, even if Lotus was slightly quicker... but to me, it looks like Kimi—or rather, Lotus—was way better on the restart after the SC. They obviously got their tires up to temp much faster than Ferrari, which explains why the gap closed so quickly in those first few laps.

Compared to Vettel
http://en.mclarenf-1.com/index.php?p...nando%20Alonso

Take another look at Alonso's third stint on the mediums...
Vettel pitted twice, so look at the times once Vettel came back out on fresh mediums...
Between laps 43 and 49... by lap 43, Alonso's tires were 18 laps old (he did 4 laps under the SC), yet Vettel pulls an insanely fast lap that's only 0.800 slower than Alonso's, despite having brand new rubber versus 19-lap-old tires. 😉
Then, by lap 44, Alonso is already pulling 0.200 ahead of Vettel. 😳
They stayed roughly neck-and-neck until Alonso's pace finally tanked toward the end of the stint around lap 25 on those tires. Until then, his times were fast and super consistent.

stormybadger8 said:Mercedes is going to get absolutely screwed by this tire change ban and these mandatory pressure rules...

Jason Campbell70 said:Mercedes getting screwed?

Everything is being done just to boost Mercedes' competitiveness.
Pirelli and the FIA are letting them run tests, they're introducing rear tires with a 10-degree lower operating temperature, and they're basically using harder compounds at almost every race compared to last season.

Mercedes is too big of a player on the global stage to settle for mere F1 scraps.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/108668
Hmm, am I seeing things, or is Ross whining about the ban on changing tires?😁
2013 German Grand Prix - July 7th in Formula 1 ·
Paul Lopez6 said:I don't think so.

Once Pirelli tires start falling apart, they fall apart halfway through a lap... if I recall correctly, Kimi dealt with exactly that in Malaysia.

Hmm, 11 laps left and a lead of about 15-16 seconds...
They were basically pulling identical lap times, or maybe Vettel was just slightly quicker... regardless, Vettel would only win in that scenario if Kimi's tires completely disintegrated. Otherwise, who knows if he'd even catch him...

Plus, he’d still have an aggressive Grosjean breathing down his neck the whole time, and who knows if Grosjean might have actually overtaken him...
Anyway, Romain looked like the faster Lotus driver right up until they pointed out Kimi was actually quicker...

Bottom line: Lotus's strategy is a mess. They gamble on these insanely long stints that yield absolutely nothing... and then when an SC pit stop could happen without losing much ground, they play it super conservative instead of taking a real risk.🤷
2013 German Grand Prix - July 7th in Formula 1 ·
Roger Wright94 said:On paper, it makes total sense.
(Now that the race is over and we’re all acting like geniuses) Honestly, I don't think the strategy even mattered. The team had their reasons, and it looks like they actually called it right—not that we stopped questioning them for a second.
There were brief moments where Ferrari could actually hang with Lotus. But they couldn't hold it, even during that final stint when the window was wide open. And that was a golden opportunity handed to them by the SC, Webber dropping out, and Mercedes being completely uncompetitive.

We're still left with the issue of that way-too-short first stint and a massive question mark over how weak they looked during that part of the race.

That’s the root of the whole mess right there.😉

If Ferrari had made it into Q3, they would've started ahead of Lotus... because they were clearly faster in qualifying. Then you'd have to wonder if Lotus could even keep up, much less overtake them. 😉

I can see it happening soon—the day Alonso finally snaps and tells the whole lot of them exactly where to shove it.

Joseph Peterson8 said:He was right on his gearbox half a second before the pit entry. If they’d just pitted him like they did Vettel, he might have come out ahead. Even if he didn't, he would've had the whole race to hunt him down, and we actually would've had something worth watching.

Not likely...
You're forgetting that those blistering sector times happen on the out-lap when you're on fresh rubber...
By the time those tires are worn out, you're crawling. You make your move on the fast tires, not the old ones.😉

That's exactly why in basically every team (except Ferrari😁), the guy in the lead gets the privilege of pitting first.😉

Sure, maybe they would've been neck-and-neck all race, but it's a stretch to think Webber would've finished ahead after that pit stop—and honestly, probably not even after that, for the exact reason I just mentioned...

