Here I am. Fine, I promise I won't mention Fernando Alonso.😁

BTW, seriously boring race.🙂

Dammit, if it weren't for the SC, they probably would've lapped everyone down to 2nd place.

Anyone got a clue why they penalized Lewis Hamilton again?😕

And did you see how pissed Felipe Massa was? Good lord, he absolutely lost it during his interview with BBC.🤣 "It's all nonsense, it's all absolute nonsense."🤣 He might as well have said Lewis Hamilton nearly killed him.🤣

jebote, I don't even like Lewis, he's not my guy, but this penalty is incredibly stupid. Massa is definitely taking over the No1 civil servant spot at Ferrari.🤦

Paul di Resta 🙏 👍

Or is it just that boring you're already scrolling through the forums?😂

Just finished watching it.
🤣
Right as I was typing this, I finally hit record on the replay.

I was talking about him being in the loop when he goes off track.😁
Because if he pulls it off, Jenson Button might actually have a shot at passing Sebastian Vettel and shaking things up a bit.

By "something," I mean if you don't manage to set at least one timed lap, you should drop five spots in the standings.
If that's the case, they can go ahead and baby those tires all they want.

I think there was some talk about introducing tires used exclusively for qualifying next season—basically ultra-fast rubber designed for just one or two laps.

Races would still be run on the current sets, obviously using new ones rather than what they used in qualifying.

No clue where I heard 🤷 but I think it was from the BBC and some interview with people over at Pirelli 🤔

Brian Campbell36 said:What is emphasized here is precisely what matters most: tomorrow’s starting position will be absolutely critical for Mark Webber.
It stands to reason that Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton could have easily overtaken Mark Webber if the circumstances had been even slightly different.
How can one even begin to quantify the sheer dominance displayed by Sebastian Vettel today? It was nothing short of phenomenal. He operated on an entirely different plane of existence compared to the rest of the field, leaving his competitors trailing in his wake while simultaneously outclassing his own teammate, Mark Webber, with effortless precision.

It’s tough. That track is just brutal, and Jenson Button had a pretty lousy start—not quite as bad as Mark Webber, but still bad. Usually, he manages to claw back some positions within the first couple of laps, but that initial launch was nothing special. Personally, I think Ferrari is the bigger threat here, even if they're trailing behind.😳

It’s like they have some secret cheat code for the start. Massa and Alonso are just on a completely different level than everyone else when the lights go out.

Brian Campbell36 said:Since Ferrari isn't doing anything to disrupt the plans of the "beverage giant," McLaren actually stands a much better chance here.
Webber is likely to drop a few positions in those first few hundred yards after the launch anyway.

Same goes for Jenson Button.

Chris Ortiz said:That’s just how it works. If we can pull off a clean overtake on Mark Webber right at the start, we’ll have the entire race to hunt down Sebastian Vettel, rather than desperately clawing our way into second place around lap 40 while sitting fifteen seconds behind him.☕

If he manages to find an opening after the lights go out, he’s going to blow past that kid, even if his car is half a second slower overall.☕

Both Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa are going to run right over him.☕
Singapore Grand Prix - Sep 25, 2011 in Formula 1 ·
Brian Campbell36 said:I find it utterly difficult to believe that Mark Webber will ever be anything more than a supporting player. I would sooner bet on him losing several positions right at the starting lights than expect him to pose any genuine threat to Sebastian Vettel’s dominance. It is painfully obvious that the entire team is structured to serve Vettel's interests alone.
It seems inevitable that 2011 will be the year he secures his second world championship title. 🙂

First, Vettel’s gonna jump ahead of Webber, so Red Bull Racing can just grab that 1-2 finish in the drivers' championship.☕

Finally, Mark Webber might actually get a decent start for once.

So I actually experienced getting a ban lifted along with an apology. Honestly, why is anyone even surprised?🤷

The way I see it, the whole point is to file an appeal that’s actually reasoned and civil. If you got flagged unfairly—like if the moderator totally misread what you were trying to say—just calmly explain your intent and why the penalty doesn't make sense.😉 There's at least a 75% chance🤷 they'll roll it back. Of course, if you start the whole process by being a jerk and insulting the moderator, the other users, or whoever else, then there's a 99.99% chance you won't just stay banned, you'll probably get hit with a brand new one too.

I don't get why people find this so confusing. It’s baffling to me, really.🤷

Basically, it’s perfectly normal to expect that if you treat someone with respect, they'll return the favor. Sure, there are exceptions, but you should always start with the assumption that decent, civilized communication is actually possible, rather than assuming the opposite.🤷

nimblesurfer17 said:I wasn't talking about the main reason, just the most significant role... which is actually quite a distinction.
And regarding roles: since you mentioned that Adrian Newey has been at Red Bull since 2006—throwing out all those points totals that support Vettel—and pointed out that Newey was at McLaren and they didn't achieve anything useful there, I think it's clear you were implying that Vettel played the leading role in all of this. I have to disagree, though... he played an important role, sure, but not the leading one.
Anyway, it doesn't matter—this thread is supposed to be about Singapore, so let's get back to that.
Unfortunately, I don't have a great feeling about how things will go for Kamui Kobayashi and Nico Rosberg...

