Keith Rodriguez27 said:Who says I think Alonso, Hamilton, or the old man are superstars? 🤷 They're all just okay in my book, it's just that Vettel is a bit less likable to me because he's inherently more annoying and because—not just from you—he gets hyped up way more than he deserves. The others actually have some backing for that praise, like, you know, winning championships. As for the forum, of course I read other users (and they aren't miles away from you in their views), but you're one of those whose posts I notice most, and since your writing style isn't wrapped in fancy cellophane, your "praises" carry the furthest.

so who do you even root for😕

Out of the top 5 still in the title hunt? Nobody. Some are more likable than others, but honestly, I wouldn't care who takes the title in the end. From the rest of the field, I'm rooting for Nick Heidfeld, and I also like Robert Kubica and Adrian Sutil.

So basically, three out of your five favorites are the same as mine.👍

I don't know, none of this makes sense to me. You've got the McLaren camp—meaning Hamilton—the Ferrari camp, then the Alonso camp (which logically should be the same thing, though I doubt it), plus a lost Seb over at Williams, myself, and obviously Phil and his obsession with MSC. That's pretty much the whole lineup.

But now I really don't get how you guys claim to be neutral.😕

When I defend Vettel during the Webber-Vettel Turkey situation, suddenly Vettel is the undisputed villain and Webber is the hero, and I'm clearly being totally biased.

But when everyone starts squawking about how Webber is an idiot and Hamilton is just some poor collateral damage from crazy Webber, then that's perfectly fine, right?😕

Look, the reason I didn't even argue about it is because it's been obvious for a long time that there's zero point in debating it. Honestly, I just don't have the energy anymore.☕

Jason Campbell70 said:Even if I can't wrap my head around that little Spanish guy with his perfectly groomed eyebrows, you have to admit: he’s currently the best driver on the grid.

Alonso is definitely the guy at the moment. No question about it.👍

But then again, just five races ago, he was easily the worst of the top five. What are we even doing here?🤷

Our criteria for greatness are completely broken.🤣
One bad race or two and suddenly the driver is washed up, useless, and finished.
Then, one teammate lets him past, he has one disaster of a race, follows it up with three great ones, and boom—suddenly he's the greatest of all time again.🙏

We're honestly worse than our own sports journalists when they cover the national teams.🤣
One morning they're world-beaters and the greatest generation ever, then the next day after a loss, they're just a bunch of lazy, talentless, low-tier athletes.🙄

redheron12 said:I actually started writing a post where I was taking your side and defending Sebastian Vettel... and I finished the whole thing, only for the thought to cross my mind that Sebastian Vettel is just a total jerk after all🤣

Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso are real men.🤣

Even if that were true, what does any of that have to do with how he drives or Formula 1 in general?😕

Keith Rodriguez27 said:Exactly because of this. You've all made him so freaking nauseating on this forum (especially you) with your endless excuses and mile-long posts that I can't even bring myself to root for him.
Plus, the guy himself just rubs me the wrong way. On top of that, I don't think he’s got what it takes to be a champion right now—especially not with the crew he's running with.

😕 then how on earth can you even watch Formula 1 or Fernando Alonso on screen?🤣
If someone here is acting like a saint just because they climbed into a car at the start and then defended him with such insane logic that it makes your head spin, that's Alonso. We aren't much further off from Lewis Hamilton anyway.😬

No need to even mention dedin.🤣

And out of everyone, Vettel is the one who disgusts you because of the excuses?🙄
Look, Keith Rodriguez27, stop talking nonsense.

I seriously don't get this "I'm gonna kill him" comment of yours.🤷
The only explanation is that you only read my posts and have everyone else from this thread on Ignore.🤣
It's true, I can be a jerk sometimes and say some pretty nasty stuff, but I'm definitely not the only one, and I'm certainly not the worst.

So, who are you even rooting for?😕

That’s exactly what I wrote just the other day. 😁

I'm pulling for Mark Webber, so I guess next year I'll just be sitting here complaining about how yet another mediocre driver managed to snatch the championship. 😁

Like I said, next season it'll be Jarno Trulli's turn 🤣 finally clinching a championship in that absolutely elite Lotus. That would definitely be the peak of everything after the mess we've seen over the last few seasons.🤣

I'm also pretty confused by the Vettel haters.🤷

As a driver, he’s undeniably talented. As for the mistakes? Well, I suppose even much more experienced drivers make just as many errors and silly blunders.

