Doesn't matter who wins...
What matters is that the penalty makes zero sense. No matter how you slice it, this incident doesn't justify it...

If he isn't 100% at fault, then why the hell are we punishing him?
If there’s even a shred of doubt about who's responsible—if they want actual racing and aren't absolutely certain Lewis Hamilton is the sole culprit—then for heaven's sake, skip the penalty altogether. 🤔

But if he *is* 100% at fault, then the fact that the stewards gave us this tiny slap on the wrist tells you everything...
We're talking about an incredibly mild penalty for an incident that puts a driver's life at risk and has massive championship implications. A ten-second penalty is basically a pat on the back. 🙄

Taking out your only direct rival for the win and the title, putting them in the hospital, and walking away with just a 10-second penalty is straight-up insane...
Especially when you remember Yuki Tsunoda got slapped with 10 seconds just for clipping a white line while entering the pits...
If that's the standard, we're totally screwed. 🤦

Honestly, this looks like a calculated move by Hamilton rather than a simple racing incident to me...
But the FIA and its stewards have once again proven they are completely out of their depth.
That’s what’s been killing this sport for years. It's not about adding more sprint races or qualifying formats...
It's about referee consistency. You shouldn't be left wondering what on earth they were thinking when they make these nonsensical calls.
Either Hamilton is guilty or he isn't. If he isn't, then shut up—ignore Christian Horner and his crew, grit your teeth, and call it no penalty. If he is, then ignore all the whining from Toto Wolff and his lot, call it out, and hand down a penalty that actually fits the crime. ☕
Anthony Baker84 said:Interesting, but look at what happened with Charles Leclerc—it’s obvious that Lujo went a different way there. And with Max Verstappen, he was actually in an even worse spot than Leclerc. I honestly think Lujo picked this path on purpose regarding Max. The penalty is justified, sure, but does the penalty actually fix the bad call? Not in my book. He should've slapped them with a stop-and-go, not just a time penalty.

Let's be real: if they messed up, it's a 10-second stop-and-go. If they didn't mess up, there shouldn't be a penalty at all. Period.
Anything else is just a pathetic attempt to make Mass look bad in front of Christian Horner and Toto Wolff without actually fixing anything... or maybe they're just trying not to start a riot in the grandstands.
Jason Campbell70 said:From Brazil 2012 until now, Lewis Hamilton has only finished a race due to a crash once. Back in Spain 2016.

(Correct me if I'm wrong.
Feel free to set me straight.
I'm listening.)

That isn't luck.
It's having a smart, calm head on his shoulders.
Probably the most vital skill a driver can have.
Lewis Hamilton has that in spades, which is why he’s the GOAT.

Before you claim it's just about having an ultra-dominant car...🙂
It's pretty interesting that Rosberg and Bottas also had very few crashes during that same stretch...

And it makes perfect sense that Hamilton has even fewer...
Because honestly, if you're regularly starting from pole and driving a car that builds such a massive gap by the first pit stop that you can pit and still come back out in the lead, who the hell are you even going to crash into?
Kimi in the pit lane? 🤔
Or some guy like Nikita Mazepin whom you're lapping every other lap? 🤔

In all reality, there wasn't much opportunity to wreck during those races, and the Mercedes was basically a tank—incredibly tough, and almost nothing would break on it no matter how hard you pushed...

But this is starting to feel a lot like the 2011 season, where Hamilton was constantly clashing with Mass, so I wouldn't be surprised if history repeats itself...
Because unlike Mass, Max isn't exactly known for being calm, and he's definitely not as good at backing off in those spots... plus, we should probably expect a collision with Maksić any minute now.
James Harris34 said:Look, I don't know if you guys have been living under a rock or what, but this is how championships are won. This is how Ayrton Senna took it in 1990, how Michael Schumacher did it in 1994—and I won't list them all here—but honestly, I'm just glad we’re finally getting a real title fight after all these years.

