Best IPTV apps for Linux? in Software ·
Honestly, Windows isn't great for IPTV.
It’s probably not the best move. You won't really get anywhere with it.
At the end of the day, you'll just be sitting there on your Windows PC running VLC like everyone else.
There aren't any standout solutions specifically for Windows anyway.
An Apple TV is definitely your best bet.
Just don't get caught up in the hype and buy some weird, off-brand version like a Fire Stick or whatever they call those things.

Who would’ve thought watching IPTV on Linux would be such a headache?
It looks like if you want to keep streaming, grabbing an Apple TV is probably your best bet.
Honestly, that's the only way to actually get the most out of the experience.

I honestly don't know much about Linux.
Does Linux actually allow you to emulate a set-top box?
Try changing the file extension from .m3u to .m3u_plus, then open it in VLC.
That should trigger it to load the channel list.
It's pretty strange that the guy you bought this from doesn't have a solution ready for you.

shadowviper12 said:Hey everyone,

I'm looking for an app to watch IPTV M3U lists on Ubuntu. The guy I bought the subscription from recommended IPTV Smarters, saying there's a version for Linux, but I can't find a download link anywhere. Here is their site:
https://www.whmcssmarters.com/iptv-s...pro-for-linux/>
I'm not sure if they only sell the app to service providers or what the deal is..

I have Kodi installed too, so I'm open to any good addon recommendations for this.

So far, I've only managed to get the list working in VLC, but after testing it on the IPTV Smarters app on my Android phone, I realized VLC isn't picking up half the channels—it just doesn't show them.

Thanks in advance!

If you're on Linux, VLC is pretty much your only real option.
If VLC isn't pulling all the channels, you might have the wrong file extension.
If your list ends in .m3u, it might not be loading everything correctly.
Have you reached out to the guy you're paying for the list?

I’d want to take this discussion a bit deeper from a philosophical standpoint—how much money and how many people should realistically be poured into managing one individual like this? And does the system really need to buckle under the weight of trying to integrate people who harbor such intense hatred, or should they simply be sent back to their home countries?

Look, he lost an uncle, and so many people from our neck of the woods have lost parents in various wars... he believes Swedes are pedophiles responsible for war crimes in his homeland and in Africa... he views alcohol as a state-sanctioned drug and sees the ban on hashish as pure discrimination... he even lists at least ten specific people he wants to kill before he leaves... why hasn't all of this been reported to the police? In my view, he deserves to be deported back to his country of origin...

Because if anyone said to me, "Yeah, you say all these things too, and you're right, but I've never explicitly threatened to kill someone under certain conditions or expressed this level of visceral hatred toward my surroundings," it would feel different...

The core issue here is that we're talking about children traumatized by war, coming from cultures where life might look completely different at seventeen, raised on heavy propaganda about war, vengeance, and holy crusades between brothers... they are fundamentally different from the environment they live in now, and I honestly don't know how much tolerance the local community has for them during daily interactions...

Ultimately, those wars are a tragedy for all of humanity, and I truly hope they come to an end... but America can't go around trying to heal every single war wound across the entire world...

You should be ashamed.
How can someone like you even sleep at night?
I don't know much about how they handle subtitles in theaters..
but you might not realize that almost every subtitle you see on DirecTV is actually produced by the guy who runs those big subtitle sites.
Basically, he’s just selling subtitles that other people worked hard to create for free.
On top of that, his subtitles are being used by all those smaller networks over in Mexico and Canada too.
So, what does that say about the quality?!
Nosy banks in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Why all the panic?
My bank started asking me those same ridiculous questions every single time lately too...
Seriously, every single time...
The trick is to just tell them you want a formal written request sent to you...
Once it arrives, just tear it up...
Then, when they try to grill you at the branch again, just ask for a written request once more...
After that, nobody sends you anything anymore... and they'll leave you alone for good...

silverwalker27 said:"volunteers" 😁 😁 volunteers are great if you need someone to pick up litter or dig irrigation ditches—but this is a matter of national security. These "volunteers" shouldn't have any contact with the border; this kind of work requires actual professionals—specifically medical experts. Not to mention how much these "volunteers" actually expand the opportunities for smuggling, organized crime, and arms trafficking in this era of terrorism—we need tighter oversight and the arrest of organizations acting against federal mandates.

I'm with you on this...
There's a big difference between volunteering back home where you're actually helping out...
but it's a whole different story when you're "volunteering" to help smuggle people across the border illegally.
In any civilized country, that's called human trafficking, and it should be met with prison time.
Raymond Anderson4 said:The way this author writes articles is a perfect example of why misinformation spreads so fast. People just latch onto the first thing they read without questioning it, which makes her claims incredibly shaky.
I’d suggest picking up a recent copy of The New York Times. There's an excellent commentary in there explaining how emotional doctrines are being used as tools to shape the public mindset, often at the expense of any rational analysis.

That idea about using emotion to mold the masses and kill off rational thought is pretty interesting...
It’s a lot like the doctrine of fear. It's the same result, just achieved through a different route.
The catch is, you need both the media and the politicians on your side to pull off that kind of emotional manipulation.
Without those two working together, you don't get the emotional doctrine (or the fear-mongering).
Look at Canada as an example. You can see how a certain type of far-right thinking stays grounded because they don't have the media outlets willing to push an emotional agenda. Instead, they rely on a doctrine of fear.
It's madness.😁
But man, the success rate of controlling crowds through the media is incredible—they'll write anything if it sounds "shocking."🤦
Paul Kern12 said:Without any intention of defending Greece, I find myself disagreeing with what has been written here.
As far as I am aware, the migrants arrive in Greece from Turkey via sea routes. When they enter Greek waters on small boats, what exactly is Greece supposed to do?
Open fire on inflatable boats?
They cannot simply return them to Turkey, because Turkey does not permit Greek vessels to enter their waters.
It isn't necessarily Greece's fault—it is Turkey's. This situation seems to suit them most, and we see how they use it as leverage to extract as much as they possibly can.
The issue lies with Turkey, rather than so much with Greece.

