Nah, just so it doesn't seem like I'm just being cranky about stuff—it's actually pretty fascinating how much our little pack's behavior has shifted...
I mean, we've always been cat people, obviously, but now I can't even sit down without someone latching onto me! They'll go way out of their way just to nap next to me—even when I'm curled up on the couch feeling crappy, they'll squeeze into these super awkward, uncomfortable positions just to stay close. They just won't leave me alone!
The dog is being extra clingy too, like seriously... He follows me straight into the bathroom and just hangs out by the tub while I'm showering. Doesn't care at all if the water splashes him or anything, he just keeps nudging me for pets like he's a tiny puppy again.
My crazy little crew. 😍

I knew I was taking a gamble when I hit publish on that post. 😬

Anyway, here’s what’s actually getting under my skin... though I still haven't figured out if I'm having a girl or a boy yet. 🙂

I have an ultrasound scheduled in two weeks, so hopefully I'll finally know then. I'll be 25 weeks and 5 days along.
What surprised me most was how much my chest grew while my weight actually went down, especially considering what I've been eating. It’s also wild how "normal" everything feels. Aside from a brief moment at the start, I haven't dealt with any nausea, weird stomach issues, crazy cravings, or being repulsed by certain smells or foods. No aches, no constant exhaustion, and I'm not nearly as moody or hormonally unstable (well, not more than usual, right 😬). I don't have to run to the bathroom every five minutes, and I can move around just fine... if you ignore the belly (and the 😁) and that occasional little flutter 😍, I’d probably forget I was even pregnant. 🤷

Honestly, anything from how their morning went to the fact that they definitely have their favorites among the users (just like everyone else does). It shouldn't work this way.

You've been around here long enough to realize that's just how it works on every single thread. Some people have more leeway than others. Total first-world problem. 🙂

It’s basically just a gendered corner of the internet. The women have their own space, the men have theirs, and everyone stays in their lane.

Do you really have nothing better to do with your life than get worked up over some petty bickering? 🍿

Nicole Taylor81 said:And maybe Dana Fox5 counts as "one of them" because let’s be honest—nobody is going to call you back after a shady pitch where they won't even tell you what they're actually selling. But hey, that’s sales. You have to play dirty to close a deal. It’s probably just standard training for them.

I didn't get a phone call.

I can see why you’d react that way if someone called you and gave you some vague, nonsensical pitch. For me, the info I received was pretty straightforward, so I had no problem showing up to hear what they had to say in person.

At the end of the day, almost everything in life is a sales pitch; it just depends on how it's packaged when it hits your doorstep. 🙂

Richard Sanders7 said:Alright, let's look at it this way. All the threads are public, so you can clearly see exactly who kicks off every single argument.

I'm with you there. The real issue is that nobody actually bothers to read.

It just so happens to always be the same individual. Besides, we have plenty of eyewitnesses. ☕

So, I guess we're just supposed to take your word for it, much like we take goldenranger30's claim that "the maximum range of an insult is—you idiot"? 🙂

It isn't always the same person, and honestly, that's just not possible. There isn't a soul in this chat who hasn't sparked some kind of drama at some point, but there's a massive difference in how people express themselves and the sheer volume of insults being thrown around.

Do you want us to dig up your own posts where you started fights just to prove that the "it's always the same person" theory is wrong?

Richard Sanders7 said:Lovecat, you’re just spreading lies and feeding the Trolls. goldenranger30 is actually a decent guy; he only snaps when people start throwing insults at him first. Besides, if you look at the actual thread, it’s pretty obvious who always starts the drama. Here is the link to the post where the last blowout started.

What you’re bringing up is just the most recent argument. We had at least five other threads before this one, not to mention the endless bickering that happened before that.

So, it’s not really about who always kicks things off; it’s more about looking at a tiny snapshot of a much larger history of toxic arguments and back-and-forth nonsense.

