Living with Dyspraxia in Psychology & Therapy ·
vividorca9 said:The way I see it, this feels a lot like dealing with dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia.

I’m on medication for BPD. It isn't just my hands that shake; the whole body starts trembling whenever things get stressful.

At first, every single job felt like too much pressure. I've already given up on anything requiring fine motor skills because—honestly—it's just not happening for me.

There’s a massive list of basic tasks that most people take for granted, yet I struggle through them. That’s the real issue.

Multitasking isn't actually the problem. It’s more that I get so incredibly jittery the moment I start working, and I think that anxiety just completely freezes me up.

I was referred to a neurologist because of the tremors, but I missed the appointment and now I have to go through the hassle of rescheduling.

Years ago, I had some psychological evaluations done, and they mentioned the possibility of central nervous system damage. That includes things like MS or Parkinson, and I'm starting to get pretty worried about it.

Let's start by saying that while those things might be related, it's not a rule; for instance, in my case, you could be incredibly clumsy and have terrible handwriting but still pull straight A's in math. You could easily end up with better grades in Calculus or Chemistry than you ever did in Art class.🤦

The shaking itself isn't necessarily tied to dyspraxia. It could just be that you're extremely tense and high-strung because things that seem routine to everyone else feel difficult for you, which leads to that anxiety—that feeling that people are looking at you and thinking you're incompetent or something. The other possibility is a neurological issue, but that is way out of the realm of psychology.

You have to keep doing something, though. I hope you have someone in your corner who understands? Surely you can learn to manage certain tasks; with enough repetition, surely it shouldn't be impossible, so please don't give up...

Regarding the anxiety part, I think I've covered most of that already.

I don't have much more to say regarding the last two chapters, since those are strictly medical matters. Just go see a doctor, and please, stop missing your appointments...

Look, those hand tremors you’re experiencing aren't actually tied to dyspraxia. And let's be real here—there isn't some magic cure for this condition either. In the realm of modern science, we don't even have a clear grasp on what exactly is happening, so talking about "cures" is a bit premature, don't you think? What kind of medications are you even taking? Are you dealing with memory lapses? Does everything fall apart the second you try to multitask? Or is it more of that paralyzing anxiety where you're terrified of messing up before you've even started?

The fact that the audio and video aren't synced isn't necessarily a hardware flaw; you might have just downloaded a bad file. Go check out some stuff on YouTube and see how the picture and sound hold up there.
P.S. Is it running hot while you're using it? And does the fan start blowing really loudly after it's been running for a bit?
P.P.S. Which version of Windows are you running?

Ugh, I really don't feel like digging through my junk drawer right now to find the label, but if I recall correctly, it says something about an ES51, OR SOMETHING ELSE (it's written in tiny, tiny print). YouTube works perfectly fine, though the machine does get a bit warm—is that considered too much?🤔 The fan doesn't kick into high gear or anything after booting up Windows, which happens to be 8.1 since that was what came pre-installed from the factory...

Lawrence Barnes64 said:can you give me the specific laptop model and let me know if everything actually runs fine after the fix?

It's a Dell, and honestly, it seems to be working okay for the most part...

though, if I'm being completely honest, we really ought to take a closer look at it because I downloaded this one series that was playing perfectly fine before, but when I went to watch it again yesterday, the audio and video were totally out of sync...

The antivirus says everything is clean🤔

Look, I’m far from being some kind of tech wizard—I barely know my way around a motherboard—but is it actually possible for a laptop to be absolutely trashed, just full of junk, but I mean the physical kind? Like, could it be suffocating under a mountain of dust and grime?

Every single time I try to boot up my laptop, I’m sitting there staring at a blank screen for ten minutes—if not longer—before the manufacturer's logo even decides to show up, and once that logo finally appears, absolutely nothing happens for an eternity. To make matters worse, almost immediately after I hit the power button, the cooling vent starts blasting air like a jet engine, accompanied by this loud, obnoxious buzzing sound that I can only assume is coming from the fan.🤔Only after that frantic blowing and buzzing finally dies down does Windows actually decide to load. What on earth is going on? The damn thing is still under warranty, too...

There were times when Americans went into battle armed with nothing but hunting rifles, facing down an enemy backed by heavy tanks and advanced fighter jets. Fast forward to today, and the same people are too terrified to even ask for their own hard-earned, unpaid wages.🍿

The contrast between those two realities is so jarring, so fundamentally broken, that I’m left with only one conclusion: the American people are suffering from a collective psychological breakdown that requires massive, large-scale psychiatric intervention.

Well, looking at the wreckage left behind by that failed Scottish referendum, it seems like a huge chunk of the Catalan population has finally come to their senses and decided to stop chasing such ridiculous fantasies as independence! Let’s be clear: Spain isn't some loose federation where you can just pack up and leave whenever you feel like it, so there is no legal mechanism for secession here. If anything, this whole mess has hit California hardest of all, and more importantly, by pushing for that referendum, they were gambling with the very survival of their movement. They were risking a massive internal fracture and potentially even the total collapse of what is still a relatively young and unformed Catalan nation!

