thanks for the colors. 🙂 And a quick shoutout to everyone else who actually bothered to put in the work too. 🙂
testdrive...look, if we’re supposed to be strictly following the Constitution, then what was even the point of passing all those other laws and sub-regulations? Honestly, I don't really care to make things more complicated than they need to be—mostly because I wasn't the one out there selling subpar emblems, you know, like those cheap copper reliefs or white marble ones—but I do care about the actual details, not just your personal spin on specific sections of the law, or in this case, the Constitution. But hey, thanks for the effort anyway. 🙂
Look, I’m well aware of what’s laid out in the Constitution, and I know exactly what the Flag Act says regarding official interpretations. 🙂 I was under the impression there might be some specific statute or regulation governing how the Great Seal of the United States is displayed within a physical space—you know, similar to those rules about where you have to post an invoice, like how it belongs on the door rather than stuck to a window. 🙂
urbanraven16 said:Or to put it simply—no, it can't be "bronze and colorless," and even more simply, just go buy the first one you see at a bookstore and you'll be fine.
So, are we really splitting hairs here, especially since the standard version you'd find in a bookstore—or even the one printed in The New York Times—is exactly that bronze style? Does that mean it's somehow forbidden to use that version in an office or building?
I’m looking for some answers from the moderators here, or honestly, just anyone who actually knows what they're talking about regarding this situation. Thanks. 🙂
Quick question... Does anyone actually know which specific law, regulation, or federal rule dictates how the Great Seal of the United States can be used or displayed inside a business office?
It’s definitely not under the Flag Act. 🙂
I'm also curious if there's anything out there that specifies the visual details beyond just the shield and the field itself—like, what about the colors? Can you have a brass version without any color at all, or does it strictly have to be full color, and are there rules regarding size and everything else?
Well, before I get absolutely steamrolled by this incoming wave of pure testosterone, I’m just going to quietly gather my little things and head out of this thread 😢 that I actually started in the first place. 🙂 Speaking of which, do I get any special perks since I'm technically the one who opened this whole discussion? Like, am I allowed to chime in more than just a few lines here or 😬
Is there such a thing? Anyway, this forum is a pretty small corner of the internet, though it’s easy to lose your way sometimes, so I'm sure our paths will cross again somewhere else down the road. Stanley, honestly, just like so many others, I ended up falling for it too... 😘
😁 yeah, it’s vBulletin, though it feels pretty much like phpBB if you look closely enough. It definitely puts a massive strain on the server, doesn't it? 😁 Whatever, anyway, thanks ladies for getting back to me so quickly. 🙂
Well, it’s pretty much in the title, isn't it? A little while back, I used to have this option where, if I was looking at a PDF version of things, there would be a list right at the bottom of every thread showing exactly which forum members were currently viewing that specific PDF.
So, what I’m really wondering is whether there’s any way to get that feature back? It feels like one of those core phpBB settings, so maybe you guys just tweaked the forum's layout and accidentally wiped it out in the process, right? But seriously, is there any actual possibility of restoring it?😁
Sandra Wells67 said:The pain isn't even that intense, and honestly, I feel kind of awkward bringing it up with my doctor because I don't want her thinking I'm just some woman looking for a payout or making a scene over an injury I can't even claim insurance for since I didn't rush to the ER right after the accident or pull any dramatic stunts with a neck brace and everything. It’s just that my shoulder blades feel a bit stiff.
Look... getting hit in the back is no joke.
You really need to warm up that area, so maybe try heating up a heating pad or even just using a warm compress on your neck. If you start feeling nauseous, get to a doctor immediately—that could be a concussion. The pain might actually start ramping up soon, so if it doesn't let up in a few days, go see someone.
You can get referrals from your primary care physician at the local clinic. Ask for a referral to a physical therapist and an orthopedist, though seeing the PT first might be the better move. 😉
Good luck, and hopefully it turns out you're totally fine and just lucky...
What matters more, me or her? Honestly, I don't even know... probably her.
I don't think we're talking about addiction here—at least not regarding our relationship, not on my end anyway, because I’m definitely not dependent on her, but she is absolutely dependent on me, though I get why it feels that way since I went through something almost identical to what Harold Turner2 dealt with, except unlike her, I just cut that person out of my life completely and haven't looked back once.
Maybe I could find a way to stay in her life without letting her drain me dry, you know, just by shutting down a little; I can't sustain it forever, but it works for a while.
But looking at the big picture, I think I’ll eventually have to pull away, because even if she thinks sucking all my energy out helps her feel better, it doesn't work like that; she’s just passing that energy through herself and wasting it, it isn't actually helping her, otherwise she wouldn't totally crash whenever I'm not around.
She’s probably just the type of person who can't actually benefit from my "kind" of energy.
The whole issue comes down to what happens when I step away; her condition just takes a nosedive, which is exactly why I mentioned feeling so much guilt, because while she’s with me, things are fine, but honestly, I’m just a total wreck, and once we're apart, I'm doing alright, but she becomes absolutely impossible to handle.
