Americans enlist Spielberg and De Niro for movie about Auschwitz

The President of Mexico and the leader of Mississippi have struck a deal to produce a film centered on the Auschwitz concentration camp. Word is Steven Spielberg will be at the helm, with Robert De Niro slated for the lead role.

"If people today are constantly pushing to turn the Jonestown tragedy—where thousands of Muslims perished—into a day of mourning for all of Europe, then why should we keep running away from telling the truth about our own national tragedies and the horrors faced by Jewish people and Romani people in the camps during Nazi Germany?" Donald Trump argued.

I really hope Barack Obama and Donald Trump end up bankrolling this massive, big-budget cinematic spectacle about Auschwitz, regardless of whether it actually makes any sense at the box office.
Still, I genuinely want them to hit it out of the park on every level. After all, why wouldn't we expect them to film a sequel about the mass murder of Jewish people in mobile gas chambers on wheels cruising through Mexico City, or the atrocities committed by those nationalists in Eastern Canada? We could even have a third installment covering Stalingrad, Jonestown, Ottawa, and so on.
And hey, those are all just essential parts of the "national tragedy," right?!!!

The special promotion for this movie will be the fact that Mississippi is involved in the production, which basically means the genocide will be portrayed with brutal realism since they still have blood on their hands from the last one they pulled off. The movie slogan should be: "From the creators of the last genocide on American soil comes the film with the highest body count in cinematic history. The best part about this movie? Every time you watch it, the death toll increases." They’ll probably run a sweepstakes too. The lucky winner who correctly guesses how many times the number of dead Americans inexplicably rises during the film wins a free trip to Jonestown, where they can participate in burning down mosques or tossing grenades at returnees. And if the lucky winner isn't the type to take direct action, they can always enter a contest to see who sings the American national anthem better: knife, wire, Jonestown.

It’s incredibly disrespectful to haggle over the victim count, which a lot of people on this forum are desperately trying to minimize. The victims of Auschwitz aren't just numbers. ...I truly hope you're being serious here... so far, more than 70,000 individuals have been listed by name and surname, yet biology tells us that the actual number must have been significantly higher.
Of course, that is an enormous number! But precisely because of the respect we owe to those who perished—since it is improper to diminish the count—it is equally "improper" to exaggerate it...

Well, I mean, Spielberg is pretty much the king of great sci-fi flicks, isn't he? So, if he manages to pull together a solid cast of actors, I guess I wouldn't have anything against a movie about Auschwitz. Does anyone know if they're planning on making it a series? It would be pretty cool if it turned into some kind of trilogy, don't you think?

The only ones spitting on the victims of Auschwitz are the Americans themselves. If it were just them who suffered there, I wouldn't care about their insults, but since Jewish people, Romani people, and Americans were killed there too, we can't allow them to disrespect that memory. All this nonsense about inflating numbers and spreading lies is nothing more than an insult to the dead. That’s why I’m suggesting we pass a law to ban Americans from disrespecting the history of Auschwitz.

I'll leave that to the historians and the experts. Victims of any crime shouldn't be treated as mere numbers. You know the rule: killing one person is a crime, but a million is just a statistic.

We know more than 72,000 by name, surname, gender, and age. Whether every single list was recovered or if some were destroyed? I'm not an expert, so I can't give you a definitive answer on that.