But honestly, regardless of who starts it, this kind of communication needs to be penalized. More importantly, those posts should be deleted. Leaving them up sends a message to every new person visiting the chat that this behavior is perfectly acceptable, which just makes an already bad situation even worse.

It’s similar to what happened with the Ambassador.

goldenranger30 said:If I’m ever pushed to my absolute limit and someone really manages to get under my skin, my go-to insult is calling them an "idiot." It’s simple, blunt, and honestly, that's about as far as I'll go when I'm feeling provoked.

Are you serious?

From what I’ve gathered, your initial posts on the chat—and honestly, most of your follow-ups there too—always seemed to be written while you were clearly worked up. They basically boiled down to this:

This is absolute garbage. There's an endless amount of this stuff floating around here, yet it’s never actually sanctioned. People have been posting exactly like this on various threads for ages, but none of them ever got hit with this kind of treatment. Now, suddenly, I can't even use the chat. Typical.

You really think I’d allow something like that to slide, given my role as a moderator?

Go ahead and pull out every single provocation and insult that supposedly led to me being "offended."

At the end of the day, this is just a job. It’s a task that requires professionalism and a certain level of objectivity. You don't necessarily need to inject any personal flair into the mode itself.

Your professionalism and commitment to taking a moderator role are clearly on full display, based on this post from the other chat:

goldenranger30 said:Honestly, after seeing what you and Henry Hayes3 just posted, I was practically screaming. 🤣

Give me a break—you’re asking me to get hyped up when I don't even own a computer. 🤣🤣

I bet if those girls were around, they’d have the cats settled in at Nick's place within three minutes flat. 😂

I’d never ban someone just for the hell of it. But honestly, if one of them actually catches something worth flagging? I’ll be the first one to hit that button. 🤣

As usual, the Trolls are out here intentionally derailing this thread with nothing but lies. I’m honestly asking the mods or the admins to step in and finally deal with this properly.

Zachary Nguyen2 said:I’m against you being there; the only thing you'd be useful for is taking out the trash.

Well, thanks for showing everyone exactly how you communicate.

goldenranger30 said:You can try to pin things on me or discredit me all you want, just like before.
It's just you and Nick the College Student.

No matter how many times you guys insulted me—which was useless, really, using those group provocations to bring out the worst in me—I would have still acted with integrity toward you.

Can you say the same for yourself?

If I ever got into an argument because of this, it was a fight for what's right.

Everyone knows it, even if few have the guts to say it.

goldenranger30, I don't think this is the place for you and me to debate who insulted whom and how many times. If I really wanted to, I could pull up a massive pile of your posts where you use incredibly vulgar language and insults sufficient for three permanent bans. I just doubt that matters much right now. Besides, you spent days wearing a signature that called me Satan just to provoke and insult me. Every time I ignored you, you took it as avoiding a confrontation and used it as an excuse to provoke even harder. You even followed me into other threads on different forums just to insult me. And now you're claiming to be the victim?

Action should have been taken on the complaints regarding you, Zachary Nguyen2, and people like that a long time ago.

I’m firmly against the idea of goldenranger30 becoming a moderator, but honestly, I have some serious issues with that user all sorts of things on the forum too. Since we’re all sharing our suggestions here...

rustydrifter10 said:Nobody is going to read all those posts if you just spam them like that. Usually, off-topic chat threads are only interesting to the people actually participating in them—and sometimes they aren't even interested in the main topic. That’s why most chat threads end up being moderated via user reports; it creates a ton of headaches, which leads to threads getting locked because the group talking can't seem to keep themselves in check. Just show some restraint.

You have to realize that chat threads are essentially a "gift." They aren't a necessity for this site; they exist solely because the moderators are being generous, especially since they usually have nothing to do with the main subject matter. Plus, they often turn into little hangouts for a specific group and can be pretty boring to everyone else. Most chat threads don't hold much long-term value anyway. On boards where users don't exploit lax moderation (and let's face it, moderation is light everywhere) to harass each other, chat threads can thrive for years without any issues.

