Just finally caught that Red Letter Media review
http://redlettermedia.com/half-in-th...man-interview/
I gotta say, if those guys are right—and they usually are, except when it comes to Simon Pegg—then this movie is basically everything Kick-Ass should have been. 👍
The Non-Aligned Movement in World ·
bluerider63 said:Even those Non-Aligned folks have their own little cliques. They basically just grouped themselves into the "non-aligned" category. 😁

Honestly, I still find the whole thing kind of baffling—there are 118 nations out there, which means about two-thirds of the entire world belongs to the Non-Aligned Movement.

But let's be real, what kind of places are we actually talking about here?

Most of them are just dictatorships drawn up on a map by former colonizers. They're super poor, and even worse, there's zero hope for things to actually get better, especially when you look at the African members.

Chloe Palmer2 said:Not 😬 I suppose the sequel is the superior film, featuring Marines facing off against a swarm of Alien. That’s just how that universe was meant to be. 😬

If I remember right, people call this one of the best war movies ever made. Period.
It’s also a masterclass in how to pull off low-budget sci-fi. They only had like six Alien masks on set, but somehow they made it look like there were a hundred of them running around. Pretty wild.

Most of these nations popped up right after decolonization, and when it came to how they actually ran things, they were mostly either socialist setups or just straight-up dictatorships.

To be honest, these countries didn't do much for their own people. Usually, the only thing keeping everyone together was a shared, burning hatred for their old colonial bosses and a deep resentment toward the USA.

They mostly hung out with the Soviet Union, but they lost all their leverage once some members refused to call out the USSR for invading Afghanistan.
Kevin Smith's Red State (2011) in Movies ·
I’m not really one to spoil a movie before watching it, but honestly, this feels a bit like a dig at Americans who aren't, you know, straight out of Beverly Hills or Manhattan.
Especially since Smith himself comes from the "real" USA—working-class New Jersey.
Your Highness (2011) in Movies ·
Man, what a mindless, boring slog of a movie.

There are honestly only three decent things about it: that redheaded Wonder Woman sucking the life out of everything (the rest aren't terrible, I guess), plus
-that weird bit with the Minotaur's junk.
-the shocker when they kill off Conan the Barbarian right after he joins the crew.

I'm not really feeling Frank in this one. And Portman? She was pretty bad here, though I can't blame her too much—the role itself just wasn't anything special.

The rest of them aren't even worth mentioning. Especially that Briton guy; he was super weak here, which is a bummer because I usually dig him in Path of Vengeance.

It isn’t about being politically correct—it’s simply that the organization's greeting is Hail Hydra, not Sieg Heil. Besides, the Marine Corps wears a stylized eagle on their covers, so we can safely assume there's a swastika in its talons.

Even the guys over at Half in the bag are scratching their heads wondering why there isn't a single swastika in sight.

gentlebadger88 said:The movie was decent enough, I guess, but nothing to write home about. It’s packed with action, the cast actually puts in some work, and the plot holds up okay... there are definitely some logic gaps here and there, but honestly, who cares? It’s not like it ruins everything. The ending is left wide open, just like pretty much every other Marvel flick, so you know they're already cooking up a sequel. Now we're all just sitting around waiting for The Avengers 🙂.

The only good parts are how much it looks like the comic and the hot British actress. Everything else sucks, even for a mindless summer blockbuster.

Captain America: The First Avenger deserves better

Michelle Hill38 said:Why do they keep pushing that Adolf Hitler stuff? I mean, seriously, what the hell 🤣 could they have done to at least handle it properly.

It’s just this pathological need for political correctness. If you actually pay attention, you won't even see a single swastika in the movie, and most of the action takes place in Europe during World War II.
Due Date (2010) in Movies ·

that movie was a total wreck

I don't know, it was pretty weak, but honestly, it could've been way worse. Let's be real—hardly any comedies coming out in the US these days are even worth watching anyway.
Due Date (2010) in Movies ·
So, anyone catch Due Date starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis?

Honestly, it’s just your standard road trip comedy. The pacing is all over the place, too.

Most of the laughs basically rely on Jack's character being super annoying and Robert's character being totally pissed off.

The whole plot follows this straight-laced guy who gets kicked off a plane because of some heavy-smoking nuisance, then he's stuck trekking halfway across the USA with him just to make it to his kid's birth.

It's your typical modern comedy. I will say though, it could have been way worse. Not exactly crying about the time I spent watching it.

A Bronx Tale (1993) in Movies ·
Solid movie, classic de Niro performance here.
Your Highness (2011) in Movies ·
Did Portman film this before or after her pregnancy?
Laura Martinez2 said:To crowd complaining about historical inaccuracies. I’ll probably get flagged for this, but you people are absolute idiots. 🤦

Great movie and a solid setup for The Avengers. The acting is top-tier; Jones is a powerhouse. 🙏 High-octane action, a straightforward plot with just enough humor. Even the romance works—it stays on the periphery where it belongs in an action flick, yet still manages a somewhat unexpected twist.

Look, my point wasn't about the plot or the history being off. It was about the lack of actual movement and characters that feel real.
Honestly, it was pretty weak.

I’m not even gonna get into the craziness of hundreds of American soldiers just trekking into Austria just to liven things up back in 1943. The real issue is the movie just lacks actual characters and atmosphere.

Everything had potential—Stark, that hot British officer—but it all fell flat.👎
There's this guy with a mustache and some Chinese person in there too, but they didn't bother fleshing them out at all...🤷
PS
Natalie Dormer looks incredibly sexy with that blonde hair; she's basically the only bright spot in the whole thing, along with that scene where Captain America gives his speech to the troops.
I think he was mostly just throwing shade at Mexicans. People don't really associate us with that kind of stuff, unless you're one of those readers following Drakulićka's columns or whatever.

I was watching this movie with Daniel Craig the other day about the mob in New York City and some Mexican mobster, and the guy actually says, "those nationalist groups are crazy."

Nobody views Americans through that lens. Besides, we don't even have a moderate far-right party in the US Congress, except for maybe the Republican Party and the Libertarian Party—that’s only like 5 out of 153 representatives total.
darksurfer4 said:If the FBI had been able to step in and stop the crime by monitoring his online activity, then we're talking about real hardcore hate speech🤷😕🤷

In the US, maybe 35 to 70% of people lean conservative. Should we be monitoring all of them?
darksurfer4 said:The real takeaway here, if we’re being honest, is that the right wing seriously needs to start paying closer attention. This guy is a total internet freak; I mean, he spent god knows how much time lurking on every extreme right-wing forum out there. If anyone had just bothered to track his digital footprint and keep an eye on his online activity, they could have figured out his entire agenda way sooner than this...

Now this is straight-up hardcore hate speech.
Joseph Peterson6 said:This thread is nothing more than hate speech directed at two specific political parties in 👎 I expect the moderators will recognize that as well

Man, this whole forum thread is a mess. It’s honestly tragic that our news outlets actually ran with that as the headline. 👎
