Oh boy,
I totally blanked on this...

It’s like when you're watching
and just realize...
he's actually heading straight for number 4.
If my house were on fire and I only had enough time to grab one movie, I’d be choosing between these:

1. Lord of the Rings
2. The Color Purple
3. Shawshank Redemption
4. The Hunt for Red October
5. Forrest Gump
Moulin Rouge! by Baz Luhrmann in Movies ·
Honestly, I just thought the movie was absolutely fantastic.

I had such a wonderful time heading out to the theater with my girls to catch a beautiful romance—though I won't get into that heavy social issue lurking in the background, because honestly, let's just focus on the magic for a moment.
I actually really enjoyed the movie, mostly because I used to live in that country, so hearing a bit of the local American accent was such a nice touch, though I have to say I’m especially fond of Van Helsing and Faramir.
It’s honestly heartbreaking to read through these threads, and even more devastating to hear about someone young passing away prematurely
About eight months ago, I lost my father-in-law to cancer, and just two days ago, I found out from my dad's oncologist that he only has a few months left to live.
He had hepatocellular carcinoma that was successfully removed three and a half years ago, but now it has metastasized to his lungs.

I mean, it's just awful.
He's come to terms with it and doesn't want to fight anymore—he's just exhausted and sad, which is completely understandable, though he's refusing all our help (maybe it's all still too fresh).
We're actually going to reach out to another doctor today, mostly because of a segment we saw on the news last night regarding a drug called Sutent.

At least he's showing a tiny bit of movement now, but what's really weighing on me is finding out how to get some psychological support for my dad here in Chicago. Does anyone know who I can turn to or how that process works? Is there a local association or something similar that helps families deal with this?

Since everything is still so raw, I haven't had much of a chance to dig deep into the internet beyond checking out WebMD.
First Communion gift ideas? in Students & Teens ·
My nephew just had his First Communion and he was basically swimming in envelopes—the kid is loaded! So, maybe you could pick up something he actually needs, or even talk to his parents about getting him an English course or maybe a guitar

I personally gave him $67 plus four different kinds of cookies, and I spent the day helping serve about 50 guests

And honestly, everything would be fine if my own son wasn't waiting on his big day in about twenty days or so

My boy has everything he needs, really, but I wouldn't mind if he caught a little extra cash for some new glasses or maybe some fresh tires for his bike
Private lab recommendations? in Health ·
I'm pretty sure you have an Analysis lab over at Hillside located in the IBM building, right above the Walmart
The Golden Compass in Movies ·
I caught a movie on Netflix last night ---and I was honestly waiting to see what you all thought before I decided if it was worth grabbing a ticket for the theater--->>

So, yeah, my verdict? Don't bother going to the cinema

I haven't actually read the book, so I can't really make a comparison, but the movie itself is just... well, it's one of those things you put on when there's absolutely nothing else to watch on TV

Though, if I'm being totally honest, it wasn't even that bad

Jason Morris45 said:It’s actually pretty great. Sure, you can see it coming from a mile away, but man, is it a blast. I honestly can't believe nobody else has checked this out or said anything about it yet!

That’s exactly what I was wondering myself,😕
since I haven't sat down to watch it yet—I was just hanging back, waiting to see what you all had to say about it first.☕
What should I get for a godparent gift at a Baptism? in Students & Teens ·
Joseph Watson10 said:Back when my cat 😍 was the godfather, he picked out this bicycle for the little guy that ended up costing nearly nine thousand dollars. He can certainly afford it since he’s seriously dedicated to the sport, and honestly, it’s much better to give him something practical he can actually use rather than some religious necklace; I'm certain he would never have worn that.

This is just wonderful. 😍
I mean, who would ever think to give a child something useful? What kind of gifts are these? It's absurd... and now we're talking about restaurant industry dues. 😍

I'm really struggling to wrap my head around how to feel about all this.😕
The thing is, I don't actually want to—and frankly, I can't afford to—just throw money down the drain. I was originally thinking of just doing a simple home-cooked dinner at our place (there's about 10 of us), but then her dad had this grand idea that we could all chip in and host it together, where everyone just covers their own guests.
But, because she loves her child so much and because of her deep desire 🙏 to have all the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and the whole extended family there 😈—and look, I'm not exactly the biggest fan of huge family gatherings myself—I went ahead and found a restaurant that is absolutely top-notch. I've already worked out the details with them and even put down the deposit.
I told her straight up that this is the best possible gift I could give her, because honestly, what kind of woman wants to sit at a table surrounded by people she can't stand? (Only someone who loves her little one infinitely more than her own peace of mind! 😍 )

It's going to cost me quite a bit, and she’ll have to shell out some cash too, so at least I can view it as a way to make sure she feels appreciated since I'm making her wish come true. 🙂

People can judge me however they want on here, but if you ask me personally, I’d rather just scrap all these massive traditions altogether—you know, the baptisms, the communions, the confirmations, even the dedications—I'm just not really feeling the whole church ceremony thing lately. 🙂

Car seats—you know the ones... it’s one of those little things that seems minor until you realize it’s actually a massive deal

I wasn't the one who picked out her phone for her—her dad handles all that stuff, and he isn't living here with us

But honestly, you know how kids are, they just follow whatever the latest trend is; first it's everyone wanting these super slim smartphones, then suddenly it's all about whoever has the best camera for social media, and then it shifts again to those crazy devices that supposedly do everything at once (if you can even call them that)
To me, a phone should really just be for making calls and sending a quick text, but all this other high-tech nonsense? It's starting to feel like advanced calculus to me

Are you actually out of your mind? Seriously.

All that cash just for a godparent ceremony?
I mean, so what if you're the godfather. That's it.
If it were my daughter, I’d be happy with a tiny little something
but everyone keeps asking me—"What would you want to give?"

She just wants cold, hard cash. Every single one of those kids nowadays just wants money.
So I told her—okay, fine. If you get some cash, you can at least help me cover the bill at the restaurant.

And she totally lost it on me (16)—she tells me there's "no way"—though I know she was just thinking it.
The thing is, my kid already has everything—a computer, an MP3 player, two or three smartphones... I don't even know what else.
And she insists she doesn't need any of that stuff; she just wants the money so she can blow it on total nonsense. Literally.

If I were the godparent, I’d just buy a little piece of white gold as a keepsake, and leave it at that.
