Brian Campbell36 said:Funny how Vettel and his boss aren't even mentioning the tires... if they’d actually lost them—meaning if they were stuck where Alonso was—they’d be screaming at Bernie and the FIA by now.🙂

Red Bull Racing is a weird one.

Who told you that?🤣
And what do you think about Vettel's comment about everyone driving like tourists on a bus through Monaco and nobody actually enjoying the drive anymore?

I honestly don't get your logic. How on earth are Alonso and Hemoš "mediocre" while Button is "terrible"?🤣

Alonso gained one spot from his grid position, and that's even with someone ahead of him basically giving up early...
Hamilton dropped 2 spots from his grid position.
Kimi fell 5 spots, but let's be real—between that crash near the end and an extra pit stop in a race where everyone was basically glued within twenty seconds of each other...
Button moved up 3 spots from his grid position, and somehow he's the terrible one.😁
F1 Monaco GP - May 26, 2013 in Formula 1 ·
First, he’s gotta get past Webber.☕
Once he actually tries to make a move on him, he'll get slapped back so hard he won't even dare look at that blue car for the next few years.😬

Besides, he's way too slow compared to Vettel anyway.😍

Let them try it themselves😛
they'll end up just like all the other McLaren drivers🤣

We've got Webber 😉
and he doesn't just let people walk over him.😁

It was only a matter of time before this happened. Those previous "successful" attempts—if you can even call those needle-thin margins successes—just gave him a false sense of confidence. He thought he could pull it off against Kimi, but nope. Impossible.

Something like that, though you have to give him credit... he's got heart. A lot of it.🙏
I can't wait to see what he does once McLaren actually builds a decent car instead of this total junk heap.
The kid's got massive potential, and honestly, this just makes him even better.
Man, he absolutely terrified the world champions. From here on out, they’re going to be shaking in their boots before they even get near him.😬
And honestly, anyone at the top of the food chain should probably think three times before trying to muscle him around...

Anthony Baker84 said:To be fair, Grosjean didn't really mess up here, but that’s just how it goes. It’s like driving in LA—no matter what happens, if you tap the bumper of the guy in front of you, somehow it’s always your fault for not keeping enough distance. 😬)

Something like that, though I can't seem to find the actual footage of the crash...
I honestly have no clue what Ric was doing mid-race. I can't wrap my head around why he braked so early or why he was being such a snail out there.

Anthony Baker84 said:Sutil was a total genius at sniffing out openings—he absolutely played both Alonso and Button.

I just sat through that old replay where he absolutely crushed it in Monaco, right before Kimi completely screwed everything up at the finish line.
Funny how he managed to claw his way back this time, and specifically thanks to Kimi.

Anthony Baker84 said:Kimi over the last two laps... man, good grief. How on earth did he just slice through that entire field like they weren't even there?

Proof that these guys were just dragging each other along... and doing a terrible job of it.
Aside from the fact that Caterham managed to snag fastest lap at some point, this race was anything but normal.🤣
Even Kimi absolutely jumped them. Honestly, I feel like I’m missing a huge chunk of the story... if my memory serves, he was P16 coming out of the pits...
EDIT: if my memory serves...
http://en.mclarenf-1.com/index.php?p...o%20Hulkenberg
Good grief, being 20 seconds behind Hulko in just 8 laps...🙏

Anthony Baker84 said:Was Alonso even racing, or was he just sightseeing in Monaco?

Button is an even bigger tourist than Alonso.

Apparently, Alonso had a piece of someone else's front wing stuck to his car, so his aerodynamics were totally trashed...
I didn't even doubt that Ferrari would find some excuse for him.😬

As for Button's excuse, I haven't a clue...
Though it looks like he's nearing retirement; Perez is already straight-up bullying him, and even whining isn't helping anymore...
And it's funny how he suddenly forgot all about complaining regarding team orders...
Man, what a snitch, tattling on his own teammate to the Elizabeth Hughes.🙏🤣
All in all, regardless of the result, his race was actually worse than Hamilton's in Barcelona.

Anthony Baker84 said:Thank God Rosberg finally managed to pull off a half-win.

Masalah, glad things finally went his way.👍
Though if you ask me, Chilton handed him the win... if there hadn't been that tire change mid-stint on the grid, he would've snatched it easily.

Roger Wright94 said:Not only did he fail to overtake him.
He actually managed to piss him off.
And then forced him out to give those interviews...
Kimi, feelings, quotes... wtf?
Seriously, tell me when anyone else has pulled that off. Not even when he was winning the championship.