The issue is the FIA and this whole disgrace...
Check out this solid article on the subject:

And yeah, no matter how you slice it, this is a massive embarrassment for the FIA as an organization.
Even if I thought Lewis Hamilton was at fault for the collision...

If he isn't guilty, then why even bother with a penalty?
The guy was shaking in his boots while Christian Horner was screaming in his ear, so sure, they handed out a penalty...

But if he *is* guilty and he rammed a direct championship rival out of the race, then a 10-second penalty is a total joke—not for Lewis Hamilton, but for the FIA.

And honestly, after this, expect Max Verstappen to go right after Lewis Hamilton. I'd bet my life on it.
Thanks to that clown who can barely function because he's terrified whenever Toto Wolff or Christian Horner calls him, and thanks to these incompetent stewards, we might actually end up seeing one of these title contenders—or both—get seriously hurt this season.

This isn't officiating; it's a circus and a complete disgrace.
And judging like this doesn't stop this kind of behavior; it just encourages it.🤦
fadedwalker18 said:Yeah. You nailed it.

Lewis Hamilton basically said, "I don't care about anything, I'm doing my own thing because whatever I do is right."
Other drivers mess up on the track, but today? It’s nobody's fault but theirs.
To top it off, he's actually proud of himself and how he handled things today.

And that's not all—he won't even bother talking to Max Verstappen because why bother?
Plus, he's basically predicting we'll see more of this exact same nonsense later this season...
Jason Campbell70 said:Run the poll first, then you can go wherever the hell you want. 🙂

They'll be waiting on Fortin for that one...
Hamilton 🤦
Man, this interview on NBA League Pass says everything you need to know about his character...👎

I'm honestly better off not saying what I really think about him after that statement...
Gonna go ahead and ban myself for a bit 😵
wiredseal7 said:Yeah, but we obviously have to wait and see what they say. I mean, if he went for a stroll, he should be fine in two weeks, right?

Fernando Alonso went for a stroll too, and two weeks later he was still fine...
Since Max clearly took a massive hit, there's no way the doctors are clearing him to race in Canada.
The only silver lining for Red Bull Racing is that there's a break after Canada, so at least there won't be any more races during the hiatus...
fadedwalker18 said:He looked like he was about to burst out of his skin and fly back home.
It was obvious how wound up and jittery Christian Horner was. He basically wanted to say: stop grilling me, I'm angrier than Helmut Marko.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Red Bull files a complaint over this... maybe even takes it to a civil court.
I'm honestly not sure Max will even race in Canada; it's unlikely the doctors will clear him...

If that hit really was 51G, there's zero chance they let him back on the track...
Last time we saw something like this, I think it was Alonso (wasn't it 46G 🤔) who had to sit out the next race.
fadedwalker18 said:According to FIA rules, they were supposed to pit within 3 or 5 laps, right?

It’s not a stop-and-go penalty, it’s a 10-second penalty...
One of the lightest ones they hand out. The only thing smaller is a 5-sec...☕
Jacob Castillo70 said:He’s out there doing a victory lap while his rival is in the hospital.

Everything you ever needed to know about this so-called "GOAT."

Go to bed, fanboys and losers...

Facts...
I've been pulling for Vettel since he stepped into Formula 1, right from day one...
Defended him when I should have and even when I shouldn't have. 😬
But after seeing something like this? Even I'd disown him. 🤦
fadedwalker18 said:😂 😂

👍

Valtteri Bottas is basically the ultimate F1 wingman, right up there with Rubens Barrichello. Almost on par with Nelson Piquet Jr.—you know, Nelsinho.

Hardly. Rubens doesn't even belong in that conversation. 🤣
With Rubens and Massici, they were told to move out of the way. With Bottas, they literally tell him which lap to take and exactly which corner to dive into, and he executes the perfect move every single time. 🙏

But sure, let's pretend they're all equal teammates. 🙂🤣
Alonso is out here whining while Lando stays dead silent, even though they're both dealing with the exact same thing...
Both situations were totally harmless, by the way...
Jason Campbell70 said:Norris on Alonso's defensive moves:

"There was obviously the weaving, but when he was doing it, I was never close enough for it to be dangerous."

