Not just today, but in the US too😳
Felipe Massa finally woke up and he's actually driving pretty well this season...
Jason Campbell70 said:Will Sebastian Vettel extend his lead in the standings if he gets penalized? Now that's an interesting thought.

Do the math.🤣

Here’s who we’re looking at:
Kimi, Vettel, Button (I think Button too, if I recall correctly...)

We all know how this goes—a 25-second penalty. Just great.
Updated standings after the penalty:
Alonso.
Hamilton + 12.3
Kimi + 35.1.
Vettel plus 37.5.
Massa was 40.8 seconds off. Just saying.
Button plus 60.2. Honestly, I have no clue who else would even be getting penalized in the points standings.

Overall standings:
Sebastian Vettel 52
02 Kimi Räikkönen 46
Fernando Alonso, 43.
43 | Lewis Hamilton
05 Felipe Massa 32

🤣
It’s incredibly stupid, but honestly, it would be hilarious if Sebastian Vettel just got them all penalized.🤣
Even if they don't penalize Button, he’d still pull ahead by a single point over Kimi—who's sitting in second in the standings. Whether you like that or not is your business.😁)
Congrats to Ferrari 👍
They clearly built a beast of a car, but we'll see if this is just a one-off in China or if they actually have the best machine on the grid😲

Alonso did an amazing job controlling the race👍

Vettel was solid, especially considering that "bad" start and how sluggish Red Bull's pit stops were😢
With even a tiny bit more luck, he could've snagged second; at first, it just looked impossible😢
Still, all in all, it's great. Since China isn't usually their strong suit, and seeing how messy Red Bull looks right now🤦
this turned out pretty damn well🙂

BTW, if nothing else, we still don't know who's replacing Webber if that actually happens...
Vergne probably already signed his own pink slip😢 Daniel Ricciardo was fantastic 👍

All eight drivers currently under DRS investigation have been called to meet with the stewards at 6:15 PM.

🍿

Are you actually excited about Lewis Hamilton catching up to Fernando Alonso in the standings, or just looking forward to Sebastian Vettel extending his lead if they get hit with a penalty?🤣
Webber is out of the pits...
The car is dialed in and ready to hunt. Honestly, I’m expecting Webber to absolutely tear up this track.🙂
Raymond Anderson4 said:Even he’s slowly starting to realize that this whole thing just doesn't make sense.
The top-tier drivers are all here, but like I’ve mentioned before, today’s drivers lack any real grit. They’d probably agree to a race requiring ten pit stops if it meant staying on track.
Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton are actually saying something about it, but everyone else is being pretty quiet.
At the end of the day, it’s about their paychecks. If the money keeps rolling in regularly, they’ll happily take all five stops.

It wasn't just Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton, though. Nico Rosberg, Jenson Button, and Sebastian Vettel were complaining too, and I think there were a few others. Meanwhile, Christian Horner is constantly whining about "tire management."😁
Honestly, it feels like everyone is fed up with this tire drama...

In the end, they'll probably just bring back qualifying tires and let them start on whatever they feel like.

Are we still saying "five laps"? ☕

Tires puncture. Sometimes they just fail for no apparent reason.
What happened to Sebastian Vettel in Dubai back in '11?

I heard on Sky during the Practice Sessions that he’d only done five laps. Just kill him already.😕
Guess I didn't drink enough coffee this morning.🤷
Amanda Kelly said:Qualifying sessions like this aren't even worth watching anymore. Everyone just does one single lap and calls it a day. That old tension—the thrill of seeing who can shave off a hundredth of a second over two or three laps—is dead. To make matters worse, by the final round, half the grid seems more focused on not driving at all than actually competing.
It feels like that hour or hour and a half would be better spent doing literally anything else, whether that's something actually fun, exciting, or just useful.

And someone needs to tell Bernie Ecclestone that we’re done tuning in for qualifying, and his viewership numbers are going to tank because of it. He’s the only one who can deal with these people over at Pirelli. This nonsense with the tires is definitely being done on purpose, dictated by someone behind the scenes.

GP1 is reporting that this was the record for the fewest laps driven in qualifying since this format was even introduced...

Seems pretty obvious to me what that means...
Susan Alvarez94 said:Why is everyone ignoring the obvious? It’s clear that Sebastian Vettel is going to dominate this, while the rest of them were just trying to manufacture some artificial drama to make the race look more interesting. And as for Mark Webber, he’s clearly on another level entirely.☕

If Webber actually starts from the back, he’s got zero chance at a podium. But Vettel starting 9th? He still has a shot.☕

Nico Rosberg:
"With those tires, it's less about how many laps you can go and more about how many corners you'll actually survive!"

Button Quote:
In Q3, we had one car in the garage and two cars just wandering around like 'Miss Daisy'—and yeah, I was one of them.

So, Jenson Button is officially Miss Daisy from now on.🙏 🤣
Amanda Kelly said:Man, you hit the nail on the head there. They really did a number on him. It was so bad, honestly, someone deserves a good smack upside the head for it.
Just look at what the crew is doing to their own driver. Two races in a row now, and this is happening to the guy who was actually supposed to be leading the championship right now.
Either they’re pure villains or just total frauds. It’s honestly hard to believe they’ve managed to pull off three championships in a row.

It's the exact same thing they did last year to the guy fighting for the title...
That's just the Red Bull way. You wouldn't understand.😁
Jason Campbell70 said:I’m not usually one for messages from someone using nothing but emojis, but here’s one for you:
🤦.

That tire is from yesterday, and honestly? It's a punctured tire that Jenson Button managed to make even worse by locking up the wheel.

It isn't just a puncture. That tire basically disintegrated after five laps because of massive degradation and a lock-up during braking... which then caused the puncture.
If it's considered "normal" for a tire to explode after five laps just from heavy braking, then we're all screwed.