As a person, though, I actually find him to be one of the most likable guys out there. He seems like a genuinely sweet person (I've watched quite a few of his interviews everywhere)—a little charming, energetic,😁 and just a total optimist, if you ask me.🙏

Actually, especially considering how young he is, the amount of humility he shows after everything he's been through is surprising. All those "unfortunate coincidences" or the mess caused by his team's immaturity... I imagine someone like Denis Hemić or Fernando Alonso would have reacted differently in that situation.🤣

I honestly think Alonso would have absolutely lost it if he were getting attacked this much, if Felipe Massa was doing to him what Mark Webber does to Vettel, if his car broke down this often, or if his team made this many brainless decisions. 🤦

Seriously, if Alonso had gone through what Vettel went through this season, he would've told off Massa, Ferrari, and every single Italian on the planet. 🤣🤣

No need to explain Hamilton; he falls apart the second a title is within reach. The bigger the chance, the harder he cracks.
Honestly, the best thing for him would be for McLaren to wrap him in bubble wrap after every race, cut off all his info, and tell him the FIA stripped his points from the last race just because they don't like his buddy Nicol. 🤣
I swear, if they did that, he'd literally wipe out the entire competition. He'd sweep the floor with them. 👍
He's a great driver, but it sucks that he jumped straight into MCM without ever really growing up or dealing with some actual life lessons. That's been his curse his whole career. ☕

Keith Rodriguez27 said:If I have to pick between Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, it's definitely Webber. Out of the other title contenders, Jenson Button is the only one I actually like more than Webber, but as for those other two, I'm not so sure.

I honestly don't get what people have against Sebastian Vettel.

He rolled up to McLaren in a car that was basically a rolling trash can, yet he still pulled off a masterclass season in 2008. Honestly, I can't remember anyone else looking that damn good in a mid-field—if not bottom-tier—car. And the guy never once trashed his team, even though he had every reason to. Between the mechanical failures and the sheer stupidity from the crew over the last three seasons, he’s dealt with more headaches than Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, and Fernando Alonso combined during that same stretch. Yet, not once did he run his mouth about them. Not even a word.

Honestly, I don't think anyone else—not even Fernando Alonso—has ever made such a massive impact while driving for a mid-tier team.

Mark Webber never actually showed what he was capable of until he finally got a fast car under him. Before that, all he really had to offer was his massive ego, a stubborn streak a mile wide, and an absurd amount of luck whenever he decided to force things.🤷

Honestly, him winning the title would be just like when Rubens took it last year—or maybe more like Jenson Button’s run. It’s almost cute because we're watching an average driver at the tail end of his career finally show some life. After years of grinding just to scrap for a single point here or there, he’s suddenly in the hunt for a championship. I get it. It’s nice to see a mid-tier guy suddenly become the big shot. I guess people just need to inflate their own expectations, hoping that one day they might stumble into something huge out of nowhere too.🤷

People love to claim Sebastian Vettel is washed up, spoiled, or just plain desperate this season. Honestly? Give me a break. The guy’s made maybe two or three driving mistakes all year. That's about it.😕

If we’re really going to try and compare his nonsense to Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso, then he’s basically a preschooler compared to those guys.☕

The only ones I can't stand are:
Jenson Button? Honestly, I think he’s a total pushover. He can’t put on any pressure, can't even attempt an overtake—nothing. Then you’ve got Mark Webber, who's driving two seconds slower than the leaders while running on tires that are basically disintegrating. He’s such a soft target that they let the other guys bully him just so their golden boy can stay the Number One star.🙄
I honestly don't get how you can just let this slide without a single word of protest. You're letting Mr. Perfect delete stuff immediately without even putting up a fight. Honestly, even Felipe Massa seems like he'd be more likely to stand his ground and say, "Hey, hold on, I'm not some puppet you can just push around," than Jenson Button is.🤦