Alright fine, let's just say we weren't on the same page and leave it at that.🙂

Hmm, why? Personally, I think Kamui Kobayashi could be really, really good here. Plus, this track should suit Sauber perfectly, right?🤷

nimblesurfer17 said:Look, you really can't just look at it in such a straight line...
For instance, the budget factor plays a massive role in Formula 1...
When they first bought the team, they had to build everything from scratch—get the right people in place, secure the right engines...
And all of that comes with a price tag.
They were constantly building up their capital; in that first season, Red Bull had about $58 million, which then climbed to around $80 million per season... and they maintained that level until, well, 2009, when the budget jumped to $109 million—plus they invested 20% more into developing the race car for 2009 compared to the previous year.
We also shouldn't overlook the compound effect of having that money—I mean, there's a huge difference between dropping $50 million into a team that hasn't found its footing yet versus pouring $110 million into an organization that’s already been finely tuned for a while now.
Having a bigger budget than McLaren is no small feat...
Of course, Vettel played his part, but claiming he was the main driver behind it all feels like a bit of a stretch—especially in today's era of Formula 1.

It wasn't the primary reason, whoever told you that 🤦, but damn it, it's not insignificant like some people claim either.☕

This season, he's the one responsible for the results—way more than last year. I don't care what anyone says, he's only got two other podiums this season, and just five third-place finishes in a dominant car where Vettel has 8 wins and 12 total podiums.

If last year's title contender only grabbed 7 podiums in total, the car is the only reason Vettel won the championship. Think whatever you want, 🙄
Singapore Grand Prix - Sep 25, 2011 in Formula 1 ·
Look, as for Vettel's dominance, let's be real—Red Bull Racing's stranglehold on this is pretty obvious if you just look at Mark Webber's results.🤷

And as for McLaren... 👍

I’ve been saying since day one that they would’ve been serious title contenders—maybe even champions—if they’d actually given Jenson Button a shot and treated him like their number one driver. You could see that potential right from the season opener.☕

The only important difference compared to last year is that Ferrari is an even bigger disaster than before, though Alonso is driving way better. You can tell by looking at Felipe Massa.😳

Zero podiums in 2011 (best finish was 5th) versus five podiums in 2010 and being close a few other times.

Basically, Alonso is largely responsible for keeping them in the game because he dragged in a mountain of points for McLaren, but even then, Vettel in the Red Bull was just too fast for him to catch up.☕

redviper32 said:When I mentioned Adrian Newey, I was really thinking about the entire Red Bull Racing setup. I mean, Sebastian Vettel’s contribution there is just massive, isn't it? Not just because of how he drives, but also because of all that technical feedback he gives the engineers while working right alongside Adrian Newey. Honestly, if you put Vettel and Fernando Alonso in the same car, I don't even know who I'd put my money on!

As for this whole dominance thing, I'm just not a fan of it, not even when it's Ferrari. It would be so much better if everyone was actually competitive, you know? It sucks when teams get put in a spot where the championship is basically decided by the 6th, 7th, or 8th race of the season. I really think it might be ideal if they let teams do more testing during the season again, just so everyone can stay in the fight and actually compete at their absolute best until the very end.

To be honest, even I'm not enjoying this level of dominance from Vettel.

I agree with everyone, including the point about testing, though I worry about the backlash. Bringing testing back might actually backfire and make the dominance even more obvious and crushing.

redviper32 said:Oh, sure! It’s always the same story—just when they think they’ve finally gained an edge on everyone else, Newey shows up and somehow manages to pull ahead by two full steps. And honestly, it just seems to happen season after season (okay, maybe not *that* many years, but it definitely feels like 😁 to me)

But hey, what can you do? I find myself hoping for a miracle next season just as much as I hope my favorite baseball team won't blow a lead in the bottom of the ninth during the playoffs, though we all know how that usually goes... nothing ever changes. 😬

I guess I just can't help being an optimist. 🙂

2006: Adrian Newey joins Red Bull Racing - 16 points in the season (7 total)
2007 Red Bull Racing - 24 points (5 total)
2008 Red Bull Racing - 29 points (7 total)
2008 Sebastian Vettel in Red Bull Racing - 35 points☕
2009 Red Bull Racing - 153.5 points (2 total)
2009 Sebastian Vettel in Red Bull Racing - 84 points (2 total)

We know the rest; it wasn't even that long ago.🙂

Besides, Ferrari dominated for years, so now it's their turn to sit back for at least a decade. If someone else is going to take the crown from them, I'd much rather it be Williams Racing or McLaren.🙂
Singapore Grand Prix - Sep 25, 2011 in Formula 1 ·
I don't know what you're talking about. Give me something real to work with. kaže:
Oh, please. At this rate, people are going to start acting like Sebastian Vettel was the only reason we even won championships.🤣
Arguing that Adrian Newey isn't the greatest genius in Formula 1 is just pointless.
I get that you have to downplay everyone else just to make Sebastian Vettel look good, but let's not get carried away.😬

Look, he deserves a massive chunk of the credit, and that’s a fact. ☕

Since when has Adrian Newey actually been at Red Bull Racing? And where on earth was the team before they brought Sebastian Vettel on board?

Look, I’m not saying Adrian Newey isn't a genius, but even a mastermind can't work his magic if the drivers aren't giving him decent feedback.☕
And we can all see that ever since Vettel joined Red Bull Racing, that car just keeps getting faster every single year.

Of course Vettel had luck on his side. Honestly, he was lucky to have David Coulthard in that Red Bull RB4 back in 2008. If it wasn't for him, Red Bull Racing would probably be a total joke right now. 😬
