Why was my thread deleted? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Honestly, this whole thing feels completely pointless and just doesn't have anything to do with what we're actually talking about here. Please, I’m asking you, can we just stop opening threads like this?
A little bit about provocation in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Elizabeth Davis, Bliss will jump in to give you her two cents once she's back online, so I’m going to lock this thread for now because things were starting to get a little too heated.

slycrane94, I can't even issue you a formal warning at this point—you might as well just go ahead and write your own citation somewhere.

rustywalker42 said:Secondly, I wasn't actually commenting on your warning; I was just quoting you.

Actually, quoting while adding your own commentary is against the rules here, and it'll get you flagged for a violation.

If you see other posts that you think are breaking the rules too, just hit that little report icon.

And one last thing, which is just as important: we have a dedicated mega-thread for appealing warnings, so please use that next time instead.
What is wrong with you people?? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Bradley White73 said:No need for thanks, really. Just, uh, please don't delete this last post of mine. That would be plenty.

That post really doesn't belong in this thread.

As far as this topic goes, we aren't going to start opening new threads just to talk about discussions that have already been locked. We've actually had several users banned just for calling out Rambo Antilles, and look, the sanctions are getting tougher depending on how often someone breaks the rules or how bad the violation is—and that’s exactly how it's going to stay.

To the OP: you might want to be a bit more careful with how you title your threads, because this one isn't exactly appropriate.

Looking at those posts linked above, it seems like all the recent ones have been wiped or carded; we don't go back and retroactively wipe older stuff anyway, and some of those guys ended up banned specifically because of this behavior.
ZK strikes again! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Megan Torres said:I get carded the second I address someone directly with an insult, yet JPK doesn't get a single warning even though he was loud and clear when he called me stupid.

Look, JPK didn't actually launch a direct insult. His posts might not have been pretty—honestly, they were skating right on the edge of what's allowed under loose moderation—but they weren't outright verbal attacks. I’d suggest to the moderators that if they're planning on tightening the rules for this specific thread following those recent comments, they should start carding posts like that.

Megan Torres said:Eugene's sarcasm didn't get him carded.

There really isn't anything in Eugene's post that warrants a warning. Honestly, I don't think there's any need to demand that every single thing phrased impolitely gets someone carded, regardless of which side of the debate they're on. Eugene has already been carded plenty of times for his own posts when he went too far.

brightcrane56 said:Of course you didn't, you insulted the believers directly.

She didn't insult anyone; please, just read the post with a bit of understanding. And stop trying to twist things and provoke people, I know you're better than that.

I've read through this entire thread, and honestly, I don't see any issue with how it's being moderated, nor do I see any reason why we even need this specific topic. Seriously.

Linda King said:Deleting a post and handing out a 35-point penalty clearly didn't do the trick. It seems like they just swallow the penalty, factor it into their math, and then go right back to being provocative anyway.

Look, people constantly try to game the system when it comes to penalties, which is why they don't just escalate instantly into an outright ban. The moderators have a specific framework for handling trolling, insults, and other rule-breaking; if you're a repeat offender, the sanctions usually get tougher, and that’s exactly what happened here. From what I can see, the mods are actually doing their jobs. People who break the rules will keep breaking them, and the administration will keep trying to step in and penalize them. This isn't some unique situation that requires us to invent a whole new way of punishing folks.

West Indies, I really hope you don't decide to walk away from the forum—please reconsider. I honestly don't know why people think you're Rambo or why they call you that, but those kinds of posts won't fly here. All we need to do is report them so they get penalized and taken down.

From what I’ve gathered, posts get flagged for moderation pretty regularly, and if someone keeps racking up those violations, they start getting hit with even heavier penalties. Direct bans—you know, once someone hits that 100+ point threshold—don't seem to happen automatically, at least not as far as I can tell right now.

I just finished typing this up a second ago. Go ahead and report it if you need to, so the mods can take a look and weigh in on things.

Beyond just explaining why we had to lock this thread, I have to say that the way you're handling this conversation just isn't okay.

Linda Price5 said:I don't see why we can't just move some of these posts over to the new thread?

Honestly, there isn't much worth salvaging here. Most of the deleted stuff was just straight-up spam, and the few legitimate posts that actually survived are pretty much all specific to the original thread they were posted in anyway.

Thomas Martinez9 said:I’m honestly just doing this because I’m bored and looking for some fun.

Look, the PJK isn't meant to be a playground for killing time or just chatting out of boredom—we’ve got plenty of other sections on the forum for that kind of thing.

darkmarlin16, do us all a favor and actually read through the rules before you start a new thread, then please make sure you're sticking to them.

Forum Etiquette: The Unwritten Rules in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Threads get locked whenever the moderators feel like there isn't much more to be gained from keeping them active. Honestly, when that happens, it all boils down to a few different factors. When we decide to shut down a topic here, it basically means the conversation has run its course—you can't just spin up a brand-new thread to keep dancing around the same old points, one way or another. There isn't some rigid, set timer running in the background either.

mistymason1 said:Look, just take a second to actually read my request again, and then look at Alexin's response. It’s just pure sarcasm and condescension—totally patronizing, arrogant, and honestly, blatant hate speech wrapped up in a nice little package of political correctness.

I’m not even sure she was acting as a moderator when I got that partial ban from the subreddit over a year ago. I don't think she was. So, how does she even get a say in this?

Actually, Sarah Sanders34 gave a perfectly reasonable answer. All the current mods have a hand in deciding whether to lift a partial ban or not. Just because she wasn't on the mod team when you were originally flagged doesn't mean she isn't fully aware of the reasons behind it. Honestly, the fact that you aren't even sure why it happened says more about the situation than anything else.

Nicholas Williams7 said:Then it really must have been something absolutely revolting

Yeah, it definitely was. Look, we just don't want that kind of content cluttering up this forum, and honestly, there's no need to broadcast the specific reasons why someone gets banned or why their posts get scrubbed—that's enough for the user involved and the admin team to handle privately.
