Zachary Anderson20 said:Oh, please, stop playing dumb. Reporting a construction site is straight out of Section 131 of the Building Code—you have a maximum of 8 days. As for everything else, all the documents are chronologically filed at the CIA, so just go read https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...00064762896267. We’re still waiting on confirmation from the Department regarding the legal deadline for transferring investors and their failure to comply. And yeah, let’s be real: Ivica Puljak and the Cabal could have done way more to protect the public interest instead of catering to those high-society Austrian conservatives. They could have set up a tree registry or protected the trunk; there’s even a green database since the City owns that plot right next to the late Pelegrinka's place.

so who exactly was supposed to handle that tree registry
who's actually in charge of that job in the administration

ironstag8 said:I’m asking again, though—how did they find out? Is an investor legally obligated to follow a request from the city?

They don't *have* to listen—but if Bojan wanted to make things happen, he could've just done it.
The whole circus wouldn't be happening right now if this guy had actually accomplished anything.
All that legal talk is just total BS.
I'm not even gonna bother explaining further—it is what it is.

ironstag8 said:"The City Administration knew exactly what was coming, yet they failed to step in when it actually mattered. They didn't anticipate the situation, nor did they make it a condition for the developers to preserve the peregrine falcon habitat before issuing the new zoning permits—which would have been the perfect way to protect it."

How can we be certain they saw this coming?
And does the City's request to leave the tree alone actually carry any legal weight that forces the developer to comply?

man Bojan is great but he's totally out of line here
he can go talk to the developers or call the press for all I care
he thinks he knows everything—we'll see how long that lasts
no way in hell these guys are cutting down that tree

ironstag8 said:Are you suggesting that this work is being carried out in total violation of the law?
I mean, what exactly did Ed Lee or Bob do wrong here?
Which specific clause, which article, which statute—or even just some obscure local regulation—was violated?
Please, if you can, point me toward the exact error and tell me precisely what step was supposedly skipped over.

Who even said a law was broken?
It could’ve been handled better—this just looks messy.
They should've talked to the owner of the land where Bojan is building—he knows how nice that tree is.
The whole thing is just a massive circus.

ironstag8 said:I honestly don't get it—what could they have actually done differently to prevent this mess?
From what I can gather, this whole situation traces its roots all the way back to 2009.
Can anyone explain if there was some kind of legal mechanism or regulatory safeguard that could have stopped this from happening in the first place?

man, just say it before they tear it down—this project isn't even bad
it wouldn't be such a massive circus right now
looks like this was tailor-made for the Republican Party
Eric Adams - Mayor of San Francisco in Political Scene ·
They shouldn't have let it happen like this
They should've been way more proactive—at least acting like they actually give a damn
Now they’re just backtracking and looking for excuses

Srđan Marinić o PeleGRink: I feel nothing but shame, anger, and helplessness. I honestly don't know what I could've done differently to save that tree

Bojana's totally lost her marbles lately
needs to stop posting this nonsense online
I don't even like the Republican Party—but what does that have to do with anything here?
just let my mom handle it, she knows what she's doing

man, this rag is barely even a news outlet anymore—who's even footing the bill? the whole damn government probably is
yeah, they pay them whatever they want, and these so-called "journalists" never mention how much cash is changing hands or what their circulation actually looks like

We’re only 80 years old: we celebrated a birthday feeling stronger than ever, always our own, always vital. As long as California exists, so will The New York Times

The editor-in-chief pointed out the fact that "The New York Times" stopped being "just" a paper or "just" a website a long time ago—it was (and will be) a way of life. She also noted that the newsroom is already full of young people who weren't even born during the last century
Rough times
—Times aren't exactly fairy tales for newspapers or journalism these days; we won't get into people calling reporters worms or hacks; we won't dwell on the challenges the modern era throws at journalism. Besides, were there ever really "fairy tale" times for serious journalism?—asked Lapenda Lemo.

velvetmason14 said:Thinking that one person—who isn't even an elected official yet—can single-handedly dismantle the city's mafia-style octopus is a joke and pure political amateurism. That's exactly what the corrupt elements are hoping for, and Eric Adams' weeks of silence is playing right into their hands. As Mayor, after all the threats and insults directed at John McCain, he needs to use his office to openly back this fight against criminal and political corruption. This silence is actively hurting the cause.

