Rachel Gray24 said:Hey everyone, I really need some help here!
So, a few days ago I picked up this Dell True Color monitor, and getting it to actually turn on is driving me absolutely insane. First, the blue light starts blinking slowly, then it speeds up until it just stays solid without flickering, and only after about 30 minutes does the screen finally kick in. The screen stays pitch black the whole time, even though I can hear macOS booting up in the background. My old monitor used to pop on instantly as soon as I powered up my PC, so I’m thinking maybe I’ve somehow messed up a setting somewhere.
If anyone has any clue how to fix this, please let me know! 🙏
Honestly, it’s probably not a settings thing. It shouldn't be acting like that at all. You should really take it back to the service center because that isn't how a monitor is supposed to work. Since you said your old one worked fine, that's a huge sign that the monitor itself is faulty, not your computer or the graphics drivers.
Just get it in for repair. And hey, if it's brand new—like, if you bought it less than a week ago—you actually have the legal right to ask for a replacement. Just hope you kept the receipt so you can swap it out right there at the store.
Taylor Miller54 said:Hi there! I could really use a little guidance here, as I’m admittedly pretty hopeless when it comes to all this tech stuff. My daughter is absolutely obsessed with drawing, and she’s been dreaming of getting her hands on a Wacom Intuos Pro. However, while I was busy setting everything up to order it online, the item completely vanished from the store. We ended up scrambling and finally settled on a Wacom Intuos instead. So, I'm wondering—could someone explain the actual difference between these two devices? Just speaking purely from a layman's perspective, I assume there might be some kind of difference in the graphic quality or something along those lines? Please help me out if you can; I really don't want to spend money on a device that's just going to make her struggle while she's trying to be creative. Thanks so much in advance!
It would be super helpful if you could drop links to where you're shopping and link both items if they are different. But hey, keep in mind that since the first one has "PRO" in the name, that usually means it's a step up from the other one—just speaking generally, since I haven't seen which specific second one you found and I'd need to compare them properly. That PRO model might be better because it could be larger, or maybe the pen has a better battery life or something. But still, I think we need to look closer at the specs. Even though I'm not an expert, drawing tablets are basically pretty similar; if she really enjoys drawing, a bigger one is probably the way to go just because it feels more comfortable to use.
Honestly, you could probably just have an electrician handle this. It’s not even rocket science—you just need to know how to wire things up correctly without blowing a fuse. If you know someone nearby who does electrical work, maybe just ask if they can tackle the phone line while they're at it. It’s really nothing too crazy. You’ll likely end up having to drill through a wall, grab some new wiring, and pick up a wall jack so everything plugs directly into the outlet.
Is it actually worth picking up a gold bar? I’ve been thinking about moving some cash out of my bank account since they're just going to bleed me dry with those savings taxes. I was weighing up whether I should go with a CD or just buy a little gold bar and tuck it away at home. I'm a total newbie at this stuff, though, so I wanted to see what the vibe is right now? What's the current situation looking like?
If you haven't found a direct fix yet, there’s definitely a workaround.
I mean, you’ve got a Google account, right? You basically have to if you're using Android anyway. And since you've got that Google Drive storage space... if you're hooked up to Wi-Fi, it shouldn't be a huge deal. You can just select all your photos—or even put them in a specific folder—and set them to upload to the cloud. It takes a little longer than just plugging in a USB cable, I guess, but it works just fine. Later on, when you're back at your computer, you can just pull everything down. Just head over to drive.google.com, make sure you're logged in with the same account you use on your phone, and you can view or download any of the photos or videos you uploaded. 🙂
One little tip though... maybe upload the photos separately from the videos? Videos tend to be massive files, so it might be easier that way.
Nero is definitely more on the commercial side of things, but honestly, you can just use CdburnerXp for free. In my experience, it gets the job done perfectly fine, even though I haven't actually burned anything in months. It’s possible your burner might be acting up, too. I remember back in middle school, I had an old CD-ROM drive and eventually upgraded to a burner, but the songs I made kept skipping. I didn't realize until later that the actual CD-ROM drive was the culprit—it wasn't reading properly, so it ended up burning everything onto the disc incorrectly. Once I swapped it out for a newer, better DVD drive, all the tracks I burned came out sounding great. Back then, we used to burn things by reading from one disc and writing to another at the exact same time. I think back in those days, operating systems weren't really capable of creating a temporary image of the media to burn to a second disc later on.
