More often than not, most of the complaints I see in Politics end up being about how undemocratic things actually are.

Since you asked with a question mark, I'm assuming you want an answer: I didn't comment because I didn't want to cause any drama in the conversation between you and Tyndall, or whoever else you were looking for an answer from.

The only reason I posted here was, like I said before, because I genuinely wanted to understand why this situation hit a few people so hard emotionally.

I still think my writing is unnecessary (maybe I should start using proper punctuation again :/) and breaks the rules since it doesn't actually help resolve the issue you're complaining about (mostly because I can't take anyone's side here), so it deserves to be deleted or warned. I just wanted to satisfy my own curiosity.

I definitely agree about the inconsistent moderation—to me, it feels like people get a pass on breaking rules because it's not that big of a deal, but then later on, those same types of violations get penalized.
(That includes all my own posts in this thread, which honestly were pretty unnecessary.)

Everyone who replied to my original post pointed out the unfairness—I've known that from the start. It's clear you guys don't agree with how the punishments are being handed out, but what I was actually trying to get at was *why* things even reached this point.

I skimmed the first page of that thread, but it was just a bunch of crude, inside jokes and trolling, so I didn't bother reading any further.

Why would thinking for yourself be at odds with believing them? Sure, the act of believing is one thing, but if the mods and admins actually turn out to be right, then they aren't opposites. It feels like you're just pushing one single solution as the only truth.

I’m still totally lost—I skimmed the first page, saw nothing but inside jokes and random vulgarity, and that was it. I'm really not feeling like diving into 300 pages of that, especially if there isn't some juicy payoff hidden in there somewhere.
One more thing: when you talk about banning clone accounts, are you referring to cases where the original account isn't banned? If that's the case, I don't see why it should be prohibited unless those clones were being used specifically to break Reddit rules.

Religion is such a toxic minefield on this board. Back before we had the report button and formal warnings, the book of complaints would get flooded daily with reports from every side—deletion requests, accusations of bias... knowing how people act here, I bet since they can report posts now, the reports are coming in waves. I'm sure some users are just reporting every single post made by anyone they disagree with. Eventually, someone will find something that looks like an insult or a rule violation to a moderator.
And once you realize your opponent is playing that game, you end up playing along just to take them down before they take you out.

The Religion section is a mess. It’s like any other place where non-believers open their mouths against hardliners, leaving the zealots with no choice but to use every dirty trick in the book just to shut them up.

I’d swap out every instance of setting someone up with "planted." If Person A breaks a rule—they get a warning. If Person B uses trolling to plant that violation—Person B gets the warning.

In both scenarios, Person A is responsible for themselves, and Person B is responsible for themselves.
That’s why I don't get how someone can be "set up" for a warning (unless there's some massive site-wide conspiracy to ban specific people, which seems unlikely).
