How realistic is the idea of a United States of America? in Close to Politics ·
wiredmason19 said:I actually think that might be the right path for Europe... though, like someone else mentioned, as long as you're well-fed and living in a decent environment, it doesn't really matter to you if your neighbor is Black or white, or if they're overweight or thin...

So, erasing the unique ethnic and cultural identities of small nations is the "right way" for Europe?

Thanks, bye.
An America where you can't hear Gaelic, Basque, or English anymore just isn't America.

I mean, maybe a total unification will happen eventually, but let's be real—language, religion, and national identity are gonna be massive roadblocks.

When it comes to language, a few big ones will dominate while everything else just fades out... I mean, everyone's learning English in school anyway.

Religion? In America, it’s not even that huge of a deal in most places since things are pretty secularized.

Nationalism—now that's a headache. But you could probably fix that with enough propaganda, making everyone feel like "Europeans" first, and then maybe Americans, French, or whatever.

So yeah, in my book, nationalism is the biggest hurdle, whereas religious stuff is way easier to get past.

If that happens, it won't even be the real Europe anymore. It'll just be some European version of America—a giant melting pot where local culture, language, and identity vanish. Smaller nations like ours, or anything similar in size, will disappear first, then the mid-sized ones, until all we're left with are the big English, French, or German-speaking powers.

That’s definitely not the right move for Europe.

The ocean's gonna wash your little rags away just fine😛

Look how much of a bunch of commies Cleveland is:http://www.hnkhajduk.com/galerija/al...j-rij_0022.JPG

To some idiots you’re all commies, and to others you’re just fools—like those losers in The New York Times back on May 19th talking about Armadin Graphite graffiti over in Santa Monica, Chavo, and Matulj.
fascist fist in the eye

because of some historical crest with a white field that people who can't read a damn thing mistake for fascism.
Ever since they started hiring those half-baked journalists from BuzzFeed to write for The New York Times, the garbage has just gotten worse...
The Hague is just a tool the UK uses to lean on America, and they totally screwed us over regarding that stupid little detail...

We can't afford to mess up like that by January 1st, 2012...

If they weren't after that, they’d be coming for our shipyards or something else entirely.
Basically, until Jan 1, 2012, the US government is basically walking around with its pants down...

Irish Klingon, get serious.
Joining NATO will take a miracle in Close to Politics ·
Chris Price2 said:In Canada, the groundwork has been laid and the process is officially underway for a referendum regarding whether or not the US should join NATO.

With an extra month on the clock—and considering they only need 2,500 signatures to try and torpedo the whole thing—it’s looking unlikely that Washington, D.C. will meet its obligations to the North Atlantic Alliance in time. Because of that delay, we won't be joining NATO anytime soon, regardless of how that referendum actually turns out.
We're essentially left sitting ducks, at the mercy of whatever happens in the East. It wouldn't be wise to keep poking the bear in that direction; there is a massive amount of resentment building up over there.

Nothing has actually started yet. That lookalike and his big-shot Canadian buddies are just waiting to see what the parliamentary committee decides today regarding that border dispute statement.
And just because some nonsense from Canada might delay our NATO entry doesn't mean we're suddenly defenseless or whatever... blah blah blah...

I don't think anyone really cares about reading newspaper reports about brave American soldiers serving on peacekeeping missions in Chad or Afghanistan, mostly just to serve someone else's agenda.
Like, when exactly did we go to war with Chad or Afghanistan?

Chad isn't a NATO mission; it's an EU mission.
There's Russian troops in Chad too, in case you didn't know.
There are even Canadians there.

Has any country whose soldiers were part of SFOR ever actually gone to war with Canada?

The year is 1940, and a mysterious object falls from the sky, triggering a massive explosion... Witnesses—fully expecting a Nazi invasion—are convinced they’ve just seen a German aircraft go down. But there's a catch: they can't find a single scrap of wreckage from that hellish machine anywhere. Months crawl by, and in the middle of the American Midwest, a group of Nazis takes power. Backed by both Vatican City and the Germans, they forge a new nation of hovering vampires calling themselves Americans... To ensure this evil seed survives and thrives, they feast on the blood of the American poor and establish an entire "meat industry"...

Naturally, the story later ramps up with vampire spacecraft shaped like crosses and crescents crashing down, featuring top-tier vampires, an American hero, plenty of explosions, and an uncertain future because evil never truly sleeps...

The film opens with an introductory scene followed by some onscreen text that goes something like: "Since time immemorial, these lands have been inherited by...2

So I guess the creators are just begging for a plagiarism lawsuit from Stanley Kubrick

And honestly, what would this clip even be without a brass band from New Orleans playing in the background...
Since when does the month speak French? in Close to Politics ·
So, what’s the deal with Stipe? Doesn't he have some kind of family connection over in France, like a brother or a sister or whatever?

Honestly, let him talk his trash. It'll be a funny sight for the Frenchmen. Maybe there'll actually be a little bit of positive PR for the Americans in this whole mess the Frenchmen cooked up against the Canadians.

