It looks like France has landed in a tough group again, but I honestly don't doubt they'll pull through just like they did at the last World Cup; even when they were stuck in those brutal brackets, they still managed to be a massive headache for whatever top-tier squad had been dominating the scene for the last few years.
The number two seed is wide open, and I have a feeling Spain might just snatch it up, especially if they can lean on the talent of what’s arguably the best goalkeeper we've seen in recent memory.
It’s going to be such an interesting battle for second place once the groups merge, especially since teams like Austria and Ukraine will have been knocked out after the first stage, don't you think?
...I'm looking to pick up some "small" plastic soldiers 😕
I've been scouring various "spots" and toy stores, even checking out those local dollar stores, but it seems like they only ever carry the "large" plastic soldiers everywhere I go.
Could someone help me understand why people say there's a connection between movies like *Se7en* and *Fight Club* that would somehow prevent them both from appearing on the same list?
For Blanka Vlašić, this win matters way more than just adding another gold medal to the collection, doesn't it? It’s about finally proving to everyone that her performance two years ago wasn't just a stroke of luck, but that she truly possesses that little spark that defines a real champion.
If she had only cleared 206, I honestly think we would have seen the end of her career on the big international stage.☕
Honestly, I don't think Blanka has that level of self-assurance needed to snatch the gold right now; you can just see it in her demeanor, though if she actually manages to grab a medal, wouldn't that be an incredible achievement?

Naturally, he shot that down—kind of like that old joke where you ask a grandma who her greatest love is and she just says, "sailors"—and offered them this instead: his 20 favorite films released from 1992 onwards, which happens to be the year he actually started directing.

1. Battle Royale 2. Anything Else 3. Audition 4. The Blade 5. Boogie Nights 6. Dazed & Confused 7. Dogville 8. Fight Club 9. Friday 10. The Host 11. The Insider 12. Joint Security Area 13. Lost In Translation 14. The Matrix 15. Memories of Murder 16. Police Story 3 17. Shaun of the Dead 18. Speed 19. Team America 20. Unbreakable
All things considered, I'm pretty stoked—we seem to be on the same page for the most part. It was cool to see him include The Insider, and I loved how much he hyped up Dogville; he was also incredibly upfront about what The Matrix means to him, and gave such a great breakdown of Unbreakable. Honestly, nobody should hold it against him for leaving out Oldboy. Apparently, they cornered him in passing and the interview wasn't even scheduled, so he really only had about ten minutes to pull his thoughts together. I haven't actually seen Battle Royale yet, which is a bit embarrassing 😵
What about you guys? What's your take?
🙂
I actually found myself thinking about it the other day since it’s been such a long time since I last watched it, but man, back when I was just a kid, this was easily my favorite movie.🙂

You can't just show up to a massive championship and wait until everyone else has already dropped out before you start performing. I mean, she started at a height 10 cm lower than her best jump this year. Isn't that basically like Blanka starting her jumps at 2 meters? When you miss that first attempt, it's so easy to let nerves and self-doubt take over. Besides, if she wasn't ready to handle more than two or three jumps, who's to say she was truly prepared? And she was announcing her hunt for the WR right there in New York City 😂
I don't think it's an issue of underestimation; she has simply mastered the art of winning in just one or two jumps, and then she goes head-to-head against the world record on her own terms.
She just isn't in peak shape because of an injury she dealt with, which she actually admitted herself after her first loss this year. If she were truly in top form, wouldn't she be able to clear those heights easily, whether it's on her first try or her second?

1. Elena Isinbaeva (honestly, maybe she deserves an award for the most foolish move of the decade... skipping those lower heights at the start was just pure arrogance, and seeing that kind of overconfidence come back to haunt her feels like a boomerang hitting its target.)
Personally, I don't find this surprising at all, because after her first loss earlier this year, she actually hinted that something like this might happen, didn't she?
As for the missed attempts, wouldn't it be a bit unrealistic to expect someone to suddenly jump five or six times when they've been winning with just one or two successful jumps all year, especially now that she isn't quite in peak form?