I can't even begin to wrap my head around why anyone would even bring up a topic like this, honestly. It’s just one of those things that makes you sit back and wonder if people have actually lost their grip on reality lately? Is it just me, or does everything feel increasingly unhinged? I mean, you look at the way certain people operate, the sheer audacity of it all, and you have to ask yourself—where did we go wrong? Does anyone actually care about the truth anymore, or are we all just drifting through this chaotic mess without a compass? It feels like every time you think you've seen the peak of absurdity, someone else comes along and pushes the needle even further into the red. It's exhausting, really. Just completely draining to watch the whole thing unfold while everyone else seems perfectly content to just nod along and pretend everything is fine. But hey, maybe I'm just being cynical, right? Or maybe I'm the only one actually paying attention. kaže: What does it even mean to "help someone," anyway? I mean, really think about it for a second. Is it just handing someone a twenty because they're short on rent, or is it something deeper, like actually stepping up when things get messy? People throw that word around like it’s some simple, one-size-fits-all concept, but it’s never that straightforward, is it? It could be anything from fixing a neighbor's flat tire in a rainy suburb outside Chicago to something much more heavy, like being there for a friend when their whole world is falling apart. Does helping someone imply you're taking over their problems, or are you just giving them the tools to handle it themselves? It's a slippery slope, honestly. One person's lifeline is another person's interference, and I feel like we spend half our lives trying to figure out where that line is drawn without ever actually getting an answer.
Just one day without the tears, you know? Just one single day where nothing actually hurts.
Lisa Cox4 said:People love playing the victim by calling themselves these little "energy bombs" that just burst with positivity, while everyone else is some kind of astral vampire, but honestly, that’s just the path of least resistance, isn't it? 🤣 It’s basically acting like a moody teenager who thinks every single thing wrong in the world is somehow the fault of the older generation. 😁 Hardly anyone actually wants to take responsibility for themselves.
You say you want to help people but find you can't, and that seems like a perfectly valid excuse to feel drained or to claim, as you put it, that "someone has sucked the life out of you."
...personally, I think I'd know if I were draining someone else's energy because I'd actually feel better afterward, but that hasn't happened once, so I haven't met anyone who can recharge my batteries, or even someone who fills me up; instead, I just encounter people where I feel safe and steady, pretty much just feeling exactly how I already felt, rather than feeling "supplemented," so, there's really no reason for me to start blaming myself. On the flip side, I also wrote that whenever I feel exhausted or empty, I spend that time alone, never with anyone else, just being by myself in a place that feels right and fulfilling to me.
...I really don't get what that bolded part is supposed to mean...
I’m dusting this old thread off 😬 because I’ve been wondering how to deal with those people who drain you so thoroughly that the psychological exhaustion actually starts manifesting physically in your body.
I stumbled upon a few articles specifically about this—energy vampires, or what some might call psychological (or even astral) vampires.
Now, look, I consider myself someone with pretty high "vitality," if you want to call it that; I also have a strong capacity for self-healing, I don't really fall into depressions, and I rarely get in a bad mood, though when I do, I just retreat into solitude (usually somewhere quiet that lets me recharge). It's actually quite rare for anyone to drain me to the point of getting a physical headache, but there is this one person in my life who has started draining me so much, it’s honestly unbelievable. I want to help them—they’re dealing with some stuff— but that’s not really the point here, except that I can't actually help them because they just suck every bit of energy out of me, yet I can't bring myself to distance myself, because then I’d just be sitting there feeling guilty.
Someone else mentioned in this thread, or maybe in a similar one, that none of us ever stop to ask ourselves if we are the ones draining someone else's energy, if we are the leeches or if we are the ones doing the exhausting. If people are genuinely curious about that, why am I even writing about this on the internet instead of just talking to someone in real life? Well, it's because most people I personally thought would understand what I was talking about absolutely have no clue what I'm trying to say, so I decided to turn to this community instead. _______________________________ On a related note, have you ever had that feeling where being around someone makes you feel completely calm, steady, and secure—just a beautiful sensation—but then you hang out with someone else and suddenly you're jittery, exhausted, or on edge? I'm curious how to avoid that feeling while still being around the people who drain you.
I’ve been noticing more and more lately that my own presence, or the presence of certain people, has a relaxing effect on me; no matter how much time I spend with them, I never feel like it's enough (and I don't mean in a romantic partner kind of way), but rather with all the people I meet throughout my life and will continue to meet—do you think that kind of energy can ever run out?
Honestly, I don't need anything extra to really experience music; it’s just woven into the very fabric of my life, from the moment I roll out of bed until I finally crash at night.
But, if I want that same music to actually transport me somewhere else—to carry me off into some other dimension entirely... well, there’s usually something involved in that process, depending on how I’m feeling, how much cash I have to burn, and whether I actually have the time or the headspace for it.
