Height/Weight ratio in Health ·
The magic word is: SPORT!

Go run until you can't anymore, go swimming, go do whatever... just go play some basketball! The weight will drop off on its own.

Swimming is incredible—it works your entire body perfectly.

George Bailey2, margarine is actually part of a diet recommended for people dealing with high cholesterol. Just don't pair it with white bread or eat it right before bed. 😁

I was reading this book in American, translated from English. The author is some American guy, but I can't recall his name right now.

I've got the ISBN, the title, and the author's name somewhere. If nobody jumps in before then, I'll let you know tomorrow night. Sound good?

slyraven82: That stuff with the marshmallow root works wonders too. I didn't even bother using a dropper to go deep; just coating the inside of my nasal passages was enough.

Thanks for the tip!!

I’ve noticed that keeping the room well-ventilated makes a huge difference. My husband has to handle it, though—he opens everything up while I’m already tucked in bed, then closes it back up a few hours later (luckily he’s a night owl 😉). If I had to get out of bed to deal with the window, I'd freeze, and sleep would be impossible.

Well? Did you try it yet?

I swear, the issues start the second the central heating kicks on for the season. We keep the windows open all day and don't even turn the heat on in that room, but if I spend just 15 minutes lying next to an open window in the winter, my sinuses flare up immediately. 😢

I quit smoking, but I’m still dealing with this issue even this winter. My throat gets so incredibly dry that I can barely even speak in the morning until I manage to get some water down me.
Here is my fix: I just use regular ChapStick. I smear it right at the entrance of my nostrils, and then I can actually sleep through the night. (And no, I don't use it on my lips. 😁 )

We just happen to be one of those people with chronically dry nasal membranes.

P.S.: Nasal drops don't do a damn thing for me. 😢

Betty Hill82 said:I just kept talking about it, over and over again...

Then I just stopped. Stopped talking about it, and stopped smoking.

It's been 9 days. Spent them with my partner. Honestly, quitting has never felt this easy. I was bracing myself for a massive crisis, but nothing happened. Thank God for that...

Still, I always feel like a smoker who isn't smoking. I'm pretty sure it’ll follow me for the rest of my life. I'll never truly be a "non-smoker."

This was at the start of the third month.

And we still aren't smoking.🙂

We packed on weight like crazy—total pigs before a holiday feast😁—but we don't care.

Now we're just burning it off.🙄

The most important part: cigarettes don't even cross our minds anymore, and the smell of smoke is absolutely revolting.

We went through phases of being nervous, depressed, and just plain unpleasant to everyone else. We had zero motivation and spent hours obsessing over cigarettes while binge-eating... And then, suddenly, it all just stopped. Everything!

And I didn't turn into one of those former smokers who acts like a self-righteous moralist. 😁

One more thing: we noticed the worst cravings hit when we thought about how we would *never* light up again. That option stays open to us ALWAYS. So far, we haven't used it.

So there it is...

Wishing you all an easy nicotine detox. 🙂
The mental addiction is the biggest hurdle. I felt miserable and gross every time I'd sit down for coffee with my friends (who all smoke).
But that's solved too. Once you get into sports, your confidence comes back incredibly fast.😉

Michael Fox46 said:I drink way too much water

If you're loading up on salt in your diet, all that water you drink just sits in your system. You'll start retaining water in your body even before your monthly cycle hits. That’s why it feels like your stomach is suddenly bloating up.

You're drinking a ton of water, but honestly, that's fine since you're working out and using chili recipe.

