Edward Howard2 said:They only voted because there was just one rule proposal to pick from, and honestly, because you were sliding into their DMs asking them to vote... otherwise, you wouldn't even have half these votes...
Most people don't even care where the team champions end up... which we saw when I was putting lists together and placing the team champions in the top 8, and nobody besides you said a word... and I built that list after thinking it through seriously while I was basically the reigning champ of almost everything and running the whole show, so I wasn't playing favorites. Meanwhile, you're over here claiming you threw your list together last minute and it might not even be that great... 🤣

Who didn't complain?🤣
Gilbert was complaining, loud and clear, the whole time. He almost quit the Super League entirely because of it.
If I remember right, Paški & Ferk🤣 were also throwing fits way back in the season before last.😁
Rosie was complaining too, if memory serves, along with a few other guys.

Bottom line: I don't recall anyone actually wanting the team champions moved down the list, aside from your own teammates.😛

Anyway, here's the first person who absolutely doesn't need this, and I have zero intention of playing the Super League based on some teammate's merits.😁

What can I even say? Six of this year's super league players voted for a list that doesn't even have the team champions at the top, yet somehow you're the only one pushing back🤷

Besides, plenty of people have been complaining about this for ages.
Once this poll wraps up and you put together a proposed list—if you actually have one—then we'll vote on it:

Your new guy
The old guy
My guy
And maybe whoever else pops up.

Like I said, changing it isn't exactly rocket science after the first race. At least, I don't see it being a big deal.

P. S. That’s how it works under the new rules. Since 6 out of 8 active super league participants voted for them, it's pretty obvious the new rules are hitting this season.😉

P. S. Naturally, the new rules kick in once the poll closes—basically after March 16, 2012, at 10:02 AM.
So if you're sending a response, wait until March 10 or later.😉

Look, you might as well just kill him now before the big explosion hits in two years. Nobody actually remembers who the super league runner-up was, let alone who the champion's teammate was.

Alright, here's what I can recall off the top of my head:
2010 season

Trophy:
ruggedfox28
stormybadger8😍
Jessica Ramos12

Championship:
Jessica Ramos12
Max
stormybadger8😍

Constructors:
Kamikaze GP 😬

Super league
Edward Howard2
Jessica Ramos12 🤔
???
stormybadger8

2nd tournament
Gilberth 🙂
stormybadger8

Who was Jessica Ramos12's teammate in the championship? Honestly, I have zero clue.
And for the record, I don't even know where they finished.🤷

The way I see it, we all have selective memory. We remember our own wins and maybe some stuff from our closest rivals, but for everything else? We're totally clueless.
For the 1st tournament, I haven't got the slightest idea who even made the podium, mostly because I wasn't anywhere near it.🤣

2009 season—all I remember is being on the same team as Sep, everything else is a total blank.😳

Alright, all the offers are in.🙂

Quick little update for you guys.😁
In the first post of this thread, you'll find links to the results for every round. You probably already noticed those, but here's the twist: once I've finished gathering all the offers (which I will, obviously), if you click a link like Round 1 - VN Australia
, it’ll open up a specific post containing all the results.🙂

Right now, that post just contains the offer links. Just click the one you need to respond to, hit quote, and give your answer.🙂

It’s not some groundbreaking invention, but it beats hunting through the whole thread for individual offers. Plus, you can see exactly who you're playing against right away.
Later on, I'll post the full matchups so you know exactly what needs to be done for each round, but honestly, I'm feeling too lazy for that right now.😬

Basically, as the responses roll in, I'll clear out the old links and swap them for the actual answers. Once the race wraps up, the final results go up.🙂

The pre-season debate was pretty thin, so there wasn't even much of a real choice to make when it came to voting.
As for these proposals... look, I'm obviously against moderators stepping in to call the shots, especially when they aren't actually contributing anything to making these competitions better or helping them grow.
Regarding that entry list... we're heading in the wrong direction here. They're messing with the very principles that the super league was built on in the first place. It was founded to be a league for our champions, and that's how it’s worked up until now. But next year? That won't be the case, because some champions won't even get a shot at playing. It won't feel like an "S" tier super league anymore, let alone some elite competition on the subforum.
Honestly, the list was solid from day one. They could have just left it exactly as it was last year, since it had already been tweaked back then anyway.

