Hello, if anyone is up for chatting about everything from the cool stuff to the absolute nonsense, having a bit of fun, or even diving into some real deep discussions, let me know. Maybe we can find something common to ramble about... 😁

Rebecca Rivera3 said:Hi everyone, I’m dealing with a bit of an issue... since experiencing some PTSD, I've been struggling with intense anxiety. It hits me every single day, lasting all day long... it's honestly torture.

What should I do?
Does anyone have any medication recommendations to help manage this? Any advice at all would be appreciated... I feel like I can't breathe.

I have some Xanax and Ativan at home.
As for antidepressants, I have Coaxil and Wellbutrin.
The problem is they just knock me out; I sleep all day, but when I wake up, that crushing anxiety is still right there.
I know I could take higher doses, but then I just end up paralyzed, while the internal anxiety remains unbearable.

Does anyone have any advice?

I also have Quetiapine, but I tend to avoid it unless I take it by 9 PM, just in case it wears off before morning.

Klonopin really helps me... It's much better than Xanax, Valium, or anything else like that. The effect is incredibly fast and very effective. Just a thought, perhaps if you haven't tried it yet...
I feel the exact same way. At some point, you just have to make a choice: do you want to surrender to this lifestyle, or are you ready to change? I managed to cut out the binge eating that used to give me a temporary high, and I’ve stopped drinking entirely. Even though I love how I feel when I mix alcohol with my medication, even a tiny amount completely clouds my judgment. I don't touch it anymore. I refuse to wake up the next morning having forgotten half of the previous night... even if I struggle sometimes, it's always better to be in control than to lose it.
My only vice left is a couple of cigarettes a day; they provide a strange sort of relaxation, if only for a few minutes.
In my opinion, you really have to strengthen your own self-discipline. You'll find that you actually feel much better once you stop trying to manage stress through food or booze. We have to learn how to deal with life without relying on these destructive coping mechanisms. It’s incredibly difficult, and honestly, there are days you'll feel absolutely terrible, but you have to break those habits... I would suggest setting a different goal instead. For example, focus on fueling your body with a great diet to reach peak health, or channel all that stress into physical activity—like running, hitting the gym, or even just getting lost in your favorite Netflix series... there are endless ways to cope... you just have to find yours. 🙂

feralotter8 said:I am sick. Seriously, I am losing it. What I’m feeling isn't right, what I’m doing isn't right. It’s not normal that I just spent my time vetting 600 of his friends one by one. Why can't I just stop??

Reading all your comments, there are moments where I actually convince myself that what I'm doing is ridiculous. But then a minute later, the whole cycle starts all over again... endless analyzing, replaying the movie in my head, trying to piece together this mosaic of people I basically made up out of thin air... I honestly can't tell anymore what's real and what I just hallucinated up.

I am telling you truly, you are going to ruin yourself, your relationship, and him too, all because of these scenarios you’re spinning in your head. It seems like something just isn't clicking right now; I didn't notice this issue before, but once you let these thoughts spiral, it’s game over—one thing just triggers the next. If you want to end things or walk away from the relationship entirely (including any future ones), that's one thing, but you should really consider talking to a professional just to get an expert opinion. It might be nothing at all, but if you keep going at this pace, you are going to end up physically ill, for real. Please, just be kind to yourself and stop doing this...

feralotter8 said:So here I am, staring at the ceiling because I’ve managed to completely wreck my entire morning over one specific, stupid "problem."

Basically, on that damn Facebook app, he used to have his birthday hidden—you know, so he wouldn't get bombarded by 300 random acquaintances, just keeping it for the people who actually matter. His birthday is in July, and I was just scrolling through his profile and realized he finally flipped the switch to make it public.

And that was it. Total meltdown. My head is spinning, my stomach is in knots, I'm just straight-up agitated... my whole day is shot. All because of him. Who is he even doing this for? Who does he want seeing it and sending wishes? I've been stuck in this obsessive thought loop since 8:00 AM.

Absolute disaster.