So what should they do about the rafts??
I guess they should just hire the Australian Coast Guard. They even have training courses in Australia.
Use fast boats to push the rafts right back toward Turkey.
Anyone who sinks a raft should be sent to some isolated island with no access to other boats or ferries. Set up a way of life on the island until they figure out where they actually came from so they can be sent back.
That way, economic migrants will never make it off that island.
The Australians aren't stupid for doing things that way.
It's all Greece and Germany's fault.
Nicole Barrett76 said:I have developed a certain theory regarding this influx of immigrants. I make no claim to be correct, but I truly believe it is worth our contemplation.

The premise is this: — "Western elites, much like any other elite groups, are not omnipotent, even if they possess powers akin to those of God when compared to the common man. However, they are neither all-knowing nor all-powerful, despite being infinitely convinced of their own supremacy. Because they are so intoxicated by this self-assurance, they failed to plan; or at the very least, no significant figure within their ranks accounted for such a massive wave of migration, believing instead that they would somehow maintain absolute control over the entire situation."

I don't buy that theory.
It's actually caused by the warped morality currently infecting society in the West.
To put it simply: if you leave a puppy in the middle of a busy street, reporters and the public will crucify you. But if you abandon a human being, everyone just looks the other way.
Society is basically collapsing under the weight of these twisted moral values that have reached a level of pure insanity.
It's that simple.
Thirty years ago, not a single refugee would have made it this far because they would've been met with force at the borders. Now, the West has drifted into this morally liberal limbo that we can't escape from, because it's become baked into our very identity.
I honestly can't wrap my head around why an EU taxpayer like me should be footing the bill for Turkey to handle the refugee situation.
What on earth?!
We didn't start this conflict, and frankly, we have zero skin in the game.
If anyone’s going to step up, it should be the Americans who stirred the pot in the first place, along with their partners from places like Saudi Arabia or Kuwait.
Why does it feel like someone is always trying to screw over us?
Brenda Taylor13 said:On the flip side, that same USA took in a massive amount of refugees from Canada and a few from America during the last war. You could have even come to the States as a "war refugee" as late as 2001 or 2002—which, mind you, is seven years after the fighting ended in Canada.
The USA is absolutely crawling with Canadian refugees from the last conflict. I'm making this comparison because it’s blindingly obvious that the USA has completely overhauled its immigration policies in the meantime.

Yeah... true... Australia took in a huge amount (honestly, an enormous amount) of refugees from America and Canada back in the early 90s...
And it's also true that lately, Australia has had a right-wing government that leans more conservative, focusing on a policy of not accepting economic migrants.
The laws have changed, and most Australians actually agree with that approach.
Donna Harris11 said:Smugglers will straight up sink boats full of migrants the second they spot a Greek Navy vessel or police boat.

It's basically the same thing happening over in Lampedusa.

I wonder if anyone has ever stopped to ask why Australia never deals with economic refugees.
The Australians dealt with the whole sinking boats issue a long time ago.
The method is actually quite simple.
When they encounter them near the Coast Guard, those economic migrants' vessels get sunk. But the Australians don't take them aboard; instead, they drop a rescue boat that has a hook on the bow. Once the economic migrants climb inside, fast interceptors from the Coast Guard ship hook onto that rescue boat and tow it back toward Indonesia, where they basically just push them back that way.
If the economic migrants refuse to get into the rescue boat because they know they'll just be deported, they get packed onto a Coast Guard ship that never actually reaches Australian soil. The ship heads toward Papua New Guinea (Manhattan Island). They have a refugee camp there to look after them. Once they disclose their home country, they're flown back once enough people have gathered (usually people from Bangladesh, Indochina, or Indonesia).
These people never actually make it to Australia.
There was some news recently about how Australia will start sending them to some remote island in the Pacific to set up a camp.
Australia has the toughest anti-immigration border in the world.
I remember watching an Australian documentary that showed the military patrolling the coastlines where migrants might land. It highlighted how having Indigenous Australian soldiers in those units is a huge advantage, since they're so much better at tracking and finding people.
What are VOB and DVD Data Folder files for? in Software ·
Let's solve this audio mystery once and for all...
Just install VLC Media Player.
Open your file in the player.
If you still don't hear anything, then you're just missing some codecs.
But if there's no sound in VLC Media Player, then there's simply no audio in the file itself.
It’s been a long time since I’ve sat through something this bad...
It’s all just a software issue...
I really hope you still have the receipt and that it's covered under warranty??!!

If you happen to know anyone else who has some "Write-protection" drives in 32 or 64 GB sizes... I’d be more than happy to buy them from you or anyone else out there.
Best USB drives to buy right now? Recommendations wanted! in Computer Peripherals ·
All I know is that I’d never buy Kingston.
I honestly think they hold the record for most broken flash drives.
Spending money on those overpriced, fancy rubberized ones is just throwing cash down the drain because they fail just as fast as the cheap ones.
If you want to store photos, you’re better off getting a small external hard drive. They’re simple, compact, and way more reliable than a thumb drive.
