neonpuma7 said:Funny how nobody mentioned the odds on Rosberg were sitting at 3.5 to 4 🙂 , especially given how much they wanted Hamilton to pit. Real scripted farce right there.

Vettel was at 10.0 😁
So I guess they would've just called both Hamilton and Rosberg in for a pit stop then...🤣

Brian Campbell36 said:When Ferrari shows up to Canada with that stronger engine, they’re going to absolutely tear through both Mercedes-Benz cars on that track. 🍿

Maurizio Arrivabene basically said, “We aren’t dropping our tokens at the Canada Grand Prix, but don't go asking me when we actually will—I'd rather not tip off the Germans over at Mercedes-Benz!”

Canada is a wash.
At the end of the day, it actually makes sense, mostly because of this:
Kod:
Here’s the breakdown on the power units for the Ferrari boys:

05 Ferrari | Sebastian Vettel | ICE: 2, TC: 2, MGU-H: 2, MGU-K: 2, ES: 2, CE: 2
07 Ferrari | Kimi Räikkönen | ICE: 2, TC: 2, MGU-H: 2, MGU-K: 2, ES: 1, CE: 2

Belgium makes way more sense here. We’re already eleven races into the season... I just don't see the logic in taking a massive penalty for five engine changes when they'd probably end up swapping in three power units anyway just to stay competitive in Canada.

Ronald Campbell44 said:Would Lewis Hamilton have even bothered hitting the pits if these "experts" who usually calculate things down to the thousandth hadn't wasted a few seconds? Not a chance—he’d probably still be driving a Tiger Pirot. So yeah, this whole "joint decision" theory is total garbage.

Look, they didn't screw up the math *that* badly... it just turned out bad. 😉
reason 1. boxing
The pit stop took way too long. We're talking 4.1 seconds, which is an eternity in this era when 3.0 seconds is considered a decent stop...

reason 2.
Sebastian Vettel either got lucky or timed it perfectly to be right on Nico Rosberg's tail the moment Lewis Hamilton exited the pits...
Hamilton popped out about half a meter behind Vettel (meaning he crossed the line roughly half a meter back). If he had come out just 10 cm ahead, he would've taken second...
And honestly, if he had actually secured second behind Rosberg, he definitely would've hunted him down by the end of the race. At the very least, Rosberg would've been forced to dive in and give up the spot...

Max's penalty is a joke

This penalty is pure stupidity. 🤦
From the replay, you can see Grosjean braked way earlier than anyone else on track—way earlier than he did just a few laps prior...
If anyone actually deserved a penalty here, it’s Grosjean for braking too early, not little Max...

jadeseal7 said:Daniil Kvyat actually said that, you're being ridiculous.

Maybe Daniel Ricciardo would have had a shot at Sebastian Vettel if Lewis Hamilton hadn't taken him out about 4 or 5 laps from the end... everything else is just pure fantasy.

He can say whatever he wants, but Daniel Ricciardo didn't stand a chance against Lewis Hamilton ☕
The only way Daniel Ricciardo was passing Lewis Hamilton was if Lewis slammed into Sebastian Vettel or hit a wall, and Daniil Kvyat and everyone else behind him had that exact same opportunity...

And honestly, rowdyrider12's theory actually makes sense. Right after Daniel Ricciardo passed Kimi Räikkönen, the word came out that the incident was under investigation—not that they'd look at it after the race, but that it was being investigated *right then* 😉
Which means a decision was coming down during the race... and that’s exactly why they let Daniel Ricciardo ahead of Daniil Kvyat, because they were almost certainly expecting a penalty.
If the stewards had made a snap decision during the race without hesitation, Daniel Ricciardo wouldn't have given the spot back to Daniil Kvyat; he would have just slowed down enough to finish right behind Daniil Kvyat but still ahead of Kimi Räikkönen...

Michael Diaz4 said:You clearly weren't watching. He was closing in fast. If the race had gone on for just a few more laps, he could have...

Yeah, sure, he could've kicked his ass...
If Lewis Hamilton, driving an absolute beast of a car with thirty laps of fresher, faster soft tires left in him, couldn't catch Sebastian Vettel, then forget about it. You can't expect Lewis Hamilton to make anything happen on old, worn-out rubber in a significantly slower car...

Honestly, the only interesting pass we saw the whole race was a slower car squeezing through, and even that only happened because Kimi fell asleep at the wheel and Lewis Hamilton forced his way in...
That was it. Nothing else. Everything else was just faster cars lapping slower ones...

darkmarlin16 said:And he's back at it again with the Alonso talk... 🙄

Seriously, what's the deal? Is Alonso Lord Voldemort now? Like we aren't allowed to even say his name? What kind of kid behavior is this? 🙄
Monaco GP 2015 in Formula 1 ·
Ronald Campbell44 said:That’s about the only fair way to play it. 😛

I don't know, maybe we should just 🤣
So, what's next? Give Hamilton fresher, faster tires and tell Rosberg to just hand over the win... why stop there? 🤦

rowdyrider12 said:Kvyat let him pass Ricci just so he could catch up to Raikkonen, in case Ricci ended up with a five-second penalty. Once they announced there was no penalty, Ricci just gave the spot right back...

That’s actually a pretty plausible theory. 😁

jadeseal7, don't be ridiculous. 🤣
In what crazy universe was Ricci ever going to overtake Hamilton? 😂
Maybe if Vettel and Rosberg had completely shredded their tires, he might have stood a chance. But Hamilton? Not a chance, even if he were standing on his eyelashes.