🙂

Tanning beds in Health ·
Just when I finally let my guard down, a fire broke out at a local tanning salon—one woman actually died in one of the beds.😲 😱The others barely made it out alive, naked and terrified, while the whole place burned to the ground. 😢

For about six months after that, I was obsessed with checking if the plastic underneath was sturdy enough, and I started packing my clothes so I could just grab them and bolt if things went south.😁

It all depends on your workstation and how your dog reacts. If you’re at a new desk, they usually just run me through a quick few minutes of testing to see if my dog stays calm. If everything checks out, they let me back inside like I'm being ushered through a revolving door. 😁

Also, don't forget to pull the top part all the way down. 😁

A lot of people fail to get a good polish on the front side during those first few attempts. 😂 🤣

P.S.: Put me in that group too. 😁

And creams aren't one-size-fits-all either. You have to test out a few first before you can go around claiming that absolutely EVERYTHING is useless and doesn't work. 😉

restlesstiger31 said:You don't need lotion; it's overpriced and just helps with the color. If you want protection, wear sunglasses or just lie down and relax.
I've never bothered protecting my hair, and I'm doing just fine.

Thanks for the expert lecture, dear. 🙄 😁

Are you speaking from experience because you actually use lotion?
Sophia Castillo35, I use it so my tan looks smooth and even, not because I'm trying to turn jet black.
Plus, it’s great for hydration—my skin has never been dry or flaky (unlike some girls who skip moisturizer before hitting the tanning beds).

I usually shower right after tanning, which I can do because I use moisturizer.

😉

Personally, I hate walking around feeling sticky and gross. But hey, to each their own, right?

As for my hair, I didn't bother protecting it until I noticed my color fading fast and my ends getting super dry.

Now I just put it in a ponytail or wear a hat.

Sophia Castillo35 said:Does anyone have tips for tanning beds? Like, should I skip shaving on the day I go, or what?🙂

Use a body scrub first—you'll tan faster and get a much more even color.

It’s also a good idea to grab some tanning accelerator lotion. I'm not sure if they carry specific brands like that here in the States.

I always used Estée Lauder (the brown box with the white lid).

And protect your hair. 🙂

I used to make a habit of flipping myself over two or three times just to make sure the tan stayed even. 😎
How to perform a proper breast self-exam? in Women's Health ·
Alright—your measurements were tiny, but mine were peach-sized, so I got mocked on the forum again. And my primary care physician joined in on the joke too. 🙄

"Medical checkups are just unnecessary stress..."

It’s honestly ridiculous...

Someone actually asked how things were going with my family. My answer? Nobody has anything to show for it except the same old issues with bad luck.

Then they had the nerve to tell me not to worry. 🙄

For me, the exam wasn't stressful at all—if anything, I was just eager to find out what was going on. Honestly, I’d feel a lot more at peace if they handled this professionally instead of whatever this is. Right now, I’m basically begging my partner to check me every single month. He’s practically turned into an amateur expert at this point... 🙄

My mom tried once and nearly lost her mind—she said nothing looked normal to her. But she deals with the exact same issue I do, and somehow everything still looks just as small and symmetrical on both breasts.

When I first felt that huge lump in my upper left breast, I nearly blacked out before rushing straight to the doctor. At first, he actually told me it was a good sign that it was painful, but then he did the exam, started moping about how things didn't look right, and immediately set up a mammogram appointment for me at the clinic.

You can probably imagine the feeling (darkviper5 surely knows).

I’m 25, I smoke more than a pack of cigarettes a day, I’m basically 35 thanks to Diane, my hormones are a complete mess, and then there’s this...

After the memo, the specialist looked at me and asked, "So, what's the issue here?"

I explain everything, and he just gives me this little smile and says, "It's just some swollen glands."

Okay, if my primary care doctor couldn't figure it out, how am I supposed to know?

I do regular self-exams, but they don't tell me anything—there are so many lumps that I might as well spend every single month getting crushed between those metal plates at the imaging center...

Basically, they told me to just do it for peace of mind and only call them if something gets seriously large (🙄 ). What's even the point of any of this? 🤔

If your dad Josh would just listen for once—that would be great. 🙂
Did the psychiatrist say anything positive at all? Like, any sign that things might actually improve? 😢

How did your dad take the news? Did he end up saying anything to the doctor?

I just wish we could see some actual progress instead of spinning our wheels here.......

I'm still pulling for you...🙂