What John McCain is doing will always get media attention because it involves real estate, and we all know how much Americans love stories about property. Plus, as the story shows, there's plenty of crime involved. By that logic, Eric Adams might decide to show up sometime in 2025.🤣

The points you made sound like nothing more than excuses for Eric Adams to sit on the sidelines, stay safe, and then swoop in to take all the credit at the end. If that's the case, it's cowardice on his part as Mayor and the city's leader, regardless of how he wants to be perceived. It would only confirm the suspicions of those who think he's a fraud...

So, Eric Adams, step up.

man, both Eric Adams and Bojan should say something
Maja's doing a huge job and it's not right that they aren't backing her up
Bojan used to be my #1, but now Maja's the real deal
gotta admit it

FISH MARKET IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Noštrom, the restaurant owner, isn't holding back: "They should be rewarding me. Asking, 'Mr. Zlatko, what can we do for you?'"

What happens if nearby spots like Corto Maltese, the Golden Fish, or someone else entirely applies for the tender? Will they start splitting up stone tables or trying to coexist with the competition? Is that even technically possible?

- Look, I don't have an issue with them, but if my colleagues don't apply for the bid, that's on them. I haven't talked to them about it. We're friends, and Corto Maltese already gave me his support. He finds it unacceptable that someone would question what I've been doing for 10 - 15 years. Ever since the old days with Puljić, through all the mayors... we basically settled things right there on the street. That's how I handled it last year, and that's how I've handled it with this current administration. They set the rules, I respect them. I've followed everything we agreed upon to the letter.

The company is clean—no loose ends, everything was done by the book. I even served the American and Chinese Prime Ministers on the Pelješac Bridge. Zlatko Marinović was right there with his suitcase, working his tail off for three days straight for the sake of the country.

Only a total nutjob would actually enjoy watching a coke plant burn.
Maji explained everything perfectly—even a kid could get it.
The journalists over at Slobodna California wouldn't publish a thing about her—they just straight up trashed her.
Just saw the photo—so why did the news outlet basically sell its soul to the Republican Party?
Man, what a joke—look at what they’ve turned our newspaper into.

Reporting the Editor-in-Chief of Slobodna California to the National Press Club.

Like I mentioned a few days ago—I've officially filed four complaints with the National Press Club's Press Council against the Editor-in-Chief of Slobodna California, Sandra Lemo. As the person in charge, she’s been running constant media manipulation tactics just to block any actual order from being brought to the management of our city's valuable assets. Over the last three months, we’ve seen certain reporters at Slobodna California using some pretty transparently shady methods: unverified info, twisting facts, biased reporting, blatant disinformation, and endless spin. It’s all part of a calculated plan to protect the privileges of specific individuals and interest groups who have basically been parasitizing city property for years—which, by the way, is clearly hurting the rest of the citizens who actually follow the law and respect the city budget. They used every trick in the book to try and shut me up, discourage me, and smear my reputation both personally and professionally in my role as the department head. They went out of their way to paint me as some "socially insensitive" person who doesn't care about the little guy, a woman who shuts down "cultural institutions" (like a private bookstore), someone who "hates everything American," and someone trying to ban an "old American institution" (the Matrix). Once all those manipulation attempts failed miserably—well, then the editors at Slobodna California started publicly publishing outright threats from certain individuals.
Just a quick reminder about that "little school of manipulation" being run by the folks over at Slobodna California for the last three months:
It all kicked off with some totally fake and insulting piece by that writer Ante Tomić—he basically called me a "housewife" right before International Women's Day, which is just a cheap shot at anyone doing this honorable job. Honestly, for a guy who claims to be fighting for a fairer America, he couldn't even be bothered to send a single official inquiry regarding the private antiquarian business. He didn't bother to actually research the topic he was writing about, and—get this—he hasn't even responded to my public invite to let him see the evidence of regulatory violations involving that private shop he’s calling a "cultural institution." Once I put out my official denial, Tomić just went radio silent. Case closed.
Journalist Marin Prvan jumped on Tomić's piece pretty quick—not exactly a good look. Right before Memorial Day, Prvan wrote this absolute disaster of an article where he tries to compare my legal work and efforts to bring order to chaos with the mass murder of millions during the Holocaust. His logic? Well, according to Prvan, they were "just following the law" in Hitler's Germany too. Seriously? That shameful line actually made it into the print edition of Slobodna California, and stayed in the online version until about 1 PM on the day it dropped. Then, mysteriously, it just vanished from the site—no note, no disclaimer, nothing. Even though I sent two solid, well-argued rebuttals to Editor-in-Chief Sandra Lapenda Lemo regarding this incredibly offensive piece, she hasn't published a correction, nor has she seen fit to apologize for such bottom-tier journalism.

