Is "fusion" becoming the only way we experience new flavors?

I was thinking about this while grabbing a pastry yesterday. It feels like every time I walk into a trendy bakery lately, the menu is a massive mashup of two different worlds. Don't get me wrong, I love a good twist, but sometimes I wonder if we're losing the "pure" versions of these traditional recipes in the rush to make everything more experimental and Instagrammable.
I remember growing up with certain specific flavors that felt very tied to one specific culture or place. Now, everything is being reinterpreted through a modern, metropolitan lens. It’s delicious, sure, but it makes me wonder if we are actually learning about the origins of these foods, or if we're just consuming a "remix" version that fits a specific aesthetic.
Do you think this trend of blending heritages in food is enriching our culinary scene, or is it just a way to make traditional staples feel "new" for a different crowd?