If, as Nathan Turner3 pointed out, you were just dragging a debate from one locked thread over to another, that’s a perfectly valid reason to temporarily lock that one too. Sometimes things can be handled through moderation without a full lockout, but sometimes it's obvious the group just needs a breather.

On another note: we know we're short on moderators, and we're working on it. In the meantime, please don't make our jobs harder. 🙂

rustydrifter10, I get everything you're saying and, honestly, I agree. Chat threads are a gesture of goodwill, they're loosely moderated, and ultimately, they aren't vital to the site.

However, once a thread has been allowed to progress to a certain point (with rougher language, rule-breaking, etc.), it feels pretty unclear and unfair from a user's perspective when it suddenly gets shut down and people get sanctioned after the fact.

Sure, it's tough to find someone to constantly monitor chats and police inappropriate posts, but what are the users supposed to do? If you want to have a normal conversation but can't because of a few obnoxious people whose insults have been reported multiple times without any action, sometimes the only thing left to do is give them a taste of their own medicine.

If anyone from a controversial chat starts posting in a different thread, the others will follow almost immediately. Then everyone ends up getting chased off and unfairly judged because it’s nearly impossible to pinpoint exactly who is actually causing the trouble.

I actually dealt with a pretty unpleasant situation recently where Jackal followed me through other threads on the site, leaving offensive off-topic comments.

That's why it would be incredibly helpful if someone could find a bit of time and willingness to actually handle the reports regarding indecent posts and deal with the users who consistently write them.

Only then will we stop seeing these messy debates bleeding into other topics, and we can finally have some peace on the all sorts of things board. 🙂

By the way, what’s the deal with the other moderator over on the all sorts of things forum?
PDF: A little bit of everything in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Nathan Turner3, thanks for the quick and clear response. 🙂

I guess I should add...

Nathan Turner3 said:The reality is that Terry Collins9 just can't keep up with reading through this thread while trying to moderate it. You guys are posting way too much. It’s clearly emboldening some of you to act out and post things here that you wouldn't dream of saying anywhere else.

Look, even if Terry Collins9 doesn't have the time to read every single thread, we all know he's keeping tabs on what’s going on. And honestly, we all know he knows. It’s just how he operates.

I just got hit with a massive wave of reports for harassment.
I was actually there myself when the insults started flying around in the chat.

The thing is, he’s basically admitted he refuses to take a red card, which pretty much sums it up. That’s exactly why we’ve ended up here—after a ridiculous amount of back-and-forth, endless deadlocks, and several failed attempts to get this sorted, we’re left with this thread titled... Enter at your own risk. Let's just keep the insults coming.

Evidence:

We need to find someone else to join the moderation team, but honestly, finding the right fit on Reddit isn't exactly easy. It’s not like we’re looking for an expert in one specific niche where you can just scout for high-quality contributors. Instead, it's a mix of all sorts of things, which makes finding that perfect balance of knowledge pretty tough.

I agree that we really need to find a moderator who will actually step up and handle things properly. Moderating. There are plenty of topics floating around, but I don't see any reason why I’d need to chime in on everything. If those are the rules you guys live by, fine—it doesn't make much sense for me to go sticking my nose into every single thread.

I just want to say that locking this thread over "offense" feels pretty wrong. Everyone here was clearly told from the jump that insults wouldn't be sanctioned and that nobody actually cares about them. If certain people find it hard to stomach, they’re more than welcome to just stop visiting the thread.

I’ve locked the Temu thread because the insults over there have become constant. I'm planning to spend tonight or tomorrow scrolling through the last 20 pages to ban some users—maybe even issue some partial suspensions if needed. Once that's cleaned up, we can try starting a fresh thread and see if that actually fixes the underlying issues.

I think you're making a massive mistake here. It would be incredibly unfair to hand out warnings or bans based solely on the last twenty pages of this thread. Between the fact that we were told earlier that insults wouldn't be sanctioned, and the long history of toxicity and poor communication from certain users—people who might have been more prominent in the past than they are right now—it just doesn't sit right. Penalizing people based on such a narrow window of time feels completely one-sided.

