Smith won't hang out with me in Psychology & Therapy ·
Why are you even reaching out? Stop wishing him a happy birthday, and heaven forbid you actually buy someone like that a gift.😵Treat him exactly how he treats you.👋Honestly, my favorite kind of idiot is the one who pops up for holidays and birthdays but stays completely MIA the rest of the year. I just don't see the point...
Nosy banks in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
My mom has an account at Zillow, and she got that notice a few months back. She hasn't bothered to deal with it yet. She’ll probably just swing by the branch when she's running errands and give them whatever answers they need. No one has called her or sent anything since.🙄Honestly, you guys are being such drama queens.
JPMorgan Chase asked me those same citizenship questions and if I had any business ties in the USA a few months back.
It’s honestly hard to believe some people go through all this trouble just to ask the same questions over and over again. It’s exhausting.🤦🤣
I haven't heard anything like that from anyone else; it seems to be unique to this forum. At the end of the day, you can just decline to fill out the survey and call it a day. Nobody’s going to force your hand.🤣
Nosy banks in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I recently opened a checking account and didn't face a single interrogation—no calls, no emails, nothing. Honestly, this whole thing feels blown out of proportion; apparently, they have nothing better to do than harass you ten times a day to fill out some endless questionnaire?🤦

And I have to disagree with the crowd here claiming it’s somehow "better" if the bank asks for my info instead of the IRS or other agencies. I’d much rather be asked directly so I can decide what to disclose, rather than having my data passed along without permission! I'm not hiding anything, but I really dislike the idea of the IRS meddling and handing my private details over to the bank like that!

ruggedfox28 said:Guys, you really need to realize that nobody here actually gets a vote on this stuff...

...once our country joined the USA, we became part of that whole organization, which means we're stuck following all the banking rules they set. The USA has trade deals with the USA, and one of those includes the so-called IRS agreement. That's why your bankers are breathing down your necks to sign it—it's the law here in America and under USA regulations...

...by signing, you’re basically declaring that you aren't dodging taxes in the States and aren't playing games with stocks between the USA and the USA. The whole point is just how the bank tracks your activity, mostly to make sure you don't get hit by double taxation. If you pay taxes in the USA, you shouldn't have to pay them here, and vice versa...

..obviously, it's all tied into those anti-money laundering laws too...

...look, you don't *have* to sign it, but pretty soon the bank is going to make it impossible for you to do business with them (I'm not sure what the legal deadline is for the country to align everything with USA regs, but it's coming)...

..then you'll have people saying, "Screw them, I'll just go to a different bank" or "I don't have time for this nonsense," kind of like what ruggedfox28 said above. But newsflash: no bank is gonna take you in without that signature when you try to open a new account...

..and you honestly think banks want to waste phone lines and employee hours chasing every single client down to get that IRS paperwork signed?

...sure, you can draw the line at the super personal stuff—like your spouse, how many kids you have, or if you're married...

...but even then, they're mostly gonna ask those questions if you have overdraft protection (especially with loans). Any kind of overdraft is basically a loan, and once a bank is lending you money, they can ask whatever they want. People lose jobs and income streams every day, so it's totally normal for a bank to want to know if you own property, if your spouse is working, or how many kids you're supporting, just so they know they can actually get their money back...

..or if they can pitch you another loan or a credit card 😬

That's the bottom line. The bank couldn't care less about your wife or your kids; 🤣they only care if you can meet your obligations. They’ll only grill you with those questions if you're asking for loans or overdrafts. They won't bother with that when you're just opening an account or doing routine business. Why doesn't that happen to me? Because I'm not asking them for anything!
How do you defeat evil and the people behind it? in Psychology ·
How do you actually escape people like that in a school setting? You’re forced to show up every day and just endure the insults, the bullying, and the pure malice. I went through all of it back in my school days; I saw the worst of humanity firsthand. It’s honestly terrifying that these types just walk around living normal lives today—they can say whatever they want, but in my experience, they never outgrow that spite or actually become decent human beings.

