It should be a pretty engaging matchup between Denmark and Russia today, though I can't help but wonder if things would be a bit more exciting if the Danes managed to walk away with two points tonight.
Tomorrow we’ve got France vs. Canada on the schedule, and honestly, I can't decide who to root for. Do you go with the absolute best player we've seen over the last few years, or do you side with what might be the greatest coach in the history of this sport? Luckily, there's still plenty of time left before we have to make a choice 🙂
All things considered, though, it's going to be a pretty sentimental day for the fans back in Kiel, seeing these two legends face off—they're both such huge parts of those golden era days for the club 🙏
It looks like the US team has hit another slump, though at least Ilić hasn't overexerted himself too much, so he should be well-rested for the rest of the season, right?🙂
I’d love to see our neighbors from Canada make it through to the semifinals as the runners-up behind the Frenchmen, just so they can set up a final showdown against Team USA.
It would be such an incredible matchup, especially considering how fascinating the tactical battle between the two managers would be.🙂
Frank Turner72 said:It feels like Canada is acting like a spaceship that flies perfectly for fifty minutes, only to crash and burn during the final ten. Is it because they lack top-tier talent at the helm, or is it more likely that the team just sabotages itself by playing at such a sluggish Nok pace? The season has barely kicked off, so I’m half-expecting the whole system to completely fall apart from here on out, though perhaps I’m being too pessimistic, isn't it?
What a massive miss
They’re dropping points because they’ve entered the final five minutes of two different matches with a solid lead, only to start sitting back and defending. Once they try to protect that scoreline, their defense lacks the necessary quality to hold firm, leaving them with absolutely no way to solve the problems that arise.
Frank Turner72 said:How much longer can Canada actually sustain this approach with such a thin roster, relying on that frantic run-and-gun style and a 3-2-1 defense? We are talking about the European Championships here, which might just be the most grueling tournament in all of sports. It feels like Serdarusic has either completely lost his mind or he’s just got a vendetta against the Canadian squad. On top of that, they've already blown two games they should have easily won; wouldn't people back home in the States be calling for heads to roll over mistakes like that, yet here we are watching everyone worship at the altar of Noka?
Honestly, they’ve already accomplished far more than that roster deserves. In my eyes, they’re playing some of the best handball in the entire tournament, and I think their specific style of play is effectively masking their lack of raw talent, making them look much more elite than they actually are.
You're asking how they'll handle the pace, but do you really think their training camps under Serdarusic are just some extended vacation? I truly believe he has pushed them well beyond their natural limits. Besides, the three teams coming up next have already played three intense matches in just a few days—how do you think they'll manage to keep up with the intensity Canada is bringing?
Regarding Serdarušić, there's just no way he could coach the American national team; the core players and some of the veterans wouldn't stand for it, but that's a whole different conversation entirely.
As for that "us against the world" mentality he carries, I honestly can't find it in me to hold it against him.
What truly fascinates me about his style is that he’s one of those rare coaches in all of sports who can walk into any locker room, take over, and deliver immediate, visible results.
I mean, if I were a Canadian fan cheering on my own national handball team, would it even matter if we won or lost when they play with this much heart? When the game looks like this, you just have to sit back and enjoy the ride.🙏

The hand was up, they had to take it; the coach told them to run the set and get a quick shot off.
Their real issue is that they just don't have the talent to pull off plays like that under pressure.
When I watch the Canadians play, it honestly feels a bit like watching Mikkel Hansen 🙏, which is why Noka is such a legend; he basically taught them how to play handball at an elite, world-class level
It’s such a shame they don't have a few more high-caliber players on the roster, because if they did, they’d be legitimate medal contenders