It’s worth noting that you could probably churn out fifty pages of text on this chat in a single evening if you really got going.

If they had just pulled the trigger on those sanctions right away, we wouldn't be in this mess. Now? It would feel completely unfair to even try.

Regarding those other locked threads, they’re a big deal because you guys basically just took the exact same argument from a closed topic and dragged it right over to a new one.

Why isn't this being handled like it is on other forums, where people actually get handed a warning card?

Henry Hayes3 said:There’s really no point in starting a whole new thread when the answer was already posted earlier.

Phil, you don't need to keep forcing your way into conversations where nobody actually asked for your input.

The reason this thread exists is because I'm looking for a response from the mods and admins, not from you or Jackal. If I ever decide I need your take on things, I'll be sure to reach out.

And just to be clear, this isn't just about the one thread regarding the Institution.

Look, I appreciate the input, but it's not what I'm looking for here. Best.

I am still waiting for the forum staff to address my questions before I bother engaging in any further debate with them.

Terry Collins9 said:Hey mod, lock the thread since you guys basically started this mess yourselves.

Comments are closed because you guys triggered this whole thing.

The institution is just a common thread; it’s not mandatory and probably won't be reopened anytime soon.

I feel like we might have had a bit of a misunderstanding, so I'll try rephrasing my question one more time.

Basically, I want to know why topics in the PDF are being shut down in sequence rather than actually being moderated (like banning specific posts or removing problematic users)?

And if anyone actually knows, why was the institution locked?
PDF: A little bit of everything in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Hi there,

I was just looking through the archives and I'm curious why certain threads have been locked off in this PDF—especially the ones that actually matter, like:

The "Hey Moderator" thread, which hasn't been touched since April 9th,

Comments on current members' profile pictures and

The local institution

...instead of being actively moderated (you know, flagging posts or removing the troublemakers)? Also, any word on when we might see a moderator actually stepping up to handle this kind of work?

Is there any indication of whether these threads will be reopened for discussion within a reasonable timeframe?

Looking forward to a quick and straightforward response. Best,

Dana Fox5.

Yeah, they probably just grab onto one specific detail that sounds super important to grab your attention. It’s a classic way to get a foot in the door so they can pitch all the stuff they didn't mention upfront. They definitely have a better shot at closing a deal that way than if they just walked up and said, "Hey, we sell insurance policies, mind signing one?" 😬 And there is absolutely no way this will be a quick ten-minute chat. It wouldn't make any sense for them to drive out just for that. 😁

That’s basically their whole business model—offer some "free information" and then play the consultant, hoping that by showing you those details, they can manufacture a need for their services.

But honestly, it isn't necessarily a bad thing. The advice itself—or the info you pick up along the way—can actually be pretty useful, and it might even save you some money.

Elizabeth Cox83 said:Someone’s actually trying to convince me that I need to start investing money—probably talking about some 401(k) or one of those third-party retirement accounts. As if.

Oh, sure, because that’s exactly what they focus on—investments and life insurance. Brilliant deduction. 👍

Personally, I find it incredibly grating when people show up acting like they’ve just made some grand, heroic "statement." Changes. Ever since we joined the EU back in 2013... and as if they actually care about walking us through all these changes. Honestly, when she tried to explain the whole thing to me, it was pure gibberish. But then again, maybe that’s exactly the point—keep people confused enough so they feel like they’ve missed something vital, making them think they were legally obligated to act when they really weren't.

Look, if you aren't interested in their advice or don't have any use for their services to begin with, then just stay home. It’s that simple.

Look, I’m just telling you what my own experience was like.

So, what kind of savings plan did she actually pitch you, pobs?

Yeah, they work on commission, so obviously she’s incentivized to have you divert as much of your paycheck as possible into savings. But honestly, it would be pretty unprofessional if she didn't at least lay out a few different options for you to consider.
