Betty Doyle6 said:Thanks 🙂 Is there anywhere in the city, near Times Square or Broadway, where I don't have to trek all the way downtown?

Maybe even a local convenience store?

Yeah. There's a shop on Gay Street right across from Boban's. Can't recall the name—it isn't a CVS, but... something like that.

Basically, I need to find an A-line denim skirt for my mom to wear to work—something knee-length or longer.
She wears a US size 12.

Any idea where I can pick one up by $67 in Chicago? I’m completely lost on where to even start looking.

Thanks 🙂

Maybe check H&M... not sure if they're near $67, but they usually have them.

feralmoose11 said:Hey ladies,
I am currently struggling with finding the right bra size, so if anyone can offer some guidance, I would appreciate it....
I have lost some weight recently, but I am having a nightmare trying to find a bra in any local store. I stopped by Victoria's Secret, and their 34 band—which is my actual size—is far too loose, yet their 32H is way too tight.🙂

I have started hunting on eBay because the high-end designer brands found in specialty boutiques (like Panache, Freya, or Fantasie) are just prohibitively expensive online. However, I see a massive selection of Marks & Spencer bras on eBay. If anyone here has purchased from them, could you tell me how their sizing compares to brands like Victoria's Secret?
Alternatively, if anyone knows of a more budget-friendly brand that carries H or J cups which I could easily grab on eBay, please let me know.

Regarding the broader topic of shopping, I will contribute a bit of my own experience. Over the last few years, I have had to buy almost my entire wardrobe online because nothing in my local shops in Los Angeles actually fit me properly.

Most of my shopping has been through Evans, (evans.co.uk) because they don't seem to charge for shipping—even though it says they do, they have never actually billed me for it—and also via ASOS.

Evans offers realistic sizing and a fantastic selection, though the prices aren't exactly cheap. I signed up for their newsletter specifically because they run sales twice a month, like 15% off tops or 20% off everything, and that is when I strike. They also have a clearance section that is worth digging through.

ASOS is not my favorite because their sizing is incredibly inconsistent; it is nearly impossible to know what to order since their measurements feel completely arbitrary.

I have also shopped at New Look because their Inspire collection for plus-size clothing is quite good and the prices are reasonable, but the shipping fee is roughly $20, which feels like a total waste of money.

As far as physical retail stores go, the only one I can recommend is Monsoon for occasion wear. They carry sizes up to a US 14 or 16, I believe, but they are quite pricey, so I really only shop there for special events.

For jeans, I used to shop exclusively at Dorothy Perkins. While they aren't as easy to find in person anymore, you can still order from them online. Just a word of advice: never pay full price there, as they are constantly running discounts.

If anyone needs advice regarding online shopping, sizing, or anything else, feel free to reach out; I am happy to help where I can.🙂

But if anyone can assist me with this bra situation, I would be incredibly grateful...😍

I use Krisline and Samanta and they're pretty good.
If you're ordering online, maybe grab one size up from what you usually wear.

(like, instead of a 34E, try an 36F).

Maybe the move is to just find a killer photo and hunt down a decent seamstress.. Otherwise, I honestly doubt you'll be totally happy with how everything turns out..
Personally, I’m always all about those dresses with sleeves that cover the upper arms.. even if they're like those flowy bell sleeves or whatever.. I don't know what your vibe is, but I can't stand having my upper arms showing, especially at a big formal event where everyone is staring and snapping photos left and right.. plus, it's just way more comfortable...

off topic:

not me. some things can't be hidden, and trying to mask them just makes that area look even more obvious.
just imagine what I'd say for my wedding dress 😬 🤦

Sam Martin said:bella... thanks, I'll take a look... I was also thinking about checking out some stores at Target... I've managed to find a few decent tops and skirts there before...

kris79... so, something I could actually wear to work every day, maybe, or if we're going out to dinner or attending a wedding...
I don't want to just wear it once for my wedding and then shove it in the back of my closet forever...
Something along these lines, I guess:

God, it’s so frustrating seeing all these photos of gorgeous clothes made for curvy women when you can't even find anything like it in this damn country... 🙂

But how "formal" are we talking? I was immediately thinking of Nordstrom, maybe a boutique in Soho...
they have those slightly more relaxed styles—not for everyone, obviously, but they're classy, feminine, and usually cut well enough to fit most body types.

Sam Martin said:Ugh, I am so frustrated right now... 🙂

I need to find a light, airy summer dress—nothing too long, just anything that isn't black, since I can't exactly show up to a courthouse wedding looking like I'm heading to a funeral... and obviously, I need it by $167 🙄.
I already wasted my time checking out H&M, C&A, and Takko Fashion... but I couldn't find a single thing in my size. Everything is just way too small. I guess maybe there's something at Nordstrom, New Look, or somewhere else entirely?
HELP!!!

What exactly do you mean by "semi-formal" and "flowy"?

