George Clooney protects an infant from hitmen led by Paul Giamatti. 😁
What a wild ride; the visuals feel just like playing a video game, which reminded me of Max Payne. 😁

At least, that's how it sounds based on your description.

In my opinion, he hasn't made a movie yet that isn't absolutely worth watching—and honestly, he’s delivered several all-time classics, like the new Batman, The Prestige, Memento... but his films (unless there are rare exceptions) almost always struggle at the US box office, which is clearly what's happening here. 🤷

When I first caught a glimpse of the trailer for Independence Day, I honestly had this Independence Day daydream that it would be the greatest SF film ever made. And in some ways, it was—those aerial dogfights were crafted so well they actually gave me chills, and the core concept of an invasion is just pure madness. However, there is such an abundance of typical Hollywood tropes that makes the whole thing a bit difficult to swallow. I mean, just consider how none of the main characters seem to show even a shred of genuine fear; everyone acts as if they have more bravado than sense, always finding the right moment to crack a joke. And then there are those Cuban cigars... it’s such a tired cliché that you can hardly find an action movie nowadays without them.
War of the Worlds feels much more grounded when it comes to how people actually react to terror, though it is a shame there aren't more direct combat sequences, which I suppose is its primary flaw. It does feature some truly excellent moments (like that scene with the burning train passing through), but the ending feels rushed, doesn't it? You barely realize the machines are falling before the credits start rolling.

Nathan Myers28 said:Both movies feel a bit hollow, honestly—though I have to give them credit for having top-tier special effects! If I had to pick a winner, my vote goes to Independence Day just because I enjoy it more, but let’s be real: both films fall pretty short when you hold them up against a masterpiece like Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Nathan Myers28 said:I mean, what exactly are you expecting to happen when... Quentin Tarantino He writes screenplays.🤷 I found the opening of Pirates of the Caribbean to be quite engaging. However, I felt nearly moved to tears by such a bad ending. $6.75.
Sophia Castillo35 said:That isn't an error; it's by design. It looks like you might be using Google. If you figure out how to get rid of that box after disabling ads, let me know. 😉
The only solution left is to switch over to Chrome and install AdBlock Plus to kill it for good.

Lawrence Booth2 said:So, how on earth do you name an American movie that manages to be horror, sci-fi, drama, thriller, and romance all at once?
😁
It’s just an Asian film... I assume you’re thinking of Hong Kong or Japan...
A good Japanese film, a bad Japanese film... a good Japanese horror comedy, or a bad Japanese sci-fi horror comedy.

I really dislike the term "trash" ☕
I have about 1,100 unwatched movies
and a dozen series😲

I honestly have no idea what one would even do with 800 DVDs. I wouldn't even know where to store them all. 😁