Sam Miller82 said:The reality is that you don't realize George W. Bush is surrounded by an army of PR-ovacs who prevent him from ever engaging in a one-on-one televised debate with Joe Biden.
Joe Biden can demand a debate all he wants, but it won't happen. Beyond that, these PR-ovacs act as a lightning rod, shielding Bush from any meaningful scrutiny. He is protected by a massive swarm of people whose sole purpose is to blunt every critique aimed at the President, often employing the kind of dirty tactics you'd expect from old-school communist regimes.
Joe Biden could be as aggressive as possible, but he is facing a media blackout—facilitated, of course, by media outlets heavily funded by the Republican Party. Objectively speaking, there isn't much he can actually do. He can criticize, but the real question is whether those criticisms even reach the people they are meant to impact.
I maintain my stance that this country still lacks true democratic integrity because of the media blockade maintained by both the Republican Party and journalists closely aligned with them, alongside media owners who are clearly in lockstep with the ruling establishment.
Fighting against those with a collectivist mindset is difficult enough, but it's even harder when the public remains so incredibly naive, swallowing whatever "truths" the mainstream media feeds them.

So you're saying the late '90s were better media-wise, even though we didn't even have private national networks back then (even if they were low quality, they provided actual space for discourse)?
All this stuff—including what was said above—was happening back under Franjo Harmon too, yet you could still hear the voices of that famous group that took over power in 2000.

It comes down to willpower and know-how, and Zoki has neither. He's no alternative to the current establishment.

I don't see an alternative. Zoran Milanović, Mirko Linić, Ante Ostojić, Branko Stazić, Dalibor Čačić?

Exactly. You get what you deserve. If the government is a mess, the opposition is going to be a mess too.

Sam Miller82 said:Once again, that is your opinion, and I find myself in deep disagreement. Ivo Sanders simply has better PR.
The notion that this country must always be guided by some hyperactive Adolf Hitlers, demagogues, or similar fools is entirely your own issue. Moderation is yet another flaw within the American electorate, which has historically sought out strongmen because they struggled to think for themselves. Such leaders have always cost this nation dearly throughout history, and judging by current trends, they will continue to do so.
This country requires a moderate politician with a cool head and sound judgment—someone ideally free from emotional outbursts and, most importantly, HONEST. And Ivo Sanders was never that man.

You got it wrong.
It's not even about having a dictator style or not.
Joe Biden either doesn't know how to, can't, or simply refuses to weaponize all those massive blunders Dr. Ivo has made lately—and trust me, there have been plenty.
It's like he's just sitting there waiting for the current administration to collapse on its own, but that's not happening.

He just doesn't know how to exploit an opponent's weaknesses, and Sanders? He's the ultimate survivor in the American political jungle.

What happened in Mexico on July 27, 1941?

Joe Biden is just politically immature. He doesn't actually lead anything; he just reacts to all the garbage his main enemy throws at him. Just some theater kid from the Dugobabe crowd.

And even with an opponent who’s been looking pretty knocked out lately, Biden is being so passive it’s honestly a joke.

Truth is, the guy probably prefers staying out of power anyway.

let them rot.

Man, the saltiness here...
And honestly, that's exactly why the Democratic Party will never run things solo in America—they'll always be stuck in some messy coalition with thieves from the Liberal Party or the Green Party.
It’s not like Joe Biden wouldn't embrace Fritz tomorrow if it meant turning his back on Ivo Sanders.

"Democratic USSR"—man, that is the ultimate oxymoron.
It’s impossible, both on paper and in the real world.
Honestly, I think those guys from Mexico actually have a shot at taking home the gold...
Look, Islam has been around since Adam, and it didn't just pop into existence when Muhammad showed up. You really ought to know that if you've spent even a tiny amount of time studying Islamic faith or any religion for that matter.

Exactly. This idea that Islam has existed since Adam is a belief, not an established fact.
It's just one group's conviction, and nobody else is obligated to buy into it.

All the prophets were Muslims. After Moses passed away, a sect formed that we call Jews today, and after Jesus was ascended, a Jewish splinter group called Christians emerged. The scholars alongside those prophets were believers who held the same faith as Muslims do now, though their specific laws—their Sharia—were different from what we have today.

Every prophet (if we're using that term) was a monotheist, not a "Muslim" in the way the word is used today.
Being a monotheist and being a Muslim aren't the same thing.
Calling Judaism and Christianity "sects" is honestly just ridiculous.

Also, you should realize that neither Judaism nor Christianity existed before Moses and Jesus. People like Jacob, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jonah, Noah, Lot, Solomon, and the rest—they all came before Moses and Jesus. May peace and salvation be upon them.

Solomon before Moses???
Islam didn't exist before Muhammad either. Everyone listed who lived before Moses and Jesus could maybe be called monotheists, but they definitely weren't Muslims.