Dammit, Lotus was a fast car on fast tires too, and even that didn't work out for them...
It's not impossible, but I think it would've been even harder for Webber than it was for them...

But yeah, it's a fact the race would've been way more intense and definitely more fun if Webber had stayed at the very top.

It felt weird right from the start when Kimi was chasing him down over the radio - I have no grip man 🤷

That question popped up right before Fernando Alonso started breathing down his neck...
Specifically that "Are you sure I'm on the same tires as everyone else????" vibe.
2013 German Grand Prix - July 7th in Formula 1 ·
Roger Wright94 said:Yeah, Grosjean was really squeezing him.
Do you honestly think a 1-2 for Lotus was actually on the table!? (With Kimi staying out and Grosjean potentially overtaking)

Look, it wasn't impossible...
Though if I'm being totally honest, a Ferrari win wouldn't have even surprised me...
They seriously had it in the bag without any major issues standing in their way...

From what I saw, this was a rare race where the Red Bull competition made such incredibly brainless tactical calls...
Even Ferrari probably pulled one of their dumbest moves in years...

1. Qualifying was a breeze—they basically cruised into 4th and 5th place...
In the end, Massa had enough pace in Qualifying 2 to grab 4th, trailing Mark Webber by only 0.200 seconds.😳

Fine, you have some idea there's an issue with the Soft tire, so you decide not to use them in qualifying... I get the logic there, I can wrap my head around that, but after that? It’s just pure insanity...

Get this: they go out for Qualifying 3 on Medium tires, even though they know those six cars ahead of them are on Softs and they don't stand a prayer against anyone up there.
They also see that Jenson Button and Nico Hülkenberg aren't coming out of the pits and won't make another lap...
And they know that if they don't bring them in, they'll be starting based on their car numbers...
Meaning Alonso 7, Massa 8, Button 9, Hülkenberg 10...

So what do they do?
They bring them in for a lap and start on old, worn-out tires.🤣

I mean, hello? If they hadn't brought them in, they could have picked between fresh Softs or fresh Mediums, and either way, they would've had a massive advantage over those six ahead. Instead, they ended up pitting practically at the same time as everyone else on Softs, or maybe just slightly later, and naturally, they were significantly slower because of the harder rubber...

Then, by some stroke of luck, fortune wipes away all that nonsense from the free pitstop, and they proceed to make the stupidest mistake possible...
Take Alonso, for instance—he absolutely should have gone for Soft tires during the SC.
Restarting right behind the leaders in 4th, but on tires that are at least a second per lap slower...
Mind you, Alonso was 1.1 seconds faster than Grosjean on those tires, about 0.700 faster than Sebastian Vettel, and 0.300 faster than Kimi (on Softs😳)...
And at that exact moment, everyone ahead of him was sitting on Medium tires 😳.
Faster tires, better top speed, and two DRS zones...

Even if he burned through those tires quickly, it wouldn't have mattered because he'd have the track position, plus he'd be the first to pit and the first to set fast laps in clean air... which would have been right around the time Vettel, Grosjean, and Kimi came charging down the field...

All in all, a total tactical disaster, not just for Lotus, but for Ferrari too.
The competition essentially shot themselves in the foot during a race where they had huge opportunities...

Mercedes wasn't even really in the mix, but even they messed up by having Rosberg hold back Lewis Hamilton, despite them being on completely different strategies...
Just incredibly weird and incredibly foolish on Rosberg's part...
2013 German Grand Prix - July 7th in Formula 1 ·
Honestly, I think Lotus just completely blew this race...
Em messed up the strategy with Kimi, though they might have even screwed up more with Grosjean.😳

Lotus definitely looked like the fastest car out there, especially after the SC...
That said, Grosjean looked way faster than Kimi.

