Pale Skin Issues in Health ·
Ryan Cooper90 said:I look way too pale. How do I fix this on my face, arms... basically my whole body?

How can I get rid of this look?

1) Exercise

2) Spend less time sitting at the computer

3) ?...

Give me some advice.
😉

Clearly you already know the answers. 😁

If I were making a list, number three would be:

Hit the tanning bed for 15 minutes once a week during winter.
I know plenty of people here hate tanning beds, but doing it in such small doses isn't just safe—it actually helps because you're getting extra light exposure, which boosts your mood.

😁 It’s like you read my mind. 🤔
Stock up on gum and cinnamon sticks, and just stay active all day today. You won't have any time to obsess over cigarettes or junk food. 😵

Checking back in to encourage anyone who has quit or wants to.

👋 🙂

Regarding the whole concept of being a "smoker"—I touched on this a few lines ago. I think I'll be a non-smoking smoker for the rest of my life. Doesn't matter; what matters is that we're tough enough to realize we're doing something smart for ourselves. 🙂

Good luck, everyone!🙂

Nobody is answering my question...😁

Is everyone seriously starting over again?

I’m proud to report: Day 17.🙂

How’s it going with you guys?

George Wilson95 said:👋 the third day

I survived the coffee. I honestly thought it would be harder. In the beginning, every single time someone lit up, I’d tell myself I couldn't do it, but then somehow I just... forgot about it.

When was your absolute worst craving hit?

👍

I’m still just waiting for that massive crisis to hit, but it hasn't come yet...😕 I used to quit before, and I remember it being pure hell—pacing around the apartment like a maniac, banging my head against the wall, and crying like a child....

This time, I just catch a whiff of that disgusting smoke and the urge vanishes instantly. There were a few rough moments (I'm the type to crush cigarettes when things get stressful), but my partner and I just went for a long walk afterward and dropped the whole subject.

By the way—I can feel my voice getting stronger and stronger! 🙂

Are you guys having any issues with coughing?

I'm going to have a crisis tomorrow (grabbing coffee with smokers) 😢

Man, let me know how it goes!🙂

I passed my first test—this girl was smoking all night long, cigarette after cigarette, and the smoke was just driving me crazy...

Tomorrow I have my second test.🙂

Amy Smith said:I've been clean for a year now, but if you've made up your mind, nothing on this earth can force you to light up again.

I'm getting off this thread as fast as possible because I'm starting to feel a withdrawal hit again. Brrrrrrrr.

I took a break from smoking for an entire year once. I got sick right around New Year's and was so wiped out that for a whole month, I couldn't even lift my head, let alone light up a cigarette. I managed to hold out for a full year, but then I ended up starting right back up again on New Year's. 😵

It's been a year already, but I get where you're coming from. I won't be spending too much time hanging around this thread either.

😁 mistymarlin7, you absolute sweetheart!!!!! 🙂

I’ve already put on three pounds.🙂 I’m just baking cookies to kill the time since I can’t leave the house—this flu is absolutely wrecking me.

Paul Ramirez6 - that’s awesome! My partner quit too, and things have been so much easier. Now we both notice how much our place reeks of stale smoke. He’s actually more energetic than I am, despite smoking for 22 years—he had a collection just like Amy Smith's.

Suggestion: set aside the cash you would’ve spent on cigarettes every single day. It’s a massive motivator. We’ve already tucked away 90 bucks. 😵 We did the math and realized we spent enough on cigarettes last year to pay for a two-week luxury vacation.

I kept talking, and talking, and talking...

I finally just hit a wall and stopped. Both the talking and the smoking.

It’s been 9 days now. Spent them all with my partner. Honestly, quitting has never felt this easy. I was bracing myself for some massive withdrawal, but nothing has hit me yet. Thank God for that...

Still, I always feel like a smoker who just isn't lighting up right now. I'm convinced this feeling is going to stick with me forever. I'll never truly be a non-smoker in my own mind...
Fruit yogurts in Health ·
placidjackal97 said:Have you even heard of Müller or what that actually is? That’s what those 0% labels were referring to.

Second off, look at what it says above—if they even bother adding fruit, it’s basically mush. It's rotting stuff. If you know anyone working in the food industry in any capacity, just ask them. The people actually working there never eat those yogurts. They know why.

It's simply not profitable for them to use real fruit; it's much cheaper to just toss some flavoring in.

Like I said, I eat them occasionally myself. But I don't fool myself thinking they have any actual nutritional value.

They have those fruit yogurts packed in those fancy little glass jars, right? The ones with the label that looks like some European floral pattern or whatever... Thick, fatty, and incredibly sweet? Is that what you're talking about?
I'm not sure why you're bringing that up, though; I didn't even comment on it because I don't buy them. But this part of yours caught my eye:

"It's better if you don't know what that thing is that looks like fruit or has a 'fruit flavor.' And those rare cases where they actually include fruit—it's already past its prime, it just doesn't show in the yogurt."

Have you ever actually eaten a BioGard fruit yogurt? You touched on this yourself in another thread—talking about food and calling yourself a fan of it. Well, not every manufacturer is allowed to use that specific label. But the ones making my favorite yogurt definitely do.

As for mushy fruit—I know that almost all fruit popsicles are made from stuff like that, as are most candies and pastries with fruit fillings. But I don't see that as some huge tragedy. There are plenty of people who love it and can't get enough of soft apples, pears, or bananas. I know people for whom the fact that the fruit is overripe doesn't cause any disgust.

