Patrick Moore11 said:At what age does it actually start being good to take protein supplements? Thanks!

Well, I guess from day one!

Rebecca Myers38 said:I guess I should probably mention Prosport! Honestly, I've been looking into their stuff lately and, oh man, there is just so much to talk about. It’s kind of hard to pin down exactly how I feel, but overall? I'm feeling pretty upbeat about it! Maybe it's just me, but I think they have some really interesting options if you're trying to dial in your nutrition or whatever. I mean, I'm no expert, obviously, but it seems like they're doing some cool things. Just my two cents! 😁

All I see up there is this one for like $22 plus shipping—it’s a 900g tub. Just like you said, they don't have the bigger size available on the site anymore. I haven't actually ordered from Sport USA before, so I guess I'm not really sure why that is... maybe they just ran out?
I've heard some really great things about the flavor of that Dymatize you’re talking about—especially the chocolate one—from a few different people. I haven't actually given it a shot myself, though. To be honest, I guess the taste doesn't even matter much to me when I'm just slamming down 100g of glucose and getting it over with!

I mean, I honestly don't know if you’re planning on sipping on your protein right alongside your meals or just grabbing a shake between them—and I haven't even seen what the rest of your diet looks like! But, hey, it's not like you can just rely on supplements to do all the heavy lifting for you, you know? You still gotta eat your real food. So, yeah... just go for it! Dive in!

Rebecca Myers38 said:So, I guess it might actually be a better deal to just grab the Dymatize elita 12 hr whey over at GNC. I think the 5lb tub is a bit smaller than what they have at $100, though it looks like it's out of stock on the 🤷 website right now. Or, if anyone feels like taking a quick peek at that site, maybe you could suggest something else from there? 😁

Which website are we talking about?

Ethan Garcia8 said:So you've got that 95% blend from Inkospor—it's basically just whey mixed with milk and egg proteins, $33 half a pound. No extra junk, no artificial sweeteners, no flavor enhancers. Nothing at all.

That Inkospor 95% stuff? I think it was on sale or something, maybe around $47 half a pound.

Rebecca Myers38 said:Alright, I get what you mean. That was more of a rhetorical question, really😬
but I’m still curious about that thing I mentioned in my post before last.😉

So, if you feel like you aren't getting enough protein from your meals and you're looking to save some cash, Inkospor actually has Active 80. on sale right now. For $90 you can grab 3 bags, which is about 1.5 kg.
Honestly, during the day, you can drink whey if you want, or just skip it—any other supplement works too, I guess. But man, the flavor is just terrible.
Maybe you could check out www.gladiator.com to find a number and give them a call? You might be able to see if they still have stock or if everything is already sold out.

They probably still have some sitting in their retail locations, too, so you could always ask where those are and just pick some up wherever is most convenient for you.

Rebecca Myers38 said:Quick question 😁>
since I'm struggling to hit my daily protein goals, would it be smarter—and maybe even cheaper—to go with whey, or should I look into some other kind of protein? I was thinking about having it twice a day 🤷

Are you vegetarian, or what?

lonefalcon20 said:Since you’re clearly the "expert" here, maybe you could whip up a workout plan or give me some pointers? I really need to bulk up my chest and shoulders a bit and put on some actual weight...

So, my big, professional piece of advice is basically just... "Eat."

I actually started working out about two weeks ago—nothing super intense yet, just mostly doing sets of 50 pushups and 50 squats with some dumbbells. My main goal is definitely putting on some mass, because honestly, being 6'3" and only 155 lbs feels pretty thin.
How long do you think it'll take before I start seeing some actual results from using these proteins?

Well, I guess it really depends on everything else you're eating, so the answer could be anything from "never" to "maybe in 2 or 3 months."
And, if I'm being totally honest, your current workout routine isn't exactly the best setup for hitting those muscle-building goals.

Sam Roberts said:if you're using whey but actually want something that digests more slowly...

Look, if you're drinking whey but you're hoping for a slow-release effect, I guess you kind of missed the whole point from the very beginning.

dustyrider18 said:How much protein should I be aiming for if I weigh about 172 lbs?

Well, I guess it mostly depends on how much your wallet can handle.
Honestly, don't sweat it too much—unless you've got some underlying health issues going on, you probably won't overdo it.

darkjackal70 said:So I was looking at some pro sports stuff online... like that Labrada Elast Joint... $47...it's about $350 over there... and Supercharge is around $80... maybe $450 here... and honestly, who's the crazy one? I mean, obviously, next time I need something, I'm just gonna order from them directly instead of handing my cash over to local pharmacists....☕

It’s the exact same story when you look at LabCorp.
The way things work here, they sell certain brands under an "exclusive" label—making them way more expensive than everything else—just because they bumped up the margins. That’s really the whole reason why prices jump around so much between different brands in our shops. If you compared what we pay here to what people pay out there, you’d see the same pattern for them too.
Smart businessmen, I guess. 😁

Nancy Robinson50 said:Honestly, Pro Nutrition is just the best! It’s probably the last whey I’ll ever bother trying, seriously. The flavors are actually really good too... So far, I’ve given hazelnut, chocolate, and vanilla a shot... Hazelnut was amazing, kind of reminds me of a Nutella spread 😍 chocolate is pretty decent, but I don't think I'll be ordering the vanilla again, just wasn't my thing...

