Underrated movies? in Movies ·
Christian Myers said:uff, there are plenty. I could write pages about them. Most of them are just straight-up boring. But honestly, who even remembers? The last one was Spartak. Though, man, they really dragged that one out. I made it through two and a half hours before my internet cut out and I just gave up. Can't even remember if I ever actually finished it.

I figured you weren't feeling it from your other post too... 😁

Thanks for the input, everyone.
Christmas definitely takes the lead, but man, it’s not even close.

Does anyone actually know if there are any decent, modern family comedies out about this holiday?

I mean, there’s a million Christmas movies out there, but I honestly can’t think of a single one for this holiday.
Sandkings (1995) in Movies ·
I’m honestly just as hyped for this as I am for the new Dune! 👍

Action thrillers with horror elements in Movies ·
driftingcanyon2 said:Actually, Aliens and Predator fall under Sci-Fi / Horror, so they don't really fit into this category.

But they're definitely action movies.

Aliens, though it would’ve felt more like a war movie than an action flick.

Obviously Predator 1 and 2.

As for thrillers, I haven't got a clue...
The Scream Trilogy! in Movies ·
I think I might've heard about the second one, but the third? Not really... 🤦
L.A. Confidential (1997) in Movies ·
Jesse Ortiz4 said:Anyone who’s actually sat through this movie knows there are some killer scenes in here. The fact that they haven't quite hit mainstream pop culture status yet is just another story entirely. 😒

Lana Turner scene

The Big Nowhere

So, which scene would be your absolute favorite?

I love this flick, honestly. But for me, nothing beats that interrogation scene with Danny de Vita.😁

Noah Roberts46 said:There’s a massive amount of them out of Los Angeles. For me, The Long Goodbye is easily one of my favorites. You can't talk about this without mentioning Heat either—specifically that intense driving sequence with Pacino following De Niro on the freeway during New Dawn Fades. 🙏

Mulholland Drive and The Big Lebowski belong on that list too. 😬

I'd go with Heat, even if it feels a bit forgettable despite having such an incredible cast.

Spaced will always have my heart. 🙂

In my opinion, this is the best of the Cornetto trilogy, though Shaun of the Dead is right up there. I really hope that trio teams up again—I’d even argue The World's End holds its own, even if people tend to rate it lower. I just love that specific style, the music, and the direction.

Great video. I noticed the new movie is leaning into horror; I'm genuinely curious to see how they handle that genre.

I mean the new one with all the ghosts, Truth Seekers.

The thing is, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost aren't even in most of the scenes together, and honestly, their chemistry is the whole reason those movies work so well.

Man, I absolutely love this movie. 👍

Their new series? Not really my thing...
Golden Globes 2021 in Movies ·
Noah Roberts46 said:Honestly, it’d be a total shock if Borat doesn't snag one given how much buzz there is. 😬

But yeah, Alexander Hamilton just isn't on that level. I feel like people are straight up checking out when it comes to caring about the Golden Globes or the Oscars—you can see it in the ratings.

Personally, Borat never really did it for me.

Now, that G film was a fun, goofy comedy though. I’d still watch it anytime.

But Borat? It sucked as a bit, let alone as a whole movie.

A John Carter rip-off...
Cruella de Vil (2021) in Movies ·
Wait, didn't they already make a Harley Quinn movie?

I’m calling it now: it's gonna be a total flop at the box office.
Best Neo-noir recommendations? in Movies ·
Arthur Moore97 said:It’s a bummer... People can't ever agree on what actually counts as Neo-noir. It’s always a debate. Like, is Pulp Fiction Neo-noir? I say yeah, absolutely. But Fight Club? Nah, doesn't fit for me. Since I don't really have one single "all-time favorite," I'll just list ten of them, going from oldest to newest.

Chinatown
Blood Simple.
Pulp Fiction. Pure gold.
Fargo. Such a classic. It’s just one of those movies that sticks with you.
L.A. Confidential
A Simple Plan.
Mulholland Drive.
Oldboy
Sin City. Pure visual madness. It’s like someone took a bunch of gritty comic book panels, threw them into a blender with some heavy shadows, and hit pulse. Totally wild stuff.
Nightcrawler.

There are a few more candidates that could make the cut. This was just the first thing that popped into my head. What’s your take on Film Noir? Also, what are your all-time favorites in the genre?

Pulp Fiction isn't exactly Neo-noir. Honestly, I couldn't really make that case for Nightcrawler either.
The Little Things (2021) in Movies ·
Jack Murphy5 said:It isn't exactly recent, but check this out: https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0228786/?ref_=m_nmfmd_act_55

Yeah, something like that.

Honestly, I have no clue why I never actually sat down to watch it.

Though, I think I'd prefer something set down in the USA.

Brenda Parker5 said:Honestly, this one was totally alright for me lately.https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7711170/?ref_=nm_knf_i3

Thanks for the tip, but that’s basically just a horror movie to me.

I'm looking for a serial killer vibe set in some small town, where a big-city detective rolls in to help the locals.

Give me something totally cliché, honestly, as long as the atmosphere is spot on.

Noah Roberts46 said:Not bad. It’s been way too long since we’ve seen a decent serial killer flick. Anyone got any solid recommendations before this one actually hits theaters?

I just finished watching the Korean classic Memories of Murder, and man, I'm craving something newer with that same heavy atmosphere.