Ronald Campbell44 said:Nobody’s even bringing up the idea that they screwed Louie on purpose. If the roles were reversed, nobody would be questioning if it was a mistake; everyone would be shouting about how they intentionally sabotaged Nice by putting those guys ahead of him... At this rate, they'll probably claim Louie just decided to pit himself.

It’s very likely they did... and it's hard to argue it wasn't a collective decision when it clearly was...
And it's not like nobody headed for the pits. 😉
Actually, Ricci and the guys behind him basically dove into the pits because they clearly didn't expect Vettel to be right there (and not heading in),
whereas if Hamilton had pulled out in front of Vettel and only Rosberg was ahead of him, you can bet your life they would've ordered Rosberg to give the spot back to Hamilton.
Just like how they told Ricci to hand the position back to Kvyat at the end of the race. 😉

So they didn't miss the mark by nearly as much as it looks; they missed it by maybe a fraction of a second.

Ronald Campbell44 said:It was all just conspiracy theories—Lauda, Toto, Masons, Jews, Bin Laden...

So what? Who cares?
I honestly think Hamilton just screwed himself up because of Rosberg. I don't give a damn about those guys in Russia whining about how they covered for Ferrari...
I have a gut feeling Rosberg was actually the one calling for the pit stop, and then they pulled Hamilton in just because he had the advantage. 😁

Knowing how much Rosberg smiles, it wouldn't even surprise me if he was the one who actually sabotaged the whole thing...

Anyone got a clip of Sebastian Vettel flying into Martin Brundle in the commentary booth? You know, that moment where absolutely nobody is having a good time after the race and he just shouts "I'm happy"? 🤣🤣🤣

Ronald Campbell44 said:What kind of logic is that? I just want to know how people would react if Nico was actually bullying the rest of the grid the way Lewis did during qualifying and the race before the SC hit. Then they’d be complaining about him getting screwed over. Pure hypocrisy...

From what I remember, last year the team—basically SC—screwed Rosberg way harder than Hamilton. Heck, even Ricci jumped six spots in the pits and still finished ahead of Rosberg.😁
And I don't recall anyone crying about how hard Rosberg had it. If anything, everyone was just busy rooting against Ricci, even though he basically got handed the win without doing a damn thing in that race...

Roger Wright94 said:Rosberg was just a lucky winner. No point in celebrating here. Especially not by gloating over Lewis's luck.

Honestly, Rosberg is the loser in this whole scenario. 😉
If you’re going to bet on anything, bet that at the next race where Rosberg beats Hamilton—assuming we actually make it that far this season 😬—Mercedes will order Rosberg to hand that spot right back to Hamilton. You can take that to the bank...
And that’s going to sting Rosberg way more than whatever happened to Hamilton.

I’m dead certain the team will make this up to Hamilton at Rosberg's expense. They have to. At the end of the day, the team basically handed this one to Rosberg on a silver platter.

neonfox65 said:And yeah, blame the strategists too for pitting Alonso at the absolute worst possible time.

It’s always the wall... when it comes to Alonso, it’s always some damn wall's fault.😉
That time in Abu Dhabi, the wall hit Webber, not Alonso, but sure, let's blame the wall again...
Same story with the wall causing him to crash into Alonso inMonaco 2010, where he had a massive speed advantage, or even back in
Fuji 2007...😢 Those damn walls just ruin everything every single time.

Michael Diaz4 said:But he earned it...

Of course he earned it...
It would’ve been just as fair if they gave Fernando Alonso a drive-through and gave Ricc 5 sec...
But since they went so easy on Fernando Alonso, I guess they couldn't exactly penalize Ricciardo because apparently a 1-second penalty doesn't exist...
Monaco GP 2015 in Formula 1 ·
Michael Diaz4 said:He messed up because he actually listened to them. A real champion would never have done that in this situation... Sure, it’s easy for us to play critic after the chaos settles and nobody knows who was doing what, but he HAD to assume those two were close enough to overtake him. Instead, he blindly followed his "strategists" and got screwed because they blew it. A true champion wouldn't make a mistake like that...

I honestly don't care who's at fault here.😉

Honestly, my respect for Hamilton just shot through the roof because of how he handled the whole mess. He didn't go full savage and dive-bomb Sebastian Vettel in some desperate attempt to force a pass...
And even more so because he didn't spend the aftermath trashing his team or whining about how they stole his win, blah blah blah. He just went ahead and congratulated Nico Rosberg regardless.
That’s exactly what sets the real drivers apart. Because of that, I respect him way more than Fernando Alonso starting today.
Up until now, they were in the same ballpark, but now Hamilton is clearly a level above.👍

gentlemoose57 said:Man, when people try telling me Hamilton isn't as consistent as Vettel. It’s ridiculous. Not only has he spent most of his career fighting unreliable cars—and let's be real, even last year there was zero chance of him pulling off nine wins in a row—but now he's stuck with a team that just can't keep up.

🤦
Last year, Hamilton had a car capable of 20 straight wins... and he had Rosberg right next to him as his only real competition, who honestly couldn't touch him.

Anthony Baker84 said:Why did Alonso get a 5-second penalty while Ricciardo didn't? I mean, Ricciardo was actually ahead of the other car. What kind of logic is this? Or were both incidents supposed to be penalties?

The criteria... same old story.
If the other driver doesn't walk away with damage, you usually don't see a penalty.
Kimi wasn't forced off the track and his car was fine. Hulk got shoved wide, lost a ton of positions, and had to pit because his car was damaged.

It’s always judged this way whenever things are borderline—somewhere between a racing incident and something worth a heavy penalty. That's exactly why Alonso's penalty was such a joke...