Just like always, unfortunately.😢
Maybe we should wait until the middle of the season to start arguing about next year's rules.🤷
It's pretty obvious that this just doesn't work during the off-season.

There isn't even a host, really. If I said the hosts were making the calls, it would basically mean I'm the one deciding everything—and honestly, I just don't want that kind of responsibility.
And again, letting everyone argue over every single decision by topic... honestly, it’s just pointless.
Expecting every single player to vote on every little thing that pops up or to weigh in on every major decision is just an illusion. It's unrealistic.
Even when it comes to debating the rules—which, let's be honest, barely happens anyway—you’d think everyone would suddenly find their voice the second a decision actually gets made.

Look, this list isn't exactly perfect since I whipped it up on the fly, but honestly, it’s not like it’s too late to debate it or fix things if I need to.
It’s a little stupid to be doing this after the season has already kicked off, but I guess it's not impossible. There isn't really any massive impact on the current season anyway—at least not until we hit the halfway point.

Honestly, I think that whole thing about the team championship—especially when it’s a lesser one—is just a bad call. He shouldn't even be on the list. Even if he is, there's absolutely no way he should be ranked high up there.
It just doesn't make any sense to have someone playing in the Super League when their individual results are theoretically garbage.
Look, I think it would be pretty ridiculous if I theoretically jumped into the Superleague 2013 just because you won the championship. I finished 10th, yet here I am—the "champion" (if you can even call me that) getting a spot to race, despite not winning a single other thing in any competition.
Honestly, that would be pretty stupid. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to play it, but it’d feel totally lame considering everyone else has pulled off way better results than I have.🤷

The only thing I can think of regarding these team champions/runners-up on the list—if we're talking about making sense of things (looking at the old list)
is that a team championship should only count if that champion also managed to snag at least one decent result from a teammate (better or worse) on this same list. If they’re the only ones who did anything, then just wipe them off the list entirely. 🤷

Because if they couldn't manage to pull off even something like this:
21. a top four finish in a major Formula 1 tournament
22. a top four finish in a minor Formula 1 tournament
23. third place in the precise positioning trophy
24. fifth place in the Formula 1 championship

then I honestly have no clue why a team champion (better or worse) would get to play the Super league, while someone like a tournament finalist or a runner-up from the championship or Superleague wouldn't deserve it.

darkmarlin16 said:I voted for the "new rules with amendments"

And honestly, it was all because of this:
9. If a competitor fails to respond to an offer or sends their response after the deadline, their opponent automatically gets the maximum number of main and total points, which is: 2 main points and 15 secondary points.
If a competitor doesn't send a response during the third round of the competition, or somehow submits an invalid response, and there's reasonable suspicion that they're doing it just to help another competitor move up the ranks, a penalty will be issued not just for them, but also for the competitor who gained the point advantage from that action. The penalty will be decided by the tournament directors and the F1 subforum moderators through a majority vote.

Look, you seriously can't go punishing someone for winning just because their opponent failed to send an offer, a response, or whatever else.

What if that winner had absolutely no clue their opponent was intentionally throwing the match to help them out?

Like, let's say you and ruggedfox28 are tied going into the final round, and I'm playing against ruggedfox28 and I decide to intentionally skip my prediction just so she wins—you'd actually strip her of the victory just because I did that behind her back without her even knowing? That's ridiculous. 🤷

Look, there's a massive difference between someone winning because you missed a reply (where only you get penalized) and two people actually colluding (where both should get hit).

Sure, proving collusion is a nightmare, and honestly, what even counts as proof?
But obviously, nobody's getting banned unless everyone* agrees and we're all certain it was a setup.
By "everyone*", I mean everyone responsible for making these calls—all the league admins and the moderators of this entire site.

My take? Penalize those cases only if there's a consensus. Same goes for punishing the guy who missed a response; you penalize him, but leave the winner alone if they weren't part of any shady deal and are totally innocent.