Lewis Hamilton? Please. He’s such a spoiled brat. He shows up whenever he feels like it, then acts all innocent with that smug little grin, claiming he never meant any harm. Oh, and let's not forget how he suddenly got handed a top-tier car and total, undivided support from the entire team. Despite all that, he barely scraped by to win a title—literally at the very last second. When the pressure is actually on, he crumbles like a cheap cookie. Look, I get it, the kid has style and occasionally drives like an absolute beast, but seriously? What kind of idiot pulls stunts like that when the championship is on the line? It’s just not normal. If he had a 100-point lead with five races left, would that even be enough for him?🤣
I’m not even joking—I saw those two retirements coming a mile away. I was 100% sure everything would go sideways. Honestly, I don't see him pulling off more than maybe two decent races before the season ends; everything else is just going to be a disaster. It wouldn't even surprise me if he finishes ahead of Jenson Button in the standings by the end of the year.

As for Fernando Alonso—sure, he’s on a massive run right now, but I can't stand this whole "everyone in the team has to be his servant" thing just so he can actually drive a decent car.🙄 This season has been pathetic for him. To be blunt, he only looks competent once the entire team sides with him and turns Felipe Massa into a complete joke. Before that, Alonso was nowhere to be found, and I honestly can't wrap my head around it.🤷
Either he's got some major inferiority complex and needs that "ultimate No. 1" status to pump up his ego, or he's just acting like a child. I seriously don't get it.🤷

Mark Webber is honestly more likable than the three guys mentioned above, but I can't bring myself to root for him. Sebastian Vettel is just my guy.

Anything is possible, really. It all just comes down to having the right minds on the pit wall. 😉

It’ll end up looking like we’re the smartest ones in the entire pit lane.

But we all know that isn't the case, right? 😁

It was a stroke of luck, though I have my doubts that Ferrari did this on purpose.

Those Italians, man. Give me a break. 😁

🙏👍

Yeah, looks like pure coincidence to me too.🤣

Both of them got lucky. If they'd stayed out one more lap, they would've been screwed.🤣

http://www.fia.com/en-GB/mediacentre...e-analysis.pdf

Look down at Massin, Hulkenberg, etc., lap 31.🤣

That's the lap Kobayashi crashed, then the SC comes out on lap 32.

And Alonso and Vettel pit on lap 30. If either one—or anyone else for that matter—had stayed out, that crazy Mark Webber would've won.😱

Dammit, if Sebastian Vettel doesn't have a shot at the title at the end, I'm rooting for Alonso.🤦

I just can't bring myself to root for Lewis Hamilton or Mark Webber.🙄

mistybear87 said:And let's be honest, even if they had pitted, Fernando Alonso would have likely come in right alongside him, leaving them right back where they started. Sebastian Vettel just couldn't find any way to turn that situation to his advantage, no matter how hard he tried.😉

Plus, there’s another issue here. 😬

For the last few races, all driver-to-pitwall comms have been broadcast live. 😳

You can bet your life the guys in the garage aren't sitting there without a monitor or someone telling them exactly when the Red Bull crew tells Vettel "pit in this lap." 🤣

Honestly, I’m sure that crap plays a role too. 😉

wearygull20 said:These "new" drivers who seem to be running their own private championship just to avoid finishing last (per Neven Novak 🤣) are an unbelievable danger on track. Every single time, it's some kind of absolute mess with them. I've watched the footage of the lap when the Safety Car peels off several times, and it's glaringly obvious that that trailing Lotus caused the whole mess by slowing Webber down, allowing Hamilton to make the move, and then... well, history was made.🙂

But hey, as long as we have 183 teams on the grid, who cares if they're a hazard to themselves and everyone else, or if they directly interfere with the title fight. Go Bernie! 😠

And that's not even the half of it; they completely screwed over Jenson Button in the last race too. 🤦

If that random guy (I think it was Virgin Racing) hadn't ended up ahead of Button during the lap when Fernando Alonso was exiting the pits, you have to wonder if Alonso would have even passed him at all. 😳

Not to mention Heikki Kovalainen's defensive driving 🤣 and Mark Webber basically flying through the air—there's really nothing left to say about that mess. 🤣

Amanda Kelly said:We could honestly go on forever about what the rest of the championship looks like.

To me, McLaren looks like they’ve got the weakest shot at it. They aren't totally out of the running points-wise, but they just don't seem competitive enough. Unless, of course, they've been sitting on some secret development they haven't brought out yet.