1. The big mess was the whole Kimi vs. Grosjean fight that popped up right when Grosjean was actually making a move on Vettel... and naturally, he started losing ground because he was busy defending against Kimi instead of attacking Vettel...

2. Aside from that, it feels like Grosjean had much better and bigger chances... if they hadn't messed around and if he didn't have to dodge Kimi, he surely would've had a shot since he wouldn't have had any time to lose regarding the gap—he was already breathing down his neck anyway...
And Lotus showed they can manage tires better than Red Bull Racing, so I could totally see him putting the pressure on in those last two laps.

All in all, Lotus choked by favoring Kimi during the race. Sure, it made sense for the championship, but if Grosjean had won and Kimi finished third, Vettel's lead over Kimi would still have been narrowed by 4 points.
Basically, a mistake...

Hopefully they’re still fighting to keep him, but it looks to me like Kimi is definitely heading to Red Bull Racing.😁
Next season is going to be pretty interesting.🙂

BTW.
This tire situation is interesting...
Maybe it's just the temperature, but at the end of the day, among the teams that were banking on a change to their soft tire, it seems like only Force India blew it. And honestly, it looks like the reason might be tire rotation and pressure rather than the actual difference in the rubber itself...

But on the flip side, massive progress from Lotus—it's the first time they haven't struggled with the Medium tires.😳
Ferrari is also looking way better than before... now whether that's due to the tires or something else is hard to say.

Red Bull Racing stayed right where they were, while Mercedes-Benz is three steps backward...
Or maybe this was some kind of punishment from Bernie Ecclestone?🤣
That moment where Lewis Hamilton asked, "Am I sure I'm running the same tires as everyone else?" was interesting...
Who knows, maybe they actually didn't get the same tires.🤷

Joseph Peterson8 said:If they hadn't screwed Mark Webber in the pits, you wouldn't be talking like this.

If they hadn't botched Webber's pit stop, things would look a lot different because that podium would've been Vettel-Webber-Räikkönen...
And Sebastian Vettel's lead over everyone else would’ve been even more massive.😉

Webber wouldn't have stood a chance at overtaking Vettel anyway. Red Bull Racing has these nasty issues following cars—even much slower ones—in dirty air, let alone cars that are just as fast...
It was obvious when Webber got stuck behind the first decent rival to Pastor Maldonado... he couldn't do a thing, even with DRS, and compared to Red Bull Racing, Williams is basically a trash can.

Raymond Anderson4 said:The Ferrari is such a weird car... traction is great through some corners, then absolutely abysmal in others.

I just noticed the same thing. The only logical explanation for why they weren't passing Lewis Hamilton on those paper-thin tires, or Romain Grosjean in that old ex Renault on heavy, slow rubber, is just straight-up terrible traction out of the corners.
It might seem a little wild that Alonso is pulling a fastest lap that’s over a second quicker than Grosjean... and easily the fastest lap of the race.

The traction in these corners is absolute garbage. Just total garbage. 🧐
He’s even messing with the maestro. When you’re running a car that's 1.1 seconds faster than everyone else....
What an absolute dumpster fire this Ferrari is... there isn't a trace of speed to be found. Honestly, it’s pathetic.🙂

Sure, the driver who crosses the line first wins, obviously... but the real MVP of the race was Mark Webber.🙏
He overtook everyone on the track in a single lap... Mark The fucking King of The Road. 🙂

Holy crap, I’m staring at the live timing and suddenly Webber pulls a fast one, setting the fastest lap of the race right under the Safety Car. 🙏
I’m honestly shocked he didn't get slapped with a penalty.🤣

Sebastian Vettel is predictably the best...
Can we please get some actual competition? Stop giving us these retirees and give us the young guns from GP2 instead. 🙂

By the way, they could give the pedals to any of the guys in red—honestly, I don't care which one. I mean, Kamui Kobayashi eats those drivers for breakfast. Just get that Ferrari into the hands of a real racer.😳
I've actually never seen Kamui Kobayashi in a red car before.☕