If you want my honest opinion, just drop all this heavy philosophy and theology stuff...

Because what happens when some thugs decide to jump you? You're going to end up owing them money, too.
John Davis42 said:😲 Look, I consider myself a true-blue American. I'm still young, and back during the old country, I never really cared about identity—religious, ethnic, political, none of that stuff mattered to me!
Back then, nobody else was anything more than a label; Americans, Mexicans, whatever—to me, those were just names on a map. Everyone was just an American. Fast forward to now, and I’m a stubborn-as-hell American just out of pure spite for everyone around me. That’s how I present myself, plain and simple. Obviously, nobody’s handing out medals for it, and I’m not looking for any praise either!!
But the thing I find most baffling about all these people fighting tooth and nail for America's independence 🙂 is their refusal to admit the absolute truth: "The creation of an independent America wasn't worth even ONE single human life."
😁 That’s the only thing that matters!! I don't care about borders, religion, or nationality—I'd throw all of that in the trash in a heartbeat if it meant saving just one person from being sacrificed!!

My friend BONBONCIC, whom that villainous moderator has banned🙂

Just keep spreading that Pan-American spirit and, more importantly, the ideals of worker-led socialism😉
Richard Wilson4 said:Besides all the new stuff, you really only want to watch things that are at least 40 years old?

Look, I'm not saying you shouldn't check out the classics, but this is just straight-up heavy nostalgia for shows that were hit or miss—mostly misses.

Just go watch Comedy Central, Fox, HBO, or AXN. Don't get stuck in such a tiny little bubble just because it's easier to watch something without subtitles. And don't even get me started on documentaries; there are endless channels out there if you actually look.

Heaven forbid you watch something that isn't strictly Anglo-American; some people are just hopelessly stuck in their own narrow little world.🤷
Perhaps we ought to step outside these narrow, outdated regional boundaries once in a while; I mean, why on earth aren't we screening more of those classic Italian films?🤷
I have to say, I’ve been flipping through Turner Classic Movies lately, and honestly, a few of these titles caught me completely off guard—mostly because they weren't even on my radar before, but man, they are absolutely brilliant!!! I’m talking about *The Last Bridge*, *The Celebration*, *Early Works*, and *The Collection Center*. That first one, *The Last Bridge*, is this intense war drama that manages to weave together both the partisan and German perspectives through a really clever dual narrative structure. As for the rest, they lean much more into the avant-garde; *The Celebration* carries that wartime tension even though there isn't any actual combat shown, focusing instead on these militia groups in a way that feels almost feverish and surreal. Then you have *Early Works*, which is heavy, experimental stuff deeply shaped by those student protests regarding youth culture and the socialist era—if anything, you could argue parts of it function as a critique of the socialist system itself, wouldn't you agree?

At work, when things get busy, I barely have time to turn around before it's already noon. 😲Five hours pass by like one.

A professor once told me that time has actually accelerated due to some black hole anomaly in space occurring since the early 90s. He claims days used to feel infinite, yet today, there is simply never enough time to get anything done...

That is absolute nonsense; while it might feel like time is moving faster, the reality is we just can't finish tasks like we used to because our frantic pace of life has skyrocketed, largely due to the internet, not some cosmic black hole.☕

Rachel Roberts6 said:I don't know... feels like he’s just getting worked up. Maybe they invited him to talk about this, and then we just showed up like uninvited guests, so now he thinks he can run his mouth (with all those typos) while we aren't even supposed to be here? Does he really think we need permission to have an opinion?

Exactly. He’s out here calling me crazy, yet he’s acting like he’s been microdosing ten different kinds of narcotics at once.🙄
Rachel Roberts6 said:Well, you're on the internet too. So what does that make you?

I have to hand it to you, this guy is actually trying to indict us just because we happen to exist online. Truly brilliant logic there.🙂🤣😂🤣

Now that I’ve actually reached adulthood, I can’t help but feel like time just slips through your fingers; those years just vanish into thin air🤷

I’m honestly not sure if this belongs in a general discussion thread or if it’s more suited for a medical or physics forum, but I was sitting there watching this program on the Discovery Channel—you know, one of those science specials hosted by Morgan Freeman (the legend himself)—and they presented a truly mind-bending example!!! Apparently, there was a patient in his 70s admitted to an American hospital who was experiencing some incredibly bizarre symptoms; he was completely overwhelmed by everyday life, from the rhythm of the traffic to the sheer pace of human activity. The diagnosis they gave him was absolutely staggering, and frankly, I’m still struggling to wrap my head around it. According to the show, the patient's perception of time had slowed down so drastically that a car traveling at 37 miles/h appeared to him as if it were a high-speed racer zooming by at 186 miles/h. How on earth is that even biologically possible😕🙄
