JP Morgan Chase - overdraft limits and fees in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
George Taylor28 said:My wife just put in a request to increase her overdraft limit at Bank of America, and I was wondering if anyone here has any insight based on their own experience... specifically, how long does one typically have to wait for an answer or final approval?

I am also interested in this. Does anyone have any firsthand experience?

Here is the clarification from HROK regarding American Express:

First off, we need to clarify how all the data sitting in the Registry
is submitted by our users—banks, savings and loan associations, credit card companies,
leasing firms, and other financial institutions. In this specific instance,
we are clearly looking at a consumer loan approved by Bank of America
(acting as the creditor here), facilitated through a revolving credit card
issued via a Bank of America card, which serves as the credit intermediary.
Ultimately, since this is a monetary obligation approved (and funded)
by Bank of America, that debt must be reported by Bank of America to the HROK Registry.

So, American Express consumer loans and revolving lines show up in HROK. I assume the same goes for Diners Club, since in those cases, JPMorgan Chase acts as the creditor.

No, this is about Zabiti. It’s entirely possible the data suggesting American Express and Diners Club aren't reporting to the HROK is simply inaccurate or outdated. I should probably just reach out to HROK directly and settle this.

Thanks for the link. I wasn't aware of those specific details. It seems clear that American Express isn't handing over the data, but if that's the case, I have to wonder how the bank managed to see it in the first place.

American Express offers them, at least regarding revolving credit, because back when I was inquiring about card options at my bank, they specifically asked if I had one. Of course, that was before I started falling behind on my payments.

They are definitely reported. I’ve verified it myself, which is why I am asking. I just have no idea how long they hold onto those records regarding late payments or if anyone actually cares about them.

Does anyone know how long a late payment on an American Express or Diners Club card stays on my record with the Federal Reserve (for example, if two accounts get merged)? Also, does that history weigh heavily against me if I try to apply for a different type of credit card from another issuer or a different bank?

Morgan Evans83 said:I did. They’re offering to set you up with a Diners Club card, claiming you can then withdraw those credits through it. Personally, I have my doubts about being able to pull that much cash out immediately after the card even arrives.

Has anyone actually managed to secure a Diners Club card and pull that credit through those intermediaries? What was the actual experience like?

Regards.

As nesho pointed out in their previous post, everything hinges on your specific banker. My recent experience waiting on a loan from JPMorgan Chase was far from ideal. Despite being promised a turnaround of two weeks at most, the process dragged on for nearly two months. It wasn't until I told my banker that I was walking away and taking my business to another bank that they suddenly called me back within two days to finalize the payout.

It is almost certainly another scam. Who in their right mind would just hand out $16667 to someone who is unemployed? Based on my own experience, these types of ads—promising quick, easy loans through a notary or specifically targeting people out of work—always end the same way. As soon as you start asking real questions about the terms, interest rates, or repayment schedules, they realize you aren't an easy target. Then, suddenly, they stop answering your calls and ignore your emails.

Yeah, there’s no way they’d just hand over that much cash right out of the gate. You might be able to swing a personal loan, but that isn't the same thing as having liquid capital in your hands.

Ashley White said:Lately, there’s been a sudden surge of rather peculiar offers popping up everywhere:

"FAST and easy access to $8.25—no need for notarization, Red Cross background checks, or blacklists. Just call or send a text."

And? Did you actually reach out to them?

Morgan Evans83 said:Rebecca Green7, did you end up pulling the trigger on that loan? If so, anyone you’d actually recommend?

No. Every single one of those ads I've seen so far has been a total scam. The moment you ask for specifics or try to vet them, they just ghost you. They only want your social security number and some upfront "security deposit" or fee immediately. Avoid them at all costs.
Someone slid into my DMs recently offering private loans, but after that initial message, they went completely silent...🤷

Douglas Mitchell said:Alright, I’ve got a question for the group. Does anyone know if JPMorgan Chase has some kind of control mechanism in place regarding those automatic increases (the ones that either trigger or don't 🙂 every six months)? Specifically, will they block the increase if you happen to be overdrawn on the exact day it's scheduled to go up? Or does the automation just run regardless of whether you're in the red that day?
Thanks for any insight!

It depends on how long you've been sitting in that overdraft. If it's just a one-day thing, it won't matter. But if you've been overdrawn for a while, they'll likely scale back your limit, and if you don't settle up promptly, they might just shut the whole thing down.

Susan Lewis19 said:So, here’s the deal—I stumbled upon the only online ad I could find claiming this firm offers loans to people currently out of work for smaller amounts (around 40 $0.00) and much higher sums for those with jobs, regardless of their current debt load. The whole process sounds wild: apparently, their notary meets up with you, brings the cash, and then you just cover the processing fees and an insurance policy, and that's it. Honestly, my gut says it’s some kind of scam, but since they aren't asking for money upfront—it's all handled at the same time—I'm struggling to wrap my head around how they could actually pull a fast one on me... and if something like this is even legally possible in the US?

That sounds completely sketchy. Do you happen to know which company we're talking about or what kind of insurance policy is being signed? The idea of a notary acting as a "broker" in this whole setup is highly irregular.

I am aware of that, though I have heard rumors of individuals out there willing to lend money under reasonable terms. If only I could track them down...

Charles Ramos7 said:I don't get it—how can you not qualify for a bank loan then? 🤔

A loan in Chase. They would approve me if I provided guarantors and co-signers, but I have no desire to drag anyone else into my financial business, and frankly, finding people willing to take on that kind of risk in this economy is nearly impossible.