Something's gonna come of this Perez guy... kid's got talent.😁🤣
F1 Monaco GP - May 26, 2013 in Formula 1 ·
Saw this great comment online once🤣

Perez basically ranked the drivers by skill level for us:

3. Button – you can just breeze past him.

2. Alonso – you might get past, but only if you struggle and pray the refs help you out.

3. Raikkonen – Not even a chance!

🙏🤣

Though, honestly, it’s a damn shame he didn't include Kimi too.😁
It would have been pretty wild to see what happened if he set his sights on Hamilton.😬
F1 Monaco GP - May 26, 2013 in Formula 1 ·
Nathan Jones98 said:Even Hamilton tried it and failed, though at least he didn't take out Webber.

And did Perez kill someone?
Look, regardless of how you feel about him, the kid showed some serious guts. Getting rid of two world champions in Monaco and then actually attempting a third is something to respect, not something to trash...

The stuff about Kimi was an exaggeration, sure, but honestly, it feels like you guys are more bothered by how some blowhard managed to embarrass the maestro while he was caught napping...

If this were happening today, you'd all be treating him like a god just because he slapped Button...
F1 Monaco GP - May 26, 2013 in Formula 1 ·
Emily Patel64 said:everyone is overreacting about that little scrap with Perez🙂

I mean, why didn't he just let him through? He knew exactly who he was dealing with. If you care about the championship standings, you don't go wrestling with Perez in the zone just to act like some tough guy afterward.

Look, Perez didn't stand a chance anyway because...
He dove in like an idiot right when there was zero mathematical possibility of making the pass. There was no room left, and he pulled the move way too late...

That mess with Button was a classic Perez-esque move, similar to how Alonso acts. Even that first incident with Kimi wasn't that big of a deal—he actually had a legitimate shot there. But this last one? Total overkill.
Honestly, I wonder if Kimi could even stomp on the brakes hard enough to let him past even if he actually wanted to...
F1 Monaco GP - May 26, 2013 in Formula 1 ·
Roger Wright94 said:Vettel is even more of a mess.
Look, I like the guy, but I have to call out that absolute nonsense with the fastest lap right at the end.

Both him and the crew are whining and crying about tire degradation, and then suddenly he pulls a lap that's 2 seconds faster at the very finish. So, what does that mean? It means there was plenty of life left in those tires.
Why didn't he just step on it earlier and actually try to fight Rosberg? Instead, he prefers to complain and then proceeds to drive a superior pace on the very tires he was just bitching about.

And what was the point of pushing anyway? Rosberg could have easily clocked a faster lap regardless... honestly, every single time he tried to pressure Rosberg, the German just pulled a faster lap on the very next turn.
We all know that in Monaco, even having a car that's 1 or 2 seconds faster doesn't help much. Plus, Mercedes looked way faster than Red Bull Racing anyway; the real issue is they were driving way slower than they actually could because they were babying their tires...
Even if there had been a legitimate DRS zone, they wouldn't have stood a chance.
Bottom line: a dominant win for Rosberg and Mercedes-Benz.

Red Bull clearly still has massive issues following other cars. Their tires seem fine as long as nobody is in front of them... it looks like other teams don't struggle with that quite as badly.
It was obvious—they were constantly losing ground to the guys ahead...

And it’s a huge question mark how this would have ended if the race hadn't been red-flagged and the tires changed on the grid... personally, I doubt Webber and Hamilton would have even made it to the end on those yellow tires.
Webber pitted early, and Hamilton's tires were already starting to give up on him.
Maybe Rosberg and/or Vettel might have managed, but even that's a massive "maybe"—probably even more of a question mark for Vettel than for Rosberg.🤷
It seems to me like Red Bull is struggling with those soft tires, whereas SS doesn't have nearly as many problems.🤷
All in all, that red flag sent everyone's strategy straight into the trash.

Vettel just pulled that fast lap out of pure spite.😍
Though I suspect he just wanted to mess with Pielli on his way through and indirectly vent... basically making it clear to everyone that they are all driving way slower than they should be because they're terrified of their tires.

Raymond Anderson4 said:You can't just follow the rulebook blindly; you have to account for the track itself.
Not every corner is created equal...
This isn't Germany where you’ve got five meters of runoff on either side. Here, being off by half a meter left or right means you're:
1. In the wall
2. Crashing into your opponent
In Alonso's case, you just have to yield to the other driver, nothing more. That's penalty enough, especially in Monaco.
It drives me crazy reading stuff on Autosport about people demanding pit lane penalties for that—give me a break.

Personally, I think the penalty for Romain Grosjean was ridiculous... 10 places for what???
Go watch the replay and see how and why that collision actually happened.🙄
Daniel Ricciardo is way more to blame for that mess than Grosjean. For Christ's sake, he didn't brake where Ricciardo braked 😳—that was way too much, way too early...
Grosjean simply had zero chance to react... even if the car had a brake light, would it have mattered?