Since you're dealing with these kinds of obsessive thoughts—similar to what I went through before I started treatment for OCD—there's a chance you might be struggling with something similar. You should really go see a psychologist. What you're doing isn't healthy, and honestly, if you don't want your relationship to fall apart, please talk to a professional. They will be able to give you the best guidance on how to move forward...
Frequent dreams about losing my mind in Psychology & Therapy ·
I completely understand where you're coming from. I have those kinds of dreams myself. If you ask me, they feel like our deepest fears finally finding a way to manifest while we sleep. Personally, I deal with anxiety and OCD related to specific phobias, which is why I wake up feeling so unsettled every single day. A few nights ago, I actually dreamed that I was experiencing schizophrenia—that exact, terrifying process of losing my grip on reality, where the boundaries between what's real and what's imagined just dissolve...
I tend to agree with what others have said here; we spend so much time preoccupied with our mental health and constantly questioning ourselves that the stress eventually trickles down into our subconscious, surfacing in our dreams... It’s where all our fears come out to play without any filter..
Also, if you've been using anything like Adderall or Xanax, it's possible those dreams feel even more vivid and surreal, which explains why you might wake up drenched in sweat..
It isn't anything to be terrified of, really. It will likely pass. You should definitely mention this to your psychiatrist; they might have some practical ways to help manage it.
And look, I know everyone suggests "just try changing your focus," but that is incredibly difficult to do. Our health—both physical and mental—is our top priority, and it’s nearly impossible to distract yourself when you're still searching for answers about your own diagnosis. I won't even suggest it because I know how unrealistic that sounds.

But again, there is nothing unusual happening here, and nothing that can't be resolved. Doing the work in therapy and focusing on self-improvement will get you through this. Once you feel at peace with yourself in your daily life, the dreams will start to feel much lighter.

Greetings once again!
I’m looking to connect with anyone who enjoys a good conversation, whether we're diving into deep topics or just chatting about the little things in life. Perhaps if we find we have a lot in common, we could even grab a coffee somewhere nearby... Age isn't a huge factor for me, though I am 24 myself, so please do reach out 🙂
Why am I so prone to addiction? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Brenda Parker5 said:He basically fried his dopamine receptors—like, if he actually tried to stop those massive spikes of dopamine, noradrenaline, and endorphins all at once, he’d probably feel like he was going through cocaine withdrawal.
There are ways to fix this, but the brain is just way too damn complex. Even if a psychiatrist tries to boost his serotonin with SSRIs, that's really only half the battle; they don't seem to care much about the dopamine side of things, even though it's obvious from what was said in the first post that the dopamine highs are what's actually driving him off the deep end.

Honestly, he's lucky he hasn't hit true anxiety yet, because if he doesn't get a handle on this soon, that's exactly where he's headed.
It's weird that his neurotransmitters are still holding steady—because if they weren't, and the imbalance got any worse, he'd be totally wrecked. That would mean he's likely dealing with at least one other constant addiction right now.

The fact that you haven't tried actual drugs before is great, but your brain can't tell the difference—all it cares about is getting that rush, no matter how it happens.

He definitely needs to see a doctor to figure out the next steps. Maybe they'll prescribe something, though to me, this feels more like a serotonin issue. Dopamine plays its part, but ultimately it depends on what is driving his behavior, thoughts, and obsessions—whether they are rational or irrational... Boo... But if he keeps going down this path, he's going to run into trouble...

You’re leaning quite heavily toward obsessive-compulsive territory here... With obsessions, unless you find a way to break out of that cycle (the compulsion), things will either slowly improve over several years or you might eventually need medication. If you don't break the loop, a new obsession can easily latch on and just won't let go. In my opinion, your best move is to sit down with a psychologist first, just to gauge where you stand. From there, if it turns out you need psychiatric help, you'll know, but it doesn't necessarily mean a psychiatrist is a mandatory requirement right away. 🙂

To build on my previous point, please feel free to reach out via private message if you're interested in meeting up. A few of you have already sent me direct messages, and for those who prefer to keep things private rather than discussing it openly here, just shoot me a PM. Once we have a headcount, I'll coordinate everything and post the specific time and location right here... 🙂