"You do all this at your own risk." So yeah, there's a real chance you could just totally wreck your phone. I'm also not even sure if automotive paint is the right call here—that stuff is meant to be applied in super thin layers, and car paint feels way too thick; I feel like it might just start flaking off after a while. A friend of mine tried something similar on her old phone, but that was an older model made entirely of plastic, and she just used nail polish. Honestly, it looks okay... well, it doesn't look "real," but maybe it actually looks better than it did before.
Just a heads up, if you're looking at a brand new laptop, those latest processors pretty much only play nice with Windows 8 or Windows 10. But, if you happen to be working with an older machine... man, stay far away from Vista. Seriously. You're much better off sticking with Windows 7—it feels way more polished and stable than Vista ever did, especially on older hardware.
I think I saw this in a movie or maybe a show—Breaking Bad, I believe? That’s how they do it in America, right? They just wrap the whole house in plastic sheeting, pump gas inside, and let it sit there for a week. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind doing that during the summer. You could just pitch a tent out in the backyard and hang out there for the week. It seems easy enough. Still, it makes me wonder... why don't we ever see people doing stuff like that here???
Just hold down that power button for more than three seconds and the whole thing should shut off completely. And regarding the mouse... I'm guessing you actually meant the touchpad or something along those lines?
Try clicking that button right above the Caps Lock key; maybe it'll switch you over to the screen where you can type in your password.
I was thinking, maybe you guys could add an auto-delete feature for old posts? Like, just having it wipe out sent messages after a certain amount of time, or maybe even prioritize deleting outgoing stuff first. Just a thought...
Ran a scan and it didn't pick up any errors, so I'm starting to think the issue isn't actually with my computer. First one there is the network I set up on my phone, which connected just fine. The second one is the DSL connection that I can't seem to get onto now.
It’s technically working, but my WiFi is basically useless because the broadband connection is totally dead 😁 The WiFi is Excluded. Look, I can connect to the network just fine using the password I set on my phone, but nothing actually loads... like, zero internet access. And it's doing the exact same thing when I try to tether via USB.
So, my ADSL is totally down right now... looks like some kind of issue with Comcast. I'm trying to get some internet working by using my phone instead. I've got an iPhone, which already has a built-in tethering app. I set up a Wi-Fi hotspot and connected my PC to it, but nothing is loading. It just says "No Internet," even though it shows I'm actually connected to the Wi-Fi.
I also tried USB tethering—turned off the Wi-Fi and switched over to the cable. My computer recognizes the connection and even shows that little icon at the bottom like it's plugged into a LAN cable, but it still says there's no internet access.
I'm guessing the problem is somewhere in the phone itself... what can I do? I even tried downloading a different tethering app, but it's the exact same result.
@Larry Ortiz5/">@@Larry Ortiz5 I’d just grab it straight from the Microsoft site. Honestly, I just made a bootable USB stick right away. When I went to download Windows 8.1, it gave me the option to pick my language, then asked what media I wanted—I picked the USB drive, plugged it in, and it started mounting and downloading immediately.
To me, getting it directly from their official page feels way safer than grabbing some random torrent. You never know if someone tucked a virus or some other junk into those files. It didn't even ask me about a license key, either. My PC already has an original one, but the installer didn't even prompt me during the download process.
So, let's say my job gets pretty intense sometimes, and honestly, that makes it way harder for me to stay focused. It’s even tougher when there’s constant bickering going on at home, too... that really drags me down and just kills my mood. As for how I deal with the stress? Well, I try my best to just get away from the people fighting. I'll try to think about positive stuff, or just zone out with a movie or some sitcoms—usually something funny that can actually lift my spirits a bit.
Or I'll treat myself to something delicious. I have a huge sweet tooth—chocolate, cake, you name it. Eating stuff like that makes me feel better. I try to take my time with it so I can really savor it. Though, I gotta admit, I probably overdo it since I’ve been wanting to lose some weight and get back in shape. But honestly? I just don't have the motivation to hit the gym right now.
The things I'm doing to cope with the stress don't seem to be enough, though. I still feel the pressure.
I was wondering if there's maybe an over-the-counter supplement or something I could pick up without needing a prescription from a doctor.
What do you guys think works best or is most effective?