Besides, it's not my job to defend every single yogurt on the market, and I've already said I don't like all of them. But you don't get to tell me that I don't know what's in the yogurt I choose to buy. Look, maybe I don't know Müller, but I know plenty about different types of fruit and the products that contain them, and for me, that's more than enough.

I don't know what kind of fruit yogurts you people are eating, but the one I mentioned is loaded with actual fruit. Honestly, saying all fruit yogurts lack quality is just plain stupid.
Of course there’s junk on the shelves, but some manufacturers actually give a damn about quality.

Can someone please explain to me how I'm supposed to find whole blackberries, raspberries, or half a strawberry in a yogurt that claims to have 0% fruit? 😕 I mean, I think I know what fruit looks like!

The only brand I actually enjoy eating is Danone (their mixed berry one is my absolute favorite 🙂).

Everything else is just gross, especially those thick ones loaded with gelatin where the fruit is basically just 🙂.

Jason Morgan2 said:You think this can't happen in any other culture? Sure, it depends on the specific historical and social landscape. My point is that it can happen, it has happened, and it will happen again.

Did I ever actually say it couldn't happen?😕 Did you even bother reading my entire post?😁

The Undertaker said:Ugh, because of you I actually have to dig through the basement, and I am feeling lazy... fine, I'll go check for you.

Thanks for the excerpt! 🙂 It’s interesting, and it actually ties into what I was looking into. Not everyone involved were volunteers, either.
Honestly, their culture just fascinates me; we are never going to truly wrap our heads around it. And what people fail to realize is that the unknown—that's what scares them. 😁

When you look at how they live—organized like ants, pure self-discipline... they remind me of the Borg.😲

I don't think an individualist who sees the utter pointlessness of war can find even a shred of admiration for that fanatic way of "living"—or rather, dying—but it is fascinating that people like that still exist today. You can't help but ask "why?".
The very concept of common sense on this planet is like a chameleon—it's entirely shaped by its environment. 😁

The Undertaker said:I actually did my senior history project on the Kamikaze, and if I recall correctly, you pulled this from that one documentary they aired on CNN ages ago... it was a killer documentary! I’ve got it recorded, and I truly believe it's the best explanation of what being a Kamikaze actually meant..

That kind of devotion and Honor! If you haven't seen that documentary, it covers absolutely EVERYTHING. If anyone's interested... shoot me a PM.

Being a Kamikaze was considered the ultimate Honor back then. My favorite part is the true story at the end of the film; basically, you couldn't just become a Kamikaze whenever you wanted. You could only be one if you had no one left—meaning no family to mourn you. There was this one case where a man, his wife, and three daughters (if I remember right) all took their own lives just so he could qualify to be a Kamikaze.

It's unbelievable how much that meant to them.

This guy actually had both parents alive. 😕 There was also another documentary where a man talked about it being an Honor, but he didn't mention that you can only be a Kamikaze if you have nobody left.

Since you clearly know way more about this than I do—can you tell me which documentary it is? It felt like something from the BBC, but I can't remember the title. I watched it a few months ago.
Kamikaze - Hurricane in Miscellaneous ·
I don't know much about the specifics, but I watched this interview with an old man who was slated to go into combat as a Kamikaze, only for the war to end before he could.

He said it was just business as usual—you get your orders, you get your assignment, and that’s that. No big drama, no fuss. They knew exactly what would happen if they didn't show up. Still, he was clearly relieved when he heard he wasn't heading off to the front. 😁

He didn't come across as some fanatic or some naive kid, either. Just a regular guy looking back on the war and telling his story.☕
Breakouts and rash on my fingers in Health ·
I went through the exact same thing. For me, it started right in the middle of my palms and then spread out toward my fingers. After a while, those blisters actually started cracking open along with the skin. Man, the pain and the itching were just brutal...

My doctor told me it was eczema. I tried all sorts of different creams, but I eventually realized the real culprit was my dish soap. Now, I only use the extra-gentle kind, and I haven't had a single issue in three or four years.
Alright, I'll reach out to the embassy...

I still have a million questions, so hopefully they can actually help me out. It also just occurred to me that I could get in touch with the kidney disease association here in the Netherlands. They’ll probably have some useful info too.

Thanks, nimbleskipper17 and darkbison81.

🙂
Right? That would be absolutely amazing! 🙂
Only thing is, these meds aren't for me—they're for my uncle. How am I supposed to prove to them that I'm not just trying to skirt the law? It's hard to get through to people when they've already made up their minds.
Has anyone here dealt with buying medication abroad and bringing it across the border?

Basically, next summer I need to pick up a few packs of NEO_REKORMON 2000 from the Netherlands and bring them over to the US.

I'll have a letter from the patient advocacy group, a valid prescription, and all the medical records.

Is this actually doable? And if it is, what else am I going to need to make sure I don't run into trouble?

If you know anything at all, please just post it here. Any info helps.🙂
My uncle and I would really appreciate the help.🙂
alfred stokes said:Watched it last night, UNFORTUNATELY.

What an absolute joke. Half the theater was cracking up at that pseudo-"deep" nonsense—the choices, the savior complex, just please... it was pathetic.
The scene where super-unlikable Trinity dies? Pure comedy gold. 🙂

I was there this past Saturday and the exact same thing happened. When Trinity FINALLY breathed her last, everyone stood up, let out a massive round of applause, and started shouting "Bravo!!!" People were actually tearing up, but mostly from laughing so hard. My stomach still hurts from it.

It was also hilarious when the kid goes, "But I didn't finish my training..." and his hero, that guy with the split face, dramatically pauses and says, "Neither did I."

🙂