To me, that's the only realistic way to handle it.🤷
Honestly, I don't even expect we'll need to hand out punishments, but the rulebook needs to cover our bases regardless.
Reddit F1 Super League 2012 in Formula 1 ·
So, you got some genius suggestion for a list that’s actually perfect and won't need any tweaks? 🤷
I put this one together pretty fast. It’s not like I had massive issues with the old version, but the whole thing with the constructors' champions and the betting pool always bugged me a little.

It’s not like I can’t live with them on the list 🤣
But some people sure loved to complain about it 😳
Even so, it always ends up being the same deal—people whine about it depending on who the constructors' champion is and how their other results look.
When you look at that betting pool, it’s honestly kind of stupid having it on the list, but it was never really an issue because Max always wins it anyway since he gets into the league through some other competition, so it’s like it isn't even there.

Bottom line, we should probably make a "one and done" version, but god forbid we have a sensible debate about the rules before the season starts . Every single year, we get stuck arguing over totally mindless stuff like table colors 🙂
While when it comes to the important things, like the actual rules or the commissioner, there's never any intelligent discussion. 😢

Plus, since most of it boils down to how much moderators get to meddle in keeping things consistent, I feel like the real voices we need to hear are the racers who *aren't* mods—you know, seeing if they actually want the admins breathing down their necks during the race. But whatever, the majority is backing the new rules, so I guess I am too.

Look, the change regarding how the super league fills up is pretty huge. The rest mostly boils down to how the competition is run, which isn't a big deal, but that entry list itself has been overhauled, and that’s no small thing.😳

And point 12... I don't even have access to that email, so I have no clue who signed up or didn't, or who even has access to that inbox.🤷
If I'm not mistaken, Jessica Ramos12 posted that, though I doubt he even remembers the password for that email account🤷

Generally speaking, I’m on board with the new regulations, with one glaring exception regarding point 9. Specifically, this part: "but for the competitor who gained a points advantage through such an action, the penalty will be determined by the tournament directors and the F1 subforum moderators via a majority vote."

That clause is problematic. It creates a loophole where someone with absolutely nothing to lose could intentionally sabotage a leader at the top of the standings.

Furthermore, I believe we should scrap the team championships entirely, though moving them down the priority list is at least a step in the right direction.🙏

Look, I get it—that part of the rulebook isn't exactly pretty. But MAXYMA wrote it for a reason. I purposefully added that it requires multiple people to decide, meaning all the directors and mods have to weigh in. That way, they can actually figure out if someone was being a jerk on purpose or if it was just an accident.

Still, tossing the whole thing out would be stupid. The possibility of someone cheating exists, and we've dealt with stuff like this before.

Sure, it's incredibly hard to prove who's actually at fault, or even if anyone is guilty at all. 🤷
But it's also pretty idiotic to have zero plan in place for when things go sideways.

Here’s the rule proposal and the poll. Get voting. 🙂

- Old Rulebook (2011) - part 1, part 2
- Manager's proposed rules for 2012

I need everyone playing in the super league this season—or anyone on the reserve list—to cast their vote.
If you have an idea for a rule change, go ahead and vote, but be specific about what actually needs fixing.
If you’re backing someone else's suggestion, vote along with them and just mention in the thread that you agree with their changes.

If you aren't playing this year but still have an idea, feel free to post it or vote, but let's be real: the deciding votes belong to the guys actually playing in the super league this season, since the rules are mainly for them.
I’ve highlighted all the changes from the old rules in blue.

The poll closes in 6 days. We need these rules locked in before the first offer goes out.

1. The Reddit F1 super league is an invite-only showdown featuring the top eight heavy hitters from last season's various forum competitions. If anyone decides to flake out, the next person on the leaderboard from last year steps up to fill the slot. For those wondering who actually secured a spot for next season, check the rule under point 15. The race director is handling all official results and standings here in this thread. The moderator will be copying everything over to the first page to keep things organized, while everyone else stays busy posting their updates and playing the F1 super league.

2. Here’s how the league works: competitors face off in head-to-head duels from start to finish. It’s a triple round-robin setup based on a random draw and a pre-set schedule. During the first two rounds of the super league, everyone makes an offer to everyone else. In the third round, things change—offers are based on merit, meaning your standing at the end of the second round dictates your matchups. Basically, if you actually perform well, you get an easier path through the final stretch.