Brian Campbell36 said:And pray tell, on what basis are you basing your claims regarding Mark Webber’s massive surge and Sebastian Vettel’s inevitable win? Are they not also racing on these ultra-degradable tires?

In Vietnam Australia, we saw exactly which side—Red Bull Racing or Ferrari—destroys their rubber first. Therefore, I remain an extreme optimist regarding the likelihood of seeing both Fernando Alonso and Massa on the podium tomorrow.

There's a tiny little difference between driving a fuel-heavy car on worn-out softs versus running a light car on fresh softs.
Besides that, there's zero chance someone pits in the first five laps and manages to come back out ahead of the leaders on mediums (let alone fighting for points). You can, however, pit in the last two or three laps and potentially snatch P1.

The only thing that ruins a strategy on mediums is a rainy start or an SC popping up right before they're scheduled to pit.
But if there's no SC during the race, the guys up front on softs have almost no shot at a podium.
The only real way one of the leaders grabs the win is if the teams orchestrate a teammate's pit stop perfectly to trigger an SC right when it suits them—ideally right after they've finished their final stop.
darkmarlin16 said:If Sebastian Vettel actually pulls off a win, I’m officially going on a total social media blackout until the next race.

I'll hold you to that.😁
Brian Campbell36 said:stormybadger8 acting like a single news portal... suggesting Vettel and Mark Webber will take first and second after the race? That is some serious optimism right there. 🙏

Even a doctor couldn't make such optimistic predictions; you're clearly just working in Red Bull marketing, so of course you think everything is perfect. ☕

I find it hard to believe Vettel can actually secure a win—maybe a top five finish at most, but nothing more. And as for your ironic little comment about Fernando Alonso crashing into the back of Kim... isn't that just a sign of how nervous you are that Alonso might actually pull off a victory?

What kind of hollow victory is that, profiting from someone else's misfortune? They’ll probably just go find a way to engineer a "multi-22" situation within Red Bull alongside Bernie Ecclestone to ensure they look better on track.

As I have already stated, I am expecting a victory for Fernando Alonso and a podium spot for Massa.

Don't go expecting too much. You'll only end up disappointed.☕
Just giving you guys an early heads-up: don't go blaming Fernando Alonso when he fails to crack the top five. It’s not his fault if the weather doesn't cooperate. 😉
You can blame the geniuses at Pirelli and Bernie Ecclestone for that one.🙄

These tires have barely done five laps... and that’s if you count the guy who actually had the guts to push them for five.
image
Of course, nobody's talking about this. Everyone's too busy listening to British journalists drone on about Red Bull.
So, drivers are driving like complete garbage instead of focusing on their tires. But hey, that’s totally irrelevant, right? Not at all.
Tyler Bennett5 said:Mark Webber might be the only one with a realistic shot at getting both Force India cars into the pits.
I honestly think Red Bull will find themselves just chasing shadows in those DRS zones.
And it isn't just about Force India—none of the other teams are going to let anyone breeze past them on a DRS run quite that easily.

Not if he starts last. But if they mess with his gearbox or tweak other parts of the car and he starts from the pits, then sure, he might have a chance..
We already saw in Dubai that Red Bull has plenty of top speed to make passes, but clearly, they struggle in qualifying, so they probably don't use it that often...
Mark Webber is starting from the back.
I’m just hoping they let him start from the pit lane with some "minor adjustments"😁 like they did for Sebastian Vettel in Dubai...
neonfalcon16 said:Red Bull 🤦 🤦
Some folks might say there was some kind of outside interference at play here. Either way, that qualifying session was a total disaster.

I mean, look at it...
Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber (plus Button) are basically the only fast ones left with a quick car plus 3 sets of fresh mediums and then an extra set of brand new softs they’ll save for the very end, right when a pit stop only loses them a couple of spots...

The only things that could screw them over are rain at the start or an SC popping out right before they need that final stop...

Otherwise, the strategy is solid.
Looking at the rest of the field on softs, maybe the top three have a slim shot at a podium, but only if they can stay out longer than five laps and build about a 25-second gap over Sebastian Vettel and Button,
which isn't exactly likely... based on what we saw in practice, those guys behind on mediums might actually catch up to them on track before even hitting the pits.😳
With the Softa dropping a full second per lap, they're practically slower than the mediums by lap two or three anyway...

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Mark Webber grabs a podium... regardless of whether he starts from the pits, the back, or 14th...
A possible finish could be
1. Sebastian Vettel
2. Mark Webber
3. Button
I wouldn't be shocked at all.☕
Jason Campbell70 said:Ah, Is it just wishful thinking? Perhaps.. 😍

And I just have to wonder... which absolute genius over at McLaren decided it was a brilliant idea to send Jenson Button out on a tourist lap with a 2:05? 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Red Bull Racing is probably taking a massive beating right now. McLaren absolutely tore them apart. 🙏

By the way, that new avatar actually suits you.🤣

Do you see the kind of trench warfare going on down there? 🤣

No surrender here. ☕🤣

Surrender? Please. We’ll be celebrating Multi 12 by the end of this race.😬
And let's not forget that lovely "f*** you" message Mark Webber sent to Christian Horner.😂

Honestly, I think the big boss needs to hire a psychiatrist just to keep an eye on Horner's mental state.😬
He’s out here claiming the pedal just gave up on him...
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/106698

Since when did he become an expert on what went down with Mark Webber? 🤷
Olivia Martin12 said:MDA... I mean, if your brakes are failing, the pit wall tells you to "save fuel." Brilliant.

Just when I thought I had all the racing codes figured out, they throw another one at me. image

Mark Webber ran out of gas, while Sebastian Vettel claims his brakes gave out. 🤣