Brandon Nelson3 said:You can find Triumph$60 bras starting from size 70 on eBay UK. Obviously, we're talking brand new with tags here—they've got everything from tiny to huge. I managed to snag a Triumph Amourette for about 8 bucks, while back home they were going for 300 or $133, I can't remember the exact number. 😲 Since then, that's my go-to spot! 😍

Anita's bodysuits are way overpriced. If you want quality without the markup, check out Pour Moi on eBay—they're fantastic, and you won't pay more than $60 for a full set. 👍 Also, Panache is great, though their panty sizing runs pretty large, so I'd suggest sizing down. For the bras, though—especially the underwire ones—definitely grab a larger size.

Can you give me a concrete example of the size difference?
If you're rocking a Triumph 75E, you'd probably be looking at a 34D in Panache... just a guess—sizing can be such a headache between brands.

Noah Nelson6 said:Meli... if you need cake recommendations, look no further. We used them for our wedding and they were fantastic—super professional and incredibly kind people. They have two bakery locations in the city, one over in Brooklyn and another in Queens. They aren't cheap, but honestly, the quality justifies the price tag every single time. A kilo runs about $33, but I don't regret spending a single cent because it was worth it.

I've had Meli's treats plenty of times🙂 and they really are delicious.
Never tried their wedding stuff though—can you actually pick out specific pieces for a custom mix, or do they just do a standard assortment?
Also, let me know if they deliver and if there's an extra fee for that...

Anyway, about those amazing bras at Target—there was this one, also in an F cup, and I tried on my size, but they fit me so weirdly... I don't know, maybe it's just me being odd. 😍

Oh, and Adora, I am loving everything I'm seeing on the page! I'm just stuck waiting for their online shop to actually go live, because right now it's totally down...
If any of you ladies are heading their way, could you maybe ask them if they'll be opening the website anytime soon? 😉

Adora's got a Facebook page too—you can hit them up via email or just give them a call...

Patrick Rodriguez7 said:Hey, does anyone actually know the name of that one good boutique in NYC for curvy women? I remember going there with my aunt maybe four or five years ago, but I can't for the life of me remember which neighborhood it was in. 😢
Anyway, if any of you ladies know, please let me know ASAP—it’s kind of urgent because I’m thinking about getting a gift, and I just remember they had such amazing stuff.
Also, quick question—do they carry more serious, high-end pieces, or is everything just geared toward younger girls?

I know a spot over in Trešnjevka—right by the tram line, just past the grocery store and before you hit the plaza on the left...
Serious clothes—you know, the classics...
I’ve got an XXL size stashed somewhere in Vladislav...

Scott Patel53 said:So, I was browsing the B&B section over at H&M and actually found some decent trousers—some linen summer styles and even a pair of lightweight drawstring ones that seem perfect for strolling around in during the warmer months...

But here is the dilemma: I stumbled upon these beige pants that fit me incredibly well. They sit just right and don't highlight any imperfections, but they are... beige.

Can a lady with a healthy appetite truly justify wearing beige?

If the fabric is thick enough so you aren't showing everything—and if the cut actually fits your shape instead of looking like cheap leggings—then yeah, absolutely.

I mean, it’s not "illegal" to wear them if they don't fit right, but it just doesn't look very classy... 😍

I was practically shouting about it from the rooftops at weddings when I first ordered it 😕 so where were you? 😂
Anyway, here’s the one I went with: http://www.morilee.com/bridals/julietta/3112
They’re just going to stitch in some straps made from the same lace as the waist appliqué 😍
The straps are mostly just for show, really—just to hide the bra that actually has to do all the heavy lifting 🙂

🙈 Maybe I wasn't there for the weddings in that moment. Thanks. 🙂Looks pretty good.

Zachary Howard4 said:"I'm a 75D-E. I usually go for the ones with underwire and padding that feels thick but soft, you know? Nothing with those stiff, structured materials. It can be multi-layered, but it really needs to contour to my body, or maybe just that super firm lace."

I feel like I just have to chime in on this one... 😲 Are you actually sure about those measurements, dear? I do most of my shopping at Target, and ever since my band size bumped up to an 85E—it used to be 80E—the staff there always used to give me these looks because I seemed so "small" for such a large cup size... Honestly, I don't think I've ever met anyone who wears a 75 and has a cup that big... My friend has a toddler and she's also an 80 band, so I guess I'm just wondering if it's all about how different brands scale things, or if there are people out there with proportions that make mine look tiny by comparison.😉

🤔 Am I actually sure about anything?
Jason Moore63 explained it to you—it’s all about the back. For example, every shirt I own fits perfectly in the front but is way too loose in the back... if I size up to fix that, the whole shape just falls apart.
Look, the whole reason I’m grabbing the 75E is so I can clip it on the widest setting right out of the gate—that way, when it inevitably stretches out, I actually have some room to tighten it back up. If I go with an 80, I’m stuck using the loosest notch from day one... and once that gives way, the thing is basically trash.