I guess I don't quite get why you even bothered with the chocolate or vanilla if you loved the hazelnut so much.

shadowsurfer12 said:I mean, I don't think you can really judge based on that... one acquaintance, um... well, who knows how reliable that info actually is? And honestly, even other big brands don't always have those specific kinds of products available everywhere. Scitec isn't exactly a household name like, say, Optimum Nutrition—I've tried their Serious Mass before and it was something else entirely.

Seriously though, Mega Mass is just Mega Mass.
By definition, it's basically just loaded with sugar.

🤣

I mean, there’s honestly such an easy fix for this, I really can't believe one of the younger folks here hasn't already pointed it out to you yet... 😁

Rachel Brooks69 said:hahaha. Honestly, I eat so much, it’s kind of weird how nothing seems to stick, while other people eat like crazy and everything just goes straight to their muscles (well, I guess I'm lucky there, haha)

I love eating everythingggg, especially meat (I could eat tons of it, even if it's kinda gross sometimes)

Dorro, are you actually sure that's what I need though?

What exactly do you mean by "that"?
If you're talking about taking control of your own nutrition as much as possible—then yeah, absolutely.
That’s exactly what someone in your shoes needs. If you don't start moving in that direction over the next three months, it won't matter how many proteins or supplements you take; you won't see any real results.

Rachel Brooks69 said:ugh, gosh. there's just so much of this stuff out there, I think I got a little lost in all the options.

so... can someone please tell me what proteins are actually used for specifically? And like, is it possible to gain weight from them? (please don't laugh if I'm asking something totally silly! 🙂 ) Also, could anyone explain the right way to take them?
Anyway, I'm pretty thin, and I've tried tons of things to put on some weight but nothing works, even though I swear I eat a ton. 😢

Well Rachel Brooks69, I guess it’s all about perception. You probably aren't eating as much as you think.
Since you're so tiny, it basically means you have a metabolism like a little bird.
If you were actually eating enough, you'd be putting on pounds without any trouble at all. 😁

I'd definitely skip those Mass products; they're mostly just sugar and might just cause you some health headaches later on. For you, the best move is really just learning about nutrition and finding foods you actually enjoy eating.

All these theories about protein are kind of secondary, honestly. It's way more important to learn how to prep your own meals—that way, everything is totally in your control—and find food you love. It sounds super simple, and people usually skip over it when talking about supplements, but I guess that's really the key to reaching your goal.

bluestag7 said:Hey everyone, I'm new here! 🙂

I've been surfing around the site for a bit, checking out some of the gym threads, and I finally decided to dive in with that beginner's blastoff program. So, since that program has two or three rest days built in (maybe some light cardio?), should I still be taking whey on those off days? Or should I strictly stick to the training days (like, right after a workout)?

Thanks! 🙂

You can totally drink it on your off days too.
Whether you "should" really just depends on what else you're eating and, I guess, how much money you want to spend on it.
If you can afford it, then yeah, go for it.

velvetraven said:So, the first one is kind of this big blend, you know? You can see it’s got L-glutamine and BCAAs and all sorts of extra stuff mixed in there. But then the second one? That's just straight-up pure Whey. Simple as that!

The first one is also just pure Whey!
I mean, honestly, I guess pretty much every whey protein out there comes with some glutamine and BCAAs already included, right? It seems like that’s just the standard nowadays!
So, basically, those are just amino acids—they're like the fundamental building blocks that make up the whey protein itself!

Carl Taylor said:How on earth did you narrow it down to just those two? Especially when you were browsing that super high-end site... I mean, seriously!

Man, you can totally see that you just added it to your favorites and now you're basically asking the exact same thing every single day! 😁

Hannah Wright said:I just really want to put on some weight... I'm way too skinny... I just need to fill out these gaps somehow...
I've been hitting the gym... mostly focusing on back and chest exercises...

Oh, you're a girl? In that case, maybe aim for around 70g.

But honestly, that shake is only one tiny part of the whole puzzle.
The rest of your day has to be dialed in too, you know?
And what about legs? Did you decide they don't need work, or...?

-Steve

Hannah Wright said:Whey combined with glucose is really just a supplement you take right after your workout. Just mix some whey and glucose with water.

Alright... so we've settled the measurement part...

So if I'm doing 30g of whey, then how much glucose should I add?

Well, I guess it really depends on your body mass, how hard you train, and what your specific goals are, but honestly, it’s not like it's make-or-break.

Maybe 100g is a nice, easy, round number to go with.