Bottom line: it's nonsense. The guy got penalized just to protect someone's reputation, nothing else.
Kind of like when Checoto got banned from a GP2 race—what was the specific reason for that?
Because of a bad start.🤣

It’s true Checoto is a wild one and should've been banned way earlier, but he should've picked up that penalty before Monaco and shouldn't have even been on the grid.☕

All in all, the stewards in Monaco were a total disaster again.
But the call for Fernando Alonso—telling him to give the position back—was spot on. A pit lane penalty would have been overkill.
After all, Alonso told the BBC that being ordered to give the position back was completely fair.☕

Lotus's Kimi Räikkönen basically said Sergio Pérez deserves a "punch in the face." 😁
Just smash him, Kimi. 🤣
Man, it's been way too long since we saw some actual drama in the paddock. 🤣

I can only imagine what the press conference would've looked like after that...
Reporter: Kimi, did you swing at Pérez on purpose?
Kimi: Nope. 😎
Reporter: But you broke his nose, there's video footage right here.
Kimi: I was just waving at someone from Germany and he just happened to run straight into my hand...

🤣
F1 Monaco GP - May 26, 2013 in Formula 1 ·
Looking back at it, it honestly looks like they were convinced he was about to lap them, so they started moving out of the way too early.🤣
Naletil was driving so fast he practically terrified them. 🙏🤣
Bottas definitely cleared out once he saw that twenty-meter blue flag waving at him.😁

Lawrence Vaughn3 said:Kimi lost control

Actually, they both lost it. 😬
That's true in other spots too—Pérez was right by his helmet.😬

Even if Kimi wasn't here today, he'd be totally innocent; if it were Pérez, he would've definitely copped a penalty.
F1 Monaco GP - May 26, 2013 in Formula 1 ·
Linda Bailey17 said:Exactly. I didn't even realize he grabbed 10th until they showed the standings. The director is such an idiot, just following Rosberg through the entire last lap. Does anyone have a link on YouTube where I can actually see Kimi's overtake??

It was on Sky... honestly, the way he blew past them was insane. 🙏

This isn't like the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa where you actually have room to dodge a crash... back then, Vettel committed a massive rule violation and got slapped with a 25-second penalty.

I get it, you'd love it if Alonso just absolutely wrecked Kimi... 🤣

Aren't 2nd and 3rd place enough for you? Better if Prst and Mark just drive the cars themselves.

Look, kill me now, I can't remember who or when, but I'm positive someone picked up a penalty specifically for the Nouvelle Chicane in Monaco...

In my book, this was the right call.😉
Give back the position you gained illegally and move on. What drives me crazy is how the stewards will give a break one time and penalize someone else for the exact same thing the next.
And it's not specifically about Alonso or him needing some specific penalty, whatever.😉

If you know what I mean.🙂

It's funny how Kimi went on a rant calling Pérez an idiot because he crashed into his car...
He totally forgot he slammed into Adrian Sutil at almost the exact same spot, driving in like a complete moron...😬
F1 Monaco GP - May 26, 2013 in Formula 1 ·
rustycobra32 said:Where on earth did they penalize other drivers for going through the pits if they cut the chicane?
You're totally making things up.

All four wheels off the track... sound familiar?

Brian Campbell36 said:I can't wait for everyone to start trashing Ferrari🤣

It’s wild to me that Ferrari and Red Bull Racing actually teamed up for an official protest against Mercedes, considering how much "regular fans" absolutely loathe each other and constantly stir the pot...

Ideally, Fernando Alonso should have just "crushed" Kimi Räikkönen. Personally, I don't think he even deserved a penalty, but hey, I guess everything is being done to help Sebastian Vettel.🤦

Yeah, right...
I remember plenty of times when drivers got +25 second penalties after a race for gaining an advantage by going off-track... and magically, the FIA never bothered to tell them they had to give the position back or whatever.🙄
The FIA is just so incredibly consistent, aren't they? Not at all.
F1 Monaco GP - May 26, 2013 in Formula 1 ·
Anyway, Kimi's getting flagged by the stewards...
It’s a total toss-up, but apparently he was speeding during the SC...

So those points would be under question even if he hadn't bumped into Sergio Perez...
The kid is a bit of a loose cannon, honestly.🤦
Dammit, you can't just pull the same stunt every single time.🙂
Besides, Kimi isn't exactly an easy target to overtake like some other guys.😁
Whatever, you learn from your mistakes. The kid'll probably go out there and bully whoever he can now.😍

On another note, I'm disappointed with Red Bull again. 🙂
Screw this tire management nonsense—just drive the damn car and push!😠

Also, weirdly enough, Red Bull seems to have more trouble with the softs than the supersofts.😕
What kind of setup is that? Is the SS actually harder than the S?😵

graniteharbor502 said:So, looks like he got the "maestro" penalty. Basically, Sergio Perez just slapped Fernando Alonso

Give me a break.🤣
Other drivers get hit with a pit lane speeding penalty, or Ferrari spends half an hour negotiating whether to give a position back or not.🤦