3. Here’s how the competition works:
The person setting the offer has until midnight on Tuesday of the race week. They submit five sets of picks with no limits, but here’s the catch: they don't actually pick the drivers themselves. Instead, their opponent does that by bolding five favorites they think will finish higher, then marking them with a 1 or 2 next to the pair. This has to be done at least ten minutes before qualifying starts on Saturday. Any drivers not explicitly marked automatically become the offer setter's favorites.

4. Once the race wraps up, drivers pick up these extra points:
Winning a duel where nobody retires gets you 3 points.
Winning a duel where the loser DNF's? That’s a solid 2 points.
Winning a duel when the loser didn't even start the race? That's worth 1 point.
An unresolved duel where both drivers DNF or fail to start—they both walk away with 1 point.

5. Once we tally up all those extra points from the pairings, the main points get handed out like this:
Beating an opponent's offer - 3 points
Winning on your own bid—that’s 2 points in the bag.
Unresolved duel – they both walk away with 1 point.

6. Here’s how we determine the overall league standings:
Look, it's simple: the guy with more main points is the better competitor. Period.
If there's a tie after we apply rule a), the tiebreaker goes to whoever holds the higher margin of secondary points. Simple as that.
If there's a tie after step B, the tiebreaker goes to whoever scored more head-to-head points during their two or three matchups.
If there’s a tie after step C, the tiebreaker goes to whoever has the better head-to-head record from those two or three matchups. Simple as that.
If there's a tie after step D, the tiebreaker goes to whoever racked up more total wins. Simple as that.
If we end up in a tie after step E, the tiebreaker goes to whoever snagged more individual pair wins. Simple as that.
If there's a tie after step f), the winner is whoever managed to snag more secondary points. Simple as that.

7. You can drop your bid as soon as the last race wraps up. The official deadline is Tuesday at midnight during the week of the next race, but let’s be real—there aren't any actual penalties for missing it. If you send your bid at 12:01 AM on Wednesday, we’ll still count it. However, if you miss the window, your previous bid from the league stays active, and your opponent gets to respond to that one instead. If they don't reply to the old bid before a new one hits the table, they have to deal with the new one. If you fail to send a bid within the first two rounds before an old one even exists, or if you're so late that your opponent doesn't have time to counter, your opponent automatically gets the max payout: 3 main points and 15 secondary points. Also, if you miss the deadline and your opponent is logged in or posting on Reddit F1 super league before qualifying but ignores your late bid, you get the full points—as long as your bid was posted at least an hour before their response window closed.

8. If a competitor fails to submit a new offer or a response for three races in a row, they’re out. Automatic disqualification from the super league, provided there's a backup racer ready to step up. If we do activate a reserve, they take over the disqualified person's remaining schedule, but don't get to touch their points. Sorry, that's just how it works.

9. If a competitor misses the deadline or just ignores the first offer entirely, their opponent walks away with the full haul: 2 main points and 15 secondary points. Simple as that.
If a racer fails to submit an answer during the third round, or if they turn in some nonsense response, and we catch them intentionally trying to boost someone else's score, there's going to be trouble. Both the offender and the person getting the unearned advantage will face penalties. The league directors and the F1 subforum moderators will hammer out the punishment together via a majority vote.

11. If everyone agrees, competitors can swap home venues for any reason during the first round. If they go that route, those swaps automatically carry over to the second round based on the original schedule, ensuring everyone gets one shot at making an offer. Once we hit the second and third rounds, the venue swaps are off the table. Also, just to be clear, you can't touch the pairing schedule once it's been drawn before the competition starts.

12. Look, here's the deal: you can only post your predictions using the exact username you used to sign up for the competition. The only exception is if an admin steps in and changes it on their end. If you've been banned, you aren't totally out of the running—you can still play, but you have to submit your entry or response through a formal report on your banned account, which the moderator will then manually move over to the main thread. If you don't follow that process, you’re disqualified. Simple as that.

