JPMorgan Chase Go!Card help? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Timothy Kim9 said:If someone doesn't have their paycheck hitting a JPMorgan Chase account, could they still snag that Visa card?
Has anyone actually pulled this off?
Cheers

You don't need to be a JPMorgan Chase customer—meaning you don't need your salary landing there—to snag a Visa card.😉
They'll give you the full list of required paperwork at any local branch.

@mistyjackal842, if the retailer actually offered an installment plan, yet the person you're talking about ended up getting hit with interest, then—plain and simple—the merchant didn't process it as an installment plan at all. They just ran it as a standard transaction through the card (with all those lovely interest charges attached). If that's what happened, the bank isn't the culprit here; the fault lies entirely with the merchant for botched processing. I can't think of any other logical explanation 🤷
. As for Mastercard 🤷, every bank has its own specific criteria for approving cards. Why would one bank deny you a Mastercard while Citigroup was perfectly happy to give you a 🤷

mistyjackal842, could you clarify 🤣

Interest on the credit card is billed quarterly—pretty much identical to how JPMorgan Chase handles their checking accounts—meaning charges hit on 01.01., 01.04., 01.07., and 01.10. alongside any other costs due that month (I have mine set to auto-pay on the 20th). Interest is calculated based on the transaction amount starting from the notification date (which is 10 days before the payment deadline) until the balance is finally cleared.

Charles Moore78 said:There’s just one thing about this installment plan that I can't quite wrap my head around:
Here's the deal: the full amount was withdrawn upfront and split into 36 monthly payments. So, what I'm wondering is, in about five months, once there's roughly $200 back in the account that could potentially be used again—does that available credit apply toward the remaining 31 months, or does it somehow spread out over all 36 installments?

Once you pay down the balance and free up that credit limit, you can use it again—and yes, that newly used amount will be restructured into its own fresh 36-month installment plan.

Oh, by all means—let’s just go ahead and verbally assault anyone who dares to have an opinion even slightly different from our own without any consequences...

It's included 😉
tied to the payment assistants—it’s a service that covers checking and savings accounts (though it depends on which model you pick since there are three types of payment assistant... whether it's Chase online or another channel, a set number of free transactions, etc.). Additionally, alongside the payment assistant, you can opt for a service center (those are the "insurances" you're talking about—usually roadside assistance, home help, and travel insurance). You get access to that service center starting from $1.75 per month and up 😉
keep in mind you still have to pay for credit cards if you take the payment assistant, because their annual membership fees aren't bundled into the payment assistant. 🤷

edit: I honestly can't deal with this 🙈. What kind of "harassment" are we even talking about here, Matthew Ruiz2???? As far as I can see, we are all legally competent adults who presumably know how to say when we are interested in something or not. Furthermore, if Kate Howard3 had just allowed the lady at the bank to "harass" her for five minutes to ask all these obvious questions regarding the payment assistants, she wouldn't be coming to us for help now (not that I mind explaining, but she could have gotten the info she needed right then and there) 😉

Well, you should be getting your PIN delivered straight to your house every day. Just hang tight until the end of the week—if it doesn't show up, just swing by any Chase branch and have them issue you a new 😉
. Chase is basically the service that lets you check your balances, pay your bills, top up your phone, and all that jazz. Make sure you hang onto that initial PIN they sent you until your mobile data is actually up and running 😉

The PIN you received for your Chase account isn't actually your card's PIN—that’s why you kept getting those error messages. Your actual card PIN should arrive via mail about a week after the physical card hits your doorstep. If it hasn't shown up by then, just head down to a local Chase branch and have them reissue it.
Regarding the mobile banking app—first, get an agent on the line to set up your online access. From there, you can either post back here or call the number listed in those instructions they gave you at the branch 😉

If you’re planning on grabbing the cash upfront and then hunting for a vehicle later—fine—your only real move is a standard personal loan 🤷
just watch your step, though; the interest rates are higher and the insurance requirements can be a total headache...

So, just how effectively are you going to explain the 🤷
process to your average car buyer? It’s one thing—but when it comes to dealing with the bank, you can certainly pull 😉
off.

In that case, there's really no need to take possession of the vehicle—not when you're just paying more in fees based on whatever ridiculous schedule JPMorgan Chase decides to charge you. Instead, just sign a bill of sale specifying that a portion of the funds will go directly toward settling your loan, and the buyer hands you the rest in cash. Once the loan is cleared, the bank issues a lien release, and you simply transfer the title to him. It’s much cleaner.

It works—either they step in to take over your loan entirely (a formal assumption of debt), or they secure their own financing to buy out your car and settle your balance in one go.

You can't use a mortgage to pay off an auto loan—mortgages are strictly for housing, and right now, the bank is demanding proof of how you spend every cent, even just a fraction of it. 😉
Once that car loan is fully settled, the bank will issue a lien release and clear the title—just a heads-up, though, don't be shocked when it takes about ten days for the paperwork to actually process through the DMV.

You have the option to opt out of collision coverage if you really want—it's your call as the owner—but keep in mind they’ll slap an alienation clause in the title, meaning you can't flip the car until the loan is cleared. Instead of full collision, you could just stick to the mandatory liability insurance (which isn't optional anyway) and call it a day. The interest rates are significantly lower than a standard personal loan—though you'll deal with slightly higher notary fees—and that’s pretty much the long and short of it. 😍

This falls squarely under the creditworthiness category 😉
JPMorgan Chase has this policy where they insist your monthly car loan payment doesn't eat up more than a third of your paycheck—it's all about that debt-to-income ratio. The vehicle itself serves as the collateral, plain and simple. 🤷

A Go card isn't even an option if they're just working under a student contract. They might be able to get an overdraft approved—if, that is, those funds are actually hitting a JPMorgan Chase account 🤷