I ran into some of them years later, and that nasty look in their eyes hasn't changed one bit. They're still repulsive. The only difference is I'm not afraid of them anymore, because they don't have any power to hurt me!
Women's mental health issues in Psychology ·
I honestly think if someone is wired that way, they just see every other woman as a threat. It’s exhausting hearing generalizations like "women are cutthroat." The idea that women can't be friends or that we're all just inherently jealous and malicious is nonsense. I’ve heard those exact lines from women who actually *are* terrible friends—they’re just bad at maintaining relationships, so they claim everyone else is out to get them instead of facing reality.😁

Do you really believe every single woman is out to steal your boyfriend or stab you in the back? If that's how someone sees the world, the problem isn't "women"—it's their own warped perception. They see enemies everywhere because they refuse to see anyone as an ally.
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Well, I’m feeling a bit under the weather today. Apparently, if I touch dairy for even a few days, my body decides to stage a full-scale protest. Even yogurt is off the table.😢
@Emily Barnes6, oh man, Neofen is easily the worst. It always makes me feel nauseous, and honestly, it doesn't even help the pain much. You should try Advil instead; it actually works for me and isn't nearly as revolting to swallow.
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Ever since I went vegetarian, the cramps haven't hit quite as hard. They still show up occasionally, but it’s manageable. I don’t know if there’s a scientific link, but honestly? I’m just thrilled that my period isn't running my entire life anymore. Let's keep it this way🙂.

When things do get rough, my go-to combo is ibuprofen, nettle tea, and a heating pad. My best advice? Avoid dairy during those days—and maybe avoid life in general.
Unfortunately, my circle is a little different. I’m constantly surrounded by people with egos the size of Texas who, just like the previous poster mentioned, genuinely believe the entire world revolves around them.
What makes someone likable or unlikable to you? in Psychology ·
Most people making jokes about dying in a foreign country are just terrified of their own mortality. They’re masking a deep-seated fear of death with cheap, cynical humor...

I can't stand people who lack tact or empathy—those condescending egomaniacs. On the flip side, I actually like people who aren't like that. 🙂
What makes someone likable or unlikable to you? in Psychology ·
I’ve always had a soft spot for people who aren't arrogant—those who actually have a backbone instead of just drifting wherever the wind blows.
Arrogance and massive egos are easily my least favorite traits.
How can I help my brother? in Psychology & Therapy ·
ironrider11 said:Just leave him alone. All this "helping" you're doing is just rubbing his nose in it...
Let him be... let him deal with things his own way...
Your version of what the "problem" is isn't necessarily reality... at least not for him...

"The road to hell..."

I’m also pretty low-key and private. I actually cut off some relatives because they wouldn't stop pushing their expectations on me, and now we don't speak. Honestly, nothing is worse than being constantly told, "you're like this" or "you need to do that." We aren't all built the same—some people are extroverts, others are introverts, and I've never judged anyone else for how they carry themselves. I agree with this; if the brother keeps up this fake "care," he's going to drive his sibling away. If I felt like seeing a therapist, I'd go!

@To the author: You can't actually know how your brother acts at college or who he hangs out with. You say he gets good grades, and someone who is truly "socially stunted" likely wouldn't be performing that well or passing his exams. I honestly don't see the issue here. Just let him be himself!
Would you ever help someone who abused you? in Psychology & Therapy ·
No. Not to my mother or anyone else who ever mistreated me. They’ll try to worm their way back into your life just to start the cycle all over again—maybe they'll play nice for a day or two before the old patterns resurface.
Sending photos of bruises just to bait your sympathy is textbook manipulation. Don't fall for it.
Anyone who has dealt with an abuser knows exactly how these people operate and what they're capable of; they don't just suddenly change.
Don't let this shake you. Just live your life. You have to stay strong and see right through the games.
Good luck.
Should I apologize for how I acted? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Don't bother apologizing. You weren't even really her friend; you were just her walking ATM. People like that aren't worth the headspace—just cut ties.
As for those constant messages, just ignore them. Eventually, she'll get the hint and stop.🙂
The Exorcist (2012) in Movies ·
I checked it out, and honestly, it lived up to the hype. Solid acting, a gripping plot, and plenty of steamy scenes—definitely worth your time 👍
The Exorcist (2012) in Movies ·
The trailer looks pretty intriguing. It’s been quite a while since I’ve sat through a decent modern horror flick, so I’m crossing my fingers this one actually lives up to the hype. Can't wait to check it out.😁