I wear an 85D from Etam and an 80E, and they're basically jumping out—it's wild. I've got some Triumph 80Ds that fit pretty well though... but honestly, it all comes down to the cut, how the cup is shaped, and what kind of fabric they use.

When it comes to H&M, you really have to pick carefully. It’s like the same bra size can fit totally different ways—one day it's huge, the next it's perfect, and then one just barely holds everything in... I've got three of theirs and they all fit differently. One's too big, one's just right, and one is basically screaming for mercy... 🤷

As soon as this snow lets up even a little bit, I’m heading out for some hunting.😂

Just remembered something else—that Anita shop over on Gundulic street has huge sizes, but those bras have soft cups and removable straps (pretty sure they come with clear and white ones in the pack). The thing is, once you take the straps off, if things aren't naturally firm and steady, it just won't hold itself up.

Sam Martin said:Hey ladies!
I scrolled through this thread a few pages back, but I couldn't find the specific info I was looking for. So, I guess I should apologize in advance if this has already been covered...
I need a solid, sturdy bra with detachable straps—something that can handle being worn on its own, but I also need those silicone adhesive ones to wear under a wedding dress.
I’ve been buying the Triumph Minimizer for several years now, and I absolutely love it. As for my size, I usually go with a 36D or a 38C, depending on which specific model I'm looking at, I guess.
I was scrolling through Lisa Rivera's page earlier, looking to see if they had... well, I guess you could say I was checking for certain things. Maybe I was just browsing, I don't know. I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but this feels... I guess you could call it "this kind of thing." It’s hard to put my finger on it. Just one of those things. I haven't even started digging through their actual stores yet, though I suppose I should probably see if there are any other spots out there...
Does anyone happen to know where I can pick up a bridal shapewear piece that actually works? And please, for the love of God, don't suggest those Slim'n'Lift Air things they hawk on TV. I tried one during a fitting, and I guess... maybe if you enjoy being physically unable to use the restroom, they're great. But honestly, having to struggle just to go to the bathroom while wearing a wedding dress sounds like a total nightmare. Any real recommendations? 😂

Try Paris Lingerie over at the shopping center.

They carry Triumph too—really sturdy models, plenty of sizes—but the Triumph ones have three seams, so I'm not sure how they'll look under a wedding dress (worrying about visible lines and all that).

Dana Wilson said:Thanks! 😉 I’ll definitely go take a look at Ann Taylor and H&M..
As for the underwire... man, I don't know, it just feels like it's squeezing me too hard, and I always end up with this weird line cutting into my skin after wearing it (and it's not even because the size is too small).. I honestly think with those larger cup sizes, having wider straps is way more important—like, they actually need to be able to hold things up—rather than relying on a wire. Plus, you really need the right shape and material of the bra to actually support them..
Or am I totally off base here? What size do you usually wear?

aha, so it's chafing underneath... sounds more like a fit issue than the wire itself then. honestly, when it comes to boobs, there's no right or wrong—it's all subjective. everyone's built differently 😉.

I'm a 75D-E. Usually go for underwire but with cups that are thick yet soft—definitely not those stiff, padded things. Needs to be multi-layered but flexible enough to move with my body, or maybe just really firm lace.

I have this amazing minimizer from Triumph that I bought on a recommendation. It looks a lot like a sports bra—not exactly "sexy," but the support for my chest and back is incredible. It basically knocks two cup sizes off. Oh, just remembered—check out sports bras. They're definitely sturdy and comfy since they're designed for movement without any chafing or annoyance.

Dana Wilson said:Honestly, I am such a huge fan of Oltrea too. Like, if they didn't exist, I wouldn't even know where to go for clothes.😁
But anyway, regarding bras... I was looking at ordering some stuff through Liscin’s web shop, but I’m honestly stressing about messing up the size. You know how it is—ordering, returning, waiting again... I just can't deal with that long of a wait. Plus, I mostly wear their stuff anyway because it’s basically the only thing I can actually squeeze into.
Basically, I’ve got about $100 to spend. Does C&A have anything in that range? I see people mentioning them in the recent posts... Any other suggestions on where to look?
I’m even thinking about grabbing those "old lady" styles from Lisca because they look like they’d offer great support, and since retro is kind of back in style now, they don't even look as bad as I used to think they did.🙄 (Or am I just losing it?)

check out Anita over at the mall.

Dana Wilson said:Honestly, I’d go wireless again in a heartbeat... I feel like these underwire ones just squeeze me way too hard...
There are a few like that, though not as many as before, and I haven't even tried buying the larger sizes yet...
I constantly have this feeling that none of them actually hold me tight enough, you know? Like, my back ends up aching more because they need to be, I don't know, a bit firmer? Or maybe it’s just that I need a totally different cut altogether...
Maybe it’s specifically this feminine style 😢

not sure how you're planning to fit an E cup and that band size without any wire at all.
I mean, maybe you can, but what does it actually look like? Wire provides the support and the shape..🤷

HM has large cups, I've mentioned them before. Not sure about the band size though, you'll have to check. Price is div>