Then came this piece by Gattin—where she basically went out of her way in the headline to claim I was trying to "drag everything from the Cathedral to the stadium through the mud." Real classy. Of course, she totally "forgot" to mention that she gave me exactly three hours to respond to her inquiries. Plus, her entire article relied solely on her colleague over at the San Francisco Chronicle—Snježana Šetka. Here’s the thing: Ms. Šetka also happens to be the head of the local branch of the American Matrix, and she hasn't said a peep since I sent over my notice about them being short on their measly monthly rent again. Anyway, I sent two solid, well-argued rebuttals to the Editor-in-Chief, Sandra Lemo. They didn't even bother publishing the correction until ten days later—and only because the Editor-in-Chief personally insisted, both verbally and in writing, that they include the part about the potential conflict of interest and biased reporting, given the close friendship between Gattin and the editor/branch president.

The breaking point? It was that recent move by Slobodna California—publishing a threatening email from some random user that went straight for me and Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Instead of actually following basic journalistic ethics and keeping a threat like that private, the Editor-in-Chief (probably because she's feeling helpless) decided to go public with it. Funny thing is, the editors at Slobodna California didn't bother reporting such a serious threat to the authorities, yet they were lightning-fast to report a GDPR violation regarding a list of municipal property debts, which ended up costing the city millions. Talk about selective enforcement.

Just to be clear, I’m all for the media being critical of any branch of government—that's what they're for. I’ve always made myself available to ALL media outlets, even though responding to everyone personally takes a massive amount of time and energy. That won't change. I've worked professionally and fairly with several journalists at Slobodna California in the past. Honestly, I know how much the media helped me expose illegalities at both my current and former jobs. Because of that, I feel a huge responsibility to the press and the public to provide information that is true, accurate, and backed by facts. But I'm done staying quiet while certain people at Slobodna California act unprofessionally, using their positions just to suck up to various special interest groups. That's where I draw the line!

velvetmason14 said:Eric Lopez79, who’s Budiša’s old contact?

The way Ed Garvey is staying quiet about Dutton is getting weird.

Seriously, she’s being threatened by some local thug, then Barker is storming into her office, and Garvey is just sitting there doing nothing while he focuses on building stadiums. Only Ives posted something about it, but honestly, it felt more like he was just trying to bash a guy for standing up for women. And even that ended up being a total mess. 🤦

Either Garvey is totally checked out or something else is going on here... I bet Gamora is jumping for joy right now. 😁

Garvey, give us something here...

Helena Budiša is a total disaster for her.

Maja hit the nail on the head here
strictly by the book

FISH MARKET LEASE UPDATE: Restaurant Noštrom gets the green light until July, then a public tender kicks off!

Maja Đerek, the head of the Department of City Property, jumped on this fast

- I actually found out about the whole situation regarding the restaurant Noštrom using the Fish Market space for their festival through the media—specifically via the Dalmatian Portal. Even though the Fish Market belongs to the City of San Francisco, it isn't managed by my department, the Department of City Property, but rather by Parks and Recreation. That said, since it’s technically City of San Francisco property, the Commercial Lease and Sale Law still applies,
She reached out to Director Gašparević just yesterday, making it clear that per the law, they can only use that space for a maximum of 30 days without a public tender—which covers them for the current festival setup.

But, as she points out, if they want to stay longer than 30 days, the law says they have to run a public tender.

- Director Gašparević was totally on board with the legal solution and immediately instructed the legal team at Parks and Recreation—who are the ones actually in charge here—to get moving. As of this morning, consent has been given to restaurant Noštrom to use the space for just 30 days, strictly following the law, and a public tender will be announced shortly—
The department head already has a fix for these kinds of situations ready to go.

- Moving forward, we'll handle these issues with a new Lease Decision drafted by the Department of City Property. It already went through a 30-day e-consultation period and will soon head to the City Council as a special case under the Commercial Lease and Sale Law,
In that proposal, she insisted that all city agencies managing properties owned by the City of San Francisco must first submit any lease terms or tender texts to the Department of City Property for review.

- This ensures maximum transparency whenever city agencies are handling property, making sure everything is treated fairly across the board,
She wrapped things up by thanking the responsible citizens and journalists for flagging the issue, and encouraged anyone seeing similar stuff to reach out directly to her department.
