I'm 17 years old (about 156 lbs, 6'1") and I just started hitting the gym. I've only been at it for two weeks. I did a bit of digging regarding proteins and ended up grabbing some "Protein 80 Plus" from Weider http://www.building-body.com/shop/pr...0_plus_-_doza/. People told me this is the best thing to take right after a workout.
So... I was reading through the forums and from what I can gather, everyone seems to be taking glucose along with their protein...
First off, I'm wondering if I should be consuming glucose too with this specific product I bought ( http://www.building-body.com/shop/pr...0_plus_-_doza/ ), or maybe something else instead...
Second... how many grams of protein should I be taking post-workout, how many ounces of milk, and how many grams of glucose (if I even need it).
Yeah, definitely the glucose. Maybe 100g of glucose and about 40g of protein.
Mix it with water after you train. During the day, you can totally do it with milk.
Third... I'm training about 5 days a week on average. I was wondering if I can take protein on my rest days too? And if so, when should I take it and how much?
Whenever you want, I guess. It just depends on your other meals.
Maybe around 30 grams.
And fourth... is this stuff I bought actually any good, or would you recommend something else...?
First of all, kudos to you for getting into training! You're doing a pretty good job gathering info and researching everything. And hey, it's helpful that you linked the products like that. 👍
For now, just go ahead and drink what you bought, even if it wasn't the absolute best choice.
A few tips—try using Whey protein for your post-workout shake. Skip the multi-component blends. The reason is that Whey digests way faster.
Honestly, skip Weider. For the same price (or maybe even less), you can get Inkospor, which is a step up in quality, and you'll actually get more protein per bag than you would with Weider.
The tubs are more expensive than the bags, though it's definitely better to keep your protein in something airtight. Maybe grab one tub and then just pour the bags into it later.
Don't forget that supplements are only one part of the puzzle. If you're looking to put on some serious weight, you're gonna have to pick up a spoon, a fork, and a knife.