"So, I don’t think he did anything wrong. Some people said he did, but I don’t think he did. He was fine. He just knows the limits of what he can do really, so it’s good. It makes it more exciting for him, for me and for everyone watching so it was a good battle."

That's about it. 🥱

Yeah, that's all there is to it...
Alonso is whining 🙂...
while Lando is just this super sweet, polite kid who speaks respectfully about his elders—especially about grandpas...
fadedwalker18 said:Thank God he isn't a dirty driver. He’s a fighter.
A lot of people are calling him out for weaving on the fast stretches during yesterday's NASCAR sprint race. But he didn't do that while someone was trying to pass him, so you can't really call it a lane change violation. It's not like "the great" Max Verstappen (Belgium, Kimi back in 2017 or 2018?).

Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo were far enough back that he could weave like that without worrying about getting caught in their tow or slipstreaming.

Fernando Alonso is basically just a whiner, even more than Rubens Barrichello...
If anyone else had pulled a move like that, they'd still be crying about it today, if not hearing about it over the team radio through Monday.

I have no clue what we define as a "dirty driver," but honestly, I don't know what could possibly be dirtier than ordering a teammate to crash into a wall just so his buddy can win...
In Formula 1, there is a rock bottom, and it's called Singapore 2008... nothing is filthier than that, at least nobody has come up with a dirtier move yet.
Though I always forget that Alonso has nothing to do with that mess—he was actually an innocent victim in that whole episode. 🙂
Toto Wolff sent out the email, so it's officially over 🙏🤣🤣🤣
wiredcyclist said:I’m not a fan of Lewis Hamilton—the guy’s a total jerk who always ends up in the best cars—but... this time he’s actually right. It was better that he took that line, and Max just lunged right into him. There was nowhere for him to go. Honestly, Max is starting to remind me of Ayrton Senna...

What race are you even watching? 🤦
If Jenson Button, a Briton himself, can sit there stone-faced and claim Hamilton deserves a penalty and had no room to maneuver, then screw that. 🤦
Richard Walker38 said:If they don't penalize him after Russell's call today, the officials are completely incompetent.

They'll probably just let him swap wings and tires under the red flag for free...
darkmarlin16 said:Fernando outmaneuvered him, totally expected ☕
George Russell screwed over Carlos Sainz, he earned that penalty. ☕

I'm with you on Sainz—the Golden Boy definitely wrecked him, though he bounced back pretty well after that...
But you could easily call Alonso the bad sprint Boy 🤣
since it’s a total mystery how he hasn't picked up a few penalties for his usual track wandering. 🤦
Just imagine if Alonso was stuck behind someone driving like that and you were the one commenting on it...
the epic whining over team radio and on this forum would be legendary for the next 100 years. 🤣
says:
That’s true regarding FP. I think they completely missed the mark. Your idea about it being more logical to have the old format—FP1, FP2, then FP3 where the final order sets the grid for the Sprint race and everything else—actually makes way more sense.

Honestly, this is hands down the dumbest decision the higher-ups have ever cooked up...
The only interesting part is that none of the teams had the guts to slap them hard enough to wake them up.

I’m actually surprised anyone even bothered to pull a single lap during that famous FP2, because it’s fundamentally pointless.
You’re out there burning through engines and gearboxes that are supposed to last a specific number of qualifying sessions and races, and the payoff is zero...
Because even if you find a setting that actually suits the car better, you can't touch it before the Sprint race since the car is already under Parc Ferme rules...

So, FP2 in this weekend format is just pure stupidity. You're unnecessarily stressing the engine and the gearbox,
basically just inviting future mechanical failures for absolutely no reason, since any setup changes beyond minor cosmetic stuff are banned by the rules...

In reality, every single team is going to end up with more mileage on their components (FP2 + Sprint) than originally planned...
And later, when someone's gearbox or engine inevitably dies during a race, everyone's going to be screaming about why we even wasted time on that useless FP2 in the first place...