The way I see it, Lewis Hamilton completely screwed them over. They’ll probably end up finishing third in the constructors' championship after leading almost the entire time.🤦

After all this nonsense, Red Bull's constructors' title feels basically 100% guaranteed right now.👍

As for the drivers, I'm betting the fight stays between Alonso-Vettel-Webber.
It really all boils down to whatever internal drama is brewing at Red Bull.🤷

But regardless, someone from Red Bull Racing has to take the title. I honestly doubt those Ferrari engines can survive all four races; maybe they'll pull it off, but it'll be tight. They'll likely have to baby them during the last two races, and that could give Red Bull the winning edge.
United States GP - Sep 26, 2010 in Formula 1 ·
Amanda Kelly said:If Alonso goes into the pit stop first (but they go together, he’s just ahead of Vettel), everything plays out fine. Vettel has zero chance of jumping him. That is, assuming everything goes perfectly.

Shouldn't Vettel have just stayed one lap behind Alonso on track instead? Like, just make that call himself? It might have given him a fighting chance, especially since he was already safe from the guys trailing them anyway.

What was the actual gap between them on track at that moment?

Hell no. Quite the opposite.😉

I put the link above. Both guys were losing roughly 0.5 to 1 second per lap because their tires clearly gave up. Plus, Vettel on the hard compound was noticeably faster than he was on those old softs.😉

On top of that, Alonso was pulling 0.5 seconds faster on those hards in the first lap than Vettel was on his old softs the lap before.

Staying out wouldn't have helped him catch up at all.

The only thing they screwed up was waiting too long to grab fresh rubber. They had a guaranteed window to jump ahead of Lewis Hamilton if they'd pitted earlier. If they'd switched to new tires while the track was clear, maybe they'd have a fighting chance. Staying out on old tires was just a disaster.😉

They hit the pit stop on lap 30, even though the tires were only rated for about 15-20 laps. But the SC caught them early.😉
If they’d stayed out for one more lap, they would've been totally screwed. There were yellow flags by lap 31, and the SC came out at the start of lap 32. So they wouldn't have made things worse, they just would've lost ground to Lewis Hamilton—and probably Jenson Button too.

slybison8 said:I believe there was a slight inaccuracy in what was reported on CNN regarding that sequence. It was actually confirmed that Red Bull was the first to call Sebastian Vettel into the pits, while the Ferrari employees reacted with incredible speed to notify Alonso—who was ahead of Vettel at the time—to head into the box as well. If you look at the different camera angles from the pit lane, you can see that the Red Bull mechanics had already positioned themselves, only for the Ferrari crew to spring into action almost instantly, maybe five seconds later, as if they had been jolted awake. I suppose one could say that the Ferrari team executed a masterstroke in the pits, effectively preventing Red Bull from seizing the lead. According to some of the Ferrari employees, this was a specific scenario they had been practicing several times throughout the season, though they hadn't quite managed to pull it off during a race until today.

👍 Just like I thought. It was a brilliant tactical move by Red Bull Racing (doesn't matter if it was Vettel, Christian Horner, or whoever), but Ferrari played the whole thing better. Between that and Vettel's pretty messy exit, Ferrari walked away with the win. 👍

They were equally fast anyway, so there wasn't much else to be done. Sadly, qualifying decided everything. If Vettel had grabbed pole, things probably would have ended the same way, just with Vettel in 1st and Alonso in 2nd.

Honestly, Alonso absolutely earned this win. 👍

mistybear87 said:And even the podium finish felt a bit somber. 😉

Not exactly a reason to throw a party either. He only lost 3 points to Mark Webber, but being 21 points behind after 4 races is a much bigger deal than being 24 behind after 5.😉

If he’d won, he’d be just 14 points back, which isn't huge, but still matters to the crew.

All signs point to Mark Webber being the clear number one at Red Bull Racing.😢

His only real shot is at the Japan Grand Prix if Webber gets tangled up with Lewis Hamilton or Mass and Vettel takes the win.

Anything else means he's basically done.😢

The competition is way too fierce for Red Bull to keep playing games. Personally, I think if they put everything behind Webber, he might still blow it. Luck doesn't stay on your side forever when you're constantly fighting for position, and he could easily lose the title thanks to team orders.

Honestly, I'm worried Red Bull is headed for some serious drama.😢