13. Race standings are calculated based on whatever results the FIA drops immediately after the checkered flag—either during the TV broadcast or those first unofficial, uncorrected results posted on their official website. Once those numbers are out, they're final. Any later corrections made by the FIA? Doesn't matter. We don't take them into account. When it comes to determining which drivers dropped out, we stick to those initial FIA results that specify exactly who failed to finish. Otherwise, per standard FIA rules, a driver is considered to have retired if they complete less than 90% of the race distance. As for the race itself, the total number of laps is whatever the FIA decides it should be, whether through their regular protocol or some sudden emergency decision.

14. Once you submit your picks, that's it. If the FIA makes a ruling—whether it helps you or screws you over—you aren't allowed to change your bet just because the outcome shifted. Same goes if the FIA drops a decision that hurts your opponent after you've already locked in your top five favorites; no mid-game changes allowed. Also, if you already know what the FIA or a specific team is going to decide before you even place your bets, you better factor that in. This specifically applies to drivers who have already been officially ruled out of a race. You can't bet on someone who isn't even racing. If you try to sneak them in, you'll face sanctions, which basically means handing your opponent the win and a maximum point haul.

15. Here’s how we’re filling out the F1 super league next year:
15. Next year's F1 super league seeding order:
1. F1 super league champion
2. F1 championship winner
3. Winner of F1 tournament 1
4. Winner of F1 tournament 2
5. Accuracy trophy winner - overall
6. F1 championship runner-up
7. F1 super league runner-up
8. F1 betting winner
9. Finalist of F1 tournament 1
10. Finalist of F1 tournament 2
11. Third place in F1 championship
12. Accuracy trophy winner - championship
13. Third place in F1 super league
14. Third place in F1 tournament 1
15. Third place in F1 tournament 2
16. Accuracy trophy winner - tournament
17. F1 championship team champion (better side)
18. Fourth place in F1 championship
19. Fourth place in F1 tournament 1
20. Fourth place in F1 tournament 2
21. Second place in accuracy trophy - overall
22. F1 championship team champion (worse side)
23. Fifth place in F1 championship
24. Fifth place in F1 tournament 1
25. Fifth place in F1 tournament 2

The "better" teammate is whoever scored more points.
Whoever finishes dead last in the F1 super league loses 5 spots in next year's seeding across all competitions they placed in this season. The guy finishing second to last loses 3 spots in their best placement among other competitions.

16. This rulebook kicks in once posted in the Super League rules and results thread. We might tweak things later if we realize the current setup is a mess and needs fixing to keep the league running smoothly.
If some weird situation pops up that isn't covered by these rules, a special committee made up of all the admins and moderators of this sub-forum will make the call.

Today is the final deadline for sign-ups 😳

Just a heads-up on who hasn't signed up yet:
8. Sheldon
1. reserve - Joshua Newman2

If they don't show up, the 2nd reserve moves into 8th place:
2. reserve - Jessica Ramos12

Joshua Newman2 already knows the drill anyway. I tried reaching out to Sheldon via PM a few times, but unfortunately, he hasn't been active on the boards since October 2011.🤷
New subforum for the lit forum? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
rapidnomad7 said:You could apply that logic to pretty much anything. Like, who else actually cares about Formula 1? I’m pretty sure more people are interested in American Literature than some bunch of helmet-wearing maniacs driving in circles on asphalt. What is there even to see? What is there to talk about? Only about ten people on Earth care about a topic like that, yet there's an entire subforum dedicated to it under the sports section. A whole subforum. Seriously.

God, what nonsense.🤦
In the US, maybe 250,000 to 300,000 people watch Formula 1, and that's just on local broadcast television.😳
The rest watching via satellite or IPTV don't even count, and there are plenty of them.
Globally, we're talking over 500 million people. 🙄

If you want an example of a subforum that exists without any logic or actual visitors, this one would be it.😁

Although I agree with the idea of a new literature pdf 👍
And I don't see any downside to it—just pure benefit.🙂

darkmarlin16 said:So, I'm asking you, what was his logic for pairing them up like this? 😉

You totally dodged my question 😠

Look, there's actually a Berger table for all that ☕

Look, I didn't pick them. Those were the pairings for 2010 and 2011 based on Max's schedule.
I just set up round 20 so everyone ends up with 3 offers and 3 answers.

Though, I'm pretty sure we'll end up with 19 races again, just like back in 2010 and 2011.
