The format really isn't the main issue when you're talking about a movie. Nobody mentioned anything about saving storage space here.

Well, honestly, five hundred tapes would take up quite a bit of room..
Laura Palmer25 said:My apologies, currency exchange rates aren't exactly my specialty.😍

So, one single VHS tape could have bought you three DVDs, which could hold anywhere from 10 to 21 DivX movies...

Probably 7-$2.75?

It’s actually quite refreshing to see Moore taking a backseat in this film. That segment set in Cuba felt a bit over-the-top, though; I think the local Cuban propaganda definitely played up the drama there.
Kenneth Lee16 said:Come on, don't mess with me. I built this massive storage unit and I need to fill it with something. Would 400 used DVDs be a good start? Maybe around $450? I won't pay more than $110 for Microsoft tapes. I want the originals since this is for a hospitality business.

A buddy suggested I just get a hard drive with 500 DivX titles... but who wants to deal with such outdated tech? This physical method is much easier. You just grab a disc and pop it in.

You have a point. Double-clicking a DivX file is such an exhausting physical chore.

how could that possibly have anything to do with them? they don't have the power to cut scenes from a movie or fix errors.

That isn't how editing works. Projectionists receive the films in a completely different format. I believe someone mentioned this previously.
Kenneth Lee16 said:I am looking to spruce up a living room and this idea just struck me. A chip investment.

I am not quite sure how budget-friendly that would actually be. An empty DVD is much cheaper than an old VHS tape. Not to mention the issues with storage space, picture quality, audio, and media longevity...
Kenneth Lee16 said:High-end TVs are still quite an investment for me. I am considering picking up two solid video players along with about 400 original VHS tapes. Does anyone know the current market value for those items?

Blu-ray and HD DVD have already taken over the market... and you are looking to buy VHS tapes? I am truly speechless.
Do you have any idea when the next version will be released?

Just mute the player and turn the contrast down to zero, and you're all set.

While I've developed a real soft spot for Asian cinema lately—think Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea—I still find myself gravitating toward the USA. Honestly, most of my all-time favorites come from Hollywood. Even though a lot of what's coming out of the States right now feels pretty mediocre, there's always that one standout gem that makes it all worth it.

The humor lands perfectly, Megan is even better than expected, and those family dialogues? Pure genius. The soundtrack is a total vibe too. The lead actor definitely has potential—he just needs to find his own unique spark (haven't seen Paranoia yet, by the way). There are tons of easter eggs tucked in there, just like someone else already pointed out, and honestly, I don't need to say anything about those "greatest movie ever" claims.
Bottom line: it's a fun ride, but an 8.1 on IMDb feels a bit much (even compared to a masterpiece like Zodiac). I am just glad Rotten Tomatoes bumped up their impression with a score around 55%.

That is why you should always check the user ratings.

It is actually pretty strange that females under 18 were giving it the highest scores.

By the way, if you’ve got any other Western recommendations—you know, the ones with those gritty, unconventional interpretations😬 and characters that actually feel real—hit me up. Besides The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean, I’d say Missouri Breaks (with Marlon Brando 🙏) and The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid are my top picks...

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid...

I can play around with those settings over the next few days...

I'd suggest trying to build a way to customize the extension instead...the essentials should be:

-forums placed above these options
-a distinct and easy-to-find option to mark all posts as read

Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg didn't miss a single beat.

The effects are incredible and hit hard and often, but they don't step on the toes of anything else; the plot is solid too—nothing groundbreaking or deep, but it doesn't need to be, and it’s paced perfectly.

There is just so much good stuff here... specifically the humor, which is way better than those so-called comedies clogging up theaters lately. I can't even remember the last time I laughed that hard. And the romance isn't shoved in your face or even playing second fiddle; it's just tucked in there nicely, totally unobtrusive, and fits the whole vibe seamlessly.

You’ll find a few cliché moments that true action junkies are going to absolutely love (if you aren't an action fan, honestly, why are you even here?), and they'll definitely pull a smile out of you. There are even some Easter eggs scattered around, little nods to previous work by Bay...

The soundtrack is the usual high quality, with a few scenes that give off a bit of a Dwayne Johnson vibe, which is a nice touch if you ask me.

And yeah, for the people who are going to complain—NO, the movie is NOT realistic. There are plenty of stunts and impossible scenarios that wouldn't happen in the "real world," so anyone who starts whining...
"Transformers suck because, like, they get hit by fifteen missiles and nothing happens."
"Transformers suck because they just keep shooting and never run out of ammo."
"It sucks because they jump twenty feet into the air."
...should probably just shut up, because frankly, they're being idiots.
Overall, in my book, this is the best adaptation of an anime/manga ever made. Rating: 10/10.

Hmm. Did you happen to include Akira and Ghost in the Shell in your list? I always find those two essential when discussing the classics.

It’s honestly a bit heartbreaking to watch. Seeing how they completely butchered that film... it just isn't the same.

I simply meant his action movies hold up much better than most modern releases.

But the truth is, The Fast and the Furious isn't even a pure action movie..

What's your take on this one?

It looks interesting enough. Seeing Kevin Costner play the villain is a nice change of pace. It reminds me a bit of Killer 7.

Sean Harris98 said:You should look into it a bit more deeply; one side of his facial muscles died off due to paralysis.

Birth complications, caused by forceps, resulted in paralysis of the lower left side of his face, manifested by a perennial snarl and slurred speech.

So, it wasn't childhood paralysis after all.

I actually just watched him in Death Race 2000. He was quite good, though he gets beaten up in the movie.
