While you're hanging out, you should really check out this thread. It’s got tons of great breakdowns on all those technical settings and some helpful tips on how we all do things around here on the forums. Just a heads up, you can always tweak your own posts using the edit button.
Just hang tight for a bit! You dropped this thread right in the middle of the night, and honestly, it’s still pretty early. The moderators aren't hovering over the site 24/7, and they don't even check in every single day. They'll get back to you whenever they hop online.
redbear2 said:Wouldn't it actually be a good thing for you to have a thread like this where people can just lay out their critiques? I get it—being criticized sucks, but honestly, it’s useful. If you actually care about making Reddit better, these kinds of discussions are essential. At the end of the day, user feedback is the most important thing you've got. Don't take this as some kind of personal vendetta; just set the ego aside for a second, listen to the feedback, and really think about what's being said.
The second people started sharing their thoughts, you shut the whole thread down. My own comment was perfectly reasonable. Because of your screw-up, my Ban lasted several hours longer than it should have. It’s not even about those extra few hours; it’s the principle of the thing.
Just let people vent, then take a look at what they're saying and actually process it. I'm pretty sure certain issues would come up constantly, and it's not always going to be the fault of the regular users.
Look, we already have a massive document dedicated to feedback—it’s called the User Guidelines. You’re basically following it right now as you write. It has its own set of rules laid out in the stickied megathread at the top of the forum. Part of those rules covers exactly how to frame a critique, and honestly, that’s not how this was done. We aren't looking for a thread that serves as nothing more than a dumping ground for baseless attacks on the admin team without any proof, or a place where people dig up old grievances that were settled ages ago. We don't want a space where the volunteers who spend their free time keeping this corner of the internet running have to slog through totally unfounded accusations that lack even a shred of evidence.
northernpilot2 said:There isn't really a set deadline for when the username change actually happens. It could be done in five minutes, or honestly, it might take five whole weeks. I guess it all just comes down to how slammed the admin is with other stuff. 🙂
And it’s not just about the workload, either—it also depends on the server status and a few other technical quirks behind the scenes.
You can actually still get a hold of L3go even if the thread has been locked down. It doesn't matter if they've deleted posts, handed out warnings, or issued bans—they’ll still find a way to reach out.
Look, at the end of the day, we aren't going to host any PDFs that are just meant to be offensive, and we certainly aren't going to turn a blind eye to insults being thrown around all over this forum. Sure, there might be other corners of the internet out there that thrive on toxicity, but that’s just not our mission—we want to foster high-quality, constructive conversations here. If the moderators feel like a specific thread can handle a little bit of lighthearted banter or some blunt "you're being an idiot" type of stuff, then that needs to be clearly stated. Those kinds of situations should be the exception, not the rule, and it's entirely up to the admin team to decide where the line is drawn and how far we let things go. By the way, we already have certain sub-sections where we don't sweat those kinds of jabs quite so hard, but that's really mostly for the regulars who know each other well and are active contributors—it's definitely not an open invitation for random trolls to swoop in just to cause trouble.
Maria Johnson said:rustydrifter10, why on earth do moderators who aren't even involved in this and don't understand the situation feel entitled to meddle? If phiber is supposed to be some kind of big authority here, please just let us know.
Honestly, anyone who uses Amtrak and actually has a real opinion on the matter should be able to chime in. This PDF includes moderators, so it’s really not up to you to decide who gets a seat at the table and who doesn't.
I've had a chance to look over all the submissions, so thanks for those. I’m keeping a close eye on the threads and I'll definitely jump in whenever I feel there's something worth weighing in on, just like I always do. They aren't exactly perfect for the CIA, but honestly, there's no huge rush to take action on them right this second.
Adam Collins4 said:Look, before I even started this thread, those things just didn't exist... ...
Man, you reported it, the mods handled it, and that’s the end of it.

The posts being linked were all written today, with some coming in just minutes before this one. You can't really go after the moderators for not jumping on something within such a tiny window of time. As for those older threads, the moderator already gave you an answer, so there's no need to keep dragging the conversation back to them. You filed the report, it was moderated—case closed. Moving forward, if you want to bring something up here, please try to be polite and constructive, and only do so if there hasn't been a response to your report via the little triangle icon after at least 24 hours have passed.
Sandra Brown18 said:Linda, I don't have any issues with the way things are being phrased, but those "Yes" buttons on the registration forms? That's where the trouble starts.
I think we can probably get this sorted out. Just shoot me a private message with a quick breakdown of what's going wrong, and we'll figure it out.

Look, if you’re actually going to call out someone for bad moderation, you’ve got to come at it with receipts. Don't just throw accusations around based on their political leanings or what side of the aisle they sit on—that doesn't hold any water. If you want to make a real case and prove they aren't doing their job properly, bring the actual evidence to the table. Show us the specific instances where things went wrong. Otherwise, it just looks like noise.
Can we please just stop all this bickering? Seriously, let’s move past the constant accusations about people being "clones of banned users"—it’s just unnecessary ad hominem attacks at this point. If anyone actually has legitimate doubts or real evidence to share, just send over a private message with the details instead of making it a spectacle.
I honestly feel like we’ve already asked people to stop starting entire threads over nothing. Moving forward, you might actually start seeing some warnings issued. We aren't sitting in a stuffy classroom where we have to follow some rigid textbook to the letter—it's not that deep! Using "zero" is perfectly normal in everyday American English, and whether the grading scale goes from 0-5, 1-10, or whatever else is entirely up to the mods to decide.
Yeah, you definitely got hit with a partial ban on the Soccer PDF, and you should have received an automated notification about it by now. I’m going to go ahead and ping the moderators so they can weigh in on this.
