I beg to differ.
But clearly, that guy doesn't have it all.
Look, you're starting off on the wrong foot here.

If someone is miserable, they don't have everything.

You can't possess everything and still be unhappy. Maybe what your friend has looks like the whole package to you, but to him, it isn't. "Everything" is subjective, and you just can't look at it that way.

Typical expats!
Why don't you just go hang out on an Icelandic Forum or something? Huh?
Why don't you try www.forum.is?

All you people ever do is lecture us Americans back home!
Jerks. 😠

So, they actually make money off these IQ tests?

Yeah 😉

I basically went out of my way to get every single answer wrong, and somehow ended up with an IQ somewhere between 89 and 100.
If you actually mess up everything that badly, you should probably be flagged as having a cognitive impairment and an IQ under 70.

This test is a total scam and completely useless!

cp.tar said:Man, why bother doing mental gymnastics when you can just look at the notches and grooves to toss out two or even three of the four options immediately?

That test is total nonsense.

That’s just your shortcut to finish faster. Honestly, spinning those puzzles around in your head when you could just eliminate half the answers by sight isn't exactly high-level intelligence.

Gregory Smith8 said:What does solving puzzles have to do with IQ? It feels more like a perception thing...

The idea is that you have to mentally rotate that piece to see if it actually fits into the empty slot. Or, you develop some specific strategy to recognize the shape.

That’s called mental rotation, and it pops up on IQ tests all the time.

So, Zare was the one putting that together. 🙄

In my book, crystallized intelligence is basically just general knowledge. I totally agree that the stuff most standard IQ tests focus on—like math, logic, and spatial reasoning—was way too easy this time around. They gave us way too much time to think about it.

On a different note --> why is knowing where the next Olympics will be held considered "general knowledge"? It feels like it’s only on those lists because trivia buffs love it. I’ve never once heard anyone in a normal conversation debating which city is hosting the next Olympics. Honestly, I think what used to be the big global event 20 or 50 years ago is now just the World Cup.

The book I’m currently working through defines psychology as the study of how we react to a stimulus, provided there's an actual object involved.

P --> O --> R

Take a soldier operating an artillery piece, for instance. He doesn't even have to blink when a massive explosion goes off right next to him. But then, you take a tiny, subtle stimulus—like someone whispering in his ear that his kid was just in a car wreck—and that can trigger a massive behavioral reaction.

Fear is incredibly irrational. It’s a myth that people only fear things larger than themselves. People will be terrified of just about anything, whether it's a mouse, a cockroach, or a T-Rex.

This whole thread is a mess, which pretty much makes it a joke.

If you actually intended this to be a deep dive into fear as a psychological phenomenon, maybe pull yourself together and you might actually get some useful feedback.

Just rambling and throwing random thoughts at the wall isn't going to get you anywhere besides padding your post count.

Once you decide to get serious and put together a coherent post, I’ll do my best to give you a real answer. The subject matter has potential, but so far, your posts just make it look like your brain is in a total knot. Go grab some water, get some sleep, and start a new thread. We’re closing this one.
Fragment of my tragus stuck in my ear in Health ·
A buddy of mine once had a similar procedure on his neck, and the surgeon sneezed mid-cut and sliced his aorta right open.

👍 Don't sweat it, it's just a little outpatient incision. 👍

BTW, that thing on your neck looks absolutely revolting, especially with all that pus surrounding it. The whole mess looks like a volcano about to blow... just colors of yellow, red, white, and brown everywhere... 🤮

Land of Plenty is an absolute train wreck of a movie.
I’ll be honest, I passed out three different times after about ten minutes, but apparently, I didn't miss anything worth seeing.

The whole thing was just terrible.😢

I skipped My Summer of Love.
Instead, I spent that time watching Ruins, and honestly, it was worth it.

The truth is, there were way too many heavy, dark films lately. Good ones, sure, but just heavy.
We definitely needed more comedies.

I’ve sat through 14 feature films so far.
I'll get around to the full review once I've had a chance to decompress... 😢

Nicole Vaughn said:From what I gathered, Darwin's Nightmare was actually pretty heavy and gut-wrenching. The most surreal part, though, was when some guy in the theater—during one of those scenes showing an entire continent dying on screen—just yelled out, "Turn on the AC, we're suffocating in here!" Honestly, it felt like he was providing his own commentary for the whole experience.

To stop keeping you guys in suspense: yeah, it was me. 😢

About halfway through the movie, it got so hot I completely lost my focus. I just had to sit down.
After about ten or fifteen minutes, I stood up and everything just started spinning. I nearly passed out—honestly, there was so little oxygen in the room I thought I was going under. I actually had to yell just to catch my breath.

They actually listened to me. 🙂

Later on, after I complained about them cutting the AC right before the movie and leaving it off for the rest of the show—something they actually did to Bauer a few times—they just brushed me off. Their excuse? Apparently, people were complaining that they were too cold. Typical.

Whatever.

I don't know about you guys...

But I think Dogville is pure genius.
The themes are totally different this time around, but it’s delivered in that exact same style that really clicks with me.

Honestly, such a great movie.

Another one from Lars von Trier.
It’s basically a spiritual successor to Dogville. Really solid stuff. It tackles racism and the whole "relativizing liberation" angle... hits hard.

Compared to the first in the trilogy, I think this one falls slightly short.
Still brilliant, though!
The sense of humor, the irony, the cynicism... it's all there.

Caught this morning while hanging out in Napa Valley, just as the final screening for the big hit of this year's Sundance Film Festival was about to kick off.

Cheers 😉

wiredfalcon2 said:The lead singer of Korn supposedly took his own life at the peak of his fame under some pretty shady circumstances. Then, for the next decade, the industry just manufactured this whole myth about the band and the guy, pushing them as one of the most influential acts ever. They ran that narrative a million times just so ten years later they could drop a "Best Of" compilation—you know the drill: remastered tracks, two unreleased songs, a bunch of random filler, and some old photos...

Yeah, right. If my foot fits, I'll wear it.

yet you guys start a new thread every twenty minutes about Nirvana, their greatest hits, their singles, their best of collections, etc. 🙂

If it bugs you that much, go check the Mod forum—you won't find any threads like this there.

It wasn't about being positive or negative; you were just talking trash without any filter.
Totally baseless, unfounded, and frankly, pretty stupid.

Rebecca Chase87 said:And what does it matter if I listen to Nirvana on my own time or not?

You're reading way too much into this.
Go back and read it again.
